KOHIMA, JUL 31 (NPN): Governor designate RN Ravi reached the State Capital on Wednesday along with his family. He was received by chief minister Neiphiu Rio, deputy chief minister Y Patton, ministers, advisers and senior officers of the State government led by chief secretary Temjen Toy. The governor designate also took general salute at Raj Bhavan courtyard upon his arrival, which was accorded by Nagaland Police personnel. KOHIMA, JUL 31 (NPN): With the fourth session of 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) scheduled from August 6, the opposition is all geared up for debate on Inner Line Permit (ILP) and Registration of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN). A f ew o p p o s i t i o n legislators told Nagaland Post that they had sent several questions to NLA secretariat and expressed the hope that, unlike last time, the alter would not turn down the questions. “They know their job,” on MLA quipped. As per the scheduled list of business, the three-day Assembly session from August 6 to 8 will witness election for the post of deputy speaker, obituary references, questions, laying of reports/paper/rules, presentation of Assembly committee reports, introduction of government of Bills (if any), introduction of government resolutions (if any) and discussion on Registration of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (Cont’d on p-7) and ILP, among others.
Patton inspects Sanuorü bridge work

KOHIMA, JUL 31 (NPN): Deputy chief minister Y Patton inspected the ongoing Sanuorü bridge construction on the main road leading to Nagaland Civil Secretariat and Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) here on Wednesday morning. Accompanied by department officials and contractors, Patton expressed satisfaction with the briefings and commented that the bridge being the main road to Secretariat and NLA should be completed at the earliest. Patton, who is in charge of home and Road & Bridges (R&B) departments, also lauded land owners for allowing the project without any disturbances and exuded confidence of continuing to receive strong cooperation from in completing the bridge. He requested the department officials and contractors to prioritise the work and complete the bridge the earliest possible time. Later briefing media persons, R&B chief engineer Limanaro said due to soil erosion, channelisation took longer time and that daily progress could not

be made to complete the construction by MarchApril 2020. On the condition of district headquarter roads, the chief engineer said a proposal had been submitted to the Centre for development and maintenance of the district roads at a cost of Rs 50 crore. Referring to the poor road condition in the State Capital, most of which are dotted with potholes, Limanaro explained that all contractors had been instructed not to carry out black-topping work during the monsoon season. She said the contractors would be responsible for filling up the potholes once the rainy season ended.
NSF asks govt not to mix ILP with RIIN
DIMAPUR, JUL 31 (NPN): While reiterating its demand for bringing Dimapur under the ambit of Inner Line Permit (ILP), Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has asked the State government not to mix it up with the proposed Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN). This was stated by NSF president Ninoto Awomi and vice-president Dievi Yano. The federation insisted that the government should not mix RIIN with ILP regime as the former was under the consideration of the committee being set up by the government. It also demanded that the government should not delay the implementation of ILP further due to RIIN or any other reason Weather update whatsoever. Meanwhile, while extending warm welcome to the Governor designate, Patton exuded confidence that Ravi’s appointment as the State’s governor gave a ray of hope towards resolution of the protracted Naga political issue as he still held the post of Centre’s interlocutor in the peace talks. Interacting with Nagaland Post at his official residence here on Wednesday, Patton said Ravi being
closely associated with the Nagas and the Naga political issue for long, he was confident that Naga political solution was not far off. The deputy chief minister also acknowledged the Central government for giving Ravi the gubernatorial assignment for Nagaland, adding it was an honour for the Nagas to have Ravi as the governor and that the citizens of the State indeed awaited his arrival with many expectations. Referring to former governor PB Acharya’s comment that a solution would be reached within 2019, Patton remarked that Ravi’s assignment was an indication of resolution for the Naga political issue. To queries on whether the cabinet had held any discussion to pave way, if solution took place anytime, besides the old slogan of paving way for the solution, Patton said nothing had been discussed so far. He added that not only the cabinet or PDA partners, but every elected member would be taken on board for broader discussion.
NLA session: Oppn NPF gears up for debate on ILP, RIIN

Grade-IV appts should be as per norms: ASU DIMAPUR, JUL 31 (NPN): Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has impressed upon every department to strictly adhere to the established norms of appointments whereby all the resultant Grade-IV vacancies be appointed according to the laid down rules. ASU president Vizokho Zashümo and general secretary PetekhrietuoKiewhuo also reminded about the December 7, 2016 Office Memorandum, which notified that appointment of Grade-IV posts in districts shall be filled by respective indigenous inhabitants of the districts only. However, ASU said “several Grade-IV posts were contested by non-indigenous candidate and rampant appointments were made by certain departments and politicians”. ASU has cautioned that any deviation or flouting of the order would not be accepted or tolerated under any circumstances. K Y M C
