AT THE HELM

AT THE HELM Dear Fellow Members of RSYC, We have closed the financial year-end as at 31 December 2018. An independent audit has begun at the middle of February 2019 as we prepare for the annual report with the audited financial statement. BRIEF NOTE ON FINANCIALS Total Operating Surplus of $600k less depreciation with Total Net deficit of $1.96k for the year 2018. The overall for the month of December 2018, the financial result in most departments were plausible and we hope to continue to improve with higher revenue with controlled cost for a better financial bottom line in 2019. Along in years, the Club received about $360k from Government funding Under the Wage Credit Scheme (WCS) and Special Employment Credit (SEC). We have put aside this sum of funding for the Club’s staff training and development. The Ministry of Manpower strongly urges employers to implement progressive employment practices to benefit Singaporeans through job redesign, age management practices, worklife measures and improve workplace practices. With such schemes, we hope to move towards productivity-driven growth and focus on the quality rather than the quantity of the workforce as a key source of growth and competitiveness. Better work environment and practices will allow for future sustainability and help the Club attract and retain workers. SEA SPORT, ACTIVITIES & EVENTS The Club continues working with The Boat Shop Asia on PPCDL and sailing courses. We hope to bring in more sea sport activities for more young adults and

members. The recently upgraded gym has attracted more social members to come back to the Club due to better and more modern gym facilities to manage their bodies’ fitness and health. The RSYC Charity Golf 2019 held on 18 January 2019 was a success with over $460,000 raised for St Andrew’s Nursing Home, and the money raised will go towards its programmes, treatment and services that will support the work towards caring for the patients and their families at the Nursing Home. A big thank you to all gracious and generous donors, sponsors and organizations for their support and contribution. We could not have done it without your help. Your strong support is very much appreciated and we hope you will support us again in our upcoming charity events. Signature events of the Club in the pipeline are Commodore’s Day in June and the RSYC Regatta in July. Do look out for details of these events on the website and posters around the Club. On the marina front, boater’s night will be held on 26 April 2019 where all boaters and members can gather and unwind with good food and beers! OUTLOOK FOR 2019 RSYC General Manager, Mr. Claudio Schettino together with the management team are expected to improve progressively in 2019, with projected revenue and costs in the budget. The team to look at all avenues to increase revenue from Room, Banquet and Marine in order to achieve the budget for 2019. The team have also been tasked to come up with sales and marketing plans to sell rooms, banquets and berths especially, the upcoming reconstructed H, I and J Berths.

Besides being profit oriented, the Club has planned for more lively and vibrant activities and events with the intention to attract more members to take part and enjoy their leisure time at the Club. Thus, I urge all members to support the Club by regularly participating in upcoming events; and patronize its facilities, F&B outlets and accommodation. We are always looking for more members to come forward to contribute their expertise to help take the Club forward further, help the Club to continue to prosper and grow. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family good health, happiness and prosperity in the year ahead. Best Wishes, TAN KAY TOH Treasurer Republic of Singapore Yacht Club

GENERAL MANAGER’S NOTE

GENERAL MANAGER’S NOTE Dear Members, Times flies and we are now into the 2nd quarter of the year. The Club has been actively embarking on a sprucing up campaign to improve its club offerings and surroundings. We have recently introduced new promotional rates for Social Membership, new revamped gymnasium and many more exciting fitness activities and events for members. As you may have noticed, we have installed the swimming pool rules and regulations signage by the poolside informing members on the Do & Don’ts of the swimming pool to ensure the safety of all members. We seek members’ cooperation in enforcing this rule. The Singapore Yacht Show, happening from 11th to 14th April 2019, showcasing top yacht makers, boating and lifestyle accessories, will be of interest for yachting enthusiasts among our members. Do keep a lookout on getting complimentary ticket access to the show and other details on our website and on posters around the Club in April. We are proud to announce that RSYC will be hosting Marina professionals from around the world who are here to take part in the Marina Study Tour organized by the Marina Industries Association and Singapore Boating and Industry Association on Friday, 12 April 2019.

This year, we will be celebrating Easter Sunday at La Pizzeria at The Bridge & Beacon Bar. Bring along your kids as they will definitely have a good time with activities such as Eggs Painting Sessions lined up for them while parents relish an afternoon of delectable 4 course set menu. Our F&B outlets are always introducing new offerings to delight our guests. Indulge in Asian Buffet Madness on 31st March 2019 at The Wharf where you will get to enjoy a spread of Asian delicacies at an affordable price of only $20 per adult. Our Italian Restaurant, La Pizzeria offers delectable monthly specials as well. For meat lovers, do not miss our one week long Meat-ing promotion where you will enjoy premium cuts of meat ranging from Wagyu to Iberico and Venison to showcase different flavor profile to match the carnivorous side of you! I would like to personally call upon members to help us in tightening the security of the Club by displaying your car park decal prominently at all times in the Clubhouse. This is to ensure that only registered or authorized visitors are allowed access to the Club.

Best regards, CLAUDIO SCHETTINO General Manager Republic of Singapore Yacht Club

With so many events and promotions ongoing, we look forward to your continued support and hope to see you and your family around the club more often.

SAFETY & SECURITY

SAFETY & SECURITY SECURITY REMINDERS The Club is tightening up on the security measures around the clubhouse. Mr Stephen Yap, Security Manager of RSYC and his team uphold their job responsibility and are always on the lookout for various breach of security. In a move to manage parking spaces for members and to maintain overall security at the club, members are reminded that only cars displaying the RSYC Car decal are allowed to be parked at the shelter members-only carpark lots. With immediate effect, cars not displaying RSYC car decal will be wheel-clamped. To avoid any inconvenience when entering the Club, Members are strongly encouraged to collect their car decal from the membership office as soon as possible. We hope Boat Owners and Chartered Boat Services owner continue to furnish us the relevant documents (eg Work Order Form, Fishing Trip Name List, Private Function Manifest, Diving List) in order to ensure a smooth process as we tighten on visitors entering and leaving the club. Recently, we have received complaints from members of indiscriminate parking of vehicles. Due to the limited parking lots available, we would also like to remind all members to park in the designated parking lots in order not to cause inconvenience to others. With immediate effect, vehicles found indiscriminately or illegally parked other than the designated parking lots will be wheel-clamped. We seek your kind cooperation in parking properly as the safety of all members and guests at the Club is of prime concern.

SAFETY REMINDERS AT THE MARINA Recently, we have discovered members breaching the safety rules & regulations at the marina. As such, we would greatly appreciate if you could follow the safety measures at the marina as listed below.

Think Safety, Work Safely 1. Please be mindful of smouldering flame when smoking within your boat. 2. Smoking at Dry stackers are prohibited. 3. Please avoid smoking at pontoon. 4. Heavy machineries are in operation at dry stackers at all times. Families with kids are advised to avoid the dry stacker. 5. Driving into dry stackers to launching area are not allowed. 6. Be extra careful at Berth F & G due to the insufficient lightings; RSYC Maintenance are on pilot project to install photocell sensors. 7. Disposing of LPG gas tanks within the premises are not allowed. We have found gas tanks abandoned beside skid tanks and outside of Wharf restaurant’s LPG gas room. 8. Use of Portable Mobile Device (PMD) within premises is prohibited. 9. Avoid charging of batteries and PMD overnight. 10. Refrain from over rigging and plugging in of devices at pontoon as these devices may not be endorsed by certified agencies.

RSYC MARINA: HERITAGE OF PASSION

Reduce your maintenance fees and environmental damage. For yacht owners looking for the ideal way to store their vessels, dry stack storage is the best way. With RSYC’s vertical dry stack that can accommodate up to 218 boats, we would like to invite you to discover why more people are making the switch from conventional marina berths. Dry berths are available for boats of up to 35 ft (10.7m) in length. The dry stack are also equipped with lighting and fire fighting equipment. Why Berth in Dry Stack? - Lower Maintenance cost: Reduce the need for anti fouling. - Reduces Wear & Tear: Storing your boat on the dry reduces the corrosion of the submerged parts of the boat. - Improved Performance: Enjoy smoother rides as your boat will be free of barnacles, weeds and anti-foul paint. - Increased Resale Value: Extend the life span and value of your boat with round the-clock protection from harsh weather conditions.

DOCKSIDE

DOCKSIDE NEW BERTHING RATES 2019 Thank you to all members for your support and patronage throughout the years, overcoming many hurdles and challenges. The improvement of the RSYC marina have include the construction of a breakwater which provides more calm and tranquil water for the safety of our boats and boaters and the reconfiguration of the H, I and J berth which allow us to host bigger and beautiful ladies of the sea. The Club has invested money and put in a big effort to bring about this great improvement in order to prepare ourselves for the very competitive yacht market in the future. Moreover, the marina will be subject to constant maintenance and the staff will be attending ongoing Marina Industries Association’s training. This will certainly improve the safety and security of the operations to provide more enjoyable experience for boaters. This, in combination with the recent and future investments, makes management realised that it was incumbent on them and necessary for RSYC to adjust the berthing rates with the aim to be competitive yet convenient for boaters. Therefore, with effect from 1st April 2019, we introduce new tariff with monthly contract and 12 months contract. Kindly find below the new wet berth rental rates for 2019.
