As the summer heat gives way to the crispness of fall, I’m reminded of all the things I love about this season—football, outdoor fires, cozy sweaters, the vibrant change in leaves, pumpkin spice everything, and more.
When I started six months ago, one of my first priorities was meeting with each member of our staff. One question I consistently asked was: What tradition should we make sure to keep? Overwhelmingly, the answer was Pumpkinville. I’m thrilled to share that in 2025, we’re going all in—with an extra week added and extended evening hours on weekends. If it isn’t already one of your family’s favorite fall traditions, I hope it becomes one this year.
Just as the seasons shift, change is also in the air for Myriad Gardens. We’re entering an exciting chapter filled with new opportunities. This fall, we’re launching a strategic planning process to help prioritize our goals and shape the future of this beloved space.

With the new stadium construction underway nearby, we’re also rethinking our “front door” and how the 1.4 million people who visit each year experience the Gardens. How do we prepare to welcome not just sports fans, but also global visitors coming to Oklahoma City for the 2028 Olympics? It’s a thrilling challenge and one we’re ready to meet head-on.
These first six months have flown by, and I’m more energized than ever about the future of Myriad Gardens. I look forward to continuing this journey with you—to grow, to innovate, and to inspire our community together.
Michelle Furrer President & CEO

Pumpkinville, Myriad Botanical Gardens’ beloved fall tradition, returns with a brand-new theme: “The Museum of Pumpkinville,” presented by OG&E. This year’s event has been extended by an additional week and expanded hours, giving guests even more time to enjoy the festivities.
This year’s theme celebrates the wonder of museums around the world. Guests can explore more than 50,000 pumpkins, gourds, and other fall foliage creatively arranged into exhibits that replicate popular museum installations. Visit the Art exhibit to see famous paintings brought to life, Space to explore pumpkin-made rockets and planets, or the Prehistoric display to encounter dinosaurs and skeletons. Additional exhibits include highlights from transportation history, oceanography, entomology, geology, history, and science.
Pumpkinville is a fundraiser for the Myriad Gardens Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with corporate and community groups to enhance the educational, aesthetic, cultural, and economic development of Oklahoma City.
In addition to presenting sponsor OG&E, 2025 Pumpkinville is supported by Devon Energy, Delta Dental, the E.L. and Thelma Gaylord Foundation, Express Employment International, Bank of Oklahoma, Inasmuch Foundation, Midtown Renaissance, MetroFamily Magazine, Tinker Federal Credit Union, and Renewal by Andersen.

Help support critical infrastructure and pedestrian bridge repairs at Myriad Botanical Gardens by voting YES on October 14. A portion of the City’s project budget is allocated to improvements at Myriad Gardens. In early 2025, the pedestrian bridge connecting the north and south sections of the Gardens across the pond was closed due to needed structural repair work. Approximately $2.5 million has been earmarked for this project. An additional $2.5 million will support other maintenance projects, including upgrades to the Gardens’ campus lighting and repairs to the Children’s Garden.
During a general obligation (GO) bond election, voters decide whether to fund major infrastructure projects across the city.
GO bonds are municipal bonds that allow state and local governments to raise money for projects that may not generate a direct revenue stream, such as building and rebuilding streets, bridges, sidewalks, and more. This type of bond is the City’s most important tool to maintain and expand its infrastructure and relies on property taxes for funding, and Oklahoma City’s strong credit rating means it can issue bonds at low interest rates for a sustainable and efficient funding source.
Bond projects on the ballot in 2025 were determined by resident survey results, street and bridge ratings, planning studies, the City Council’s strategic priorities, and operating impact. The 2025 package includes $2.7 billion to fund 11 fundamental categories of projects like building or repaving streets, bridges, traffic control, sidewalks, and more.

Bond programs are funded by property taxes; however, the 2025 bond won’t raise property taxes. The average rate, 16 mills, will remain at the same service level.
Residents will vote separately on each Bond Proposition. Funding for Myriad Gardens’ projects is included in the Parks and Recreation Facilities Proposition.
Please vote YES on October 14 to support Myriad Gardens and the other important projects the GO Bond will fund.

Meet Clarence Long! Clarence, who has been a member since 2024, is a macro nature photographer here in Oklahoma City. Clarence spends his time traveling to capture the nature around us in an extraordinary way. Last fall, his work was featured in the Inasmuch Foundation Crystal Bridge Lobby as part of our rotating art exhibits. Clarence and his family are frequent visitors to Myriad Botanical Gardens.

Q: Tell us about your family, and how long you have lived in OKC? I was born and raised in OKC for the past 25 years with my father, mother, step-mother, sister, and two step-brothers.
Q: What made you interested in becoming a member of the gardens? In early 2024, I was presented with the idea by the Myriad Gardens staff at the front desk, as I often visit the park to take macro photographs of the flora and fauna. Additionally, I want to support local organizations with my patronage.
Q: What is a core memory made with your family at the gardens? My artwork was featured in the first-ever macro photography exhibition at the Myriad Gardens in September 2024. Many of my family and friends were there to support me. I had a wonderful time connecting with the community and showcasing my passion for macro nature photography.

Q: Which benefits do you enjoy the most as a member? I enjoy the reciprocal membership with the American Horticulture Society the most. With this benefit, I can get free or reduced admission to over 300 gardens across North America. I often travel to cities like Tulsa, Dallas, and Fort Worth for business opportunities and family, where I have the special privilege to gain admission to their botanical gardens for free!
Q: Where is your favorite place on property to visit? My favorite place to visit is the waterfall area with the misty rocks near the center of the conservatory. I’ve captured awesome images of various species of flowers, spiders, and damselflies!

Movies at Myriad Gardens has been a summer staple in Downtown OKC for years. We were especially excited to welcome a new partner this year to help us fund this popular, free family event. Oklahoma’s Credit Union helped us continue our summer tradition as well as add a date-night series in September called Moonlight Movies. Thank you for your valuable support!
What interested you about sponsoring the movie series at Myriad Gardens - both the summer and new fall series?
At Oklahoma’s Credit Union, we’re always looking for ways to bring people together and create moments that make our community stronger. Sponsoring the Myriad Gardens Summer Movie Series and the new Moonlight Movies series gave us the chance to help provide a fun, free, and family-friendly experience for everyone to enjoy. There’s something special about watching a movie under the stars in such a beautiful space. It’s a memory-maker, and we’re happy to be a part of it.
Why does this partnership make sense for OKCU?
This partnership reflects who we are at our core. As a local financial cooperative, we exist to serve Oklahomans. One of our core values is “We Care,” and that means taking action to support the community where we live and work. Our mission is helping Oklahomans do more with their money, and part of that is creating opportunities for people to enjoy quality experiences without a cost barrier. Offering free movies in the Gardens is a perfect way to live out our mission while staying true to our “Happy to Help” spirit.
Our new fall series, Moonlight Movies, was featured in September. What did you hope to see from this series?
We hope the Moonlight Movies series will become a new tradition for Oklahoma City, and something that brings people together year after year. Whether it’s a date night, friends catching up, or families enjoying time together these events have the power to strengthen our community. We also hope it inspires more partnerships like this, where local organizations come together to create something special for the community.

Is there anything else that you’d like our members and guests to know about OKCU?
Oklahoma’s Credit Union has been serving our community for over 70 years, and we’re more than just a financial institution. We’re a partner in helping Oklahomans reach their goals. Whether it’s your first checking account, a new car, or a dream home, we’re here to make it easy and to help you along the way. We’re proud to support events like the Myriad Gardens movie series because giving back is part of who we are. We’re always happy to help.

Preliminary conceptual designs for the Oklahoma City New Arena were unveiled by Mayor David Holt during his 2025 State of the City address this summer. Myriad Gardens’ impressive new neighbor is scheduled to open by late summer 2028. Demolition of the former Prairie Surf Studios will continue through the end of 2025, with new construction beginning in early 2026.

Designed by MANICA Architecture, the arena promises to be one-of-a-kind; unique and transformative for Oklahoma’s capital city and serve as a catalyst for the city’s ongoing economic and cultural renaissance.
“The primary purpose of our new arena was to secure a long-term future with major league professional sports, and to keep us competitive for concerts, but there are secondary benefits as well,” said Mayor Holt. “One of those other benefits is the opportunity to raise the aesthetic bar in our downtown and to make an architectural statement. This arena has the potential to become a signature building for our city, known around the world.”
The arena’s west-facing main entrance, aligned with the adjacent Myriad Botanical Gardens and reflecting Oklahoma sunsets, features Thunder Alley—a vibrant fan activation zone at street level designed within the arena footprint.
We’re excited for the future of downtown Oklahoma City and the new home for the OKC Thunder!
