STATE LEAGUE SOFTBALL Mounties

2018-19 Season has been a successful year for many of our state league players. Our 2018 State League team finished 4th position in a rain disrupted season. This was a good result considering 50% of the games were washed out. Nathan Dickinson, one of our senior members of the team was awarded with the MVP award for this season.

Many of our players and officials represented NSW during the National Championship season which is played in January. Jeremy Garland, Ethan Field, Hayden Shaw, Blake Hunter, Caden Keed, Blake Becquet, Elliott Kirgan, Klayton Kilpatrick, Joshua Banks and Xander Ruggeri were all members of the Under 17 NSW team which were runners up at the National Championship. This team was also coached by our club head coach Peter Rainer and Ethan and Klayton were named as Captain and Vice-Captain of this team. Ethan Field receive the batting award for this tournament, with Blake Hunter taking the Pitching award and Hayden Shaw walking away with the MVP award.

Jarred Garland was our lone representative in the Under 19 boys, and achieved not only a spot in the team, but named as Vice-Captain. This team finished as runners up in a nail-biting tie-breaker game. Our open men’s representatives were Lachlan Hay, Jayden Lach, Nathan Dickinson and Mitchell Brownlow, as well as head coach Peter Rainer appointed as an assistant to this team. Mitchell Brownlow was awarded as MVP for this tournament.

Mitchell, Lachlan and Jayden all were named in the Australian Steelers team to participate in the Trans – Tasman Cup in New Zealand, with Mitchell going on to be named in the Australian Steelers Squad. Unfortunately Missing out on a spot in the final team to participate at the world championships. Jeremy Garland, Ethan Field, Hayden Shaw, Blake Hunter, Caden Keed, Blake Becquet, Klayton Kilpatrick, Joshua Banks were all named in the Australian Junior Steelers squad to tour NZ in February, in the first of 3 trails for the Jr Steelers to compete in the 2020 world championships. Jeremy, Ethan, Hayden, Blake, Caden, and Josh, all went on to represent the Jr Steelers at the Under 23 Men’s Nationals championships, with Izack Rossi and Aiden Kelly representing NSW in the same tournament. NSW were runners up with the Jr Steelers finishing 3rd. Ethan was awarded with his 2nd Batting award for the year, and Izack was named as MVP.

Our success keeps growing, with 9 players named in the 2020 Under 18 men’s team, with Peter Rainer once again taking the reigns as head coach. Yours in Sport
