CACTI WINTER ADAPTATIONS M $8; NM $10, Best for ages 6-10 Register by January 18 Did you know cacti can survive in below zero temperatures? Come learn about this plant’s winter adaptations. We will tour the desert side of the Crystal Bridge to spy cacti and each participant will pot up and take home their own cactus.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY CELEBRATION Park House and Crystal Bridge Conservatory Join us to commemorate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. This special day will be filled with music, crafts, and readings at the Park House Events Center and the Crystal Bridge. Bring your family as we honor Dr. King with performances by DWe Williams and Ebony Voices, Society of Urban Poets, Douglass High School “Pride of the Eastside” marching band and emcee, Alan Washington. Cyanotype is an old printing process that was popularized for blueprints and has since become a way to create unique art through science. Learn all about the process and the chemistry behind cyanotype before we go out into the Gardens and collect botanical inspiration for our pieces. We will create our own individual artwork on archival paper and flour sack tea towels that can then be taken home, washed, and display-ready within 24 hours.

Soil is the foundation for a successful garden, whether you’re growing vegetables, flowers, or shrubs. Join us as we dig deep into the biology and chemistry of soil, how to identify types of soil, troubleshoot problems, build up your soil’s health, and more. SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, 1-2:30PM

WORKSHOP: VERMICOMPOST BINS M $25; NM $30 Register by January 18 Learn how to build a ‘worm bin,’ how to keep your wrigglers healthy and happy, and how to harvest your compost from start to finish. Each guest will leave with a fully functioning bin (worms and all) and the knowledge necessary to achieve success.

Join us for a winter dinner at the Park House, catered by Kam’s Kookery. Indulge in a dinner perfectly paired with wines selected by expert, Stan Stack from Beau’s Wine Bin, as you savor delicious food and drinks. The evening will kick off with cocktails at 6pm. February 16 - March 17 Prepare to be transfixed as you step foot into the Curious World of Orchids. The Orchid Show returns to the Inasmuch Foundation Crystal Bridge Conservatory after its extensive renovation. This show will display hundreds of peculiar orchids with fascinating, unique, and wildly beautiful shapes. You’ll learn more about these exquisite flowers and what makes them such a unique and diverse plant family, which is the second largest. Make this show a stop to brighten up your winter. Learn the science behind seeds, how they grow and when to plant them. Each student will take home a starter garden of seeds.

Myriad Botanical Gardens’ annual Oklahoma Gardening School is the state’s premier annual horticultural symposium designed for home gardeners and professional horticulturists, garden designers, and landscape architects. The Oklahoma Gardening School showcases local and national experts in gardening, plant selection, and garden design. Their illustrated talks and Q&A discussions help participants learn how to create and maintain more beautiful, sustainable, and successful gardens in Oklahoma.

WORKSHOP: FORAGED FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS M $45; NM $50 Register by March 28 Learn how to create your own floral arrangement using seasonal flowers and foliage collected from the garden grounds. We’ll begin with a basic introduction on floral design, go over the already collected materials available, and then head outside to collect a few items together. We’ll end the class by creating our arrangements to take home, as well as discussing tips for foraging in your own yard and ways to prolong the life of your arrangements.
