Soccer – Junior Mounties
In 2019 Mounties Junior Soccer Club had 42 soccer teams, with over 520 players ranging in age from 4 to 54 years of age. There were 15 small-sided field and mini teams, 7 junior teams, 16 youth teams and 4 senior teams.
Highlights for the year included four teams reaching the semifinal of the Football NSW State Cup – U13-1, U14-1B, U15-1 and U16-1. U14-1B and U13-1 reached the Grand Final, with U13-1 winning the whole comp. This year saw many Mounties teams coming second and not quite securing the Minor Premiership. The exception were U14-2 and the U16-1. The U16-1 won the Minor Premiership by a whopping 13 points and was also able to secure the Premiership, winning the Grand Final in a much closer affair.

In all, of 20 competition teams, 17 were in semi-finals and 11 reached the Grand Final, for 5 Premierships. During the year, the U13-1 and U15-1 teams also participated in the Kanga Cup and Bathurst Cup tournaments. Of course, it is not just about winning. Mounties Soccer prides itself on trying to make a team for all players who come to trials and especially those who have not played before. Highlights in this regard were U12-3 and L16-2, as well as a few the mini teams.
The Club organised a very experienced professional coach to run training sessions for the parent volunteer coaches. At the end of the season, we also invited our young players to participate in a Mounties Soccer Academy at low cost. Like any sport, if a player improves their skill, they will find it more enjoyable. Overall, it was a successful year on the park for Mounties – but of course we also want to improve and do better, both on and off the park.
