NHAK is now COVID19 hospital; no new patient to be admitted Govt priority for DIMAPUR, MAR 28 (NPN): After declaring the Naga Hospital Kohima (NHAK) as COVID-19 Hospital, the state government has ordered that no new patient would be admitted at NHAK with effect from March 27, 2020, until further notice. In an order, the state government informed that arrangements have been prepared for the convenience of patients, saying that existing in-patients requiring further hospitalization be safely moved to Putuonuo Nursing Home (0370-2221857); Oking Hospital (0370-2290080); Bethel Medical Care (03702224202) and KP Bethesda Hospital (9485238298). Also, new patients seeking emergency healthcare in NHAK would be diverted to the above hospitals. The order stated that only emergency cases would be entertained till further orders. The medical expenditure for in-patients who are shifted or new emergency patients who are referred would be worked out with the respective hospitals, the order stated.

DIMAPUR, MAR 28 (NPN): State chief minister Neiphiu Rio has reiterated the government’s commitment to tackle the spread of coronavirus by taking people’s support and giving priority for providing protective gear to health care teams, police and media persons who are at the forefront, reports DIPR . Highlighting crucial measures undertaken by his government in containing coronavirus in the state, Rio also assured that medication equipment and safety measures are being put in place for safety of general public and medical workers. He also said the government was taking all steps to procure medical safety gears, ventilator and equipments with urgency. Rio said the fist consignment of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) have arrived with the second consignment expected by Monday through the Air Force. He mentioned that the State has received medical equipment consignments totalling 1536, which include- Triple Layer Mask, PPE, BD Universal Viral Transport and swab sticks. Further, he said, additional medical equipment and accessories totalling 2,16, 800 is expected very soon adding 33 more ventilators were also expected by the coming week. Constant efforts were being made to expedite delivery of such essential medical equipment and accessories with the help of Government of India. Rio also reminded that the Health Department has till now made available 173 isolation beds for COVID -19 cases in addition to 175 isolation beds in identified COVID-19 Hospitals. Further, the number of quarantine facilities has been increased to 1043 in the State and continuous efforts are being made to increase

NEW DELHI, MAR 28 (PTI): With tens of thousands of migrant workers walking down to their homes far way amid the coronavirus lockdown, the government on Saturday directed states and union territories to immediately set up relief camps for them and carry out health check-ups. Scenes of mig rant workers walking endlessly and many trying to cram into buses to reach their destination were common in several parts of the country as the countrywide lockdown entered fourth day. With lakhs of these workers stranded on highways and inter-state bus terminus, the government stepped in and asked states and union territories to immediately set up relief camps for migrant workers and others who are returning to their home states or trying to do so during the nationwide lockdown period. DIMAPUR, MAR 28 (NPN): DC Dimapur Anoop Khinchi through an order issued on March 28, has requested all village council chairmen, VCMs/GBs to ensure that vehicles carrying essential commodities and exempted government officials on duty were not restricted in their areas. He also directed volunteers deployed in compliance with the directives of Sec 144 CrPC to observe social distancing. He also directed all persons returning from outside the state to observe 14 days quarantine, and said that violation of the quarantine should be reported to the district administration. Further, DC directed all volunteers assisting wards/village councils to wear protective gears like masks, gloves, sanitizers etc. and ensure social distancing by observing one meter distance. The order was issued in the light of reports that vehicles carrying essential commodities, medical staff and government officials on duty were being restricted. Also the DC said reports were received that some persons who recently returned from other states/ countries were being unduly harassed and refused entry into the villages and wards.

DIMAPUR, MAR 28 (NPN): Amid COVID-19 pandemic sweeping the globe, the Naga Students’ Organization (NSO), Myanmar has claimed that joint military operations by the government of Myanmar and India was being carried out in the northern western parts of Naga Self-Administered Zone (SAZ), Sagaing Region of Myanmar bordering India. NSO through its media cell has appealed to the governments of India and Myanmar to promote peace and tranquillity besides development in the field of education, healthcare and socio-economy in Naga Hills instead of war. NSO said that Naga villagers continue to live in fears and trauma under the military forces, adding that their voice and cries have gone unheard. The student body lamented that the joint operation was undergoing in Naga regions despite poor villagers already living in fear of COVID-19
pandemic. NSO also appealed to the military forces of both Myanmar and India not to harass and torture the innocent villagers in the name of operation against the NSCN. The organisation also requested all the Nagas to remain confined in respective villages and not to travel to town and cities in order to avoid the contracting coronavirus until the situation returned to normalcy. NSO asserted that one cannot imagine if the Covid 19-hits Naga hills, a place where even curable diseases in outside world cannot be treated. Rio in his tweet said that the mobile application was mandatory for any person who entered Nagaland after March 6, 2020 even if they have called the state/district helpline. “This is crucial for tracking & surveillance of high-risk cases,� Rio stated. According to DIPR, the Health department has taken a step further to tackle the threat posed by the growing pandemic of COVID -19 and launched the app which will be crucial in tracking and surveillance of highrisk cases, thus preventing spread in the community.
