(NP) Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, JUN 15 (NPN): Horticulture department comprising of advisor for Horticulture Mhathung Yanthan, director, Dr. R Elithung Lotha and Dimapur district horticulture officer (DHO), Temsu Longkumer along with officials from the department conducted farm visit at JK Integrated Farm, Vidima village on Monday. The integrated farm with animal husbandry (piggery and fisheries) and orchard crops like papaya, banana, seedless guava is

an ambitious project undertaken by Renbemo Murry, a young entrepreneur. Renbemo, while interacting with Nagaland Post maintained that the area of the farm covered 40 acres of fertile and potential soil. He also mentioned that the orchards will be irrigated under drip irrigation system. Furthermore, Murry also plans to invest more resources on the orchard development in the coming days. Renbemo puts in self labour at the farm and hopes to encourage more youngsters to take up farming on a large scale.

During the visit, the department highlighted on the various aspects of cultivation and even pointed out some tips on how best to manage the various crops. The farm inspection of the advisor along with department head has certainly given the much needed boost and motivation to the young budding entrepreneur. It may be mentioned that the department has been assisting the farm in terms of planting materials, irrigation, fertilizers and information on planting techniques, management and post harvest guidance.
