Men's Bowling Manly Bowling Club

2019 has been a great year for our Manly Men’s Bowling Club.

We fielded 3 Pennant Teams in Zone 9. Grades 3, 5 & 6. Each side consists of 12 Bowlers plus the expected reserves. We lost several Bowlers because of our sub-standard greens but the Manly spirit rose to the occasion. We managed to win our Sections in both the Grade 3 and Grade 5.

Whilst we failed to win the Zone Flag in either Grade it was a great result for our Club, and we are looking forward to 2020. Our Premier Event, the Club Singles Final was played by Graham Lewis and last year’s winner in Anthony Moss. The match proved to be a great game played in good spirit with Graham Lewis too good on the day. Our Club Pairs game came down to the last bowl of the day and congrats to Will Falconer & Anthony Moss in a narrow victory over last year winners in Graham Lewis & Dave Baker. The John Ballantyne President Singles is open to our lower grades and new Bowlers. Paul Coulton, a new Bowler, proved too strong for last year’s winner in Jason Hardman. My favourite event of the year, the Graded Fours, was the first event of the year and played in great spirit. In a classic case of Sportsmanship, the 2019 Final was played by a last minute make up team of Tom Sutherland, Danny Brosnan, Paul Rickets/Roy Anderson and Will Falconer, against the favourites of Tim Bourke, Chris Hawkins/Noel Ryan, Barry Rothwell and Dave Baker. Yes, the last-minute team of Falconer got up by one point over the Baker side. We would like to thank the Mounties Group for their continued support.
