(NP) Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, Feb 18 (NPN): Calvary Bible Institute (CBI) Dimapur held its 5th batch graduation ceremony Saturday, at Life spring corner, Dimapur under the theme “To preach the message, to insist upon proclaiming it (whether the time is right or not) to conceive, reproach, and to encourage as you teach with all patience. Sukumar Chettri in his message asked the students to be ready in every season and time so that they would be able to face the trails and temptations that came their way. He also informed the students that they have been filled up with spirit, knowledge and gifted with new blessings and therefore he asked the students to remember to sow the right seed at the right time so that they would be blessed with better harvest at the end. “Being trained alone is not important but to be able to move forward is the biggest achievement” Chettri commented. to learn to encourage and stand to protect the church, prayer cell, ministry and organization by extending their help and sharing the gospel of God. The programme also felicitated students basing on the student ministry report. At the programme, CBI vision was delivered by Reverend Andrew Khawas from Sikkim, financial report was delivered by CBI, secretary Sanjay D. Sonar. ATMA mobilization and demonstration programme

and BTT convener Chumbeni Odyuo. On January 28 a field day on contour bunding was also conducted at Merapani Village. Demonstration on contour bunding was illustrated practically on the field by C. Yanthan. Further, advantages of contour bunding for soil conservation by controlling soil erosion, promotion of water retention and for increasing crop production were discussed by Chumbeni Odyuo. She also en-

couraged the farmers to use locally available resources like wood, bamboo etc for blocking soil erosion and preventing run off in sloping fields. The field day was held at the demonstration field on Soil Erosion Control Measures identified and selected by ATMA Bhandari block for conducting practical demonstrations relating to soil conservation measures. Altogether 18 farmers attended the field day.

Every student has to submit recommendation letter from their own respective pastor and leaders. Altogether 21 students were certified with diploma graduation certificate.

NCD lauds bandh participants DIMAPUR: Naga Council Dimapur has expressed its appreciation at the stance taken by various parties in restraining themselves form provocative behaviour during the bandh. A press note by NCD vice president, K. Ghokheto Chophy and general secretary, Thsapongkyu Sangtam stated its gratefulness to everyone who had stood for the cause of the Naga rights in its fight against the discordant policy of the state government. NCD also applauded the support shown by various sections of the society, c o l o n y / w a r d u n i o n s, women organizations, DNYO, tribal hohos in the fight for justice during the prolonged period of bandh. NCD also mentioned the determination shown by DNYO from the start of the bandh till date, for the very fact that it stood resolute not to compromise the future generation. It further appealed for continued support from all concerned and has urged upon all to avoid any kind of violence and aggression in future as well.

Workshop on earthquake resistant building

IMPHAL, FEB 18: Editors Guild Manipur on Saturday hosted a one-day seminar on “Earthquake Resistant Building in Manipur” at Classic Regency Hall, Imphal. State works commissioner K Radhakumar, who took part in the opening function of the workshop, stressed the need to make a survey of the multi storey buildings constructed in the city under the By-Law of Imphal Municipal Corporation to ensure safety during earthquakes. He said as a tradition in Manipur, most people do not consult architects and engineers while constructing their houses but consult the chief mason. Radhakumar further said that even though the architects were consulted there is big gap between the masons and architects. He insisted that the training program provided by the Public Works Department to the masons need to be done in a larger scale. The works commissioner added that the PWD can issue certificates to trained masons so that people can consult them during construction. State PWD chief engineer M Loken who spoke as resource person said that the advice of the expert should be taken while building to avoid loss of life and properties during earthquake. Reminding the recent quake that hit the state, he said that it was very necessary to give awareness among the masons as the people of the state have a certain way of building houses by consulting them. Students’ cycle rally spreads awareness on clean environment
