Delayed Link Road project ‘nearing completion’

As first reported in the July edition of Molton Monthly Magazine, contractors Griffiths claim the North Devon Link Road scheme is due to be largely completed by the end of September. Requests for up to date information in both July and August haven’t received a reply.

The £67 million project, designed to improve road safety between South Molton and Barnstaple, is nine months late and is on its third ‘completion deadline’. A Devon County Council report sent to the magazine on July 29th says the new West Buckland bridge junction is likely to be the last section to be finished. “Despite the unfavourable weather in the first half of 2024, the project has made good progress in all sections over recent months, with a number of key project milestones being met,” said a council spokesman.

The Northern Lights put on another fabulous display overnight on August 12th/13th, captured on camera by a few lucky night owls. This time the aurora borealis coincided with the Perseid meteor shower, as can be seen at the top of this picture, as a meteor streaks across the dramatic night sky at Kings Nympton.
