move backward.” According to him, honesty has now become very demanding. Regretting that no one dared to speak the truth because of a fear psychosis, he said because of this, political leaders, church leaders, NGOs and civil societies dared not to point out what was evil or good in society. Car lifters nabbed; fake registration done in Nagaland
Anti-CAB state-wide bandh on February 11
DIMAPUR, FEB 7 (NPN): Busting of an inter-state gang of car lifters by Maharashtra police on Thursday has pointed to involvement of Nagaland in this nexus. A PTI report quoting a senior official said nine members of an inter-state gang of car lifters, who allegedly stole more than 100 vehicles from several states, have been arrested in Thane, Maharashtra. According to the report, the modus operandi of the gang was to first steal the vehicle, take it to a godown in Pune, and then obtain a fake registration certificate (RC) book for the vehicle from Nagaland. They would later change details of the car’s engine and chassis before selling the vehicles in Belgaum (Karnataka) and Rajasthan, police said. Thane’s Joint CP Madhukar Pandey told reporters that as many as 80 cars valued at around Rs 3.4 crore were seized from Pune, Mumbai, and some places in Rajastan and Karnataka. The gang operated in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Rajasthan and the North East region, he said.

Gariphema: One village, two tribes, one VC and one Church Over Rs 600 cr allocated for cows in UP budget 2019-20
Correspondent
KOHIMA, FEB 7 (NPN): Talk about faith, favouritism, protection of wildlife and forest, developing work culture, peaceful co-existence, etc, and Gariphema village has set a perfect example, though many do not know about these attributes of the village. The village lies 50 km away from the State Capital and its settlers comprise of two tribes (Angamis and Semas) speak both the languages, has one village council and one church denomination. And in spite of lack of tourist amenities, the village has many untold stories to share. Having one Christian church denomination within a village or community in Nagaland is not very common due to high birth under various denominations as can be seen lately. Located 12 km away from Botsa on NH-61, Gariphema has a population of 1,500 approximately and has 70% literacy rate.

Also, Gariphema village was declared as the first tobaccofree village in the country in 2014. Interestingly, the villagers do not address themselves as Angamis or Semas and are commonly addressed only as Gariphema. According to the history of revival movement in Nagaland, the impact of revival that took place across the State in early and late 1940s culminated in
convening of the first convention at Zhadima (Keruma) village in 1961. Subsequently, as per directive of the Holy Spirit, the second convention was held at Gariphema where the believers sought God’s will for recognition of the denomination. On January 9, 1962, Church elders from different parts of Nagaland met at Gariphema and “with fasting and prayer and under the power of God”, formed Nagaland Christian
Revival Church (NCRC). And today CRC mission has extended across the nation and globe with about 300 Churches in Nagaland, 600 in Arunachal Pradesh, while CRC also has its presence in 25 states in the country and in eight countries worldwide. As per book ‘History of Revival Movement in Nagaland’, God revealed his will through late Vilhounyü of Keruma, late Rongsang Ao of Changtonya village, late Neivilhoulie of Kohima village and Rev Yanarao Lotha. According to the book, it was prophesied by one woman from Gariphema in 1958 that one denomination would emerge from the village that would grow and spread across the world. And it has turned out to be a reality as churches were increasing the world. Speaking to Nagaland Post at Gariphema village on Thursday afternoon, social worker Vibeilietuo Kets offered heaps of praise to God for His abundant grace. (Cont’d on p-7)
LUCKNOW, FEB 7 (AGENCIES): The Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has proposed to spend over Rs 647 crore in the 2019-20 budget on the maintenance of cow-shelters in the state. In the annual budget presented by UP Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal, Rs 247.60 crore was allocated for the maintenance of cow -shelters in rural areas. Another amount of Rs 200 crore was allocated for the upkeep of cow shelters, under “Kanha Gaushala and Besahara Pashu Ashram” scheme in the urban areas in Uttar Pradesh. It is the third budget of the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh after having come to power in March 2017. The total budgetary allocations made for financial year 2019-20 was Rs 4.79 lakh crore, which is 12 per cent higher than the previous year’s budget. A separate budgetary allocation for cow welfare follows a series of steps announced by the Yogi
government in recent months. In January this year, the state government issued a special order allowing corporate houses to use corporate social responsibility funds to provide facilities for abandoned cows in rural areas. The Uttar Pradesh Revenue Code 2006 does not allow transfer of grazing ground to any nongovernmental organisation (NGO). The government, therefore, issued a separate order for the purpose. Earlier, the government had announced to impose a cow welfare cess and a special fee on beer and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) to fund construction of cow shelters in Uttar Pradesh. In December last year, the chief minister government announced setting up a committee under the chief secretary to extend financial help to those rearing abandoned bovines including cows. He also said that the municipal corporations would be given Rs 10 crore for stray cattle management in each district. K Y M C
