DIMAPUR, MAY 26 (NPN): Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has reminded state chief minister Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu to discuss with the cabinet at the earliest on the construction of foothill road and sanction the remaining Rs. 11.5 crore required for the 8km earth cutting at Niuland and Naginimora sectors. The committee has resolved this at its emergency meeting held on Friday at Dimapur, as the chief minister had failed to respond on his assurance (that he would consult with his cabinet and intimate the cabinet decision to the NHFRCC) even after one month had lapsed, NFHRCC convener Supu Jamir told media persons. The committee also urged all the “Naga legislators” to discuss or debate the matter on the floor of the house as the foothill road “does not belong to the committee but to the whole Naga family”. “Having
elected with the mandate of the public, the elected representatives should also be maintained in both letter and spirit”, Supu said. NHFRCC also slammed state government for deliberately ignoring the people’s project by not releasing the fund for the last three consecutive years. According to Supu, the chief minister expressed his inability to sanction the remaining Rs. 11. 5 crore as the financial stability of the state was not in a good position, when the committee called upon him at his office chamber at Kohima on April 27, 2017. However, he had assured to consult with the cabinet and intimate the decision to the committee, the convenor said. In the light of the above, NFHRCC urged the state government to seriously and expeditiously take up the historic project. The committee further cautioned state government that non-compliance on their demand would invite “ugly consequences” and that NFHRCC would not be held accountable.

by both the Centre and the States since India’s independence and the manner in which they were implemented had created a lot of complexities. Dr.Liezietsü said a deeper analysis also revealed that there exists inefficiency to a large degree in the taxation system and the structure only led to tax on tax and thereby making the businesses expensive and uncompetitive. He said multiple taxation process leads to a cascading of taxes, resulting in increased prices affecting the end consumer.
