NSCN/GPRN condemns AR raid DIMAPUR: NSCN/ GPRN has strongly condemned the raid carried out by 3 Assam Rifles under the command of major Narendra at the residence of Z. James Angami, kilonser and member, Cease-Fire Monitoring Cell (CFMC), during the wee hours of April 8 at Kohima Village. In a condemnation note, MIP NSCN/GPRN claimed that despite identifying himself as a card holder bearing No.111 and a member of CFMC, the AR alleged that he owned a Chinese Rifle and insisted on surrendering the same. Having denied that he possessed such Rifle (even if he had he is entitled being a card holder), the AR forcefully ransacked the rooms of his building thereby causing mental trauma to his wife and children and creating fear psychosis in the minds of nearby public, MIP stated, adding the major even allowed the cadres to intrude into the room of James’s daughter without
permission. However, MIP said, it failed to bear any witnesses to their nefarious design and ill motives. According to MIP, such act of AR “shows their infidelity to the yearning for peace and harmony by the peace loving Nagas”, which it said was unwarranted on the part of the AR to engage themselves in hostile activities under the pretext of specific information, which not only violate Cease-fire ground rules but also sowed seeds of mistrust between the two negotiating parties. Therefore, while condemning the raid, NSCN/ GPRN reminded the AR that such provocation was not the first time and if unchecked, will have a serious ramification in considering the initiative towards a lasting final solution to the ongoing political talks. MIP further urged upon the Government of India should fix responsibility upon the erring officer for such unjustifiable action.
Deputy commissioner Kiphire, Sedevikho Khro in his speech stated that the opening of polytechnic would be a blessing for the young generation. He urged the local people not to obstruct development but to welcome it with a changed attitude for progress. He also stated that people should develop the sense of belongingness on public/govt. property. He also thanked the development of technical education for giving a polytechnic institute to Kiphire district. The program was attended by govt. officers, officials of USLP, student leaders, chairman, GBs and public of Langkok village.
