D I M A P U R : Implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awaas YojanaGramin (PMAY-G), a rural housing programme in the state was launched b y m i n i s t e r o f Ru r a l Development & REPA, C. L. John at RD conference hall on Wednesday. Addressing the launching programme, C.L. John maintained that rural development had always been the priority, both for the government of India and the state government to alleviate poverty in the rural areas and improve the living standard of the rural people. Housing being a basic human want and necessity, special focus and attention has been given by launching a dedicated scheme specifically for providing houses in rural areas by successive governments, he added.
Stating that in the case of implementation of PMAY-G, it was the community through VDBs that would have to identify and select the beneficiaries as per SECC 2011 data, he expressed optimism that the VDBs would continue to play pro-active roles and ensure that deserving beneficiaries were not left out. He also reminded that state gover nment has also come out with a 2030 Vision Document by incorporating all spheres of development, whereby he urged the officers to make full use of the various programmes implemented by the department so that the r ural people were developed at par with urban dwellers. Delivering the key note address, secretary RD, Kelei Zeliang mentioned that Pradhan Mantri Awas
Yojana (PMAY-G) was formally launched at the national level by prime minister of India on November 20, 2016 and in continuation of this launch, the state of Nagaland has formally launching PMAY-G at the state level to give wide publicity of the scheme. Zeliang also pointed out some key features of PMAY-G, progress of the state, reporting procedures and also presented a brief history on rural housing programme in India. The programme was chaired by director, RD, Metsubo Jamir while vote of thanks was delivered by joint director, RD, Imnukshila Jamir. The launching programme was followed by training for PMAY-G on the usage of AwaasSoft, AwaasApp and progress review of IAY.
DIMAPUR: An exposure visit cum training on “Production technology & processing of Aloe Vera” was organized by Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), DAC &FW, Ministry of Ag riculture, Govt. of India, Medziphema, Nagaland for the farmers of Sikkim at Manesh Agro Engineering & Technology, Kotpuli, Jaipur, Rajasthan from January 12 to 15. Exposure trip was organized as a part of capacity building to enhance skills for income generation so as to improve livelihood through horticulture sector which has a high scope. Re s o u r c e p e r s o n , Kailash Choudhary delivered on the concept of organic farming and i m p r ove d p r o d u c t i o n technology of Aloe Vera. F u r t h e r, c o s t benefit ratio, and hands on demonstration on preparation of soap making, juice were carried out by Mahesh. Various value added products from Aloe vera, Bael and Amla were shown. Field visit on cultivation of Aloe Vera was also done which was followed with a visit to Jaipur city. Altogether, 19 farmers along with 2 CIH officials attended the training programme. The programme concluded with certificates distribution to all the participants.

MITE celebrates foundationcum-cultural day in Kohima

DIMAPUR: Modern I n s t i t u t e o f Te a c h e r Education (MITE), Kohima celebrated its 6th foundation -cum-cultural day on March 1, organized by the Cultural Club and assisted by the other clubs of MITE at the college auditorium. The function wa s g r a c e d b y d e a n , Modern College, Kohima, Kaikho Losii as the guest of honour. Speaking on the significance of the day, managing director, MITE, Pelee Hekha narrated the journey of the institute since the foundation on March 1, 2012 till date. He stressed
on the need to bring quality education as envisioned by the founder of the institute, late Dr S. Hekha Mao. The first session was chaired by Vigholi K.Sumi, studentteacher and the welcome address was delivered by Temjenliba. G u e s t o f h o n o u r, Kaikho Losii delivered the speech where he mentioned that every student- teacher should be proud of the institute as the institute was one of the best in Nagaland producing excellent result consistently. The chair man expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the forest department for bringing continual blessing to the villagers. Ranger Ailong, also mentioned the forwardness of the villagers by devoting their time and energy and selflessly working for the community. DIMAPUR: First biannual meeting of Dimapur Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC) was held on Febr uar y 27, at ARTC & S, Dimapur under the chairmanship of ARTC & S Commandant Brig Gurjap Singh. Brig Gurjap Singh stressed on importance of progressive use of Hindi and exhorted all members to implement the policies issued by the government of India regarding publicity and implementation of the official language policy. Naib Subedar, Deshraj, applauded the efforts of the members of TOLIC Dimapur for wide publicity of the official language. PHED, Horticulture deptts bid adieu to outgoing officers

(DIPR) Correspondent KOHIMA, MAR 1 (NPN): Department of PHE held a farewell function in honour of the outgoing additional chief engineer, Er. J. Walter Longchar on February 28 at PHED Directorate Office, Kohima. In an emotional speech, Er. Longchar expressed his gratefulness to God for giving him such an opportunity to serve the people through the department for many years and also thanked the officers and staff for the support and friendship that he received during the course of his career. He stated that during the past few years the department had made K

much progress on all fronts, especially in the area of personal management which was known to all. He wished that this high standard of perfor mance would be continued forward. Commissioner & secretary of PHED in his speech lauded the high l eve l o f c o m m i t m e n t and service rendered by the outgoing officer and that Er. Longchar after the retirement from govt. service would continue to scale higher in the service for the people. Chief engineer, Er. Kevisekho Kruse, spoke on behalf of the department and said that Er. Longchar had served the department
with distinction for nearly 32 years. He said the way he had discharged his duty with integrity, speed and the manner in which he administered personal management were particularly laudable. Er. Yhusinlo Tep, the in-coming addl. chief engineer and Er. Khetoi, executive engineer and president of Association of PHE Engineers also spoke at the function. The prog ram was attended by senior officers and staff of the department . Er. Longchar joined the department as SDO in 1985 and retired as addl. chief engineer on attaining superannuation of age.
HORTICULTURE: In a similar prog ramme, department of Horticulture organized farewell for outgoing director, Pawan Kumar on March 1 at conference hall of the directorate. In his farewell speech, Pawan Kumar thanked God for blessing him and letting him complete 35 years of service in good health. He also thanked his junior officers and staff of the department for the cooperation rendered to him during his term of service. H e f u r t h e r u r ge d the employees to remain sincere, honest, transparent and hardworking in
whatever they do in order to achieve real success. Others who spoke in the programme included parliamentary secretary of Horticulture, Kejong Chang, secretary, Horticulture, Alan Gonmei, incoming director, Arun Mech, directorate officers, district horticulture officers and subordinates and other well wishers.
