Bocce Triglav

Bocce is a traditional Mediterranean sport and Australian Slovenians used to play it in the old country, where every village had at least one or two sand courts for the men to play on Sunday afternoon. The love for Bocce is shared with other Mediterranean countries, like Italy, France, Croatia and some more.

When we have built Triglav Club half a century ago, we have built first small bocce court and then bigger ones, and now we have six lanes, where we play together and sometimes against other clubs in the neighbourhood. First it was only men, who were playing, but later, Australia being an equal opportunity country, the women started playing too and now we prefer to play mixed teams, as they come. It used to be only Slovenians, but now under the benevolent umbrella of Mounties Group of Clubs, we have Slovenians and Croatians, Italians and Istriani and even South Americans, if they are nice, friendly and love Bocce. We take part in the Interclub competitions and we invite other clubs to come and play and have dinner together, on the occasions like Slovenian Independence Day Cup or Slovenian Cultural Day Cup, with good food and good prizes for the winners. We play every Wednesday and every Saturday from 12.30 to 17.00 pm and we have a dinner together on Saturday’s after the game. new players are welcome, everybody is welcome. if you don’t know, how to play bocce we will teach you, it is a good way to exercise and keep healthy.
