Adventure Campus Goals

1. Foster independence by providing choices for children to participate in individual and cooperative experiences.

2. Promote social-emotional development through guided recreational games and activities.

3. Promote a healthy mind and body through participation in age-appropriate recreational opportunities.

4. Provide a variety of daily lesson plans including snacks, homework, themed activities and free time.

The Northbrook Park District’s Adventure Campus program is a great way for children to learn, gain selfconfidence and make new friends while having fun! Program highlights include:

• Daily programming includes homework, gym/ outside play, arts and crafts and board games

• Enrichment programming activities

• Daily snack

ePACT – Required Electronic Paperwork

• Qualified staff trained in safety, supervision and customer service

• Activity choices for children include crafts, activities and gym games

The Northbrook Park District uses ePACT to securely collect and manage critical emergency information. ePACT replaces the need to fill out multiple paper forms and ensures staff has the most up-to-date and accurate contact and medical information in case of emergency. Each child’s profile through ePACT must be submitted prior to attending the program. ePACT forms must be submitted by August 8 to begin Adventure Campus at the start of the school year. Information regarding ePACT is sent to families via email following enrollment. If an ePACT form has been submitted within the past 12 months, a new form does not need to be completed.

NSSRA

The Northbrook Park District partners with the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association (NSSRA) to offer recreation programs and services to residents of all abilities. NSSRA support staff is available to work alongside program participants, assisting with special needs and behavior. If you require program assistance, check the box on the registration form. For questions regarding inclusion, contact our NSSRA Liaison, Mary Mucci at 847-291-2995 or mmucci@nbparks.org.

Choosing Your Child’s Schedule

Adventure Campus is only open to students who are attending one of the schools listed above. You must choose a consistent schedule for your child. For example, if you only need childcare three days a week, your days must be the same for each week your child is enrolled. So, if you select Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for your three-day-a-week option, it must be those three days every week of the program. Children must enroll in PM care for at least three days per week to ensure care is available to families with the greatest need for this service. For AM care, families can select anywhere from one to five days per week.

Early Dismissal Days: District 30

Daily fees include Early Dismissal Days at District 30. On Early Dismissal Days, fees cover care for your child from the time of the early dismissal through 6pm. Pick up your child anytime. Inform your Site Director if your child will not be attending the Early Dismissal Day. Children must be enrolled for the specific day of the week to be eligible for early dismissal day care.

School Day-Off Activities

When students have full days off of school, the Park District has several programming options available for an additional fee. Visit nbparks.org/adventurecampus for more information.

No Program Days

Adventure Campus follows the school district calendar for each location along with emergency closures. Adventure Campus will not be in session and no alternate programming will be available on the following dates:

• November 27–28, 2025

• December 24–25, 2025

PM Care: $25/day

Payments

A non-refundable registration fee of $50 is due at the time of registration. All other payments are due 30 days before the next month begins. Example: September payment will be automatically charged on August 1 unless you opt to pay in full. We will not be able to split payments between caregivers or guardians.

Scholarships

Participants who meet the criteria can receive financial assistance towards recreation programs and memberships. Applicants only need to qualify once per calendar year. Contact Melanie Cohen at 847291-2995 or mcohen@nbparks.org for an application form or to learn more about the scholarship program.

Withdrawals and Schedule Changes

To withdraw from the program or change your child’s schedule you must fill out a withdraw/change request online at nbparks.org/adventurecampus.

Requests to increase the number of days per week your child is attending are dependent upon availability at your child’s Adventure Campus site. Requests to decrease the number of attendance days will not be granted until after winter break. If you are reducing your child’s schedule you will be charged a $25 service fee per child, per transaction.

Withdrawals are subject to an administrative fee of 10% of the remaining balance owed to the program. Withdraw requests will be processed for the next automatic payment and refunds will not be given for past days missed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are staff trained?

All staff go through extensive training prior to beginning the school year. Training topics include safety, child accountability, supervision, first aid, bullying, appropriate discipline, emergency situations, behavior management and customer service. All staff attend an annual Risk Management training and are CPR and AED certified. All staff are required to attend trainings throughout the school year. Adventure Campus staff are also mandated reporters and trained in concussion recognition.

What snacks do you offer?

Adventure Campus sites are nut-free environments. Examples of snacks offered at the program include fresh fruit, applesauce, yogurt, fruit snacks, crackers, string cheese and more. Children may bring nut-free snacks from home.

What if my child won’t be attending for the day?

If your child will be absent, you must contact both the school and Adventure Campus.

Adventure Campus can be contacted by the site phone number and email that will be provided to you in August. You can also notify the site in person in regard to a future absence (i.e. my child will not be attending this Friday, they will be taking the bus home). We do not prorate for missed days.

Can someone else pick up my child?

All authorized pick-up names must be listed on your child’s ePACT profile, our electronic software program that replaces paper forms. We cannot accept verbal authorization. However, written authorization from the parent/guardian is accepted using any of the following methods: handwritten note, email or text message. The authorized pick-up person must present a photo ID at the time of pick-up. We will not release a child to a person that is not designated as a pickup person.

What if my child has an allergy or needs medication?

Parents must fill out the Permission to Dispense Medication Form and/or the Allergy Action Plan within their ePACT profile. Once the information is received, the parent will provide the Site Director with medication, which will be kept on-site in a medication lock box. Adventure Campus must have their own supply of a child’s medication. Due to the unique program hours, medication from the school is not available to Adventure Campus.
