Garden Harbord Diggers

The Cribbage club has had another wonderful year of card playing and this year we managed to hold all our regular competitions. It is so lovely being back at the Diggers and everyone is very happy with our venue and the staff are extremely helpful.

The Garden Club is affiliated with the Royal Horticultural Society whose Annual Show will be held at Rivendell 28th-29th September 2019, at the Thomas Walker Estate, Parramatta River Concord.

We are also affiliated with the Garden Clubs of Australia Incorporated. The convention will be held in October 2019 at Norfolk Island. Garden Clubs of Australia have 715 clubs, Sydney have 93 clubs.

Our 28th birthday luncheon was celebrated at the Diggers 12th July 2019 in the Freshwater and Curl Curl rooms. Visitors were from H.A.C Mounties and Fairlight Club. Also, the Zone Coordinator Margaret Makin. ANZAC Day commemoration was held in the car park at the Easter flagpole, a book was donated to the Harbord Primary School.

Membership is 25 with two life members. Six members of the Garden Clubs of Australia received the Medal of Order of Australia for services to Horticulture, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. We travelled with Fairlight club to the country for a day and sometimes a week.

During November a trip is proposed to Crookwell Open Gardens, this venue is renowned in the garden world. The A.G.M was held 25th August, with Pamela Hansen in attendance.

We meet on the fourth Sunday of the month in the community rooms.
