t a time when employment has become a big problem with the only source of jobs over saturated already, a Naga gentleman has been quietly making his ends meet making flower pots and stands. Vizovolie Zumvü, a resident of Diphupar village, is a professional potter since 2000 and he is doing well considering the fact that he is able to run his family and afford the schooling expenses of his three children. A l tho ug h with no proper training in the field of pottery, he started the usual job rather out of passion and has somehow managed to improve himself and

sharpen his skills with time. In a chat with Nagaland Post, Vizovolie who is in his mid forties said, “God has a plan for everyone and he has given me a talent in this profession so I am happy with it and I do it with my best so that my goods would reflect my dedication and passion and the seriousness in my profession.” Adding that he moulds his pots not just for business sake or to make easy money, he said he ensures that his pots were durable and worth the price. He makes pots of all sizes, shapes and varieties, all of which had over the years gradually evolved into better ones and also has

trained himself to mould at least six to seven pots a day which will be ready for delivery in a week’s time. His pots are made with mixture of cement and sand, on this he said, “I add good quality sand to make sure that it will last through all the seasons and make my customers happy.” Citing that his business had been running solely due to some generous customers, Vizo said, “There are some customers who keep my business running, they love my work and give me positive feedbacks which drives me to keep working even if I do not receive any other help from any quarter.” Answering to a ques-

tion on the label he would like to use, Vizo replied that, “My wife has suggested that we should use Zumvü Products and I think that will also work out just fine.” He sells his pots from a makeshift corner at the edge of his courtyard just next to the Diphupar village gate, Dimapur. He said he has hopes of expanding his business but was always held back due to lack of resources. With a wry smile Vizo said, I have lost every hope of getting any help from the government, it would have helped me establish better and I have even tried to get some but it has all been in vain and now I have to solely

depend on my God’s given talent to sustain my family. A friendly neighbour who was on a visit said Vizo works hard to run his family and in doing so he had set an example even for those unemployed youths who were wasting away their talents in hopes of getting a white collared job. Vizo’s products include pots, slabs, slab stands, flower pot stands, vases etc. He has finished products for sale, takes orders and even moulds new designs basing on customers’ demand and requirements. He can be contacted at 9162-23-7776 for orders and other information. (Aneila Seyie Keretsü)

a message that the man cutting the hair is a Muslim and we are doing this willingly. I am willingly asking my Muslim brother ki kaat bhai. Instead of issuing a fatwa, if we send a message across pyaar se, I think it would be better.”
