DDLSA, traffic police create awareness on road safety

DIMAPUR: Considering the alarming increase in road accidents invariably as a result of human error and negligence, the Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) and Dimapur Traffic Police carried out a joint initiative on to create awareness on road safety on June 30. Panel lawyers of the DDLSA led by secretary
DDLSA and Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dimapur, Ajongba Imchen along with traffic police personnel encouraged motorists and two wheeler riders on the importance of the use of seat belts and crash helmets. Flyers on road safety and bumper stickers were given out during the drive carried out at Zion Hospital junction and Chumukedima
check gate. As noted earlier by Commissioner of Police, Limasunep Jamir, there have been as many as 22 cases of reported road accidents in Dimapur district in 2017 alone resulting in 20 fatalities. The motorists were therefore informed that such deaths were entirely preventable with the exercise of basic driving safety practices.
C-Edge College Dimapur EBC conducts awakening prog organizes fresher’s week DIMAPUR: C-Edge College, Dimapur organised its 6th Fresher’s week for the B.A and BBA I semester students from June 21 to 29. Various events such as the grooming session, introductory session, ethnic round, and the talent show round enthralled the programme. During the culmination programme, ACUAT chairman, Joel Naga as guest speaker said that Nagas have finally woken up and started to question the authority instead of remaining silent. He encouraged the students to inculcate the mentorship culture in the society by stressing on its significance citing some few examples of successful people from different fields who had mentors in their life.
Earlier, invocation prayer was said by assistant professor, Yimwapangla, welcome address and pledge of allegiance was delivered by C-Edge College president Er Moa Aier. Meanwhile, college awards of star attendance award, laurel award and the Balakrishnan Ramanathan award for EVS topper was presided over by principal of the college Dr Chubatola Aier. Laurel award for the recently graduated students who had the overall highest CGPA from BA and BBA were awarded to Ongru Pongen and Shiluwati respectively. The programme concluded with the crowning of Mr. & Miss Fresher 2017, adjudged to Ito G of BA I Semester and Imchakumla Longkumer of BBA I Semester.
Higher education bids KFC ‘Chunlikha meet the expert prog’ farewell to outgoing registrar DIMAPUR: A farewell programme in honour of the retiring registrar of the directorate of Higher Education, Vizotso Tase was held in the conference hall Kohima on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Director of Higher Education, Kuholi Chishi termed the farewell as a time to celebrate Tase’s good life, time and service he has rendered over the years. She described him as a wonderful guardian and a fatherly figure and stated that he was going away as somebody who has fulfilled so much. In his speech, the outgoing registrar recalled his 35 years of service and also thanked the department for organising
the programme. He also extended appreciation to staff and officers, who worked with him and gave full cooperation throughout his service. He hoped that they the trend would continue in the days to come. President of the Ministerial Staff Association, Higher Education, Atovi described Tase as humble, who had worked with devotion and dedication for the department. Earlier, in his welcome address, joint director Higher Education, Menuokholie Kire, who chaired the programme, congratulated the outgoing registrar. The programme began with an invocation by OSD higher education, Rokono Keyho.
32 AR conducts awareness lecture on HIV and AIDS DIMAPUR: 32 Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) conducted a lecture on HIV and AIDS on June 30, at Indisen village. The main aim of the lecture programme was to spread awareness about causes of spread of HIV and AIDS, preventive measures and discuss stigmas attached to HIV and AIDS. Altogether, 20 villagers attended the lecture.

DIMAPUR: Kemeci Farmers’ Club (KFC), “Chunlikha meet the expert programme” was held on June 28, at Community Hall, Chunlikha village. The programme was sponsored and organized by KVK, Kohima and NABARD, Kohima. The panel of experts of the programme was scientist, KVK Kohima, Longmayanger Pongen, the moderator of the programme. team conducted surgeries, provided free vaccinations and medicines to the farmers of the village. The club expressed appreciation to all the resource persons and Animal Health Clinic team for rendering invaluable service to the farmers of the village.
