Old salt trucks replaced

“Smart”salt trucks commissioned

Walvis Bay Salt commissioned the first three of five smart salt trucks on Monday, ushering in a new era for salt transportation between the salt works and the port of Walvis Bay. The trucks are hi-tech, performance based vehicles that will greatly reduce the impact on the town’s road infrastructure, noise pollution, and with less emissions. Walvis Bay Salt is the first in Africa to commission these trucks. So efficient are these trucks, that five can do the work the entire fleet of ten links did in the past, and daily trips between the salt mine and the port is cut by 50 % The trucks carry 64 tons of salt in one haul, compared to the old fleet of interlinks that carried 34 tons per haul. See the full media statement on the commissioning of the trucks on page 2 today’s edition.

Walvis Bay pays tribute to Fuel attendant caught in the traffic officer Erastus Victor act cloning client’s bank card Despite swift action N$8000-00 withdrawn from victim’s account

Walvis Bay mourns the passing of one of its traffic officers, officer Erastus Victor, who passed away recently of Covid-19. Law enforcers and emergency services took part in a drive-by memorial for the late Victor at his home in Narraville on Wednesday afternoon. More pictures on page 2

A fuel attendant of Walvis Bay is in custody and is soon to appear in the magistrate's court on a charge of theft, after he was caught red handed this week using a scanning device to clone a client's bank card. Despite the fact that bank cards have a chip-and-pin feature, that makes card cloning difficult, the criminals seem to be staying one step ahead. The shocked victim spoke to Namib Times shortly after the incident this week. He explained he arrived at a certain fuel station to refuel his vehicle. When he presented his bank card, the fuel attended turned around and it was clear he was fiddling in his pocket. Continued on page 2

No bail for man who killed his girlfriend Sharlien Tjambari The 26-year-old man of Swakopmund, who was arrested for the alleged killing of his girlfriend on Saturday, remains in custody and will make a next appearance in the town's magistrate's court on 23 August this year. Continued on page 2

Card cloner Continues from front page The customer sensed something is wrong and confronted the fuel attendant. Subsequently a card scanner was found on the attendant. Despite the fact that the victim contacted the police, whom arrived at the fuel station promptly to arrest the suspect, an amount of N$8000-00 was nonetheless withdrawn from the victim's account. At his bank, he was advised to entirely close his account and to open a new account, as the cloned card already compromised his pin code and other crucial personal information.

Media Statement:

Five smart trucks replace entire fleet of salt trucks In its ongoing quest to optimise transport efficiencies, Walvis Bay Salt has partnered with Unitrans Namibia to introduce new Performance Based Standards (PBS) vehicles, or smart trucks, to move salt from its processing plant south of Walvis Bay to the port. The new PBS vehicles became officially operational Monday 18 July 2021. The company transports annually in the order of 600 000 tons of processed product to the port of Walvis Bay for exports to various markets internationally. The new fleet of 5 PBS vehicles will replace the previous fleet of 10 interlink trucks, reducing the daily number of trips by nearly half to less than fifty. According to Walvis Bay Salt Holdings' Managing Director Andre Snyman, the introduction of the new PBS vehicles is aimed at promoting safety, innovation and efficiency in transport. “Together with Unitrans Namibia we are the first company on the continent that has embraced this new A – double PBS transport technology; now we are bringing this to Walvis Bay.” The new trucks were designed and built by AFRIT in South Africa, a BUD Group sister company of Walvis Bay Salt, and boasts a payload of 64 ton compared to the 34 ton of the current interlink trucks. It is slightly longer at 27 metres as opposed to the 22-metre length of the current trucks. In total 5 new trucks will be introduced. Apart from a drastic reduction in the number of daily trips, the new A-Double Side Tipper trucks

also offer various other benefits including less load bearing on the road, better turning, less spilling, and a higher rollover stability. During January 2021 Walvis Bay Salt sponsored the upgrading of the surface at the intersection of Nangolo Mbumba Drive and 5th Road with a brick surface as part of a public – private partnership with the municipality of Walvis Bay. The PBS project was undertaken in partnership with Unitrans Namibia, the long-standing logistics partner of Walvis Bay Salt. The Roads Authority of Namibia and the local Walvis Bay Municipality have granted the necessary approvals to operate the vehicles on the same route as is currently being used. Walvis Bay Salt Holdings (Pty) Ltd, through its various subsidiaries, is the largest producer of solar sea salt in sub-Saharan Africa. Apart from its strategic location with direct access to principal international shipping routes through the Port of Walvis Bay, the company's focus on efficiency of freight and logistics has been central to its success in the southern African market.

Pre-Primary, Grade 1 and 8 open for 2022 enrollment

Continues from front page

Parents in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund can enrol their pre-primary, grade 1 and grade 8 learners for the 2021 academic year in Government schools.

Allen Antonius Fredericks is accused of having stabbed his girlfriend, Chriselda Smith (38) with a kitchen knife in public and in full view of her two friends, killing her instantly. The murder incident took place shortly after midnight on Saturday, in the Independence Park in Mondesa's Independence Street. According to Inspector Iileni Shapumba of the Namibian Police's public relations unit, Fredericks had a quarrel with Smith at their shared apartment on Friday night (16 July). The quarrel ended with Smith expelling Fredericks from their apartment. Fredericks went to buy cigarettes and upon walking back to the apartment spotted Smith walking in the street with two of her friends. That was around 20 minutes past midnight. As he approached them, Smith allegedly drew the kitchen knife to attack him. A scuffle ensued between Fredericks and Smith and he managed to wrestle the knife from her. He then used the same knife to stab her, killing her instantly. Fredericks made a first appearance before Magistrate Conchita Olivier and state Prosecutor Beata Mwahi. Mwahi opposed bail to Fredericks, arguing that would not be in the interest of the public's safety. Fredericks was advised to apply for legal aid.

The Erongo Regional Council, Directorate of Education, Arts and Culture announced that application for the enrolment can be done on Tuesday, 10 August 2021 for grade 1 learners, Wednesday, 11 August 2021 for grade 8 learners and Thursday, 12 August 2021 for pre-primary learners. Enrolments can be done at the respective schools in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund circuits only. Parents of pre-primary learners must remember that the learner must turn 6 in 2022. The learner should have been born in 2016 and a learner applying for grade 1 must turn 7 in 2022 (born in 2015). The documents needed are certified copies of the learner's full birth certificate, two passport photos and certified copies of the ID of the parent or guardian. “Parents and guardians should adhere to World Health Organisation health protocols, which include social distancing and wearing of masks during the application process. Enquiries for Walvis Bay can be made at the local circuit office schools at 064 - 200 218; at the Swakopmund circuit office at 064 - 41569.

Namibian diamonds ensure N$26 million contribution TO the fight against Covid-19 De Beers Group, Namdeb, Debmarine Namibia and Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC) (Namibia De Beers partnership) pledged a combined N$26 million to support the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Namibia. The pledge consists of a financial donation and in-kind support to assist with the rollout of the Namibia vaccination campaign. The support will be funded through a contribution of N$13 million from De Beers Group and a combined N$13 million from Namdeb, Debmarine Namibia and NDTC. The share of the pledge to be contributed by De Beers Group forms part of Anglo American's global commitment to supporting national vaccine programmes in the countries in which it operates. The Namibia De Beers partnership will continue to engage with Government and consider the best ways for the financial contribution to assist in procuring vaccines for the benefit of Namibia's population, while in-kind support will include the provision of medical facilities, personnel, equipment and supplies to assist with the delivery of the vaccine rollout. The Namibia De Beers partnership is committed to the fair and equitable distribution of vaccines and supports the priority approach as defined by the National Deployment and Vaccination Plan (NDVP) for COVID19 in Namibia. Bruce Cleaver, CEO of the De Beers Group, and Chairperson of the Namdeb Holdings Board said, “As we collectively respond to the im-

pacts of COVID-19, it's clear that partnership is more important than ever and we remain focused on finding the best ways to help meet the needs of our partners. In Namibia and around the world, COVID-19 has had a huge impact on everyone's lives, and vaccines provide us with a path towards health and economic recovery. I would like to pay tribute to the sterling leadership provided by Otto Shikongo in Debmarine Namibia, Riaan Burger in Namdeb and Brent Eiseb in NDTC, during these most trying times. Through a combination of financial support for national vaccine procurement and the provision of medical facilities, personnel, equipment and supplies, we are committed to playing a meaningful role in supporting Namibia's national vaccine rollout and helping protect its citizens from the virus.” The contribution to the national vaccine rollout programme follows prior support provided by the Partnership, to assist Namibia in responding to the COVID19 pandemic. In 2020, De Beers provided a N$15 million in-kind contribution, enabling the procurement of a PCR testing machine, supported the establishment of border screening facilities (in partnership with the

Anglo-American Namibia foundation), and the upgrading of the Lüderitz Hospital High Care Unit in partnership with Debmarine Namibia. Namdeb played a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable households from the communities of Lüderitz, Aus and Rosh Pinah, by providing food parcels and increasing school support to affected families. Namdeb also provided isolation facilities in Lüderitz, which are used by the Ministry of Health and Social Services to isolate and treat COVID19 positive patients. In collaboration with the University of Namibia (UNAM), Debmarine Namibia established a laboratory and placed two fully functional PCR Testing units at the University. This collaboration has strengthened the UNAM knowledge base on COVID-19 testing, and supported the Debmarine Namibia operations in conducting tests for employees and complemented national testing efforts. Thirty highspec ventilators were also donated to the Ministry of Health and Social Services for placement at various hospitals. Meanwhile, NDTC provided a range of support to all its employees and their families to ensure safe and continuous operations, albeit with

stringent COVID-19 related measures in place. This ensured the continued sale of diamonds by Namdeb and

Debmarine Namibia, and economic benefits of diamond mining to the country during this period.

Behind the scenes of Covid-19

Contributed While many people know what it is like to be tested for COVID-19, only a few people know what happens to the samples once the swab has been taken. Due to the recent surge in cases in Namibia, staff from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Namibia have been volun-

teering to assist the Namibia Institute of Pathology Limited (NIP) laboratory team at Wi n d h o e k C e n t r a l Reference Laboratory (WCRL) to sort the

samples received from testing sites across the country. The NIP lab is open 12-16 hours a day, seven days a week, and the pressure on the permanent staff has

been immense. CDC's practical support has helped to ease the burden, allowing team members to have time off while not compromising testing turn-

around times. Samples come to the Windhoek NIP lab from clinics and hospitals across the country. When they arrive, the first step is to unpack the boxes. Inside are samples, accompanied by the case information forms. The forms are checked for any that are urgent and organized into alphabetical order to speed up the process of re-matching the forms to the samples. Each sample is then matched to its form to check that all documentation is in place. This is done because sometimes some samples can arrive without forms, or some forms can arrive without samples. Any urgent samples are quickly identified and prioritised for testing. The sorting process is simple but is laborious and takes time. Once each sample is matched to the corresponding form, the sample is manually labelled with the unique patient information number on the form. The samples are then organized into a sample tray, ready to be loaded into the testing machine or for manual extraction. NIP receives between 1000 and 3000 samples each day. Even if it takes just one minute to sort each sample, this still means it will take 16 and half hours to sort just 1000 of all the samples received if this job was being performed by a single person. This is why having sufficient personnel is critical, to ensure the results can be processed in a timely fashion. “The laboratory staff are working long hours,

every day of the week testing the COVID-19 samples. These people are unsung heroes,” said Tuku Ndevaetela, one of the CDC Namibia volunteers assisting with the sorting of samples. “I am in awe of the laboratory staff who have been working in the COVID-19 laboratory for the last 18 months”. Every week, Namibia is testing over 20,000 COVID-19 samples. At the start of July, around 40% of the samples tested each day were positive. While this does not mean that 4 in 10 people in the community have COVID-19, (the testing has a strong bias given that many samples are due to contact tracing from known COVID-19 positive cases), the number of positive results is still worryingly high, indicating that the virus is spreading unchecked in the communities. “We must stop the spread of the virus,” says Dr. Suzanne Beard, Laboratory Team Lead for CDC Namibia. “We need to wash our hands, wear a mask, avoid gatherings and get vaccinated. In the laboratory, we are seeing an increase in samples, and an increase in the proportion of positive results. We are also seeing an increase in the number of urgent requests for patients who are hospitalized. We can see just how serious the situation is and we know what needs to be done. But we do not know if the public will take the steps needed to stop the virus from spreading. The laboratory technicians are delivering

the results day after day, and the healthcare providers are caring for the sick, day after day. We need the public to stop the spread of the virus, day after day too. We all have to do our part to end this pandemic”. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, like many countries in the world, Namibia did not have any capacity to test for the novel corona virus. Eighteen months later, the country is meeting the testing demand despite an exponential third wave that has seriously challenged the country. The fact that Namibia is successfully keeping up with the demand for COVID-19 testing during this third wave is one of the success stories of the country's response. People are getting tested and receiving their results, often within 24 – 48 hours. This makes it much easier for people to know whether or not they have COVID-19 and to make the right decisions on the next steps they should take. “Namibia's success in testing for COVID-19 is one of the reasons why the country will see an end to this third wave,” said Jessica Long, who leads the U.S. Embassy as Chargé d'Affaires. “We are able to understand how quickly the virus is spreading and the country can adjust its public health regulations accordingly. The laboratory technicians across the country are playing a behind-thescenes role in helping us to reach better times. Namibia cannot fight this pandemic without them.”

Probe commences into Magic Discounters fire

The Walvis Bay fire brigade leads an investigation into the possible cause of the fire which totally destroyed the Magic Discounters complex in the town’s central business district early on Monday morning. Meanwhile, the management of Magic Discounters cautioned the public against rumours that the store manager, Mr. Martin Cordier was arrested for arson. There is no truth in that. Mr. Cordier and his son were in actual arrested, but were on charges of failing to comply with the instructions of a police officer and trespassing into an area cordoned off by police. That was at the fire scene. Mr. Cordier and his son is out on N$2000-00 bail each and will defend themselves against these allegations made by the Police.

O&L Group takes rescue measures Press Statement: “The devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism industry in particular, and the commensurate mitigating measures taken by governments around the world whereby industry revenues collapsed, can be described as worse than the worst-case scenarios anticipated locally and globally”, says Norbert Wurm, Managing Director of O&L Leisure. In a statement issued on Wednesday, 21 July 2021, O&L Leisure – a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver &List (O&L) Group – announced its decision to introduce urgent rescue measures to safeguard the future sustainability of its business and mitigate the risk of the impact on an already crippled

tourism sector. Says Wu r m : “ Wi t h t h e pandemic continuing to impact us negatively and the current government regulations and health measures including restrictions on trading in our restaurants and international travel regulations linked to infection levels, we are further hampered in our

ability to operate our business resulting in this situation becoming unsustainable. Our focus during and throughout this crisis has always been to trade our way out of this difficult situation, with emphasis on revenue generation, while reducing costs without reducing standards and simultaneously

protecting livelihoods. Unfortunately, the 3rd wave of the pandemic has hit the region and our business, like many others, hard especially during the second quarter of the year.” During the entirety of the crisis until recently, O&L Leisure has reduced overtime costs and adjusted work schedules, amongst

others, while choosing not to resort to restructuring, retrenchments, or man-datory salary reductions. “In an effort to alleviate the pressure and safe-guard the wellbeing of our employees and sustain our business, we unfortunately have no other choice but to take necessary measures to ensure we overcome the short-term challenges facing us. Having exhausted all other alternatives, our focus remains on securing jobs and livelihoods in a sustainable manner while requiring a collective sacrifice by all, whereby we urgently need to reduce our operating requirements in line with forecasted activity and in terms of section 12 of the Labour Act”, Wurm said. O&L Leisure has as such effected the following temporary measures at its various properties/sites with basic salary reductions of between 25-50% (depending on level of activity) (not total Cost to Company/CTC incl. allowances and benefits, etc.), effective 1 August 2021 to 30 October 2021:

·Chobe Water Villas and Mokuti Etosha Lodge will be closed temporarily until 1 October when it will be reopened. ·Strand Hotel Swakopmund will remain open for business with reduced operations and its Farmhouse Deli remaining in operation for in-house guests and take-away. ·Midgard Country Estate will remain open for business and at full operation with ongoing training and construction for official opening towards the end of September. ·The O&L Leisure Central Office will also reduce working hours between 25% and 50%, depending on work requirements, and remuneration adjusted accordingly. “These are trying times and while we had hoped to overcome this crisis, we now have the opportunity to become more resilient than ever before by collectively taking hands and pushing through this crisis, together. Guided by our collective Purpose of 'Creating a Future, Enhancing Life' that requires us to be

responsible and our Vision 2025 which is 'to be a catalyst for positive change, creating new realities, and fulfilling dreams', I am confident and inspired by our team's passion and resilience that speaks for itself, and therefore have no doubt that we will unite in finding breakthroughs to overcome this crisis as we cannot afford to put our jobs and livelihoods; and, indeed the future of our business, at risk. I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our people – our valued employees – for their commitment and sacrifice as well as our valued stakeholders and customers for your continued support over the last fifteen (15) months as we navigated through these troubled waters. Please note that the measures implemented are only temporary and we look forward to welcome you to the iconic Strand Hotel Swakopmund as well as the new and exciting, revamped Midgard - where you can still experience and enjoy our warm Namibian hospitality, worldclass food and service excellence while having a good time away from home. We are also confident and optimistic that our Chobe Water Villas and Mokuti Etosha Lodge will reopen on the 1st October and therefore welcome you to make your bookings in advance to avoid disappointment. Let us take hands, endure and overcome this together to ensure the future for ourselves and each other, our country, our children and generations to come”, Wurm concluded.

IN MEMORY OF MY DARLING HUSBAND IN HEAVEN

CHANDLER DERMON PLATO Sunrise 12/12/1970 Sunset 20/07/2020 When God made husbands, he chose you to be my soulmate He made a perfect gentleman, compassionate and kind, with more love and affection that you could ever wish to find He gave my darling husband a heart of solid gold only my heart could hold He was someone that I could talk to and to share my greatest fears. He was my body armor, shielding me from the hurt of life His passion for life and especially when fighting for a cause or someone he believed in was sometimes too much to handle Your very presence in my life was a daily blessing and you lived your whole life in 49 years I shared 31 years of your life with you and now the rest of the chapter will be written alone. Its hard to imagine that you will never hold my hand when crossing a street, taking my hand, and leading the way, the way you kissed my forehead before we went to sleep, telling me you love me The warm morning hugs that I insisted on and you gave them sometimes half asleep Your understanding and your endless and unconditional love for me, our boys and grandson will be forever treasured in our hearts. Your voice may be silent, but the memories, especially the thousands of photos will be a daily reminder that you will live in our hears forever.

Eagles at first-ever ICC Men's T20 World Cup Rudi Bowe

The Namibian Eagles will be appearing in their first-ever International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20 World Cup after they defeated Oman in the qualifying tournament in October 2019 in Dubai. The seventh T20 World Cup will be composed of two rounds. Round 1 will include twelve matches between eight teams that are divided into two groups with a total of 42 matches at the BCCI in Oman and the United Arab Emirates from 17 to 23 October. The Eight teams will contest the first round including automatic qualifiers Sri Lanka and Bangladesh with the remaining six who booked their spot through the ICC Men's T 2 0 Wo r l d C u p Qualifier 2019. The Eagles will compete against Sri Lanka, Ireland and Netherlands in Group A with Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Oman in Group B with the winner and runner up of each group in round 1 will progress to round 2 to join the already qualified 8 teams (India, West Indies, England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Afghanistan) in Super 12 for the 2021ICC Men's T20 World Cup hosted at the Dubai International Stadium, the

Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground. Round 2 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup is scheduled from 24 October to 8 November 2021 with 12 team that will be split into two groups of six teams each with the two top teams of each group will play the Semi-finals that will b e o n 11 a n d 1 2 November and the semifinal winners to play the final on 14 November 2021. The defending champions the West Indies pooled along with former champions England, Australia and South Africa in Group 1 of the Super 12s, with two qualifiers from Round 1 joining them and Group 2 will comprise former champions India and Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan and the other two qualifiers from Round 1. The Namibian Eagles coach Pierre de Bruyn has reacted with disappointment at the new T20 World Cup groups draw and did not understand why there was a new draw as the draw was done shortly after their

Walvis Bay born national cricketers Mauritius Ngupita, JJ Smit and Ben Shikongo. qualification in November 2019. According to the coach, the new draw Namibia has now been placed in a much tougher group and that the Eagles chances of advancing to the Super 12 stage would be much more difficult. “The Eagles were originally drawn in Group B along with Bangladesh, the Netherlands and Scotland, but now after the latest draw, they were put in Group A along with Sri Lanka, Ireland and the Netherlands, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Oman” he added. De Bruyn further ex-

plained that Ireland and the Netherlands are also unhappy about the changes as just like Cricket Namibia they were also not aware that the ICC were going to change the groups and that it doesn't make sense at all as the national team haven't played any (internationally recognised) matches since the World Cup qualifiers. “In terms of T20 world rankings Namibia, who are ranked 19 in the world, are now in a tougher group against S r i Lan k a ( n in th ) , Ireland (12) and the Netherlands (17), while Bangladesh (10th in the world), Scotland (14),

Papua New Guinea (16) and Oman (18) make up Group B” De Bruyn added. “With two full ICC members in Sri Lanka and Ireland and the Netherlands which is also a very good team we are now definitely in the tougher group by far and this made our chances of advancing to the Super 12 stage much more difficult but it doesn't mean we can't advance from Group A, it's just going to be tougher” De Bruyn said. "If we can advance from a group like this, it will show we have a bloody good team. We will take on the challenge, we won't shy away from it,

but it doesn't make sense coming like this without any prior warning. They could at least have explained to us why they made the changes,” De Bruyn said. Namibia will play their first game in Group A on 18 October 2021 against Netherlands, their second game against Sri Lanka is on 20 October and their last group game on 22 October against Ireland. The grouping for round 1 are; Group A: Sri Lanka, Ireland, the Netherlands and Namibia Group B: Bangladesh, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Oman and for the Super 12 grouping is Group 1:

England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, A1 and B2. Group 2: India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, A2 and B1. The Namibian squad for the World Cup is Gerhard Erasmus, Stephen Baard, Zane Green, Craig Williams, JJ Smit, Nicol Loftie Eaton, Jan Frylink, Ruben Trumpelmann, Pikkie Ya France, Karl Birkenstock, Ben Shikongo, Tangeni Lungameni, Bernard Scholtz, Dewald Nell, Shaun Fouche, Michau du Preez(wk), Mauritius Ngupita, Michael van Lingen and David Wiese .

J&P Hydraulics Racing Car Project Parent always want their children to follow in their footsteps, but with all the attractions of the modern world this doesn't happen much anymore. It is more satisfying for a parent when the children follow in their footsteps or even emulate them. It has been a long-time dream of Allan Martin, that his son Zachary Martin follow in his footsteps and this happened to the extent that the two have tackled numerous projects of building racing cars together. One the longtime dreams of Allan Martin, the legendary and wellknown Namibian Champion rally driver, Oval, Drag and Circuit racer, was to do a father and son project. A project where the two build a racing car together and by doing so, contribute to the development of motorsport in Namibia. With all the negativity during this time with the Covid-19 pandemic, Allan and Zachary Martin thought that this project could be one of positivity and hope. Not only was it about doing something positive, but also about a legacy of fathers and sons sharing in their motorsport achievements. Allan and Zachary Martin have shared the same podium on a few occasions

already. This is something very few parents get to experience. The beginning of this project goes far back as Allan also managed to bring parents and children who shared the same interests together. This brought grandfathers, fathers, sons, mothers, and daughters to all rally on the events. Willem Hugo, Maretha Olivier, Mandi Hugo and Zachary Martin all rallied on the same events, and at times all shared the same podium. In continuing this legacy, Allan Martin thought of getting the man whose name is synonymous with the racetrack and have been part of motorsport in Namibia for many years, Tony Rust. Tony Rust raced and rallied, and his son Michael also followed in his footsteps. To complete this legacy, Allan and Zachary Martin built and donated the VW MK1 Golf Racing car to Wynne Rust the son of Michael Rust. While Tony Rust retired from competing in active motorsport many years ago, Michael Rust has kept

come true even if it's tough sometimes and for sharing all your knowledge and more without thinking twice. I'm forever grateful that we got to do this build together and it's something I will forever cherish in my heart. Without you none of this would've been possible. I look forward to making many more memories like this with you” Zachary Martin concluded.

Allan Martin with the VW MK1 Golf Racing car that he and his son build the Rust flag flying and hopefully soon the dream which Allan and Zachary Martin had of Wynne Rust joining his dad on the podium will come true through this project. Zachary Martin said, “Just like that another build

comes to an end. Definitely wasn't easy keeping this one under wraps as it's a very special one for us.” Zachary Martin said that for as long as he can remember ever since he started racing, dad and son discussed building a car to one day bless someone. Even through all the tough times this year brought about, the opportunity presented itself and the two decided to build a beautiful car. “No corners were cut and it was built to the same standard as all our other cars but the only difference it was all done within a month and a half. Can't wait to see it on track and surely, it's going to be a force to recon with” the young racing driver said. “To top it all off the person we decided to bless, is going on to be a 3rd generation at the track that his grandfather built. I was fortunate enough to share a podium with my dad a few times and it's something very very special to me, I can't wait for Michel Rust and his son to do the same”. Zachary Martin said “I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my dad. Thank you for everything you do for me, from the smallest to the biggest. Words cannot describe how thankful I am. I know I'm your biggest headache sometimes but thank you for not giving up on me and always being there.” Thank you for making all my Motorsport dreams
