Ltd. to come clean on the issue saying it has been misleading the press and eventually misleading the government and the public. Rao clarified that the firm has harmonious relationship with all sections of public and that all of them were helping the firm in completing the work.

The company also lauded the administration and police for tremendous support and guidance, PDR noted. “If this is the case, then what is the reason behind the construction works being halted?,” PDR asked, while demanding ECI to come clean and respond to the public and government for reasons behind stopping the works. It also cited reports that even before ECI had informed about the alleged harassment to labourers, some of the sub-contractors had already stopped works few months back due to non-payment of bill. The fact that the petrol pump had also stopped supply of fuel to the company due to non-payment of bills speaks a lot about the issue, it said. (Cont’d on p-7)

DIMAPUR, SEP 1 (NPN): NDPP has slammed the opposition NPF for taking the “political arena to a new low” when its spokesperson had made “baseless allegations” that were bereft of facts and which sounded more like some “periodical noise for the sake of being in the opposition.” Stating this, media and communication committee of NDPP repeated that appointment of leaders and members of ruling PDA coalition to various government positions were for carrying out “good governance and connect with grassroot. It said the appointees were acknowledged leaders with respectable credentials and experience and expertise in various fields apart from being senior politicians. NDPP said the appointees included former MLAs, ex-ministers, former bureaucrats, media and those having experience in civil

society. Each of them have decades of experience and vast knowledge which made it (NDPP) hopeful that they will contribute towards better governance and improve the delivery system. NDPP also rejected the charge by NPF that appointment of PDA leaders to government positions would cost any additional burden on the state’s exchequer. It reiterated that the state government continued to make efforts to reduce government expenditure and enforce austerity measures. NDPP reminded NPF that during its four years it had appointed several of its functionaries to various government positions and who enjoyed position and status but whose output was “minimal” or without any contribution whatsoever. Further taking a dig at NPF for never failing to describe itself as “one of the oldest regional parties

in the north east” or tall claims of history and on the other hand using words such as “nonsensical” and “chamchas” against others, NDPP said it exposes the mindset and mentality of NPF including the state of affairs within the party. NDPP said such terms referred above which were being used by NPF are derogatory, discriminatory and uncivilised words and maintained if NPF was mindful of its own image, then it should apologise to people of Nagaland for using such terms that set wrong examples and also lowering the polity to lowest levels. On its part, NDPP assured it would never stoop so low and undermine the wisdom of the people and instead conduct its affairs with responsibility, respect for others and always uphold feelings of people whom it respects, adding as people are always the best judge.
