With warmer weather on the horizon again, many people are turning to al fresco dining. is European phrase translates to ‘cool’ in Italian, and ‘outside’ or ‘fresh’ in Spanish, but the English de nition means ‘to eat outdoors’. Although we may have an occasional garden dinner during the rare opportunity of hot weather, ever since the pandemic, more restaurants are providing outdoor seating all year round. is means the people of Cardi can get the ‘al fresco experience’, even when it is ‘al freezing!’
“ e weather’s the only thing we can’t control in the business”, says Daf Andrews, Co-Founder of A&M Hospitality. He continues: “so having a strong outdoor infrastructure is key. Cardi businesses should aim to provide all-weather experiences by installing weatherproof awnings and retractable roofs for the summer.
How to go al fresco: Daf Andrews of A&M Hospitality tells all tells all
“During the winter months, having a ‘Winter Warmer’ menu that features al fresco classics like cheese fondue, boozy hot chocolate and other small plates/warm cocktails is always a winner. Restaurants could also provide heating and lighting, as well as pashminas and hot water bottles upon request.”
e latest venture for A&M Hospitality is Silures, a contemporary take on a restaurant and bar, inspired by Modern European cuisine. Located in the Roath area of Cardi , Daf says: “Silures is an integral part of the community, not only via creating an accessible but premium o ering, but by championing environmental sustainability, local supply lines and ethical practices.”
Al fresco dining is paramount to Silures, as shown by its dog-friendly area on their rear terrace, making it even easier to eat outdoors this summer.
Daf suggests that it isn’t just the area which makes an experience ‘al fresco’, but the food, as well. Silures o ers a menu that changes with the seasons, thanks to Executive Head Chef, Byron Moussouris. Silures serves local ingredients from its al fresco menu, such as Atlantic Edge Pembrokeshire oysters, Dorset crab & seatrout on toast, Welsh cheese board and Montgomery Welsh sparkling wine. Chef Moussouris brings vast culinary knowledge to Cardi , having spent ve years at the luxurious hotel e Bloomsbury and four years at e Marylebone as Head Chef prior.
Whether eating al fresco or indoors, guests of Silures can expect all-day Brunch on Saturdays and signature Sunday Roasts. Much like the name, which pays tribute to the rich Southeastern Welsh history, Silures also showcases a signature cocktail menu, e Seven Wonders, which features Welsh-inspired cocktails.

LiftingtheLid on School Lunch Boxes
School dinners have had a radical overhaul thanks to the efforts of Jamie Oliver; but what about the lunchboxes we pack for our children?
A study by the School Food Trust revealed that over 40% of packed lunches don’t contain a single piece of fruit or vegetable that could count towards children’s five-aday.
It’s just as important to make sure the lunches children take to school provide a healthy, balanced meal - and that means plenty of
foods that contain the nutrients children need, and fewer that are high in sugar and saturated fat. Starchy foods are a good source of energy and should make up a third of the lunchbox. But don’t let things get boring. Instead of sandwiches give kids bagels, pitta bread, wraps and baguettes. Use brown, wholemeal, or seeded bread, not white bread. Children often like food they can eat with their fingers, so chop up raw veggies such as carrots or peppers, and give them humous or cottage cheese to dip the veggies in.
Breadsticks and wholemeal crackers are great finger
foods and they can be spread with lowfat soft cheese or eaten with reducedfat cheddar and pickles. Replace chocolate bars and cakes with fresh fruit, dried fruit, or unsalted nuts.
Vary the fruit each day and get them to try new things, like kiwi or melon.
You could also make up a tasty fruit salad. Be inventive and encourage your children when they try something new. A balanced packed lunch should contain:
> Protein foodsmeat, fish, eggs, beans, and others.
> A dairy itemcheese or yoghurt.
> Vegetables or salad, and a portion of fruit. It may take a while for your children to get used to a healthier lunchbox, but it will be worth it for their health, so keep trying. You can help by eating a wider range of foods at home, as a family. Reading supermarket food labels can help you to buy healthier foods.
> Starchy foods
-bread, rice, potatoes and pasta, and others.
Chocolate and cakes can be saved for occasional treats - praise is a better reward for your child when they have tried something new.

A WOMAN whose chronic pain was making life unbearable has a new lease on life after discovering a unique therapy.
Louise Downey was a chronic sufferer of Trigeminal Neuralgia/Cluster Headaches – a condition which caused her severe nerve and muscle pain that got “progressively worse” with her struggling with it for a decade.
It impacted her work, at Cardiff and Vale College, along with her quality of life and she found that nothing she tried to relieve her symptoms helped.
“My brother Paul lives in Malaysia and had heard about Master Chia Electromagnetic Acupuncture (Without Needles) Therapy,” said Ms Downey.
“I was reluctant and sceptical at first, with having tried all other treatments and medicines prescribed by Doctors and Neurologist, with little relief, along with the 16-hour flight.”
But her brother and family “persuaded” her until she decided that she had “nothing to lose” and flew to Malaysia where she received 15 days of treatment.
Following the fourth day of treatment she slept for an entire night – something her pain had not previously allowed. By the seventh day her zapping pains had disappeared and by day 11 the pressure in her head lifted.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done,” said the former sceptic.
“The treatment is amazing and, as I was pain free, I went into panic mode thinking that I was going to have to travel back and forth to Malaysia for treatment.”
Advertorial Feature
She wanted to bring a machine back to Wales but was told that she would need the full training.
“I’m part of Trigeminal Neuralgia Association UK and had people following my story,” said Ms Downey.
“I updated them and said I was pain free and I learned that others wanted the treatment, but I wasn’t insured.”
Ms Downey decided to go for it – she left Cardiff and Vale College (where staff were “really supportive”) after 13 years and is now trained, qualified, and insured, along with being a member of the Complimentary Medical Association.
Nerve Connect offers a six in one treatment – which includes:
Electromagnetic Therapy
Acupuncture (Without Needles)
Cupping
Muscle Imbalance
Deep Tissue Massage
This helps the body to Heal itself by Blocked Qi points are reopened
Cell regeneration
Releasing toxins
Injured Nerves are helped to heal.
Blood circulation around injured areas is increased, healing injuries, and reducing inflammation.
The “natural and non-invasive” treatment focuses on the whole body “because everything is connected” and sessions are 30 – 45 minutes long.
“I can relate to people facing long term and severe pain and understand the sense of frustration and helplessness often felt. I also understand the scepticism with alternative medicine so offer a free consultation and trial of the treatment,” said Ms Downey.
Ms Downey opened her own business, Nerve Connect on Minehead Avenue in Penarth, about a month before Covid hit [in March 2020].
This forced her to shut the venture temporarily, but it has since reopened with Ms Downey recently returning from another trip to Malaysia to meet up with Master Chia and other Therapists to share experiences and new treatments and continue her training.
“Starting a business wasn’t my intention at first; I did the training and bought the machine to treat myself,” admitted Ms Downey.
“It wasn’t planned but I absolutely love it, that I’m helping so many people, some who have been in pain for so long, with a variety of ailments – I’m helping people from all over the UK.”
“For this particular type of treatment Nerve Connect is the only place in the UK and Europe currently offering it.”
“Nothing is 100 per cent guaranteed to work – it depends on the damage and how your body reacts to the treatment.
The treatment is particularly good for a variety of ailments and injuries causing muscle pain, nerve pain, inflammation, arthritis, posture, and helping the body heal.
“It feels different for everyone: most say it’s like pins and needles in the body, while some even compare it to an extremely strong tens machine.”

HONEY IS SNOWDONIA’S BEST KEPT SECRET WITH RUGGED CONDITIONS & SUPER DETERMINED BEES KEY TO ITS UNIQUE TASTE AND QUALITY
Already well-known for producing premium quality grass-fed beef and lamb, cheese, and other regional foods, the Snowdonia National Park (Eryri) and North Wales are now making their mark on the honey (mêl) industry.
According to Snowdonia honey pioneer, Alun Allcock, the diverse flora and fauna of Snowdonia, coupled with the fact that the bees have to be tough to cope with the often-wild conditions, has resulted in honey with a sought after and distinctive flavour, aroma, and colour. This is attracting a growing following of discerning British food lovers.
Alun has gradually added to his hives to keep up with demand. Starting with just two, The Snowdonia Honey Co. now has around 100 hives dotted throughout the Snowdonia countryside, equating to 6 million or so bees at the height of summer.
The most popular honeys include Welsh Wildflower Honey, which varies depending on the changing

seasons and locations of the wildflowers, which can include bramble, gorse, blackthorn, clover, and dandelion, as well as other mountain fauna. The honey is a light amber colour, with a smooth texture, and delicate wildflower aroma. The taste is mild and sweet, featuring subtle floral notes and a gentle, lingering aftertaste of liquorice on the palate.
There is also Snowdonia Ling Heather Honey, which is only available for a very short time in September and comes from the Welsh Ling Heather that turns the slopes of Snowdonia a magnificent purple in July and August. It is a smooth, dark, and rich honey that has a sweet yet earthy taste.
“We’re proud to have produced a honey that is gaining recognition both in Wales and throughout the UK,” says Alun. “It started as a side project when I moved our family to a small farm in Snowdonia four years ago and realised that it would be the perfect spot for some hives, with the flower-covered mountainsides and meadows of the national park so close by.
“When I tried the first batch of honey from those original bees, I knew we had found something special. Snowdonia can be a harsh environment, and the bees have to be extra tough to survive and thrive. That – coupled with the wonderful flowers and plants that
are native here, including our heather – has resulted in a unique, high-quality honey that reflects the region’s unspoiled wilderness. I’m delighted to see more and more people tasting and discovering it.”
Social responsibility and environmental sustainability is central to everything that The Snowdonia Honey Co. does. Alun helps to pass on and promote the environmental and positive contribution that bees and beekeeping make to the environment through his tutoring and mentoring work of new beekeepers through his work with The National Beekeeping Centre for Wales courses
The hives are also managed in a way that ensures the health and well-being of the bees, while also promoting sustainable honey production and protecting the environment. The Snowdonia Honey Co. practices coldextraction and filtration of their honey and only harvests honey when the bees have produced an excess. This means that the honey is free from any additives or contaminants and is as close to nature as possible.
Snowdonia Honey Co. products are stocked in a range of delis and grocers in the Snowdonia region and can also be purchased online from snowdoniahoney.com for free delivery anywhere in the UK.

As the only doctor-led aesthetics training provider for medics and non-medics alike, Calla Training has become a benchmark in the industry. DOCTOR-LED TRAINING ATTENTIVE TUITION UNRIVALLED EMPLOYABILITY
Introducing Calla Training
The UK’s Only Doctor Le Postgraduate Training Provider in Aesthetic Medicine for Both Medics & Non-Medics.
Enforcing Safety in the Aesthetics Industry by Providing Medical Education for All.
Introducing Calla Training - an exemplary training provider founded by GMC Registered Dr Ros believing in an industry without outsiders.
Calla Training is born out of a lack of regulation in the Aesthetics industry for non-medics to inject and carry out non-invasive aesthetic procedures. With a shortfall of legal standards around these treatments, it has left consumers at risk and undermined the industry’s ability to advance. Rather than fight the problem and work against non-medical professionals, Dr Ros wants to be a part of the solution and create a welcoming environment for non-professionals, graduating at the highest level.
Having worked tirelessly with world- leading medical and digital professionals to create a training programme unlike any other, offering education for both medics and nonmedics. Dr Ros believes in being ‘inclusive’, providing a transparent environment that governs what is going on in the aesthetics industry with non-medics, rather than alienating them. Her aim is to teach non-medics the knowledge they need to provide treatments safely, working with them to ensure that the client is the number one priority.
Dr Ros says:
I have been building this training company for a very long time and have been fortunate to work with world-leading medical, psychology, content and tech experts to build a training programme that is both unique, easy to memorise and precise to implement. I believe we should be supporting people in a professional field that is not equal and isn’t created safe for the end user - the patient. As Doctors, when a patient’s safety is put at risk, we have a duty of care to step in, support and educate to remove that risk. Let’s make sure safety is our main message and to do that, we need to teach them. This is something they want to do and are already doing, so let’s work with them to ensure this is a safer environment for everyone.
Calla Training offers state-of-the-art training and technology. Dr Ros has taken complex medical instructions and created easily digestible and memory-imprinted training and guidance. This training has been tested to ensure that is meets the stringent demands of medical authorities and equally makes sense for students of non-medical background.
Their pioneering Botulinum Toxin and Dermal filler Training Courses will set trainees up for a successful career in Aesthetic Medicine. The courses don’t just teach you medical precision on procedures, but they also show you how to start a clinic and grow a business. They offer both foundation training and advanced training for those that wish to refine their technique and create stand-out results.

5 OF THE MOST POPULAR DECORATING STYLES EXPLAINED
When you first start to decorate your house and you’re asking for tips from other people, one of the most popular tips that people will tell you is that you should determine what your decorating style is. After all, half of the home decoration process is nailing down your preferences, and the other half is the actual work.
It sounds so simple, but you might soon find yourself feeling confused and lost. What kind of decorating aesthetics are there? What are some of the interior design styles? And, most importantly, what are the most popular ones and what makes them different from each other?
Traditional
Naturally, the most common interior design style is the traditional one. The traditional design takes its inspiration from 18th and 19th century England and France. This is why this design style uses tables and chairs made from a dark wood that’s elaborately detailed. Additionally, it’s common for this design style to require upholstery and window treatments made from expensive textiles like silk, velvet, and linen. Because of all this, homes with traditional designs give off a glamorous vibe.
Modern
Modern interior design developed from the early to mid 20th century. It draws inspiration from Scandinavian
interior design, can be broken down into modern and mid-century modern, and is followed by postmodern design. A modern design entails a home with clean and crisp lines, a simple colour palette, and furniture and accessories that are made up of metal, glass, and steel. The modern design invokes a sense of simplicity, which is why people describe this style as “sleek.”
Contemporary
A lot of people make the mistake of interchanging modern with contemporary, but though the two words are usually considered synonyms, the two interior designs are actually different from each other. While modern design is rooted in the specific time period mentioned above, contemporary design evolves constantly and refers to the here and now. What’s the design trend that’s dominating right now? Whatever it is, that’s the contemporary design. This trend changes over time, thus making contemporary design an adaptable designing style.
Transitional
Transitional is oftentimes considered as the middle ground of design styles because it combines the elegance from traditional designs and the artistic lines and textiles from contemporary. Transitional also keeps accessories to a minimum — the focus is on the furniture and the textiles. Because of this, transitional design is best suited to those people
who think the traditional design is too stuffy and contemporary is too bright and free.
Minimalist
Inspired by Japanese interiors, the minimalist design focuses on the principle that less is more. In other words, this design requires uncomplicated forms, clean lines, and simple finishes. The minimalist design also uses a neutral colour scheme, though primary colours can be used as an accent colour. Patterns aren’t encouraged in minimalist design, while texture is a prerequisite. Storage is another essential element of this design style, so sometimes furniture serves as hidden storage as well. This design is perfect for those people who live in small residential places, such as flats.
In the eyes of a newbie decorator, it’s easy to get lost and confused about interior design. It’s such a broad topic, and it borrows principles from other fields of art, such as fine arts and architecture. And as if that’s not intimidating enough, there are the many styles to consider. But hopefully reading this has helped you get a better understanding of some of the most popular styles out there. Undeniably, there are a lot of other styles on top of these, but these are some of the most common. So, what are you waiting for? Pick a design style that suits your aesthetic preferences, learn more about it, and get to decorating.

Reality TV star and business woman Kim Kardashian says she still has “imposter syndrome”, despite the global success of her multi-million dollar shapewear brand Skims.
Kardashian, 42, revealed the brand, founded in 2019, has exceeded “everything that I ever imagined”.
Celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Michelle Obama have also shared the imposter syndrome obstacles they have faced.
So, why might you feel ‘imposter syndrome’ in spite of success, and what does it even mean?
What is imposter syndrome?
Imposter syndrome is “a feeling that we’re going to be found out, feeling like we are a fraud, that we aren’t as good as people think we are”, says psychologist and author of Self Care For Tough Times, Suzy Reading.
“It’s where we downplay our successes and where we doubt our ability moving forwards, even though we’ve demonstrated the same skills and strengths countless times in the past.”
What causes it?
“Quite often, it is caused by caring deeply and wanting to get it right,” Reading continues.
“It can be seen as part of us assessing our readiness, or preparation or skill, in delivering something important to us. It’s also a safeguard against becoming arrogant, conceited, boastful or underprepared. Other causes include personality traits like perfectionism, or being raised in a family
environment that focuses on high achievement above all else.”
What are the signs?
Kardashian is not alone.
“Even the most talented, accomplished, experienced, educated, successful people have this experience,” says Reading.
“It is very common. We can all relate to the feeling and it can manifest in different ways, including self-doubt, insecurity, fear of making mistakes, fear of failure, self-criticism, negative selftalk, an inability to accept praise or compliments, undervaluing your own contributions, or attributing accomplishments to external variables. It can lead to self-sabotage, and eventually burnout.”
How can you get rid of it?
Here’s the good news – we don’t need to eradicate it,” Reading explains.
“Make peace with that voice of self-doubt, allow it to be there, and understand
that it is a reflection of how much you care – and not your ability.
“Remember your thoughts are not facts and we don’t have to invest our identity in them. Don’t try to silence the voice of the inner critic, but also, don’t amplify it. Let it speak, but then pass the mic to the voice that cheers you on, encourages you – the compassionate voice we can all cultivate,” she adds.
“I would also recommend looking for evidence contrary to the voice of your imposter – challenge it, dispute it, remind yourself of your strengths, your values, your accomplishments and all the work you’ve done to reach this point in your life.
“Get your body involved too – it’s not just about using your mind – stand tall because our posture has an impact on our feelings of personal power, soothe your nervous system with calm, relaxed breathing, releasing physical tension, and remember: you are capable, you are resourceful”.

Bee the Change Summer Activities Launched at St David’s Cardiff
St David’s Cardiff has unveiled a new installation to kickstart a summer of fun, crafty bee-saving events designed to educate, engage and inspire guests during August.
The new ‘Bee the Change’ campaign has been launched with the installation of a bumblebeethemed display adorning one of the city shopping centre’s malls. A specialist team was brought in after hours to intricately build the aerial display within The Hayes Arcade, which features more than 6,000 silk flowers and foliage stems and 200 giant bees flying through a honeycomb-inspired design.
A new floral decorated arch, which boasts 1,000 colourful flowers, has also been built to overlook the display from the upper level of the Grand Arcade within St David’s with guests invited to pose for pictures and selfies to help spread the word about saving bees.
Bee the Change was chosen as the message for St David’s Cardiff’s summer campaign to help raise awareness of the decline of bees which are vital for the pollination of global food crops. The centre has several of its own beehives onsite which produce honey and has implemented a number of eco-friendly initiatives including becoming a zero-waste-to-landfill site in 2012 and using 100% of its electricity from renewable sources.
Across the summer, St David’s will host a series of fun, eco-craft events to educate, engage and inspire guests to make a simple change to support local biodiversity and help the plight of bees. This includes plant pot painting and wildflower seed planting, bug hotel building,
and bee-feeder making. The free workshops will take place across every weekend during August in the lower level of the Grand Arcade, next to MenKind, and will give guests the opportunity to make a difference by taking a #beethechange pledge.
Helen Morgan, Centre Director at St David’s Dewi Sant, commented: “Bees are relied upon to effectively pollinate crops, providing all of us with the food we eat every day. However, bee numbers are in huge decline which poses a serious threat to food production as well as their future preservation.
“At St David’s, we’ve already planted wildflowers on our roof to attract bees as well as being home to thousands of bees in our rooftop hives. Through our Bee the Change campaign this summer, we hope we can spread the message even further whether through our eye-catching decorative displays, our free hands-on eco workshops or by asking guests to make a bee-saving pledge.”
The centre is also hosting a photo competition to celebrate a summer of Bee-ing the Change; guests are invited to snap a selfie in front of the stunning floral arch located between River Island and Victoria’s Secret and share it on Facebook or Instagram for the chance to win a £500 St David’s gift card. For full entry details, visit the St David’s website.

Chanel No 5: A cult product since Marilyn Monroe claimed it was all she wore in bed, the bottle has been illustrated by Andy Warhol, advertised by Nicole Kidman and worn for generations.

Some beauty products have been around for years and are still as popular as ever. Here, we take a look at some of the most iconic beauty buys.
While fashions come and go and times change, there are certain items that every woman has, at some point or another, had in her beauty bag.
Chanel Rouge Noir: Ever since Uma urman waved Rouge Noir-ed nails across the screen in Pulp Fiction this polish, the colour of dried blood, has been iconic. No other colour has lasted in minds and hearts so completely.
YSL Touche Eclat: Finding it’s way in to every make up bag, the pricey Touche Eclat is worth every penny, banishing signs of tiredness and re ecting the light, making lips fuller and skin glow.
Bene t Benetint: Believe it or not Benetint was rst designed for an exotic dancer to keep her nipples pink. Now a favourite of make up artists the long lasting formula and natural colour has become cult.
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara : It seems not to matter what other cosmetics brands do, no mascara comes close to Great Lash for popularity. In garish packaging and featuring an old fashioned brush it’s nonetheless a must for beauty on a budget.
Lancome Juicy Tubes: With the dawn of the gloss age the colourful Lancome Juicy Tubes appealed to our inner girl. ere are few better formulas; no wonder 11 tubes are sold every minute.

An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but not necessarily the dentist.
Did you know that some of the healthier foods you consume can also be disastrous for your gnashers? Yes, that’s right, that apple a day might not always be good for you. Healthy foods can cause erosion to teeth too as it turns out. But there are a few simple ways to avoid it.
“Most of us know that chocolate is bad for teeth, due to sugarrelated tooth decay. However, acid erosion is one of the biggest threats to tooth enamel this century and, as the research shows, people are far less aware of how they can best protect teeth from this condition.”
said Nutritionist Anita Bean, an expert in acid erosion.
So, acid erosion is the issue at hand here. But what on earth is it and is it as bad as it sounds? Acid erosion occurs when acid from certain foods and drinks comes into contact with teeth, temporarily so ening the
tooth’s hard enamel surface. When we then brush our teeth, the enamel can be worn away more easily and
become thinner over time. It is indeed as bad as it sounds and it can happen to your teeth if you partake in too many acidic foods.
Research shows that most of us are, in fact, at risk of developing acid erosion due to our dietary habits. Acid erosion in teeth is mainly caused by acids found in common food and drinks. e majority of people are aware that zzy drinks could cause damage, but many can be unaware that other drinks usually thought of as healthier options could also cause harm. You may be forgiven for not knowing that, for example, fruit can pose a risk to your teeth, as well as the vinaigrettes o en used as salad dressings.
And there’s more bad news. Apparently, it’s not just what we eat and drink that can cause problems, but how we eat and drink too. Consuming acidic drinks without a straw, regularly covering food with sauces and
dressings, such as acidic balsamic vinegar, are also bad. But before you panic and start to wonder what on earth is safe to eat and drink then, there are a few simple habits you can adopt that means you won’t have to give up your healthy ve-a-day just yet:
When having an acidic drink, use a straw angled towards the back of the mouth to help keep your teeth protected.
-Drink water a er eating or drinking anything acidic, this will help to wash the acid away or chew gum to stimulate the production of saliva, which can neutralise the acid.
-A er an acidic meal, consider eating some enamel-friendly foods such as low-fat cheese or nuts, as this will help to restore the pH balance in your mouth. -A er consuming acidic food or drinks, wait at least an hour before brushing your teeth. is hour is when enamel is at its so est and so most at risk.
-And nally – visit your dentist regularly, because, in the end, only a dental professional can properly diagnose acid erosion.

COMMON WEDDING QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Most of us have been to at least one wedding before, but planning our own can be differ ent. As a guest, you can just show up, and even if you’ve agreed to help out in some way, your duties will be minimal. When it’s your own wedding, you might be unsure where to start. Here a few common questions (and answers) to help you.
Do I need a wedding planner?
Of course, it’s possible to get married without a wedding planner. If you have a limited budget, hiring a wedding planner is going to cut into that, leaving much less to spend on the wedding itself. However, if you choose not to hire one, you give yourself more work to do. You can get around this by making a list of what you want, trying to keep it as simple as possible and asking friends and family who you trust to help you.
Where should I get married?
e choice is yours. While a church might be the most obvious option, you can get married anywhere which o er weddings and even get permission to marry at some of the most stunning outdoor locations. So long as you look into getting the right permission and ensure the wedding is legally binding beforehand, the only limit is your budget.
How much food and drink should I serve everyone?
Some weddings seem to go on all day. If the ceremony is performed in the morning, the couple and their guests might hold an a ernoon gathering with a bu et and light refreshments, before the big evening celebration begins. is means feeding people twice. However, if you only have a limited budget, you can get around this by having an a ernoon ceremony, followed by the evening celebration, and only have to feed people once. Although a free bar might sound nice, there are always people who don’t know when to stop. e better suggestion is to serve everyone a drink when they arrive at the evening celebration, and/or with their meal, but leave them to buy their own drinks from the bar.
What information do I put on the invitation?
e obvious details are the date, location and time. Although, if you have a dress code or theme, you could also include that too. Even if you’ve already told people in person, it’s a good idea to let them see it on the invitation too. You should also mention if the invitation is only for the person named, or if they can bring someone. is allows you to limit how many people you have to provide catering for and prevents guests from bringing strangers to your wedding if you prefer to stick to close family and friends. When you send the invitation, also include an RSVP card, so people can let you known if they plan to attend. You might want to include a tick box for any dietary requirement, so you can plan accordingly.
If you’re not sure, always ask!
ese are just some of the questions you may have regarding planning for the big day. So, if you’re still unsure about anything, remember that married friends or family may be pleased to pass on their knowledge if you ask for their help.

KILLER HEELS
ere are very few high-heel lovers who haven’t uttered the words “my feet are killing me” at the end of a night on the tiles. So how can we achieve the look, still wear our dream shoes, and avoid walking home in stocking feet? We’ve all experienced the discomfort and burning sensation associated with wearing party shoes. But despite the pain, we still persevere.
Gloria Dunlop, lecturer in podiatry at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh
Tips To Keep Your Feet Tip Top
So, how can we keep dancing into the wee small hours and still avoid falling o our platform shoes and spraining our ankles? Dunlop has some top tips for keeping our toes in good shape.
1.Don’t wear the same shoes repeatedly Have a selection of shoes of di erent shapes, di erent heel heights and de nitely a pair of trainers in your wardrobe. 2. Cheap shoes don’t necessarily mean bad shoes ere is nothing wrong with wearing a less expensive shoe. Expensive shoes are not a guarantee of problem-free feet.
3.Change your shoes daily Sometimes we wear shoes that cramp our toes because they’re too tight. Continually wearing high heels can result in painful leg muscles. Changing your shoes daily will prevent a foot or leg problem occurring.
4.Avoid wearing sling backs on a regular basis Repeatedly wearing sling backs can quickly lead to the development of a large hard bump at the back of the heel,
commonly known as a Haglund’s bump. is is irreversible, so avoid at all costs. It becomes very di cult to wear any closed-in shoe once you have developed a Haglund’s bump.
5.Wear padding on the balls of your feet if partying in high heels Use foot felts and foams. Foot specialist Scholl provides a range, including ball-of-foot cushions and pressure-point foam padding that can be bought in most supermarkets and chemists. ese products have an adhesive backing that sticks to your feet, avoiding slippage and therefore blisters.
6.Never burst a blister Not unless you want sore feet for days. Blisters are created by rubbing, so avoid shoes that rub.
7.Never wear brand new shoes for a long period of time Initially wear your new shoes around the house or in short bursts. Don’t wear brand new shoes on your party night or you will su er.
8.Avoid sprains and strains Sprains, strains, and muscle soreness can happen to anyone, but are more likely if you are walking on an uneven surface or a very high narrow heel. Avoid cobbled streets and best get a taxi home a er the party.
9.Use ice on painful sprains and strains Ice does work - it reduces swelling. If you su er a sprain or strain, use ice as soon as possible or within the rst four hours. A er that, use heat to reduce bruising, swelling and pain. Next time you decide to party on a weeknight and have to haul yourself into the o ce the next morning, follow Gloria’s advice and you’ll glide elegantly into work ready to face another day’s hard slog - no crutches necessary.

David Beckham designs new car collection with Maserati
The former English professional football player, who announced his partnership with the luxury Italian car company in April 2021, has now curated the first edition of Fuoriserie DB Essentials collection.
The 48-year-old said cars were “a big part of his childhood” and family holidays.
Inspired by his love of the classic Trident brand and traditional bespoke men’s tailoring, Beckham re-imagined two classic models.
“It was a big part of my family vacations. I remember that we always used to drive where we went with my sister, that’s why cars are a big part of my childhood,” he said in an interview with French magazine L’Officiel.
“I am really interested in cars, like my dad, he used to love cars and he always talked to me about them. But then when I looked forward to buying my own car that’s really when it changed to me.”
The dad-of-four’s first choice for the new collection was the 1967 Maserati Ghibli coupe, where he matched a tan leather interior with a ‘night interaction’ blue colour for the exterior.
He then selected the 1986 Maserati Quattroporte Royale, where he went for a ‘verde royale’ (dark green) exterior, paired with a brown leather upholstery inside.
From Manchester United and England star to all-round national treasure, global charity and brand ambassador and fashion icon, Beckham
is known for his impeccable style. So why not design luxury cars next?
Last year The Sun estimated that Beckham could have spent £3 million on cars – reportedly more than 30 cars and motorbikes over the years.
It’s a long way from his first car – a turquoise 1994 Volkswagen Golf –that he sold in 2015 to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Famously, the first supercar he owned was a Porshe 911 Carrera that he bought in 1997 after he hit the big time at Manchester United.
He and Victoria were often pictured in it together in the early days of their relationship. It was later auctioned off for £171, 400.
Over the years he’s been known to own Jaguars, Ferraris, Range Rovers and a Lamborghini. But his new collection will be seriously exclusive – with only 51 cars made of the Quattroporte Royal.
“Fuoriserie means ‘custom-built’ in Italian,” said Klaus Busse, head of design of Maserati, and the brand’s luxury clients can “express their personality and passion by creating their very own Maserati”.
Both of Beckham’s designs will only be available on the MC20 super sports car and the new SUV Grecale, which is equipped with 4-cylinder hybrid powertrains – moving the brand closer to its 2025 goal of running on electricity alone.

I trained as a mechanic in a small independent garage in my teens. Toyota Aberdare has been my rst experience of a larger Franchised Dealership and I’ve recently been promoted to Workshop Foreman. In the beginning I was quite daunted by the thought of committing to the level of study required to sit the Toyota exams but I was encouraged to persevere at a pace that suited me. It has been challenging to t around family and day to day work commitments but I’m pleased that I stuck with it and have completed the quali cations. Vehicle mechanics is changing, we all need to keep pace.

Since Michele became the chief in design, Gucci’s menswear has moved towards a more androgynous style. This trend was debuted in February 2015, with Michele’s vision of Gucci reinvented through the lens of the feminine man. With red pussy bow silk shirts, ruffled sleeves, maroon berets and loafers, the Gucci Fall show of 2015 marked the rejuvenation of Gucci menswear as we had previously known it.
Geek Chic hit the runway in 2017, with Michele designing oversized glasses, embellished blazers and more pussy bow shirts. Previous creative director Tom Ford had made Gucci renowned for hyper-sexualised clothing, from deep v-neck shirts to underwear briefs being modelled at his exit show. The vast contrast between the two
styles posed the question: what makes men’s clothing sexy?
Michele would argue that showing femininity makes men more masculine, while Tom Ford has been quoted that he is an “equal objectifier”, in which he is as happy to objectify men as he is objectifying women. It is clear that while sex sells, Alessandro Michele’s clothing is appealing to a wider audience of several sexual orientations, all the while challenging gender stereotypes.
Since his appointment, Gucci has developed a cult following among celebrities known for their quirky styles. Two pop stars who often have Gucci items custom made for their public appearances are none other than Harry Styles and Billie Eilish. While Eilish’s signature style is oversized, baggy clothing often covered in the Gucci logo, Styles’s is much more of an androgynous aesthetic. In 2018, Styles featured in Gucci’s Men’s Tailoring campaign video. He can be seen visiting a local fish and chips shop, dressed shirtless in a pinstripe suit with a blue check blazer layering the outfit. This look is accompanied by a necklace and several rings, along with a live chicken as a prop.
Since then, Styles has taken a more daring approach to his aesthetic. In 2019 at the iconic Met Gala which was themed Camp, Styles wore a sheer black blouse completed with a pussy bow, accompanied by black tailored trousers, a drop pearl earring and a fresh manicure, with heeled leather Gucci shoes finishing off the look. Actor Jared Leto also boasted a more androgynous style, wearing a custom red silk gown, and accessorised with a jewel body chain, along with a bust replica of his own head.
Gucci’s Fall 2020 menswear collection was blossoming with many of Michele’s signature looks: dresses, extravagant androgynous tailored suits and of course, layers upon layers of block coloured items. With more men wearing gender bending clothes, and women often purchasing from Gucci’s menswear, it is clear that feminine and androgynous style for men is one that has taken the world by storm, and as far as the celebrity world is concerned, it is here to stay.

HOME STAGING FOR HOME SALES
Selling your home in the current market isn’t easy. We pass on some advice from a home-staging expert on making any property look its best, boosting your chance of a sale.
There’s no hiding from it; with the pandemic having an unprecedented economic impact, many people may soon be struggling to sell their homes.
The good news, though, is that even in the most difficult market, some people will be looking to buy. So, is there anything you can do to maximise your chances of selling your property? Yes there is, according to Tina Jesson, a property marketing expert and founder of property staging company Home Stagers. If you’re looking to sell your home then you may want to read her advice. She has come up with a four-point plan that may help home owners stand a chance of getting a sale in an increasingly competitive market.
If you’re not getting viewings, the chances are your price is too high. In today’s market we are consistently seeing property left unsold for six months or more and many home sellers need to seek advice from their agents about reducing the price. Prices are forecast to continue to fall and I’ve met far too many home owners who wish they had taken the offer they had three months ago.
If you want to attract serious offers you may need to consider dropping your price a little. If you haven’t yet made a reduction, and my advice is if you receive an offer within 10 per cent of the asking price, take it.

Presentation
If you’re getting viewings but no serious interest, it’s likely to be presentation letting the property down. Many home sellers clear the clutter and paint it neutral, but professional home staging is so much more than that Many homes look bland or ill-defined and properties in this market really need to stand out. Seeking the advice of home staging professionals can find the right balance in a property and discover tricks to adding perceived value. A small investment now could pay dividends in selling the property faster.
Promotion
Effectively promoting your property is essential and interior and exterior images must do the property justice. Home staging works to maximise the key selling points, define room function and create space. This can significantly improve photographic material, which will in turn refresh the description and ultimately increase the likelihood of a sale. Asking your agent to organise open house days can be an effective way to generate interest with potential buyers face to face.
Preparation
Last but not least, as with all undertakings, preparation is essential. If you’re showing an interested party around, talk to your agent to help you familiarise yourself with the key selling points that will increase the appeal of your property. Take time to choose which order of rooms will give the best impact overall and talk about the highlights, while preparing yourself with responses to any drawbacks to the property that you may be questioned upon.
