President’s Report

Trailer Safety Week just wrapped up, and I’ve got to say—it was incredible to see how many people and companies stepped up to share the message. Thanks to all the TSW Champions, Partners, and Allies who took the time to get involved. Whether it was a social post, a toolbox talk, or a flyer in a showroom, it matters. It adds up. And it’s a big reason this year’s campaign reached more folks than ever before.

Now, we look ahead to something new.

The first-ever NATM Trailer Expo is headed to Oklahoma City this September, and I’m genuinely excited for it. A brand-new event like this doesn’t come around often, and NATM’s spent months planning and refining the details to make sure it delivers—especially for dealers.

the same challenges. This isn’t filler content—it’s practical, usable info you’ll want to bring home.

And networking? That’s always been one of the best parts of NATM events. These aren’t just handshakes and business cards. They’re the kind of conversations that stick with you—exchanges with people who understand your day-to-day and are genuinely looking to share, learn, and improve.

We’re talking about over 10 hours of real-world education: keynote speakers who know this industry, hands-on demos, workshop tracks led by people with real experience, and roundtables that let you swap ideas with others who’ve faced

Plus, there’ll be a full lineup of trailers under 26,000 lbs. GVWR on display, along with suppliers and service providers who support dealership operations across the country. If you’re looking for what’s next in the industry, you’ll find it here.

To me, the Trailer Expo feels like more than just another event—it’s a step forward. A sign that the dealer program is growing, and that we’re serious about investing in the future of this industry. I can’t wait to be there, and I hope you’ll be there too!

Headquarters REPORT

As we enter the second half of 2025, I want to take some time to look back on NATM’s accomplishments since the start of the year. NATM continues to find ways to grow and adapt to help meet the needs of members and the light- and medium-duty trailer industry. The year started off incredibly well with another successful Convention & Trade Show in Nashville, and we are now deep into preparation for the inaugural Trailer Expo taking place in Oklahoma City from Sept. 15-17. Trailer Safety Week ran from June 1-7 and provided an excellent opportunity for NATM and Trailer Safety Week Allies to share incredibly important information about trailer safety with end users.

Our 2026 Convention in Fort Worth is already off to a great start. Following the incredible successes of our last shows in Fort Worth and Nashville, staff are excited for another incredible show in 2026. NATM Staff have worked hard to open registration now so members can start preparing to attend our annual Convention & Trade Show from Feb. 23-26, 2026. Booth sales have also opened for select sponsors from 2025’s show. Staff and committees are hard at work to finalize our Educational Workshops and Technical Forums. For more information on sponsorship opportunities, registrations, and the 2026 Convention, coverage starts on Page 43.

Our inaugural NATM Trailer Expo also is shaping up to be an incredible event that will bring together manufacturers, suppliers, and trailer dealers to provide education and networking opportunities to our attendees, exhibitors, and staff. NATM was founded in Oklahoma nearly 40 years ago, and I am honored we are able to return to our roots as we welcome and further incorporate trailer dealers into our association. You can find out more about our expo educational lineup on Page 31 and our keynote speakers on Page 33.

Shortly following the Expo, Regulatory Roundup will be taking place Oct. 21-23 in Washington, D.C. With all of the new faces in Congress, NATM has regularly been working with legislators to educate them about the concerns and challenges facing the light- and medium-duty trailer industry. The Government Affairs Committee is continuing to monitor the ever-changing legislative landscape to ensure we are providing advocacy

and education to our members on potential legislation that could impact the light- and medium-duty trailer industry. Our meetings with members of Congress during Regulatory Roundup are an important tool in NATM’s advocacy efforts but are just the first steps in educating legislators about the importance of NATM’s programming. These legislators have a profound impact on the regulatory environment the industry must work within. We encourage members to host plant tours with representatives from their district and sign up to attend Regulatory Roundup to assist with NATM’s advocacy efforts.

NATM remains committed to finding new ways to support our members as we navigate ongoing inflation and market uncertainty. We’re especially excited for members to continue signing up for the NATM Academy, which was developed in collaboration with leading industry experts. The NATM Academy courses were developed with the assistance of members and offer valuable training resources covering both the trailer industry and broader business practices for members of your staff.

Meanwhile, the Board and Finance Committee continue to evaluate and implement goals focused on maintaining financial stability and making smart reinvestments in the Association. These efforts ensure that our benefits, programming, and infrastructure evolve to meet the changing needs of our members. I’m deeply proud of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by our committees in safeguarding NATM’s long-term financial health.

At the heart of NATM is the collective strength of our members. Your engagement fuels our progress and helps enhance safety and success across the light- and mediumduty trailering industry. We understand your time is valuable, but your involvement, whether through surveys, reading Tracks, or communicating with our board, committees, and staff, is vital to shaping the future of our work together.

NATM exists to serve you. Your success and safety are our top priorities. Without your participation and support, there would be no NATM. Thank you for your continued commitment to making our industry stronger and our roads safer. ■

US DOT Seeks Public Input on Federal Regulations

In April 2025, the Department of Transportation (DOT) published a Request for Information (RFI) seeking public comments on current DOT programs or policies that could be eliminated or amended. Specifically, DOT is looking for information regarding any agency rules, regulations, or procedures that could be repealed or made more efficient, consistent with the Administration’s focus on deregulation.

DOT is soliciting comments and information to ensure that DOT administrative actions do not “undermine the national interest and that DOT achieves meaningful burden reduction while continuing to meet statutory obligations and ensure the safety of the U.S. transportation system.”

Written comments and information were requested on or before May 3rd, however, DOT has created a dedicated email inbox, which interested parties can use to identify to DOT—on a continuing basis—existing regulations, guidance, reporting requirements, and other regulatory obligations that they

believe can be modified or repealed, consistent with law.

The President’s February 19th Executive Order, Ensuring Lawful Governance and Implementation of the President’s ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ Deregulatory Agenda stated that “the policy of the Administration is to focus the executive branch’s limited enforcement resources on regulations squarely authorized by constitutional Federal statutes and commence the deconstruction of the overbearing and burdensome administrative state.”

Pursuant to the order, federal agencies are required to identify and report to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) within the Office of Management and Budget on regulations that:

Continued on Page 10

Continued from Page 9

› Are unconstitutional;

› Are unlawful;

› Are not authorized by clear statutory authority;

› Impose significant costs not outweighed by public benefits;

› Harm the national interest; or

› Impede private enterprise and entrepreneurship.

After receiving public comments, OIRA is instructed to consult with agency heads to develop a Unified Regulatory Agenda to rescind or modify identified regulations as appropriate and consider these factors when evaluating potential new regulations.

These steps are intended to help DOT ensure it acts in a “lawful, prudent, and financially responsible manner” in the expenditure of funds, from both public and private sources, and manages appropriately the costs associated with private expenditures required for compliance with DOT regulations.

Members of the public are likely to have useful information

and perspectives on the benefits and burdens of existing requirements and how regulatory obligations may be updated, streamlined, revised, or repealed to better achieve regulatory objectives, while minimizing regulatory burdens, consistent with applicable law. Interested parties may also be well-positioned to identify those regulations, guidance, or reporting requirements that are most in need of reform, and, thus, assist DOT in prioritizing and properly tailoring its review process.

To allow DOT to evaluate suggestions more effectively, DOT is requesting that commenters provide, to the extent possible supporting data or other information such as cost information and specific suggestions regarding repeal, replacement, or modification.

This RFI is a unique opportunity for regulated businesses to think creatively about how changes to existing DOT regulations could help them. This is also an opportunity for stakeholders to reiterate their positions on proposed regulations that are still pending, since the RFI talks about evaluating potential new regulations. There are a wide range of regulations that DOT has responsibility over in the transportation space, even beyond the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), so if there are particular regulations that are deemed extraordinarily burdensome, this is the perfect time to weigh in with those ideas. ■

NATM Political Action Committee

The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) established a Political Action Committee, the NATM PAC, in 2010. The NATM PAC serves to support Members of Congress who support the light- and medium-duty trailer industry and its positions on matters of public policy.

Campaign finance law requires NATM to secure “prior approval” from member companies before soliciting member companies’ executive and administrative personnel, stockholders, and the families of both groups. Member companies may not approve solicitations by more than one trade association in any calendar year. If, on behalf of the company you are authorized to represent, you would like to grant prior approval for the administrative personnel, stockholders, and the families of both groups of your company to be solicited by NATM in calendar year 2025, please complete the prior approval agreement online

using the QR code on this page. Individuals who serve as the company owner, CEO, COO, vice president or senior executives are authorized to sign this form on behalf of his or her company.

Since its inception, over 60 individuals have contributed to the PAC raising nearly $140,000 and those dollars have contributed to more than 80 incumbent campaign committees on both sides of the aisle. The PAC is governed by a Board of Directors comprised entirely of NATM members. The PAC Board is responsible for developing both an annual budget and confirming candidates to whom the PAC will contribute based on specific, established criteria. Having the PAC Board comprised of industry members is a key feature of assuring PAC goals align with industry needs.

To learn more about the PAC, contact NATM PAC Treasurer Alex Stowe at Alex.Stowe@natm.com. ■

Trailer Dealer Focused Philosophy Shapes NATM Trailer Expo Launching 2025

As a member based not-for-profit 501(c)(6) trade organization, the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) is expanding its educational efforts and support of trailer dealers through the launch of the NATM Trailer Expo: The ultimate light- and medium-duty trailering event of the year. Trailer dealers and the NATM Board have stressed the importance of having a show developed specifically for trailer dealers, and the first NATM Trailer Expo will take place later this year in Oklahoma City, Sept. 15-17, 2025.

The NATM Trailer Expo is a newly introduced event specifically tailored to Dealers in the light-and-mediumduty trailer industry. Featuring over 10 hours of educational content aimed at enhancing your trailer business skills, numerous networking opportunities carefully crafted to maximize conversations, and a chance to explore the latest innovations and technologies at our exhibit floor showcasing trailers and other vital dealer vendors - the NATM Trailer Expo is sure to have the resources, expertise, and connections your Trailer Dealership has been looking for.

Trailer Dealer’s Vision, NATM’s Mission

We listened to your feedback! NATM carried out a nationwide

survey with dealers to fully understand the resources and support they need for success. This survey served as a foundation for our dedicated Dealer Committee members. The

“Are you kidding, a whole bunch of trailer manufacturers and dealers under one roof for a massive expo, what’s not to look forward to? I look forward to the Trailer Expo providing the environment and feel that the NATM is as much for dealers as it is for manufacturers, and I think that this type of platform can help with that potential stigma.” — Jeff Wick, Kamper Korner, NATM Dealer Committee

programming for the NATM Trailer Expo has been thoughtfully designed by industry leaders in the trailer dealer industry. NATM is dedicated to fostering a unified trailer industry that includes dealers, consumers, manufacturers, suppliers, OEM vehicle manufacturers, and legislators. The NATM Trailer Expo is just one component of our enhanced Dealer Programming.

As the leader in national towing safety efforts, dealers have long looked to NATM for resources for their customers and their businesses. Over the last decade, NATM has fielded frequent requests to close the gap that exists in the trailer dealer realm regarding reputable education, business resources, and self-governance. As requested, NATM is exponentially expanding its dealer support efforts to address these needs.

Back to Our Roots: Returning to the Beginning

NATM was founded in Chickasha, Oklahoma, in 1987 when five livestock trailer manufacturers unified for better benefits. Nearly 40 years since its inception, NATM is returning to its roots with its first Oklahoma-based event geared specifically for trailer dealers. This event will celebrate the success, growth, and expansion the Association has had over the last four decades leading the industry. Returning “Back to Our Roots” in Oklahoma marks a fresh restart, a full circle, in programming in which NATM launches a new chapter for the trailer industry – this time incorporating trailer dealerships. The launch of The NATM Trailer Expo demonstrates NATM’s understanding of the importance of unifying for the greater

good of the trailer industry – just like the five original founding member companies understood back in 1987.

Embracing a collective vision for advancing end-user towing knowledge, NATM is starting a new chapter of collaboration. The trailer industry is stronger together, and this unification is a major step forward in improving towing traffic safety at all levels, as well as supporting the profitability of its members and affiliates.

Experience Exceptional Education and Explore the Trailer Expo Show Floor

The NATM #TrailerExpo will offer attendees over 10 hours of education through top-notch keynote speakers (see Page 33), two tracks of industry-led workshops, roundtable discussions, and quick hit demos and trainings on the trade show floor.

NATM Events are also known for drawing serious company decision-makers who are focused on making meaningful business connections The #TrailerExpo provides a chance for industry members to unite with a shared objective of industry success, ongoing education, and enhancing their trailer businesses.

Make Lasting Impressions with Expo Sponsorship

The National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) is headed to Oklahoma City for the inaugural 2025 Trailer Expo taking place Sept. 15-17, 2025, and the Association has several sponsorship opportunities available that you don’t want to miss. Sponsoring the NATM Trailer Expo helps the Association’s effort to improve safety and the goal of unifying the industry.

As the only not-for-profit trade organization in the light- and medium-duty trailer industry, the revenue generated from the NATM Trailer Expo will directly fund the NATM Dealer Affiliate programming and benefits. Additionally, NATM is bringing in dealers to help lead programming with representation on the NATM Board of Directors and Dealer Committee.

Not only does sponsoring provide excellent brand exposure and visibility within the light- and medium-duty trailer manufacturing realm, but it also demonstrates your commitment to the industry. If you are looking to reach the decision-makers in the industry, this is the event to make an impression! What better way to market to dealer attendees than to show your support of NATM by sponsoring an item or event at the Trailer Expo?

Whether you’re looking to time the perfect mobile app push notification and drive traffic to your booth or make sure everyone knows that drinks are on you and your company during the trade show reception, the options are endless and so are the lasting impressions you can make during the first-ever Trailer Expo.

The NATM Trailer Expo offers an array of sponsorship opportunities to elevate your brand, including the following sponsorships, which are currently available:

Tow & Tell Demo Theater - $10,000

As a featured destination at the Expo, the Tow & Tell Demo Theater will host expert-led demos, key educational sessions, and networking lunches during Exhibit Hall hours. As a central hub of activity, it offers high traffic and strong visibility— making it a sponsorship opportunity worth claiming.

Registration Desk - $5,500

Your company’s logo and booth number will be the first thing attendees see as they approach the registration desk.

Educational Sessions - $10,000

The Educational Sessions are a highlight of the show, drawing engaged attendees from across the industry. As the sponsor, your company will receive a verbal shout-out before each session begins, showcasing your support for professional development and industry education. Branded table signs will be displayed daily, and you may also provide promotional materials—pens and notepads are always a great choice!

Trade Show Reception Bar - $10,000

This thrilling event promises a feast of delicious bites, laughter, and refreshing beverages on the trade show floor. Sponsor a bar to drive attendees directly to your booth during the reception.

Mobile App - $15,000

Our newly redesigned app is an attendee favorite that saw a record-breaking number of users last year at the Convention! Your company’s logo will be proudly displayed for all app users to see.

Sponsorships play a crucial role in strengthening your marketing strategy. They enable you to connect with a specific and engaged audience, contributing essential financial support to facilitate top-notch education, networking opportunities, and trailer exhibitions. This benefits trailer dealers, manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers specializing in units under 26,000 lbs GVWR. These events showcase a collaborative platform, uniting trailer dealers with trailer manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers offering components and services tailored to enhance the success of dealerships and service departments.

Are the above options listed out of your price range? Don’t worry, NATM has worked hard to provide affordable options for those who still want to make an impact in some way. Options range from $1,000 and up, and all are great opportunities to get you and your company in front of the attendees.

If you have any questions about the 2025 NATM Trailer Expo Sponsorships, contact NATM Events Director Aileen Valido at Aileen.Valido@natm.com or 785-272-4433. ■

Who You’ll See in OKC: Trailer Expo Education Geared Toward Decision-Makers

With the inaugural National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) Trailer Expo fast approaching, it can be hard to know who you should be sending to attend this event. While everyone is welcome at this exciting new event, it isn’t always possible to send the whole team.

NATM has developed an in-depth educational lineup that will benefit those in a higher-level position at your trailer dealership. What does that look like, you may ask? Your dealership owners and leaders, along with upperlevel management, are going to benefit the most when it comes to NATM’s educational offerings at this show.

You can anticipate meeting key decision-makers at this event, as NATM gatherings are renowned for attracting influential company leaders eager to establish significant business relationships. NATM recognizes that companies participate in trade shows and conferences to elevate their business, and attendees are well-equipped to facilitate that growth.

Who else will be at the show? The NATM Trailer Expo is being built specifically to attract:

› Trailer dealers ready to grow and learn

› Fleet and government purchasing agents

› Decision-makers and sales teams from

top manufacturers and OEMs

› Industry-leading suppliers and service partners

With NATM’s special focus on uniting the industry and encouraging networking and management-level education, this show is where relationships are built, deals are made, and the future of the industry is shaped. This show has been curated with you in mind, by dealers just like you who are looking for growth and knowledge on the latest in the industry — where the value of your money is fully seen and experienced.

The NATM Trailer Expo is purposefully crafted to provide a unique experience for dealers in the light- and mediumduty trailer industry. If you’re a trailer dealer contemplating attendance at this exciting new event, what’s holding you back? Concerned about investing in a brand-new show? NATM understands your hesitation! That’s why the Association has introduced the New Dealer Promo specifically for Dealer Affiliates! Discover more about this promotion, valued at over $1,430, on Page 23.

NATM Dives into Performance-Based Brake Testers

Last fall, a customer of a National Association of Trailer Manufacturer’s (NATM) trailer manufacturing member was traveling in Kansas pulling a commercial trailer. The customer was subjected to a field test on the trailer’s braking performance by a Kansas Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Safety Division Officer. The test was administered by a portable unit called a Performance-Based Brake Tester, or PBBT. Unfortunately for the driver, the trailer had one brake with insufficient performance, and the driver received a $150 citation. Fortunately, though, that wheel was the only one, so he was not given a complete out-ofservice (OOS) violation. The officer simply had the driver increase the trailer gain from 8 to 10 on the tow vehicle trailer brake controller before he left the inspection site.

If you have not heard of PBBT before, you are not alone. Recognizing there was a need to better inform members, NATM invited Lt. Joe Green from the Kansas Highway Patrol to discuss more about it at the Jan. 23, 2025, Technology Committee meeting.

In 2006, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) started a discussion on how to fit PBBT into federal regulations, Green says. In 2007, one regulation was adopted, and on April 1, 2008, PBBT results were added to meet other out-of-service criteria used by law enforcement. The machines themselves have been around for about 90 years with almost 150,000 in use worldwide today.

A PBBT “is a device that can assess vehicle braking capability through quantitative measure of individual wheel brake forces or overall vehicle brake performance in a controlled test.” The roller-dyno is the only PBBT (fixed or portable) available for law enforcement use. Calibrated rollers that slowly rotate each wheel end independently with the driver gradually applying the brakes to a full application while remaining stationary is the basic concept. The portable PBBT devices are the versatile tools for roadside enforcement.

The PBBT starts assessing braking capability when the

dynamometer rollers impose rotational motion to the vehicle wheel. With the brakes off, the force to rotate the wheel is measured. This measurement is called rolling resistance. Then the brakes are slowly applied to gradually resist the roller rotation, brake forces and wheel end weights are then measured dynamically. The test concludes when the wheel begins slipping on the roller. The “slip” is captured by a third, smaller speed sensor roller, positioned between the two, larger, dynamometer rollers on the PBBT. As a result, PBBT’s can identify low friction between the brake pad and drum/ disc, inadequate contact area between the pad and drum/ disc, and a low force pressing the pad against drum/disc.

To pass the test, the brake must achieve a minimum performance score of 43.5% per the FMCSR 393.52 (d) table. The formula to determine the percentage is below:

100 X Total Braking Force = % Braking Performance Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW)

GVW for PBBT purposes is the sum of the dynamic wheel loads measured for the test and may or may not be equivalent to the static weight used for other enforcement purposes.

In the case referenced at the beginning, the reason that the driver could continue was the overall braking performance for the trailer measured better than 43.5%. Individual weak, or inoperative brakes will not trigger an OOS violation. An OOS uses the overall braking performance as the determiner.

Currently, there are over 700 inspections annually within the 18 jurisdictions using the PBBT. Light- and mediumduty trailers may be tested more often to meet quotas because they are seen as a “fast inspection.” With that in mind, PBBT testing is limited to commercial vehicles only. However, some drivers aren’t aware they are considered a commercial vehicle and are surprised when subjected to a PBBT as part of a “check lane” review, like what is allowed in Kansas. With more states looking to adopt PBBT, it will not replace a visual inspection but supplement it. ■

I-9 Compliance Tips from Fisher Phillips

This article covers practical tips to apply when considering immigration compliance, reviewing Employment Eligibility Verification Forms (Form I-9), conducting internal checks (internal audits), and anticipating and handling audits by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) with the Department of Homeland Security.

Practical Tips for Immigration Compliance and Audits

If it is not documented. It did not happen. You know the saying, plus, it probably will not happen if it is not written down. First and foremost, it is recommended to have a written I-9 compliance policy to cover I-9 compliance, including training, oversight and responsibility, completion, correction of discrepancies, storage and retention, deletion, security, and audits.

Training, more training, and even more (in-person) training. Having the best practices for ensuring compliance with immigration laws starts with a written policy followed closely by training, and lots of it. If you are not already doing so, consider training all Human Resources staff and team members who interact in any way and at any level with hiring, interviewing, reviewing documentation, and completing, processing, and storing I-9 documentation. Inperson training with real examples of document identification issues can go a long way in empowering your front-line team members to spot documentation issues and respond appropriately if they reasonably suspect there may be a lack of proper work authorization. Remember, something as simple as not copying the front and back of identification can create hours or days of more work down the road.

Everyone is part of the team mentality. If each teammember understands the value of his or her role in the overall success of the company, it may be that the person first meeting an applicant and reviewing documentation takes more time

and gives more care during that process than if he or she never understands the importance of every hiring decision. Relatedly, although E-Verify, an online system that helps employers confirm whether a new hire is eligible for employment, is a tool, use of it is not considered a defense to immigration non-compliance, not a replacement for personal investment in the company’s success, and not a substitute for the training required to be effective in the role of a front-line eligibility screener.

Treat I-9 files like the important documents they are, on an ongoing basis. It is best-practice to store I-9 forms separate and apart from other personnel files. They can be nearby, but it is best if the I-9 forms are in a dedicated space just for I-9 documentation. Go a step further and keep current employee I-9 forms separate from former employee forms. Doing so will also make following the retention requirement easier – remember to retain all I-9s for whichever is later: one year after employment ends or three years after the hire date. Restrict access to these files to appropriate personnel. Regarding reverification, ensure it is done on or before the date that the employee’s work authorization expires and apply reverification steps across all employees for whom it applies in a uniform and consistent way.

Kick the Tires. Your workforce is likely changing over time. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date I-9 records and regularly checking, meaning, self-auditing all I-9 forms and supportive documentation is key to identifying gaps in training, gaps in eligibility verification, and correcting discrepancies using USCIS-recommended procedures. It is recommended to have regularly scheduled intervals for these self-audits as frequent as appropriate depending on workforce, risk exposure, turn-over, ICE audits, and the need to file for any immigration-related extensions.

Stay Ready. Staying ready is one key to decreasing the stress associated with an unexpected ICE audit and the associated response time. ICE will initiate an audit through what is known as a formal “Notice of Inspection.” A Notice requires an employer to provide its I-9 forms within a certain period of time, usually just three days. If there are technical or procedural issues with the documentation provided, there may be time in which to make corrections, and all efforts should be made to comply with that timeframe. ■

NATM to Phase Out Branch Memberships for Associate Members, Dealer Affiliates

As part of the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers’ (NATM) ongoing effort to streamline operations and ensure members receive the greatest value from their investment, the Association is announcing the phase-out of branch memberships for Associate Members and Dealer Affiliates.

With the recent restructuring of NATM membership benefits, it was found that separate branch memberships for these categories no longer offer substantial additional value for members. By simplifying the Association’s dues structure, NATM aims to reduce administrative burden and ensure all members receive a consistent and robust set of benefits through their primary membership.

“Over the past year, NATM has carefully evaluated how our membership structure aligns with the benefits we provide,” said Meghan Ryan, NATM Assistant Director. “Through that process, it became clear that the value offered to Associate Members and Dealer Affiliates is already fully captured through their primary membership. As a result, branch memberships in these categories were often unnecessary. This update allows us to simplify the structure while continuing to deliver meaningful, high-impact support to all our members.”

What’s Changing:

› Beginning Jan. 1, 2026, NATM will no longer

offer new or renewed branch memberships for Associate Members and Dealer Affiliates.

› All benefits previously accessible through branch memberships will continue to be available through the primary membership to the specific company/brand.

No Change for Trailer Manufacturer Members

NATM will continue to offer branch memberships to trailer manufacturer members. Importantly, these locations remain a key part of NATM’s Compliance Verification Program, and the Association will continue to conduct on-site consultations at trailer manufacturer branch locations to support compliance with federal safety regulations and industry standards.

This adjustment is part of NATM’s ongoing commitment to delivering streamlined, memberfocused solutions that support the long-term success of the trailer manufacturing industry.

For more information or questions about how this change may impact your membership, please contact NATM Membership Specialist Kevin Sander at Kevin.Sander@natm.com or 785-272-4433. ■

Pam Daugherty, Co-Owner and CFO of Redfern Dynamics, exemplifies resilience, innovation, and dedication in the trailer manufacturing industry. From navigating the complexities of compliance to building a reputation for safety and quality, Pam has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s success.

A Dynamic Role and Career Evolution

Pam co-founded Redfern Dynamics with her husband Charles in 2016, transforming their consulting company into a pioneering force in mobile kitchen manufacturing. Recognizing the need for quality and safety in trailer production, the couple began building custom trailers from the ground up. Since then, they have dedicated themselves to innovation and excellence, consistently refining their designs and processes to set new standards in the industry.

As CFO, Pam handles the financial operations of Redfern Dynamics while also overseeing procurement. Her background in customer service and a 15-year career in high-end retail management, coupled with her meticulous organizational skills, made her an invaluable asset in growing the family business. Balancing her professional responsibilities with her role as the main caregiver to their eldest son, Pam has seamlessly integrated her personal and professional lives, demonstrating exceptional adaptability and dedication.

Overcoming Challenges and Achieving Excellence

Pam’s journey into the trailer industry was not without its hurdles. Transitioning back into the workforce after years of homeschooling her children required determination and adaptability. Additionally, navigating the complexities of trailer manufacturing, from ensuring legal compliance to staying ahead of industry standards, was a challenge Pam met head-on. She credits the National

Association of Trailer Manufacturers (NATM) for providing invaluable support and resources, allowing Redfern Dynamics to establish itself as a leader in its niche.

In 2021, Pam’s outstanding contributions to the industry were recognized with the Pam O’Toole Trusdale Woman in Manufacturing Award. Their commitment to safety and

innovation was further highlighted when Redfern Dynamics won the NATM Innovation Award in 2024. As a passionate advocate for trailer safety, Pam’s constant involvement and becoming a consistent Trailer Safety Week Champion in initiatives like Trailer Safety Week and her advocacy efforts in NATM’S Regulatory Roundup in Washington, D.C., underscore her dedication to improving industry standards.

Breaking Barriers and Building Community

Pam’s experience as a woman in a predominantly male industry has been empowering. While she acknowledges the underrepresentation of women, she emphasizes the supportive nature of the trailer manufacturing community.

“Don’t be intimidated by the fact that you’re sitting at a table with all men,” she advises. “The industry needs smart, organized, caring individuals, regardless of gender, to make it better for the end user.”

Her advice to women considering a career in manufacturing is clear: lean into opportunities, embrace challenges,

and build connections within the industry. Pam’s leadership and advocacy efforts inspire others to bring their unique strengths to the table, fostering a more inclusive and innovative future for the trailer industry.

Passion Beyond Work

Outside of her professional achievements, Pam’s life revolves around her family and shared adventures with her husband. From tending their garden and raising chickens to exploring botanical gardens and enjoying fine dining, Pam and her husband cherish life’s simple pleasures. Her ability to balance her professional and personal passions exemplifies a life well-lived and deeply appreciated.

Pam Daugherty’s story is one of dedication, innovation, and community. Her story reflects a seamless blend of family values and entrepreneurial spirit. Her leadership at Redfern Dynamics and her advocacy within NATM have left an indelible mark on the trailer industry, paving the way for future generations of women leaders. She reminds us that determination and passion can drive meaningful change in any field. ■

Flooring, Family, and French Fries: Morgan Myers on Stepping into her Role and Stepping up The Source Company

Landing on a start date for people who work for their family’s company is part memory exercise and part guesswork. No one knows that better than The Source Company Vice President Morgan Myers.

Myers did odd jobs during summers off in high school around the original retail shop that sold flooring. While she attended Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, she worked on learning the accounting and bookkeeping side of the business.

Myers met the man who would ultimately become her husband during her freshman year while working toward her marketing degree. She warned him then that she was going to end up back in Mishawaka, Indiana, at the family business. Mishawaka is 200 miles north of Bloomington, Indiana, where the university is located, and just 11 miles west of the major trailer hub of Elkhart.

The Source Company has always been a family affair. It was

founded in 1983 by Myers’ dad and grandparents, Dominic and Maureeta, with her uncle joining in soon after. Myers says she learned the dedication a family business takes from watching all of her family members, but her grandmother in particular.

“When they first started, my grandpa and my dad were out selling, and my grandma would be here cutting carpet in the warehouse. Everyone just did whatever they needed to do because it was just the three of them,” Myers said. “She’s a role model for me, because I saw her do all the jobs. She did the payroll, the HR, all the accounting, sales, warehouse work when she needed to. She never complained. She always just did it and so they were able to retire very happily in 2000 when they turned 60.”

The company is now run by the second and third generations. Myers’ father Mike Caurro is the CEO. Her uncle Steve Caurro is president. The operation manager is her brother Nick Caurro, and her cousin Alyse Myers is the design specialist. That’s a lot of family in the

building and navigating that takes a little finesse.

“I love seeing my family every day and being that close with them. The challenges would be when things can get heated. You don’t want somebody to take something super personally. You walk that line and say, ‘This is about work. This is not personal.’ Honestly, there’s not a whole lot of negatives to me, which is why I like it so much,” Myers said.

Even the family members outside of the company help make it all work. Myers says their spouses help out where they can, like with the kids. They also help rein everyone in when the work follows them home.

“We have a code word when we’re at dinners, and we have to start talking about it. It’s ‘French fry.’ That means ‘enough,’” Myers said. “If somebody’s getting really worked up about something or it’s escalating a bit, then, Nick’s wife or my husband or my mom or somebody will be like, ‘Okay, French fry.’”

It’s not just the family that has a hand in the company’s success. The Source Company has 14 employees, 10 that are not technically family, but Myers says they are honorary members.

“They all feel like family to us because we’re all so close. A lot of them have been here a very long time. We don’t have a high turnover, and everybody just feels like family and are really great to work with,” Myers said. “Everyone manages their own little business unit, if you will, like the warehouse, the truck driver, the controller, customer service. Everyone just knows what they’re doing, so it’s a really good atmosphere.”

This year marks 10 years of Myers being full time at the company. She was named VP in 2022 but learned every facet of the business along the way.

“I started with redoing the website. Then, I did outside sales for a bit. Our controller retired, so I did the controller function, and then, now as vice president, I kind of oversee the finance side of it,” Myers said. “I do payroll, HR, purchasing. You know how small businesses go — a little bit of everything.”

She feels confident now, but says it was a process getting there in this industry. There’s the uniquely female stress of wanting to look professional, but if you dress too feminine in a male-dominated space, you aren’t taken seriously, and this was something Myers warred with when doing plant visits. She still faces instances where people assume she doesn’t know what she’s talking about.

“People will call in to ask a question about the adhesive. I’ll answer, and they’ll say, ‘Oh, I need to talk to somebody who knows about this adhesive,’ as soon as I answer,” Myers said. “Yeah, I can help you with that.”

Myers combats this with being as knowledgeable as she can. She says she read spec sheets front to back. When she didn’t know something, she said so and got back with them after she knew the correct answer.

“Don’t feed them BS. Don’t fake it. This is not the place to fake it till you make it. Just be transparent and be knowledgeable,” Myers said. “And remember that not everyone is going to like you. I think that goes for all areas of the business — women or men. I think that’s just an important thing for younger people to keep in mind.”

While Myers grew more comfortable in her role, the company grew as well. They built a new building in the 90’s next to the original. It’s now been expanded on three times with plans for a fourth for a new showroom. They’ve expanded beyond only selling local and now ship cross country.

“When Nick and I came on board, we’re like, well, we don’t have to just sell to Elkhart. We can LTL ship these roles across the country,” Myers said. “They’re 8-foot-long rolls. They’re huge. They’re heavy. How do you do that? But we figured it out and that’s all because of NATM, really.”

The Source Company doesn’t typically attend trade shows due to their small size. Myers says attending the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers’ (NATM) Convention & Trade Show, however, allows them to catch up with existing customers, connect with new potential customers, as well as form lucrative partnerships, like with distributors.

“I can’t say, ‘This month we got X amount of new business from it.’ It’s too soon to tell, but I felt like a lot of connections were made, and historically, over the last seven years, we figured out that we’ve come up with new business, almost half a million dollars a year,” Myers said. “It’s definitely worth it, and it’s a good investment. We’ve really enjoyed being a part of the organization, and we would encourage anyone that we come across really to join and to be there as well.”

The Source Company was especially excited to visit the Nashville Convention. They were able to drive in and therefore stepped up their booth presentation.

“We had two pop-up banners. We were fancy and we took panels of our flooring on plywood board pieces. We don’t typically do the whole shipping a pallet thing. Normally, we roll up with a suitcase full of samples and our poster,” Myers said. “We’re a small business, and we just don’t. We’re not one of the big corporations. We can’t do that. So, this year had the flooring down on the floor. It was cool.”

Myers has attended six of the last seven NATM Conventions. She says the growth they’ve attained from the show is of course great, but getting to know the customers better also is a key part of the event.

“In the day-to-day it’s always so busy. You’re just trying to get people answers and answer emails and process orders as fast as possible so there’s not a lot of time for that personal connection,” Myers said. “That’s honestly one of my favorite things about NATM is trying to make those connections and have the face-to-face time together.”

Midwest Roots Allow Innovation to Bloom at Timpte

At Timpte Inc., the motto is “Built for Life.” But that doesn’t mean they are stuck in their ways. This past year especially, the company has been the face of innovation.

April 2025 marked the opening of the Timpte Lincoln Manufacturing Center. This facility allows the company to ship out parts within 48 hours whether it be to end users or dealerships. It also is home to the company’s Thunderstone Manufacturing division, which makes trailer tarps and other trailer accessories, and the Lincoln Marine division, which focuses on aluminum dock accessories and automatic boat tarping systems. The equipment trailer division was moved down to this location from David City, Nebraska, as well.

This may sound like a lot – because it is. The new Lincoln Manufacturing Center is 190,000 square feet. It houses a state-of-the-art automated tarp assembly machine and a full paint powder coat system.

“It can do the sandblasting and the painting and the drying, and all that. So full powder coat paint system,” said Timpte Marketing Manager Samantha King. “At some point, there’s going to be 30 to 60 additional potential employees. On the equipment trailers, we’re going to be able to go from only producing 4 or 5 a day based on the configuration to 11 to 12 a day – so basically doubling. We put additional laser systems in, so all of our throughputs going to be able to increase on everything.”

The facility opened in the afterglow of another milestone. Timpte Inc. was named the 2024 Nebraska Manufacturer of the Year by the Nebraska Chamber. The award recognizes a Nebraska manufacturer that implements innovative ways to conduct business using products, processes, technologies and other strategies.

“The Nebraska Chamber’s Manufacturer of the Year award celebrates a company that continuously betters its community and Nebraska’s overall economy, which is exactly what Timpte does,” Nebraska Chamber COO and EVP of Manufacturing Mike Johnson said in a press release. “Timpte embodies what it means to be a Manufacturer in Nebraska, from its state-of-the-art facility to being a competitive and desired place to work. We’re

Photos provided by Timpte.

thrilled to honor Timpte as this year’s Manufacturer of the Year.”

Executive leaders and managers attended the annual NE Chamber Manufacturing Summit, where Timpte was presented the award by Senator Pete Ricketts.

“It’s a huge recognition for the dedication that our team puts in to build our products. We have over 600 employees in total with about half of those being factory employees. Our team is very dedicated to the work that they do,” King said. “They love hearing back from the customers. They take pride in what they do, seeing the product at work, knowing that it fits the customers’ needs and it is going to work for them. We’re all proud to be a part of a company that has been around for 140 years, so it’s truly a recognition of what people put in day in and day out in a small rural town of Nebraska.”

While the company began in Denver, Colorado, in 1884, they have been based out of David City since 1980. In 1988, it switched to solely focusing on manufacturing its Super

Hopper aluminum agricultural trailer. In 2019, Timpte created a semi-trailer specific for the frac sand industry, mainly in the Permian basin. It’s a single hopper, heavy duty, aluminum trailer for the fracking industry or for other heavy-duty commodities like silica sand and aggregates.

“We now have the number one selling bottom drop trailer for that specific industry,” King said. “Before, it was a lot of pneumatic trailers. It’s really transitioning, and that’s been a big use for safety down there - especially with the harsh conditions that they have.”

Then, in 2020, Timpte launched its equipment trailer division with one main model type. Now the company boasts seven different models with the hopes to double that in the new facility. Even with all these new product innovations, they remain the number one selling dry bolt commodity trailer in North America. King says they hope their future looks like their present. By staying true to themselves, the only way is up.

“We’re a company founded on innovating transportation to help people move materials more efficiently and more effectively,” President and CEO Tim Carpenter said in a press release. “Headquartered in David City, we take our Midwestern roots seriously, applying solid manufacturing principles and state-of-the-art technology to produce the industry’s best dry bulk commodity and equipment trailers.”

“We are just going to continue reinvesting in our people, in our processes to make sure that customer needs are satisfied,” King said.

Timpte Inc. has been a member of the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers since 2020. To learn more about them, visit www.Timpte.com. ■

The Dog Days of Summer

It’s heating up outside, but there’s no better way to cool off than to sit back, relax, and meet a few NATM dogs putting in those long summer hours. They deserve a round of a-paws! ■

UPPER RIGHT: Meet Bentley, SteelPoint’s beloved Chief Morale Officer! This English Bulldog takes his role seriously—greeting team members with tail wags, supervising shop activity, and keeping spirits high throughout the day. Bentley enjoys lounging near the front office (ideally under a sunny window) and never misses the opportunity to inspect a trailer or nap beside a freshly delivered part. He does not appreciate being left out of important meetings or conference calls and considers them the most opportune time for a deep, strategic nap.

LOWER RIGHT: NATM HQ’s very own office dog is Lilibit! She just turned one and loves coming to the office with mom, NATM Bookkeeper Sherry Palmeroni. She is very social and enjoys greeting her coworkers, begging for treats, and sitting on mom’s lap while they crunch numbers.

LEFT: Dozer and Ginger, of The Trailer Guy, LLC, are litter mates and 11 years old. When they head into work, they love to greet customers, move trailers around the yard with dad, and supervising jobs. On their off days they love to go boating.

These Cane Corsos (Italian Mastiffs) are the resident good dogs of Erica Matthews at Optronics International, who says they are the absolute best. They are very intelligent (almost too smart, mom says), weigh anywhere from 120-140 lbs, are very athletic, and also the biggest babies! Top left is Star. Top right is Mack. and on the bottom left is Ace.

UFP Industries and UFP Factory Built: Delivering Global Strength and Custom Solutions for the Cargo Trailer Industry

One of the cargo trailer industry’s long-standing and most powerful solutions providers may also be among its best kept secrets.

Parent company UFP Industries (NASDAQ: UFPI) was founded in 1955 and over 70 years has emerged as a premier supplier of cargo trailer products. The company is a North American leader in treated lumber and engineered wood, structural components and building materials across the construction, retail and packaging sectors. Executive Vice President Chad Eastin of UFP Factory Built and Cargo division National Director of Sales Mike Sauserman sat down to discuss the organization’s approach to business, product portfolio, latest news developments and future direction.

Q: The Cargo Trailer division falls within UFP Factory Built,

correct? Can you give us an overview of UFP Factory Built?

EASTIN: UFP Factory Built focuses on structural solutions to help our OEM customers increase efficiency, reduce material waste and grow their businesses. Our mission is to provide high-quality, factory-built structural solutions that ensure strength, durability, and consistency across the board to expedite manufacturing on the assembly line, while delivering unmatched buying power and sourcing to benefit our partners. We strive to align ourselves with our customers’ needs through a wide-ranging and creative product mix.

We possess an outstanding talent pool of operations, procurement, engineering, sales, marketing and customer support teams. Many team members have decades of industry experience, including experts with deep knowledge of both wood and wood alternative solutions.

Q: You reference high-quality structural solutions. What’s special about your processes and/or quality control measures that are distinguishable in the marketplace?

EASTIN: We offer a diverse mix of UFP manufactured products and other essential third-party components to help

our customers build quality solutions from one source.

Our structural components adhere to strict quality controls that are built to exact, manufacturer-mandated specifications to fit a certain model type. Our rigorous in-house testing process ensures that the product meets our partners’ quality requirements, including dimensions and strength.

Q: Tell us about your specific UFP Factory Built product offerings that are specifically engineered for the cargo trailer segment.

SAUSERMAN: We provide essential components used in the construction of cargo trailers, including floor and wall panels along with lightweight and highly durable roofing solutions.

One of the most popular product offerings in our portfolio with especially high demand is LIGHTLID™, a translucent roofing product that allows natural light within the cargo trailer interior, without compromising design strength or product integrity. This design innovation came as the result of our team’s extensive research, testing and collaboration with multiple trailer manufacturers to understand desirable features as well as pain points. Built from 100% recyclable thermoplastic composite materials, the LIGHTLID has been thoroughly put through the paces and is certified to perform as specified over an aging life of 35,000 hours with zero impact on top layer, substrate and overall integrity. The roof materials are punctureand impact-resistant against hail, debris, tree limbs and other forces of nature. LIGHTLID is exceptionally lightweight, easy to handle, is safer and more efficient to install compared to traditional roofs and includes a standard 5-year warranty.

Our SuperStratum™ Floor Panels offer highly durable cargo flooring and work surface, a favorite among car haulers and snow mobile trailers. The quad tread design is engineered for

extreme abrasion and impact resistance: it won’t rot, crack, shrink or warp like unprotected wood deck alternatives.

Finally, our Engineered Structural Panels (ESP) are used as both floor and/or wall panels and feature a stronger core and moistureresistant design, delivering essential stability for rugged use. Their internal composition of high-quality wood chips and 100% MDI resin is resistant to twisting, cupping, cracking, warping and delamination, with a one-year warranty against defect and rot.

Our distribution arm - UFP Distribution - complements our core solutions with additional products and components needed to complete the build including energy storage, power converters and inverters, tapes, adhesives, hardware and underlays.

Q: How is your sales team organized to support Cargo Trailer manufacturers (OEMs)?

SAUSERMAN: Both our sales team and our facilities are positioned in the field across America, strategically located to be close to the OEMs we service. Our team is well versed regarding our product offerings and is highly engaged with customers. We are always seeking opportunities to collaborate and discuss new product ideas and improvements and encourage input from our valued partners.

Q: Are there any special services or support programs for Cargo Trailer OEMs?

SAUSERMAN: As noted, we are very attuned to our OEM customers and meet regularly to discuss new products and process development. These highly interactive sessions cover all phases of operation, from marketing to engineering and everything in between. Our team isn’t here to simply take orders and transact a sale … we’re here to listen, learn and to partner with our customers to maximize their investment and success.

In addition, we offer extensive OEM purchasing programs and options, along with marketing and engineering support programs.

As long-time members and advocates of industry associations NATM and NATDA, our experts are featured presenters at many key customer events where we are pleased to share critical product knowledge with customers and dealers alike.

The combination of our large-scale buying power, strategically located warehouses and internal logistics network prevent critical supply chain disruptions. Should an unforeseen event or disaster occur in a geographic region, we are able to quickly tap other facilities within our expansive network to ensure our OEMs’ supplies and assembly lines are not impacted.

Q: Besides your strong product offering and solutionsbased approach to business, are there any other major benefits associated with your organization?

EASTIN: With our multi-faceted business model and buying power, along with our logistics and infrastructure, financial backing and diversity of operations, we are better insulated against economic, natural or geopolitical volatility. Our size, scope and customer service allow our partners to operate efficiently and on the OEM front, to keep their assembly lines humming.

Q: Is your company engaged in practicing/promoting sustainability?

EASTIN: We strive to be good neighbors wherever we call home. At UFP Industries, we recycle our waste including sawdust and other wood fibers which amount to about 25,000 tons annually. We use recycled materials to produce ancillary wood products or sell to others such as biomass companies. Our commitment to sustainability is shared across UFP Industries and more fully addressed in our corporate Governance Report.

Q: What’s next on the horizon for UFP Factory Built, and specifically the Cargo business?

EASTIN: As a top leader in quality and customer service, we are striving to ‘go further and faster’ than ever before.

We are committed to actively researching and developing innovative products to solve our customers’ most challenging problems. For example, in addition to the high-quality wood products for which we are known, we are also well underway and invested in developing newer wood alternative solutions.

We are also expanding our custom product design capabilities, a practice which clearly sets us apart from the competition.

We are also well underway on the launch of an exciting new house brand of structural solutions which we expect to announce in early fall, with further updates throughout the calendar year.

We believe we have the best people in the industry, and we plan to continue our employee education programs and add new talent as we grow. In addition, our company’s leadership supports our budgeted capital investments and desire to acquire to drive shareholder value and return to investors.

SAUSERMAN: Another major differentiator includes our strong marketing collaboration and support we provide for our OEM partners. Our team continues to make major investments in marketing to better educate customers about the quality of products and components we provide that are used throughout the construction process. We work closely with our partners to help create awareness about the enhanced quality of materials used so that their customers can clearly discern and value the difference. Utilizing multiple marketing platforms and tools including videos, in-trailer signs, posters, flyers and other custom marketing content, we are actively creating a powerful marketing arsenal to demonstrate how our cargo products deliver on the performance promises we make.

We look forward to working closely with our Cargo partners in a very exciting future ahead! ■

Press Releases

Felling Trailers Delivers Custom Mobile Solution for FireLake Manufacturing’s Incinerator Unit

SAUK CENTRE, Minn. – FireLake Manufacturing of Hutchinson, MN, manufactures incinerators and crematoriums, serving the medical, veterinary, and law enforcement sectors. FireLake’s product line offers a wide range of load capacities with sixteen different chamber sizes and numerous customization options. Their units are capable of incinerating two hundred to sixteen hundred pounds of waste at a time, depending on the user’s needs and the model selected. FireLake’s president, Kent Wischmann, recognized an emerging demand for mobile incinerator units and sought a partner to develop a custom trailer solution for their Model X incinerator. The smaller-scale mobile unit would expand market opportunities for the Minnesota-based incinerator manufacturer.

The Challenge

The mobilized Model X incinerator unit would serve two key markets: law enforcement and veterinary services. Law enforcement agencies needed a secure way to destroy drug evidence on-site without transportation risks, while veterinary clinics sought flexible solutions to serve multiple locations. This market opportunity required FireLake to find a partner who could design a trailer specifically engineered to support their A850XMBL-2D-SC2-X4100 DIESEL OIL incinerator with its 27 cubic foot capacity.

The Solution

Familiar with Felling Trailers’ reputation for quality custom manufacturing, FireLake contacted Felling for assistance with their mobilization project. “Our (FireLake’s) incineration system would require specific structural support for transport,” stated Wischmann. The design would also need to incorporate user safety, providing adequate space on the platform (deck) for users to move around and operate the incinerator unit. Kent collaborated with TJ Schwartz, Felling Trailers OEM sales manager, throughout the custom build process, ensuring all details were considered, from wiring protection to equipment layout. “This project was a custom build from the ground up,“ stated Schwartz. “Felling’s custom design support and options were essential to our needs. The ability to send and receive drawing files during the design process was efficient and seamless. Communication between their (Felling’s) engineering team and our design department was excellent,” said Kent.

The engineering team at Felling carefully considered every aspect of the design, with particular attention to the suspension system and weight distribution relative to the equipment layout, which FireLake identified as “very important to the final design.” The resulting trailer features dual 6K torsion axles, offering adequate support for the

heavy load while ensuring a smooth ride during transport.

The Result

The finalized mobile unit combines FireLake’s Model X incinerator technology with Felling’s custom trailer engineering. The trailer solution provides FireLake with a mobile platform allowing their customers to:

• Transport incineration capabilities directly to needed locations

• Facilitate secure on-site destruction of sensitive materials for law enforcement

• Enable veterinary clinics to serve multiple locations with a single unit

• Expand FireLake’s market reach with a differentiated product offering

“Felling is great to work with on special needs. They look for the ‘how-to’ solutions,” added Kent from FireLake Manufacturing.

The partnership demonstrates Felling Trailers’ ability to create custom OEM solutions that precisely meet specialized transportation requirements, even for complex industrial equipment like FireLake’s incinerators. ■

Stellar Expands NXT Series with Versatile New NXT24 and NXT30 Hooklifts

GARNER, Iowa — Stellar Industries, a 100% employeeowned and -operated manufacturer of high-quality mechanic and service trucks, service cranes, service truck and van accessories, tire trucks and manipulators, hooklifts, fuel and lube trucks, trailers and more, is excited to announce the launch of the NXT24 and NXT30 Hooklifts, two new models to augment Stellar’s highly successful NXT Hooklift Series. Designed to meet the growing needs of the waste, government and construction industries and beyond, the NXT24 and NXT30 offer the same reliability and innovation that Stellar is known for, with additional configurations and capacities that provide greater versatility for a wide range of applications.

“The NXT Hooklift Series continues to bring new energy to our customers, and we’re excited to now offer the NXT24 and NXT30 to the market,” said Tim Worman, Director of Product Management at Stellar. “These new models are designed to fill the gap for customers who need different load capacities and more flexibility in terms of container lengths and hook heights. They are ideal for operators looking to streamline their operations and improve productivity.”

Power and Versatility for Every Job

The NXT24 and NXT30 models both feature Short (S), Medium (M) and Long (L) options, designed to fit various container lengths and hook heights to suit different operational needs. This marks the first time Stellar has utilized the S, M and L system, offering more customization than ever before. While the Medium configuration is now available, the Short and Long versions will be released later in 2025.

The NXT24 offers a capacity of 24,000 lbs. The NXT24S model supports an adjustable hook height of 36” to 54” and is available with container lengths ranging from 10’ to 14’. The NXT24M is designed for 12’ to 16’ containers and offers adjustable hook heights of 36” to 54” or 54” to 62”. The NXT24L is ideal for longer containers, ranging from 14’ to 18’, with an adjustable hook height of 54” to 62”.

The NXT24 offers flexibility for a range of tasks in a multitude of markets. Additionally, depending on local regulations, the NXT24 may be operable without a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), making it an accessible option for businesses and operators looking to expand their fleet.

The NXT30, with a capacity of 30,000 lbs., provides additional flexibility. The NXT30S model, with adjustable hook heights of 36” to 54”, accommodates containers from 10’ to 14’ in length. The NXT30M offers two adjustable hook height options of 36” to 54” or 54” to 62”, with container lengths from 12’ to 16’. For even longer containers, the NXT30L model supports containers from

14’ to 18’ with an adjustable hook height of 54” to 62”.

Both the NXT24 and NXT30 models offer industryleading lost load heights. The Short and Medium versions of both hooklifts provide an 8” lost load height, while the Long version offers a 9” lost load height.

Key Features of the NXT24 and NXT30 Hooklifts

The NXT24 and NXT30 Hooklifts continue the legacy of the NXT Series by offering the same advanced features and intuitive controls that have made other models in the NXT Series so popular. These features streamline operations, improve productivity and ensure reliable performance across a variety of tasks.

Both the NXT24 and NXT30 come equipped with a universal body latching system that offers complete flexibility. This system emphasizes flexibility with bolt-on inside or outside locks that can be moved easily on pre-drilled rails to accommodate bodies with incorrectly positioned locks. This eliminates the need for cutting, welding or repainting, making the system more versatile and efficient.

To further enhance flexibility, the NXT24 and NXT30 feature bolt-on body saddles and a universal hydraulic reservoir. The body saddles are roller-style to reduce the amount of friction between the container rails and the saddles when loading or offloading a container and can be positioned to best support the container. The universal hydraulic reservoir can be mounted in various positions on the unit to avoid interference with chassis components. This feature simplifies the installation process, ensuring that the hydraulic reservoir does not cause any issues with other parts of the truck.

Stellar is also excited to announce a new patent-pending feature for the NXT lineup. WasteExpo show attendees will get an exclusive first look at the new feature.

To make the entire operation smoother and faster, Stellar has soft-stop features on the lift cylinder. This allows the body to be gently brought to a resting position on the body saddles.

For operational convenience, the NXT24 and NXT30 offer the option of cable control, air control, electronic joystick or electronic radio remote controls. These controls allow for proportional control, providing users with the ability to operate the hooklift with precision in a variety of situations. The radio remote control feature is a standout, allowing operators to control the unit either from the chassis cab or from outside the cab, offering greater flexibility in various working environments.

Continued on Page 84

From Small-Town Roots to Global Impact: Stellar Celebrates 35 Years

GARNER, Iowa — Stellar Industries, a 100% employee-owned and -operated manufacturer of high-quality mechanic and service trucks, service cranes, service truck and van accessories, tire trucks and manipulators, hooklifts, fuel and lube trucks and trailers, celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, marking a legacy of innovation, growth and customer-centric service.

Founded in 1990 by three ambitious entrepreneurs — Francis Zrostlik, Jim Vlaanderen and Gary Bomstad — Stellar began its journey as the first U.S. company to design and manufacture a domestic hydraulic hooklift. Over the past three and a half decades, Stellar has grown from a small-town operation in Garner, Iowa, to a global force in the construction, waste and work truck industries.

“We are incredibly proud of the 35 years of progress Stellar has made,” said Dave Zrostlik, President of Stellar. “What began as a small, dedicated team working tirelessly to create reliable, high-quality products has evolved into a company that impacts industries across the globe. Our employees have been the key to our success. Some of them have been with us

since the very early days of the company’s existence, bringing their passion and expertise to every product we create. The company’s accomplishments reflect their hard work and the relationships we’ve built with our customers and distributors.”

A Legacy of Innovation and Leadership

Stellar’s journey has been marked by groundbreaking products and innovations. In 1999, the company introduced its first telescopic service crane, which quickly became a game-changer. Since then, Stellar has continually expanded its product portfolio, offering market-leading solutions such as patented aluminum mechanic truck bodies, tire handling equipment, hooklifts and more.

In 2023, Stellar achieved a monumental milestone by becoming 100% employee owned. The transition to 100% employee ownership has further deepened the sense of commitment and pride within the workforce, allowing

each team member to directly benefit from the company’s growth and achievements. Stellar now has more than 800 employee-owners, each of whom is integral to the company’s day-to-day operations and long-term strategy.

“This transition to 100% employee ownership was a gamechanger for us,” said Zrostlik. “This shift has further cemented a culture of accountability and shared success, where everyone is aligned in driving Stellar forward. It’s a powerful incentive for excellence because every employee has a personal stake in our continued success.”

Growth from the Ground Up with Stellar’s Own Manufactured Equipment and Strategic Acquisitions

Since its founding, Stellar has not only built a strong foundation through the design and manufacturing of its own equipment but has also grown through strategic acquisitions that have fueled its expansion.

Stellar has strategically acquired other like-minded companies to broaden its product offerings and strengthen its position within the industry. These acquisitions have allowed Stellar to expand into new markets and further solidify its leadership in the work truck solutions sector.

One of the most significant acquisitions in recent years was the purchase of Elliott Machine Works of Galion, Ohio, another rural American-based company that shares Stellar’s commitment to quality. By bringing Elliott Machine Works into the Stellar portfolio of products, the company added a renowned line of fuel trucks, lube trucks, water trucks, lube skids, vacuum tanks and other mobile service equipment. This acquisition not only expanded Stellar’s reach into new markets but also aligned with its core values of providing reliable, durable equipment that meets the evolving needs of industries across the globe.

Expanding Globally, Staying Rooted in Community

Though Stellar’s roots are firmly planted in the heartland of America, the company’s impact is felt on a global scale.

The company was recently recognized with the prestigious E Award for exports, honoring its success in expanding its global footprint. Stellar’s presence at bauma 2025 in Germany, marking the company’s first appearance at the international exhibition, reflects its growing reach.

Alongside its global growth, Stellar has remained deeply committed to its local community. The company’s foundational values are rooted in the belief that success should benefit not only the business but the area it calls home. Since its 30th anniversary, Stellar has made several significant contributions to the community. These include the donation of a collaborative robot (cobot) to North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) to enhance its advanced manufacturing program. Additionally, Stellar’s commitment to local youth is evident in the development of the Stellar Sports Complex, a state-of-the-art facility that provides opportunities for recreational sports and community engagement. By investing in the development of its local infrastructure, Stellar has helped ensure that its success not only benefits the company but fosters growth, education and opportunity for future generations in Garner and beyond.

Looking to the Future

As Stellar celebrates this notable anniversary, Zrostlik looks ahead with excitement. “Reaching 35 years is an incredible milestone, but we’re not stopping here,” said Zrostlik. “We’re continuously looking for new challenges and ways to improve. The future is bright, and we’re ready to take on the next problem and find innovative solutions for it.”

CTS Custom Trailers Delivers First Aluminum Hydraulic Tilt Trailer for HighPerformance Catamarans

MUSCATINE, Iowa — CTS Custom Trailers is proud to announce the successful delivery of its first allaluminum hydraulic tilt trailer to Performance Boat Center and Performance Powerboats for the latest P420 — a next-generation high-performance catamaran.

Traditionally, tilt trailers for performance catamarans have

been constructed from steel and hot-dip galvanized prior to painting to combat corrosion. While effective, this process often leaves a rough finish beneath the paint, and corrosion can still develop over time without proper maintenance.

CTS has reimagined this standard by introducing an aluminum tilt trailer that combines durability with a

cleaner, more refined appearance. The result is a lowmaintenance trailer that naturally resists rust, maintains structural integrity, and preserves its aesthetic over time.

This first-of-its-kind aluminum hydraulic tilt trailer features a fully reinforced and ballasted frame designed for optimal safety and balance. It includes an aluminum gooseneck frame with an oversized integrated toolbox and a dedicated control box for the electronic and hydraulic systems.

Additional premium features include:

• 12K electric/hydraulic tongue jack

• Triple 8K galvanized torsion axles with 8-lug Air-Tight hubs

• 17.5” forged Alcoa wheels with commercial-grade tires

• Mounted spare with spare hub assembly

• Full-length decking

• Side marker LED lighting every 3 feet

• Dual pairs of stop/tail/turn lights

• DOT-compliant strobes

• DOT-compliant tie-downs

• Upgraded bow ladder

• Custom SeaDek package

CTS Custom Trailers will offer aluminum tilt trailers on a limited basis for select high-performance catamaran models.

“Our team continues to push innovation forward in both design and build quality,” said Jon Smiley, VP of Sales for CTS Custom Trailers. “We’re excited to deliver this first aluminum tilt to such a respected partner in Performance Boat Center and Performance Powerboats, and we look forward to future collaborations.”

SAUK CENTRE, Minn. – Felling Trailers, a leading manufacturer of industrial and commercial trailers, is pleased to announce the addition of two experienced sales professionals to its team: Terry Wojick as the Northeast Regional Sales Manager and Justin Williamson as the North Central/Inside Sales.

Terry Wojick brings over a decade of expertise in heavy equipment operation, transportation, and sales. Prior to joining Felling Trailers, he held several key positions that contributed to his extensive knowledge and skills in the industry. Most recently,

he worked as a territory sales representative for Vermeer All Roads, where he became familiar with Felling Trailers’ highquality product line. Based in Upstate New York, Terry will be responsible for all sales development, activities, and dealer support in the following states: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.

“I chose to join Felling Trailers because I have previously sold their trailers and remember how high-quality and well-built they are,” Wojick said. “I’ve been involved in the equipment industry for a long time, and it’s a passion of mine. I have experience in both inside and outside sales, and with Felling, I finally get the chance to work directly for a manufacturer. I love the close-knit culture of the company and appreciate how it remains grounded in its roots—receiving a handwritten note from the CEO welcoming me to the team was something I had never experienced before.”

Jake Meyer, Felling Trailers’ sales manager, believes Terry’s real-world experience with heavy equipment will significantly benefit interactions with dealers and end users. “Terry’s background is invaluable; having run the equipment himself, he understands how crucial it is to have the right trailer for transportation,” stated Meyer.

Justin Williamson brings over fourteen years of sales and service experience, successfully building strong customer relationships and driving growth across diverse markets in greater Minnesota. He began his career in the equipment industry in 2021 as the new business development manager for Erskine Attachments LLC, a Minnesota-based manufacturer with a broad product line of attachments for skid steers, mini skid steers, and compact tractors. “For the last 4.5 years, I sold skid steer attachments, and many of my former customers were Felling dealers who always had great things to say about the brand,” said Williamson. Justin will focus on sales development,

dealer support, and inside sales throughout the Upper Midwest, including Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Familiar with the area, Justin and his wife recently relocated to the Sauk Centre area, having previously visited family nearby. Seeing the company’s strong community involvement and being a familyowned business, Justin felt it was the right fit for him. “I’ve always heard positive things about Felling Trailers from both current and past employees. They manufacture a quality product that people can stand behind, and I’m thrilled to join the sales team,” he stated. “We are excited to have Justin as part of our sales team,” said Jake Meyer, sales manager at Felling Trailers. “With his years of experience and commitment to serving customers and dealers, we are confident that he will be a valuable addition to our team.”
