The interesting new point was discussed at the recent Council meeting, when a report titled “Location Filming in Swakopmund: A Film Permit Guide”, was presented. “The Swakopmund Municipal Council together with the Namibia Film Commission has a statutory responsibility to protect the environment and to represent the community,” it states in the Agenda. While filming on public land or infrastructure such as roads and parks raises the issue of balancing public needs and demands of the industry.
