Here come the girls!
If you’d like to play, you can contact the rugby club through their website or Facebook page or email Elvet ‘Taff’ Williams: elvet2@btinternet.com
The spotlight is shining on women’s rugby, with England’s Red Roses stunning performances in the autumn international matches being shown live on BBC2, prompting an appeal for local girls to join the successful South Molton Rugby Club Panthers teams (pictured above). As we reported last month, former South Molton player Emma Sing was selected as part of the national squad for the prestigious matches. “The coaching staff are tremendous, caring and kind, but also intelligent in coaching and training,” said team member Ashleigh Rollins from Bishops Nympton. “They listen when needed, and help the girls to become the best they can be.” “Many of the girls say they find great joy in playing rugby here, giving them opportunity to meet new people. Rugby training boosts mental and physical health, so if you’re looking for some general fitness, or if you’re looking to boost your skills, South Molton Rugby Club is the place for you!” The club has three age groups in the junior girls section U13s, U15s and U18s. Players of all abilities are accepted, whether you’ve never picked up a ball or if you already play. Please mention Molton Monthly when contacting advertisers
