THINGS ARE HOTTING UP

Whichisbetter–UnderfloorHeatingorRadiators?

When refurbishing or building a new home, there is a lot to consider when it comes to heating. Often the first decision is between underfloor heating

EASE OF INSTALLATION & COSTS

This really depends on the stage of the project in question. If it is a new self-build home then installing underfloor heating is relatively straightforward as it can be added in before the final flooring/screed level goes in. It will also be suitably insulated beneath to help with energy efficiency. However, to retrofit underfloor heating to an existing floor can prove costly, messy and time consuming as you might need to dig up the floor. In terms of installation costs, for installation at the same stage of the project, there is very little difference in the costs to install either underfloor heating or standard radiators.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

The only way to make any heating system energy efficient is to improve the heat retention of the room or building itself by installing measures such as double glazing, fitted external doors, cavity walls, roof insulation and chimney cushions etc. Otherwise, regardless of whether you have underfloor heating or radiators you will be losing heating and therefore wasting energy and money. If a room is cold, it would be better to invest in some of these measures first before investing in bigger radiators or underfloor heating.

Whilst it is generally thought that underfloor heating has the edge in terms of efficiency, as radiator technology continues to develop and improve new energy-efficient radiators are being introduced all the time. These radiators are more efficient because they use lower volumes of water, sometimes up to 90% less than conventional radiators. Less water means less energy is required to heat it. For example, aluminium radiators have less water content and faster reaction times than their steel equivalents. These models are designed to give the maximum amount of heat from the lowest amount of energy used.

RUNNING COSTS

In terms of running costs, much of this comes down the energy efficiency and both systems have their merit. The biggest factor affecting either option is the thermal performance of the home in which they are installed. If the home is losing heat via the fabric of the building due to poor insulation, energy and therefore money will be wasted, whichever system is chosen. While it is generally thought that underfloor heating has the edge, this will also depend on whether either system is water-based or electric and the model of radiator.

PRODUCT LIFE

Piping for underfloor heating is generally expected to last 50 years, compared to 10-20 years for quality and well-looked after radiators. However, it should also be noted that once underfloor heating is installed, if it goes wrong, it can cause significant upheaval with floors. It may even prove too problematic to fix. On the other hand, radiators are more easily accessible to change, upgrade and fix, in the unlikely situation of something going wrong.

HEAT PUMPS

Heat Pumps can work very well with either underfloor heating or radiators. They generally work most efficiently when operating at lower temperatures and so are suited to most underfloor heating systems. The key consideration is making sure both are sized in accordance with the level of heat the heat pump will generate.

Radiators with more surface area are best for heat pumps as they can transfer heat more effectively into the surrounding space, although this doesn’t always have to mean larger radiators. Energy efficient radiators are designed to maximise the amount heat generated and often includes features like fins, convectors, or other elements that increase the surface area available for heat exchange in more clever, discreet ways. These energy-efficient radiators also include an optimised heat exchanger, which uses 90% less water than is used in standard radiators, meaning less energy is needed to heat the water up. This also brings other advantages in that the radiators take less time to heat up and you lower your carbon footprint at the same time.

LIFESTYLE

Underfloor heating means the heating is on almost all of the time during the winter, albeit running at a lower temperature for the vast majority of the time. This is so the floor does not have time to cool down, which would then result in a longer time to heat up again when needed. This enables your floors to become a heat emitter providing a radiant warmth with an even spread of heat. Alternatively, radiators take less time to heat up than underfloor heating and depending on the type, these can be programmed to come on to bring the home up to temperature when needed. They provide a more direct source of heat which will warm one area initially before circulating. Which type of heat preferred really comes down to personal taste here.

SPACE

One obvious advantage that underfloor heating does have compared to radiators is that it takes up no wall space. In today’s modern homes which often feature open plan living arrangements and large expanses of glass, this can be useful as wall space is lacking. However, in these instances radiators should not be dismissed altogether as constant developments are such that they are taking up less and less space to achieve the same heat output. Vertical radiators are available in an array of slimline sizes and curved radiators that fit into corners are now an efficient way of using underutilised wall space.

DESIGN

Whilst underfloor heating is the understated option, some may choose to use their radiator as an interior design statement. Modern designer radiators come in a huge range of stylish on-trend finishes and can be chosen to compliment the home interior or indeed can make a focal point in a room. ‘Art’ radiators include such models with famous paintings or even a personal photograph applied to the heating panel, appearing more as a piece of art than a radiator.

The Radiator Centre is a UK based company with 6 showrooms around the UK. As one of the largest providers of the very best designer radiators, whatever radiator solution you are searching for, you are almost certain to find it here. Our extensive range includes designer radiators, traditional radiators and cast iron radiators. EXQUISITE FINISH

LeadDesigner,CeriHill,ofChalkhouseKitchens takesusthroughoneofhermostrecentdesigns

This lovely detached house is set in beautiful grounds, with a feature landscaped area surrounding the house and more open areas of fields beyond, so making the most of the views outside were a priority when it came to re-designing the kitchen and dining area.

A small study area off the kitchen was taken down to open up the whole space and increase the footprint of the kitchen itself, whilst a new picture window was opened up on the side to give views over the fields, often filled with grazing sheep.

The large island with casual seating was positioned so that the family could watch TV whilst having breakfast but also enjoy the views over the gardens to both front and rear of the property.

Classic Shaker in-frame cabinets were given a slightly more contemporary look by the use of slimmer frames on all the doors, whilst the ultramodern island features both slatted oak end panels and book matched oak veneered drawer fronts, picking up on the oak recessed TV wall.

The slatted oak doors on the hidden cupboards at the back of the island keep the casual seating area streamlined whilst also giving additional storage.

Gorgeous Dekton worktops were used on the island, with waterfall end panel detail showcasing the stunning golden vein detail of the Enzo colourway.

The same material was also used inside the breakfast cupboard and larder, both with bespoke internal fittings, whilst a simpler toning white quartz worktop was used on the main run.

A Bora downdraft vented hob, with ample room to both sides for food prep, is the perfect place to cook whilst entertaining, overlooking both the dining table and seating area.

The tall run has a central housing with Miele oven, combi and warming drawer which is flanked on one side by matching Miele full height fridge and freezer and on the other by a luxury larder unit, complete with solid oak internal drawers.

Dramatic Armac Martin handles in solid brass are used on the tall cabinets in this run, whilst smaller versions and co-ordinating knob handles are used on the rest of the kitchen cabinetry.

The main run features two sinks, both with matching Quooker hot taps, the larger for general washing up, the smaller one primarily used as a tea and coffee making station handily positioned near the breakfast cupboard.

A stunning, multi arm central light in brass makes a real statement over the island, something a little different and also neatly minimising the look of the unavoidable overhead beam. Brass stork wall lights are used on either side of the main run for additional lighting and interest.

BESPOKE DESIGN

Judith Jenkins was looking for the perfect finishing touch for her family home that suited her modern interior renovations. The Vega (pictured) was the ultimate secure upgrade that her home needed.

The large, glazed area combined with a long, premium pull bar handle really gives the Vega design a striking appearance, creating a statement entranceway for your home and a seamless link between indoor and outdoor space.

Smooth Navy Ulti-Matt combined with Satin glazing in the door fills the hallway with natural light while maintaining a sophisticated finish.

Justin Maunder, Director of Vale Composite Doors, said: “The Avantal is a range of ultra-modern, contemporary door models that have been designed to create a sleek and stylish entranceway.

“Inspired by the smooth finish offered by industrial materials such as aluminium, the Avantal range has been engineered to offer superior contemporary aesthetic, whilst also delivering our quality solid construction and unrivalled levels of security.

“Avantal doors are available in a range of ultra-modern monochrome and realistic woodgrain finishes, allowing you to achieve a contemporary, high-end finish for your home’s entrance.

“All our doors are renowned for their strength and security, the 48mm thick cross-bonded veneered laminated solid timber core delivers unrivalled strength and dimensional stability and is a natural choice for high security, providing our customers with peace of mind.

“Why not have a go at designing your own dream composite door using our exciting HomeView Door Designer? Simply upload an external photograph of the door you wish to replace and add your chosen design to the image. This is a great way to see what the finished product could look like.”

Judith added: ““Vale Composite Doors offer excellent service from start to finish. Incredibly high standard of work by the fitter - he took away the old door and made sure to clean up all the mess. I would highly recommend.”

There’s something about cooking with fire that speaks to our primal instincts. The sizzle of searing steak, the smoky depth of slow-cooked meats, and the crisp perfection of flame-baked bread—cooking over an open flame brings out the best in food.

But, for many, the thought of wrangling with charcoal, battling inconsistent temperatures, and dealing with temperamental flames is enough to stick to a gas grill.

Enter the Charlie Oven, a stylish, all-season charcoal oven that takes the stress out of fire cooking while delivering professional-grade results.

Fire cooking is where flavour truly shines—imparting a depth that gas or electric simply can’t match. But controlling an open flame has long been an art form that requires patience and skill.

The Charlie Oven changes all that, offering an intuitive, front-opening design that makes regulating heat levels a breeze.

Whether you’re aiming for the high-heat char of a steak or the slow-cooked tenderness of a brisket, Charlie makes it effortless to cook with precision. No more constant flipping, checking, or worrying—just perfect results every time.

Outdoor dining spaces are evolving. Gone are the days of clunky, uninspiring barbecues—today, an outdoor kitchen is as much about aesthetics as it is about performance. With its bold, customisable colours and sleek, architectural design, Charlie isn’t just an oven; it’s a statement piece. Whether placed on a sun-drenched patio or nestled into a landscaped garden, it brings a pop of colour and sophistication that’s impossible to ignore.

Why the Charlie Oven Stands Out

Multi-Level Cooking: A Unique Superpower – Unlike traditional outdoor ovens and barbecues, Charlie’s spacious design allows for multi-level cooking, meaning you can grill, roast, bake, or smoke multiple dishes simultaneously. This feature makes it perfect for preparing a full feast with minimal effort— everything cooks at its ideal temperature without compromise.

More Than Just a Pizza Oven – While it can churn out three perfect pizzas in minutes, Charlie also bakes bread, roasts meats, grills vegetables, and smokes everything from ribs to fish.

A Smarter Alternative to Ceramic Egg BBQs – With a larger cooking area, better heat control, and improved fuel efficiency, Charlie outperforms traditional ceramic cookers in both versatility and ease of use.

A Better Choice Than a Gas Grill – Gas grills might be convenient but lack the deep, smoky flavour that only real fire cooking can achieve.

Built for All-Weather Cooking – Handmade in Britain and designed to withstand the elements, this is an oven that works just as well in midwinter as it does on a balmy summer evening.

Effortless Efficiency – Thanks to its insulated design, Charlie retains heat beautifully, requiring less fuel while maintaining steady cooking temperatures for hours.

With outdoor kitchens taking centre stage in home design, the Charlie Oven is the must-have appliance for 2025. Combining stunning aesthetics with unparalleled cooking versatility, it offers a seamless way to enjoy fire cooking without the hassle.

Whether you’re a seasoned chef or just love the idea of cooking outdoors, this oven is set to change the way we think about open-fire cooking.

Wherevertheroadsleadyou,theMazdaCX-5 deliverspowerfuldrivingdynamicspairedwithnew fuel-savingMazdaMHybridtechnology

The latest Mazda CX-5 builds on the success of the significantly updated Mazda CX-5, which made its debut in January 2022, so it’s no surprise that the award-winning styling, cabin and chassis of Mazda’s spacious and dynamic SUV remains unchanged.

The newest Mazda CX-5 sees the introduction of 24v Mazda M Hybrid mild-hybrid technology across all petrol models, while the addition of cylinder deactivation to 165ps petrol automatic models, means all petrol CX-5s now feature this efficient technology – the result of both updates is a petrol CX-5 range average CO2 reduction of 9g/km.

Other incremental updates to the Mazda CX-5 include the introduction of wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, while the front USB ports are changed to USB-C. Additionally, the Mazda CX-5 is offered with Mazda’s signature paint colour – Rhodium White, which made its debut on the larger Mazda CX-60 SUV. Like Soul Red Crystal and Machine Grey, Rhodium White is created using Mazda’s fantastic Takuminuri painting technology.

The Mazda CX-5 retains the same 15-model line-up, but it now features new trim level naming to match other cars in the Mazda family. The Mazda CX-5 range features five trim levels: Centre-Line, Newground, Exclusive-Line, Homura and Takumi. Individual model grades feature subtle styling differentiation to give customers the option of choosing a CX-5 with a unique character and focus.

The three stand out trim grades: Newground, Homura and Takumi each have a distinct personality to ensure the CX-5 range offers lots of choice for individual style.

The entry point to the CX-5 range is the Centre-Line model, which is offered with the 165ps e-Skyactiv G petrol. Also offered exclusively with the 165ps e-Skyactiv G engine, the stand-out Newground features a slightly more rugged look with front and rear silver underguard trims matched to silver lower body side skirts, black door mirrors and 19inch black diamond cut alloy wheels. Subtle lime green accents in the grille are replicated inside where the black half leatherette seats have matching green piping. Perfect for an active lifestyle, the boot even features a reversible waterproof boot floor.

The Exclusive-Line is offered with a choice of 165ps e-Skyactiv G petrol or 184ps Skyactiv-D diesel.

The Homura trim is another model that offers customers a unique look, offered exclusively with the 165ps e-Skyactiv G petrol engine and front wheel drive, it delivers a sportier interpretation of the CX-5’s look with gloss black detailing on the wheel arches, side mouldings, door mirrors and signature wing grille surround.

Subtle red accents within the grille and 19-inch black alloy wheels finish the sporty look, while inside the black leather seats feature red stitching, which is also found around the cabin in areas like the door trim, centre console and steering wheel.

Sitting at the top of the Mazda CX-5 range, the Takumi is a premium flagship model that combines a unified one-colour exterior with a high-class interior that features the smooth tactility of brown Nappa leather and the luxurious textures of genuine woodgrain.

Externally, the single colour body and trim details highlight the CX-5’s dynamic proportions, while the cabin features the luxurious materials and high levels of technology you’d expect of a premium SUV.

The Mazda CX-5 Takumi also features a wide choice of engine, drivetrain and transmission with both the 2.0-litre 165ps e-Skyactiv G and 194ps 2.5-litre e-Skyactiv G petrol available. As before, the 165ps engine is matched to front wheel drive, while the larger 194ps petrol comes exclusively with all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. The Takumi is also offered with the 184ps Skyactiv-D diesel matched to all-wheel drive.

Thanks to the unique styling of the Newground, Homura and Takumi models, and a 15-model range, the Mazda CX-5 is a family SUV tailored around customers to give them more choice and options for personalisation.

Benefiting from the new styling introduced in January 2022, the Mazda CX-5 features the latest evolution of its award-winning Kodo Design. The front and rear bumper designs combine with the headlight and taillight clusters to give the CX-5 a distinctly modern and sharper look. At the front the three-dimensional and powerful grille design is combined with a signature wing trim that no longer heads into the lamp cluster, while at the rear the bumper shape and strong taillight design sharpens the rear styling.

The Mazda CX-5 features Mazda Intelligent Drive select (Mi-Drive), which enables the driver to select the most appropriate drive mode with one touch of a switch. On 194ps petrol Takumi models the i-Activ AWD system now benefits from an Off-Road Mode, which makes driving feel more natural on un-made and slippery surfaces. Other tech highlights include wireless Qi phone charging tray in the centre console, while the updated range of i-Activsense safety systems standard across the range includes Cruise & Traffic Support (CTS). CTS helps reduce driver fatigue by assisting with accelerator, brake pedal and steering operations when stuck in traffic jams.

Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK, said: “the Mazda CX-5 is an incredibly important car in Mazda’s history. From the launch of the original first-generation car in 2012 it has been a hugely popular choice for UK SUV buyers, who have loved its style, quality and driver engagement. It’s the car that established Mazda as a maker of genuinely sporty SUVs, which deliver class leading quality and high levels of standard equipment”.

Adding, “with the introduction of Mazda M Hybrid technology across all petrol models, CX-5 customers will benefit from improved efficiency, plus lower fuel and tax costs.

Ultimately, the Mazda CX-5 is built for active families, offering an engaging drive and advanced safety technologies. The stunning design never fails to impress, particularly adorned in Rhodium White.

STEELING THE SHOW

It’s been another incredible month for entrepreneur Nicola Steele - the passionate business woman has managed to raise even more funds throughout the month of February, which will go towards her mammoth £20k target.

Nicola has until the end of the year to complete her challenge for her chosen charity, Hope Rescue, which has been saving the lives of strays, abandoned and unwanted dogs in South Wales since 2005.

Nicola is well on her way to achieving her goal, along with the help of her many, many friends and loyal customers, raising more than 35 per cent of her target already.

At the end of January, Ms Steele appeared on Wales Today to talk about her incredible fund raising journey, and was also interviewed by presenters Dot Davies and James Williams on BBC Radio Wales Breakfast about appearing on Come Dine With Me 11 years agonotorious for feeding her dogs at the table for those who remember!

The beginning of February also saw our heroine embrace a ‘Hot to Cold’ challenge, where she repeatedly subjected her body to extreme temperatures, raising £1,100 for her amazing effort.

Last issue we mentioned Nicola’s Charity Fashion Show at Old Castle Primary School, Bridgend, which was a huge success! Famous Welsh Fashion Designer David Emanuel, who designed Princess Diana’s wedding dress, was in attendance, along with Bridgend Town Mayor, Cllr Ian Williams who was raising money for Y-Bont

Nicola’s fabulous fashion show raised an impressive £2,700, with a spokesperson from Y-Bont saying: “It was really humbling to see everyone who turned up to support the event. We honestly cannot thank you all enough for what you have done - it truly is incredible!”

Nicola and her team at Venetia Steele were also nominated for an award at the Business Growth Expo. Sadly they didn’t win, but enjoyed a glamorous evening looking absolutely fabulous.

For March, Nicola has already got her sleeves rolled up and ready to go, as she’s hosting yet another fashion show at the end of the month showcasing an abundance of beautiful outfits for ‘A Day at the Races’, as well as raising funds for Hope Rescue with a ‘Zip Line’ challenge on March 22nd too - where does she find the time to do it all?

If that wasn’t enough, to coincide with this month’s wedding feature, Nicola will be hosting an extra special runway show at Court Coleman Manor (where Gavin and Stacey got married) on April 10th. Tickets are priced at £45 per person and includes afternoon tea and special guest entertainers and stylists, such as renowned wedding singer Sochia, Seren Arabia Belly Bancers, photographer Art of the Fairytale, plus many more!

Don’t forget, Nicola features guests each and every Saturday within her Bridgend Boutique, helping fellow lady businesses owners showcase their services to help and support all women to reach their goals.

As always, be sure to see what’s new from her store by following and liking the Venetia Steele social media pages.

BE YOU. BRILLIANTLY!

WespeaktothesomeofthebrilliantpupilsofSt Clare’sSchooltofindoutwhatmakesagreatleader

Nestled in 11 acres of magnificent grounds, and tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life is St Clare’s, a unique independent school, which welcomes boys and girls from 2 ½ to 18 years old.

At St Clare’s, pupil wellbeing is at the heart of everything they do. They encourage pupils to develop critical thinking and leadership skills within a supportive and challenging environment. They are by your child’s side every step of the way, from Nursery to Sixth Form.

The benefits of being an independent all-through school are allencompassing. St Clare’s provides an outstanding holistic education filled with rich and varied experiences that focus on social, emotional, physical and cognitive learning. All of these result in excellent academic outcomes.

Top-Performing Sixth Form

St. Clare’s is consistently ranked within the top 5% of schools for attainment in the UK, celebrating its track record for outstanding results at A Level.

100% of sixth form students secured their first-choice universities and competitive industry apprenticeships such as KPMG.

Helen Hier, Headteacher of St Clare’s, told LifeStyle Wales: “We are so proud of this year group and the journey they have been on.”

“They have truly lived out our school values of Achievement, Challenge and Excellence.”

“Their success is testament to the close-knit community here at St Clare’s with dedicated students and hard-working staff. St Clare’s will remain part of their family, forever their school.”

LifeStyle Wales recently paid a visit to St Clare’s to talk to its Head Students - Max Morgan and Vaishnavi Kumar , and Deputy Head Students – Jessica Crawley and Louis Parry about school life and the importance of being good role models for all pupils. Here’s what they had to say:

What motivated you to take on the role of Head Pupil?

Max: I was motivated to take on the role of Head Boy, as I believed I exhibited valuable leadership skills and a clear commitment to the school community. Furthermore, I felt that as a conscientious, confident, and polite individual, I would be a positive ambassador, serving as a role model for other students.

Vaishnavi: I really wanted to be the voice of change and be able to represent all the students in the school.

What qualities do you think are most important in a leader and why?

Louis: I think a good leader needs to take ownership and initiative in situations. They need to be a good communicator, with a warm and friendly nature so their team feels at ease when approaching them.

Jessica: A leader should have a clear vision of their objectives and how they want to achieve them. This is important for decision making and can motivate others in the team by providing direction and organisation. Communication is also important. Everyone must understand the goals and expectations.

What do you enjoy most about your role of Head Pupil?

Max: I really enjoy my role as Head Boy and being asked to represent the school during important events, such as Remembrance Days, which is an incredible honour. In turn, I appreciate and value the time spent judging competitions such as the ‘Spelling Bee,’ supporting staff and talking to prospective parents during open days, as well as helping to bring the whole school together during enrichment days.

Jessica: I enjoy being part of a team; working with other people leads to generating better ideas, and it allows everyone to contribute and share ideas that may not have come from a single person working alone. Everyone can share ideas to be able to achieve any goal or objective. Mutual support makes the tasks more enjoyable.

What is your goal for the school as Head Pupil - are you on your way to realising that dream?

Vaishnavi: My vision is to hopefully have students feeling like they have input on how things are run, making sure everyone has a voice so that their concerns can be heard.

Louis: My goal was to better connect myself with the younger pupils through the school. I feel like this aim has become realised as my role as deputy head has progressed.

How do you balance your academic responsibilities with the demands of the position?

Max: Time management is essential, and organising work in order of deadlines and priority is an effective tool, I also make teachers aware if my workload overlaps with extra responsibilities.

Jessica: Balancing the responsibilities of being part of the head team with school can sometimes be challenging, but we have been able to meet a couple of times a week to manage the tasks and responsibilities. Organising and prioritising tasks helped me manage time efficiently.

What challenges have you faced during the winter term, and how did you address them?

Max: Challenges have included working as a team during charity events and ensuring everyone takes responsibility for their roles. Organising performances and enrichment days at a smaller school often means certain resources are not available, and there are a lower number of willing participants to assist with music, decorations, cake sales, etc.

Jessica: Balancing schoolwork as well as revision for exams has been difficult, but due to the support from the teachers, I was able to manage this well.

Vaishnavi Kumar
Max Morgan

We provide a nurturing environment and treat every pupil aged 2 ½ upwards as an individual which enables them to achieve their very best.

Newton, Porthcawl CF36 5AS

admissions@stclares-school.co.uk / 01656 789966

What initiatives would you like to implement (if you haven’t already) to support student wellbeing?

Vaishnavi: I feel more regular wellbeing check-ins with form tutors would be helpful to all students.

Louis: I think the enrichment days are well suited to improving students’ well-being, and as a prefect, I help when I can with these days.

Describe a time you had to make a difficult decision as a leader and how you made that decision.

Max: The sixth-form common room is a space for us to appreciate a degree of independence, and being offered the chance to decorate the area was both exciting and challenging. Not only was there a debate as regards soft furnishings, but the views on real versus artificial plants caused tension among the group. Luckily, we were able to reconcile and move forward.

What are your thoughts on the school’s current vision and values - how have you helped to achieve this?

Vaishnavi: I think the school’s vision aligns with mine, of helping students get the best out of their education and time spent here. I’ve helped achieve this through the weekly meeting I have with the head team and my headteacher.

Jessica: One of the school’s main values is the wellbeing of its pupils. I have helped to achieve this by ensuring that students feel

What do you feel is the most important lesson you’ve learned during your time at St Clare’s?

Max: The school has taught me how to be a compassionate individual, listening to others’ opinions and taking their views into consideration, as well as the importance of humility.

Vaishnavi: Give 100% of your effort in every little thing you doalways try your very best!

Louis: I think I have learned great respect for my teachers and fellow pupils from my time at the school, as well as the benefit of having good manners and etiquette in more formal situations.

Jessica: Not every test you do will be successful, however, it helps to learn from your mistakes and reflect on what went wrong, and how you can improve next time. Time management is also important. Balancing schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and personal life can be difficult, but learning how to manage your time wisely is important for success.

Finally, if you had a magic wand and could make any wish happen for your school, what would it be and why?

Max: I feel that an indoor recreation area, including a permanent stage and drama facilities, would be beneficial to the community.

Jessica: I would wish for every child in the school to be happy and have fulfilment in their school years.

FEELING INCREDIBLE

Mrs.Evanstalkstousaboutherlife-changingjourneywith ThermiPower™

Meet Mrs. Evans, a vibrant 62-year-old woman who was ready to take control of her pelvic health and regain the confidence she deserved.

Despite leading an active life and being in a fulfilling relationship, she was struggling with bladder urgency, occasional urinary incontinence, leakage to wind, and a feeling of laxity within her vaginal area.

When she heard about ThermiPower™ at Infiniti Healthcare, she was eager to explore this innovative treatment option to address her concerns.

During her first visit, Dr. Nadia Hikary-Bhal conducted a thorough and comprehensive consultation to understand Mrs. Evans’ general and pelvic floor health, while also exploring her personal priorities and treatment expectations.

After a careful examination, Dr. Nadia determined Mrs. Evans was an ideal candidate for ThermiPower™ and customised a treatment plan to meet her unique needs, offering flexible payment options to make her journey as accessible as possible.

Mrs. Evans’ transformative three-month ThermiPower™ package began with an in-depth pelvic health assessment with Mel Jenkins, Infiniti Healthcare’s expert physiotherapist, followed by a series of 16 PelviPower sessions tailored to her specific concerns.

As part of the treatment she also underwent three ThermiVa treatments, each designed to target her vaginal health and pelvic floor function. Mid- and post-treatment physiotherapy reviews ensured Mrs. Evans was supported every step of the way.

The results were nothing short of remarkable! By her second ThermiVa treatment and after just ten PelviPower sessions, Mrs. Evans began to notice significant improvements in her bladder function and a heightened sensation during intimacy.

By the time of her final review, Mrs Evans reported an incredible transformation: her bladder urgency and incontinence had greatly improved, her leakage to wind had resolved completely, and her vagina felt noticeably tighter.

When asked to rate her quality of life on a scale from 1 (dreadful) to 10 (fantastic), Mrs. Evans’ score sky-rocketed from a 2/10 to an incredible 9/10 – a truly outstanding success story!

Mrs. Evans’ journey is a testament to the power of ThermiPower™ and the personalised, compassionate care she received at Infiniti Healthcare. Don’t let pelvic floor issues hold you back – discover how ThermiPower™ can help you regain your confidence and feel your best once again!

GIVE A DOG A HOME

HopeRescueneedshelpinfindingforeverhomesfortheloveableanimalsintheircare

Hope Rescue is the leading dog welfare charity that saves the lives of strays, abandoned and unwanted dogs in South Wales.

Since 2005, its team has given a second chance to thousands of dogs that need a new start, from its dedicated facilities in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

They commit to take all the stray dogs from six Local Authorities in South Wales -

Lucy is a delightful little lady with a heart full of love. She is a 10 year old Terrier and despite the fact she has entered double digits, this girl shows no signs of slowing down!

Lucy loves to be out and about exploring new places and smells.

Being a mature lady, it does mean Lucy has been there and done it all!

She has shown to be house trained and can be left home alone for short periods.

She walks well on her lead and is used to travelling in the car.

She can be anxious around unfamiliar dogs but with gradual introductions she can soon make friends, she is looking to be the only pet in the household.

After a long stroll, Lucy is keen to kick up her paws and stretch out in a warm spot.

Please do enquire about our Lovely Lucy!

Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and the western half of the Vale of Glamorgan.

We prepare dogs for their second chance at a happy life, taking time to assess their needs and find the perfect home.

We also provide valuable support to pet owners in crisis who need to rehome their pets.

Gwen is a striking young Dobermann and at only 2 years old has a lot of energy! After finding herself as a stray Gwen didn’t know where to turn.

It hasn’t taken her long to form strong relationships with her care givers at the Rescue Centre.

She loves to learn new things and is very attentive to those walking her.

Despite being a very bouncy girl on the surface, she masks a lot of hidden insecurities.

She can be unsure about new people and dogs and looks to her familiar people for reassurance in these situations.

For this reason she is looking to be the only pet in an adult only household.

Gwen laps up every opportunity for a cuddle with her caregivers and is a regular to the staff room for some extra TLC.

Most of all Gwen would love to find her forever family.

Hope Rescue actively campaigns for improvements to animal welfare legislation and enforcement, and provides support and advice to the public on responsible dog ownership.

Michelle is a four year old Bichon, she is a very timid girl who had never lived in a home prior to coming into us.

After spending time with one of our fantastic foster families she has really come out of her shell.

Her new found confidence has also been helped along by her canine foster sister and we are therefore looking to find her a home with another dog.

As her personality blossoms, Michelle’s beginning to show her more playful side! Once Michelle trusts you, she’s an affectionate cuddle bug who will melt into your lap.

She still finds the outside world a scary place, but is making small improvements every day.

With time and patience, Michelle will make a lovely addition to a calm household.

Call today to enquire about our wonderful belle Michelle!

BREAKING NEW GROUND

Reggae powerhouse Aleighcia Scott is making waves across the UK and beyond, cementing her place as one of the most exciting and in-demand artists of 2025.

From her prestigious role as a Coach on Y Llais - the Welsh-language adaptation of The Voice - to stepping into the legendary shoes of David Rodigan for Reggae Month on the BBC, and the announcement of her forthcoming debut Welsh-language reggae single, Aleighcia is proving that her influence knows no bounds.

As one of the four esteemed Coaches on Y Llais, the 75th adaptation of the iconic talent show The Voice, airing on S4C, Aleighcia is proud to bring diversity to the popular show. The series, which premiered on February 9th, brings together the best undiscovered voices in Wales, competing for the title of Y Llais 2025.

Joining an all-star coaching panel that includes opera legend Sir Bryn Terfel, musician and label owner Yws Gwynedd, and singer-songwriter Bronwen Lewis, Aleighcia is bringing her reggae expertise and industry know-how to help shape the next big Welsh music star.

“This competition is unlike anything else in Wales,” Aleighcia told LifeStyle Wales

“The raw talent here is phenomenal, and being able to mentor these voices at such a crucial stage in their careers is an absolute honour. Wales has always been known as the ‘Land of Song’ - and Y Llais is proving exactly why.”

During Reggae Month, Aleighcia Scott stepped up to host David Rodigan’s legendary BBC Radio 1Xtra Reggae Show. David Rodigan, a name synonymous with reggae globally, has handpicked Aleighcia to deputise for him throughout February, putting her at the helm of one of the most prestigious reggae platforms in the world.

“To be entrusted with David Rodigan’s show last month was incredible,” says Aleighcia.

“This is a space that has championed reggae legends for decades, and I was honoured to bring my own style and passion to the airwaves.”

That’s not all, Aleighcia Scott will be breaking new ground with her upcoming single, ‘Dod o’r Galon’, produced by PenDub and set for release on 21 March 2025 on Recordiau Côsh Records. This track is a monumental moment for Aleighcia, fusing reggae with the Welsh language in a way that she’s never done before.

Aleighcia told us: “I’ve wanted to learn Welsh my whole life, and after three years of lessons, I’m finally releasing my first Welsh-language song! It was so important to me to represent both of my cultures— Jamaican and Welsh—so I brought together musicians from both worlds to make this track truly special.”

With her star rising across BBC and beyond, Aleighcia Scott is firmly on the radar of critics, industry insiders, and major broadcasters.

HIDDEN DANGERS

Hot Chicks-Anewplayaboutfemalefriendship, countylines,exploitation,andlostinnocence

Sherman Theatre in Cardiff and Swansea-based creative collective Grand Ambition are joining forces to stage a brand new production exploring childhood criminal exploitation in Wales.

Hot Chicks by Rebecca Jade Hammond is an unsettling and darkly comic new play tackling one of the most urgent national crises of our times.

Penlan, Swansea. Now.

Teenagers Ruby and Kyla spend their evenings hanging at Cheney’s chicken shop dreaming of moving to Vegas and going viral. A chance encounter with older, cooler Sadie means their dreams of pool parties and showering in dollars could become a reality but at what price?

Hot Chicks will be performed at Sherman Theatre in Cardiff 21 March-5 April 2025, then at Swansea Grand Theatre 16-25 April 2025.

While developing the production, the creative team liaised with charities, social services and third sector organisations such as CMET (Contextual, Missing, Exploitation and TraffickingSafeguarding Children and Young People in Swansea), the office of the Children’s Commissioner for Wales and staff at YMCA Swansea. An education and engagement programme, borne of that research, will be delivered alongside the play to raise awareness of exploitation.

Hot Chicks is directed by Hannah Noone and performed by a cast of Welsh actors; Richard Elis, Izzi McCormack John, Londiwe Mthembu and Rachel Redford

Hannah said: “Hot Chicks follows the friendship of two 15-yearold girls growing up in Swansea today, capturing that heady mix of freedom and fear, throwing you headfirst into their fast-paced, TikTok-fuelled reality—thrilling, messy, and sometimes unsettling. It invites audiences to see the world today through their eyes—with all its new found possibilities and hidden dangers, raising urgent questions about the safety and wellbeing of young people today.”

Playwright Rebecca Jade Hammond said: “In recent years, cuts to youth clubs, community centres and closing of parks have made vulnerable young people easy targets for organised crime networks.

“More recently, there has been an increase in girls and young women playing key roles and it is those women I wanted to put front and centre of this play. Hot Chicks is about those young girls who fall through the cracks of education and society, forgotten.”
