BJP organises interactive meeting DIMAPUR: Series of interactive meetings with state office bearers, core committee members, state frontals, district representative, local area committees and party members were held with BJP North East secretary and coordinator, Sunder Pal on March 25. A press note by BJP Nagaland general secretary (media) & spokesperson, Jaangsillung Gonmei, stated that Sunder Pal during his address encouraged the party workers to work hard at the grassroots level to take the party forward and form the government. He pointed out the lack of developments and deplorable state of public infrastructure and called for the party workers to take charge and work towards forming the government to bring about all round developments. Sunder Pal also stated that all the local area committees should be set up within a short time. PPC : Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) has condoled the demise of late Wokshing Phom Ex-MLA of Bura Namsang village and Hepong Phom ExIBM of Bhumnyu village on March 26 and March 28 respectively in Dimapur. In a condolence note, PCC behalf ’ of the people of entire Phom community has expressed deep pain over the loss of their committed tall leaders of the tribe. PPC stated that as public leaders they had made enormous contributions towards the upliftment of the down-trodden and their footprints would always be remembered by the people of Phom community. PPC conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
As an elected member of Interim body in the early 1960s, Hepong Phom served from 1961-1963 during the transitional period of Nagaland. NLA speaker said Phom was brave and idealistic, sincere and devoted who worked tirelessly for the forma-
tion of the state of Nagaland. On his passing away, the speaker said the state has lost a prominent leader. The house observed two minutes of silence as a sign of respect for him, stated a DIPR report.
