Table Tennis Mounties

What a year it has been for Mounties Table Tennis. Commencing with 2019 AGM in February with election of a new executive committee. Suggestions were submitted, voted on & passed to reward Alex Chan Life Membership of MTTC for his long-term contribution to MTTC as treasurer and player. It was also moved and accepted that MTTC life member Lester Vibert be made Patron of MTTC in honor of his many years of steering the ship as president and player of MTTC

This year MTTC have again been able to enter two A grade, one B grade and one C grade team competing in the TTWS Summer and winter Competition with good results for the summer competition as well as in strong position for the winter competition in the company of very strong opposing teams. On the home front, news was not so good as our long-time past president Lester Vibert returned to Liverpool Hospital only to lose his second leg. We wish him a speedy recovery. In the lead up to Mounties Invitation Tournament, MTTC conducted a qualifying table tennis event for MTTC men and ladies’ members with winners offered FREE entry to the invitation tournament. Winner in the Men Section was Sean Dang, and the Ladies event was Yoshika Tran This year for the first time in many years, MTTC were able to field a full complement of players taking part in the Mounties Terry Jackson Shield. Everyone had a great time. July’s Mounties Invitation Tournament again was a great success with assistance of sports director Jenny McNevin and MTTC executive committee supported by a team of MTTC Volunteers, without whom this event could not take place. A great thank you to all involved. After the invitation event followed the Mountied Members Championsip. A huge number of contestants put in their entries for both Single and double play. Winner Sean Dang, runner up Roger Phan. A thrilling match. Double Event was won by Tin Ngo & Xuan Dung Le. Runner Up Quan Nguyen & Roger Pham. Coming up on Sunday 6th October in the annual Graded Championships open only to MTTC 2019 financial members. On this note it is extremely pleasant to highlight MTTC 2019 membership which stands at present at 210 paid up members. A rewarding achievement for members of the executive committee, president Steven Doung and secretary Darren Paget. Mounties 2019 Sports Presentation will be well attended by members on MTTC to the limit made available including championship winners & runners-up and life member recipient Preparations for 2019 MTTC members Xmas & Presentation are at present underway and final details will be posted on notice board in the table tennis area.
