Pupils from the two Sixth Form Schools, QE College and the Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s, celebrated another year with a 100% pass rate for all Year 13 pupils, studying both A-Levels and BTECs, as well as fantastic grades and results. Last year QE College was ranked 7th in the independent boarding schools’ league table,

QE Principal, Steven Jandrell, was delighted with the news for both schools: “Once more it has been another highly successful year, with excellent A-Level and BTEC results. Our pupils and teaching teams have worked hard to produce brilliant grades and they should all be very proud of what they have achieved.”

Yorkshire youngsters jumped for joy on results day at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate near York. drawn up by the Sunday Times. It is the top school in the North of England and its impressive results this year should guarantee a high ranking again. The College has seen another outstanding year with its A-Level results. 81% of grades at A-Level were A*-A and 98% were A*-B. The Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s, which offers students the opportunity to do more vocational subjects at BTEC, celebrated some of its best results ever. 81% of grades at A-Level were A*-A (up from last year’s 76%) and 97% of grades were A*-B (up from last year’s 90%). The Faculty’s 88% Distinction*-Distinction pass rate at BTEC (equating in UCAS points to an A/A* grade at A-Level) shows equal strength in these qualifications.

“These results will again confirm our place as one of the top schools in the independent sector in the country, but it is also very satisfying personally to know that our ethos to work with every student individually, finding subjects from our wide range which they enjoy and can excel at, really achieves such fantastic outcomes.” “It is another great results’ day and we are extremely pleased for our students, not just because of their grades but because they will now go on to study at some of the most prestigious universities in the world,” added the Head of QE College, Dan Machin. Faculty Head, Kevin Oldershaw, agreed: “We are particularly pleased with the grades that our students achieved at A-Level, as

well as our BTEC results. I am delighted to see so many of our pupils gain their places at some of the best universities, places that were studiously worked for and are now richly deserved.” 18-year-old Ben Steward from Selby is delighted to have been offered a place to study History at Oxford University. “It’s meant a great deal of hard work and determination from me but a matching commitment from my teachers at QE. I am really pleased with this opportunity.” 18-year-old Mary Fesenko will head to Oxford University in the autumn to study Biology. Mary, a student at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate near York, gained A* in English, A* in Russian, A* in Chemistry and A in Biology and was delighted by her achievements. “I logged onto the UCAS website to see whether I had been offered a place or not and when I saw that I had been assigned Magdalen College I was pretty speechless,” she said. “I know it sounds like a cliché, but this really is an amazing opportunity and if I can survive the rigours of three years of study at Oxford, I think I can get through anything.” Mary has high ambitions with her further studies. She hopes to work in the area of public engagement and science, or as a scientific advisor to the government or even work in scientific research exploring the use of stem cells. “My time at Queen Ethelburga’s has been fantastic and has really helped prepare me for life at Oxford. I have had a brilliant opportunity getting to know lots of people from different backgrounds and different cultures and won’t forget my time here.” Mary’s fellow students at the two Sixth Form Schools, QE College and the Faculty of Queen Ethelburga’s, were also celebrating an excellent set of A-Level and BTEC results. The schools welcomed another year with a 100% pass rate for all Year 13 pupils, studying both A-Levels and BTECs.

The lights are out and we’re off as we bring you the #MODEdrives issue.

On the cover: Bentley Mulsanne

#MODEdrives Editor: Adam McCartney Welcome to my favourite issue of the year, where we talk almost exclusively about motors. It’s been a great year all round at MODE but especially for me and the cars I’ve had the privilege of driving. For this special issue I’ve had a look back at the vehicles I’ve had on road test and made a selection of the best; after all I’ve travelled over 10,000 miles in £2.3 million pounds worth of some of the finest luxury cars available. Be sure to turn to my review of the Bentley Mulsanne Speed, on test this month along with Luxury Launches for the latest news on what’s landing in the garages right about now. There’s always a limit to how much I can say on the pages of the magazine which is why we’ve been developing the online magazine to bring you even more of the features you told us you’d most like to read. So for more reviews, launches and more #MODEdrives digital content, hop online. Before you go, if you’ve anything motoring related you think I’d want to write about, please share by emailing adam@mode.mg Enjoy.

Not for the faint hearted as we race around ‘Fitness’ corner and fly through ‘Style’ hairpin and past ‘Interiors’ into the ‘Motors’ straight. Yes, we have a motoring thread running through this whole issue but we have not forgotten about the things you tell us you simply can’t do without, they’ve just been given a motors makeover. But of course if you’ve picked this up because it has one of the most desirable cars available today flaunted beautifully across the cover, you’ll be happy to hear that indeed you will find the Bentley Musanne Speed road test. One of our highlights of the summer could be yours to keep for a mere £300,000 -but oh how she’s worth it. We’ve racked up over 10,000 miles this year in over £2.3 million in luxury cars, so we thought it only right and not entirely on a selfish note we may add, to bring back the best of our drives in one fell feature for a second look. If luxury really is your thing, then get your deposits at the ready as you turn to what’s launching right now. We had a sneak preview of the brand new Vūhl 05 - an innovative new lightweight supercar for road and track. We think you’ll be impressed, but with some all-time greats bringing it to the table at the same time, it’s going to be a tough choice.

For those that really do have petrol running right through their veins, it continues with the MODE Truck Off as we put some of the finest utility vehicles to the test. Some could say extreme, but turning your old car into a bespoke piece of furniture really does appeal to us, designer Ronan Tinman feels the same way. We take five to ask why. If traditional is however more your thing, our featured designer this issue is the award winning Martyn Lawrence Bullard. Style this issue pays homage to perhaps one of the most stylish sporting events there is, Formula One. Whether you’re travelling to the race in Italy or the following event in Singapore, take a look at our wardrobe picks for The Paddock. Post party working out is also covered –Formula Fitness gives us an insight on what the drivers put themselves through to stay race fit.. got to be some tips there then. On top of all that there’s plenty of food, drink and entertainment, so please, don’t let me keep you any longer... on the green light.. go

Unless of course no choice is required and we have just the solution with Perfect Parking –a look at THE most stylish ways to store your car collection. So why not!

Shelby is back Back in 1964, the Cobra was all dominant – except at such high-speed European circuits as Le Mans. Carroll Shelby duly tasked designer Peter Brock with penning a sleeker body and the resulting Cobra Daytona Coupes beat Ferrari to the 1965 FIA Sports Car Championship. Only six cars were made and unsurprisingly, these Shelby masterpieces very rarely come to market and, when they do, they fetch a fortune – the last one to sell fetched a cool $7.25million. A genuine derivative is, however, available brand new from just £99,800 plus VAT. Read the full story at www.MODEforluxury.co.uk

SATIN SETS FOR SILKY NIGHTS... Raphaella Riboud George & Arthur Satin-Silk Pyjama Set from £135 raphaellariboud.com We spend a lot of our life sleeping, almost a third of it actually, so it makes perfect sense to us that we should dress up for it. Raphaella Riboud’s ‘Arthur’ pyjama shorts and ‘George’ shirt, with their classic menswear inspired silhouettes are crafted from baby-pink silk-satin with a black and white trim and are the epitome. HEALTH & FITNESS

Formula Fitness It might surprise you to know that Formula One drivers are some of the most highly conditioned athletes on earth, with bodies specifically adapted to the very exacting requirements of top-flight single-seater motor racing. Whilst not all of us are top performing drivers, there’s no harm in taking a little inspiration from them when it comes to getting in shape ourselves. - Written by Rew Landells

Cardio

Flexibility

F1 drivers work out a lot, (Jenson Button is known to train for an average of 10 hours a week) with a programme that’s heavy on cardio as they go into a season, to keep them in peak physical condition, light in weight and less susceptible to fatigueinduced lapse of concentration.

You don’t need to have sat in the driver’s seat to know it’s tiny. There’s very little space to move and with so much pressure being exerted through your arms and upper body it’s important that you keep joints supple and loose between races. Driver or not, body alignment, stretching and prehabilitation (injury prevention) are all things you should take seriously to make sure your body is always in the best possible shape.

Try a programme that incorporates running, cycling or swimming, or go for all three by signing up for a triathalon. Make use of a heart rate monitor, speedometer and other gadgetry to keep an eye on your output and analyse your performance. If you’re really serous video analysis is great for monitoring technique.

Try incorporating weekly yoga or pilates sessions into your regular training plan to help enhance the results you get from your other workouts and prevent injury. Bikram Yoga (hot yoga) is performed in a heated studio with high humidity much like those environments experiences by F1 drivers when they’re racing in Hawaii or Japan. A class will not only challenge you physically but will give you an idea of what it can be like performing in such extreme conditions.

Strength Training In the cockpit you’re body is subject to extreme pressure and therefore strength training is important. However as weight is such an important factor drivers are mindful of not building too much muscle. Whilst the force experienced in F1 racing is hard to replicate using standard gym equipment, performing a general conditioning and strength circuit that focuses on your upper body, back and core will get you similar results to those achieved by F1 drivers who use specially designed rigs that mimic the force experienced in the car so that they can condition specific muscles. Classic exercises such as press ups, pull ups, lateral arm extensions and core work including the plank and oblique crunches are all solid examples of exercises to try.

Health News & Views The amount by which you can cut your spinning workout if you sprint rather than pedal at a steady pace. Those who did 20 minutes of eight-second sprints with 12 seconds’ low-intensity lost more belly fat after 15 weeks than those who did a 40 minute session at a steady pace. So we get to spend half the time working out but we lost more fat?? Sign us up!

A Sweet Goodbye

Source: International Journal of Obesity

If you can’t kick your sugar habit then be prepared to say goodbye to those sleek muscles you’ve been cultivating. A new research study has found that increased sucrose in diets leads to a loss of lean body mass. Over a five month period a number of subjects were fed a low sugar diet, while others feasted on sucrose. The muscle mass of all subjects was then analysed. The ones who had skipped the sugar had 11% more muscle mass than those who had chowed the sweet stuff. Source: journal of Nutrition

Chi running... Is a form of running that incorporates some principles of tai chi, a martial art that uses slow, dance-like, low impact movements. Developed by Danny Dryer, an ultra-marathoner and tai chi practitioner who wanted to improve his running technique and make it less stressful on the body. It focuses on core strength, posture and mindfulness; using core muscles to power movement; leaning forward slightly and keeping legs more relaxed; and landing midfoot instead of heel first (more like barefoot running).

Yoga for a better bladder We know that Pelvic floor exercises (Kegels) are good for controlling risk of urinary incontinence but now a study in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery has suggested that practicing certain yoga postures like the Mountain and Chair poses are among those that may help. Researchers at the University of California, developed a program to increase awareness and control of the pelvic floor muscles, which are involved in bladder control. Women who did two 90-minute sessions a week for six weeks had a 66 percent reduction in frequency of incontinence. Berkley University of California

Chew It Over Next time you’re ready to rage out take a minute or (15) to chew it over, literally. According to study by Northumbria University, working gum around your moth for 15 minutes lowers cortisol levels by 18%, enhances cognitive function and increases blood flow to your brain, all benefits which enable you to handle stress more effectively.

Blonde Ambition With great hair comes great responsibility. Not only are blondes burdened with having more fun, but also more to worry about when it comes to keeping their locks in tip top condition, enter Blonde Addict from Chill Cabinet. “Blonde hair needs special attention, so we've created Blonde Addict” said the lovely fold at Chill Cabinet, “[We’ve created] a specific range for natural or coloured blondes with exclusive violet pigments that neutralise yellow, brassy tones to reveal the true blonde beauty in you. This luxurious collection is the ultimate regime to care for blonde hair. Blonde tones are amplified and hair is left luxurious soft, smooth and full of health and shine.”

Smoke free: If you don’t want to compromise the results of your surgery then you’ll want to avoid smoking. Failure to do so can lead to infection, delayed healing and scars being pinker and more raised. Another in a long line of reasons not to light up...

Do your research: Make sure you’ve chosen the correct specialist (they should be accredited by BAAPS) for you desired surgery and that you’ve met with them at least two or three times before the procedure. Don’t overlook who your nurse will be too, after all, they’ll be the one caring for you post op. You can ask to meet the nurse when you have your consultation.

Nest: Before you head for the table make sure your home is recovery retreat ready. Scented candles, comfy throws and cushions and a tidy space all make for a relaxing environment. Prepping might even extend to ensuring you’ve sufficient childcare provisions in place, or scheduling any treatment for a time when someone can be around to offer support as well as choosing to have any surgery when things are quiet at work.

10 Days – The amount of time you should leave between your initial consultation and making any surgery decisions – this way you can make an informed choice. You’ll find most surgeons have a six to eight week waiting list anyway, giving you time to really think about it. Get in shape: Don’t laugh this one 21

GROOMING

Get Groomed Good looking news to keep you looking your best Sweet Smell of Success With half a century of experience in shoemaking, Oliver Sweeney has chosen to celebrate its silver anniversary in a most original way, adding a new (shoe)string to its bow and launching its first ever fragrance, aptly named Argento (the Italian speakers amongst our readers will note it is Italian for “Silver”). With its own workshops in Italy it might not come as a surprise that they have chosen an Italian name and influence for the fragrance, with warm notes reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea and woody scents that conjure up the image of the Italian foothills that house the shoemaker’s atelier. It’s a rich fragrance with an earthy base of smoky oud, rich cashmere and sandalwood, cut through with fresh notes of greener splashes of patchouli and moss - all poured into a straightforward clear glass bottle with a handsome, no-nonsense black screwon lid. Scent-sational. Argento - £95 for 100ml. Available to buy now in all of Oliver Sweeney’s London shops.

Watch this A tribute to the finest motor inspired watches available “A range of handmade Swiss watches from the only watchmaker ever trusted to build instruments for inclusion in a Bentley dashboard.” That’s a statement worth investigating. In 2002, Bentley launched the Continental GT, then the most powerful Bentley ever built. Breitling lent the revolutionary new luxury car an extra personal touch, by participating in the design of the technical instruments and, importantly, creating the on board clock. It was the first time that Bentley had entrusted this task to anyone other than its own craftsmen. The art of handmade British car making and the tradition of great Swiss watchmaking have much in common and so

Breitling for Bentley was born. The Bentley B05 Untime is a stunning example for those who love to travel. Featuring a world time chronograph powered by an innovative Manufacture Breitling movement with a patented mechanism. Thanks to its double-disc system this instruments easily enables reading at any given moment in time in all 24 time zones. Turning the crown forward or backward in one hour increments upon changing serves to correct all indications in one gesture with the date automatically adjusted to local time. Available in steel or red gold and fitted with a bracelet, rubber or crocodile leather strap.

The HUBLOT MP-05 "LaFerrari" is such an admirable thing, it demands a mention here despite it being announced at Baselworld 2013. "LaFerrari" was developed entirely in parallel with the car, alongside the Ferrari teams. They share a number of common points. Able to boast no fewer than 637 components for the movement, which is also equipped with a Tourbillon, as well as a power reserve of approximately 50 days thanks to its 11 barrels, arranged in a line just like a spinal column and interconnected so that they do not each discharge in turn but support each other. Besides its unique image, key features include a record 50 day power reserve,

Felipe Massa, the Brazilian Formula 1 driver is the first sporting figure to have joined the Richard Mille family of Swiss watchmakers. A long time test driver for the watches, it was he who has helped enable the brand to accomplish astonishing feats in watchmaking. The collaboration grew into a genuine friendship and is now celebrating its tenth anniversary. To mark the occasion an exclusive limited collection featuring the RM 056 and RM 011 models called the Felipe Massa 10th Anniversary are dedicated to the driver.

The watch is finely wrought in terms of shape, featuring a complex shaped sapphire crystal clearly reminiscent of the car's outline, as well as an open case-back, and is made from black PVD titanium. It is topped by a titanium and carbon insert in its centre, revealing the winding crown and rounded off by a rubber strap with a special folding buckle in black PVD titanium. casing is a finishing touch to these remarkable pieces.

The two watches feature the driver’s colours, automatic winding movement crafted in grade 5 titanium and are encased in NTPT Carbon, a material unique to Richard Mille which offers outstanding resistance. Massa’s signature engraved on the

FASHION ONE

Regulars on the podium Hamilton and Rosberg know as much about fashion as they do about motors so here’s how you can achieve a winning look off of the track, in the style of the first men of Formula 1

Nico Rosberg WHO: The good-looking blonde, affectionately known as Britney amongst his fellow drivers. Rosberg, the son of 1982 World Champion Keke, has made his mark both on the track and on the

red carpet, with campaigns for Mercedes and Hugo Boss. Young, talented and devilishly handsome, we love his simple, clean and sophisticated approach to red carpet dressing and his relaxed, fashion forward casual style.

WHO: The current champion on the track and bad boy of fashion. A risk taker on the road and the red carpet, Hamilton can be spotted front row at fashion week, and top of most best dressed lists but recently he made a fashion faux pas FORMAL: Hamilton is not afraid of wearing colour on the carpet and don’t we love it. For a modern take on formal wear take a leaf out of Lewis’s book and go for a bold velvet suit in jewel tones.

FORMAL: Channel his signature Black Tie look with a slim fitting suit and patent shoes, and don’t forget a chic pocket square to finish the outfit off. Huntsman Black Slim-Fit Wool and Mohair-Blend Tuxedo £2,750

Gucci Embossed Velvet Blazer £1,160

Turnabll & Asser Geometric Print Silk Twill Pocket Square £55

Rubinacci CrocEmbossed Leather Loafers £480

OFF DUTY: Never mind his handling skills it’s his layering that we’re loving. Layer a lightweight gillet under a blazer for a winter worthy look, or in the warmer months lose the gillet and pair your blazer with a dark shirt and suede shoes.

OFF DUTY: Some might say Hamilton saves his boldest looks for more causal affairs, from floral jackets to embellished shirts and wide brimmed hats and dark shades, you cannot miss him. Distressed jeans worn with a blazer will help to tone down an outfit and create a more casual vibe.

Take 5 with Ronen Tinman Artist Ronen Tinman of Studio Tinman gives a ‘realistic’ twist to the scope of automotive furniture by utilising authentic car parts for his collection. A classic re-interpretation of old into new sees car parts rescued form junkyards majestically morph into chests, sofas, sink units and more! “My work is greatly influenced by my background in mechanical engineering. I enjoy giving a “front seat” to the more minor aspects of these automobile parts, making sure every ounce of potential is squeezed from each one. So many resources are invested in creating these parts – I’m convinced that they can be reused, instead of constantly finding new raw material to work with. “The way I see it, every scar, every deformation, only adds to the worldliness and wisdom that I try to infuse into each piece of furniture – the final product. “I buy the raw materials at different junkyards, where already as I “meet” the piece for the first time, I can picture what the rusty, beat-up piece wants to become. From there, the road to the final, unique product is a long one, sometimes taking months. Most of the effort is spent preserving elements from the part’s “previous life” – indentations, trademarks symbols and so on. “It is important to me that I put true, high quality workmanship into the pieces I create, and produce high end, functional pieces, with a sometimes comical twist. Creating each piece sees the fascinating and exciting use of a myriad of techniques to give these parts a new lease on a long and respectable life.” www.ronentinman.com

Parking Perfection No matter what our motor collection persuasion, if we are passionate about cars, we are passionate about cars. Nothing will get in the way of owning that dream classic car or supercar and what we spend on the initial purchase is just the start of what will become an addiction, a commitment to ensuring it is enjoyed in just the way it was made. And of course it doesn’t stop at one, obviously car ownership works best when a collection is formed which opens up another topic of car conversation; storage. Where to keep your collection so it can be easily accessed for both driving and admiration whilst at the same time secure. Enter the super garage. It is becoming increasingly important for new home buyers to have adequate supercar pampering and if it doesn’t exist at point of purchase, there certainly needs to be room to create that perfect parking space. Here’s a few ideas to get you started.

If space for your car collection is overwhelmingly more important than living space. Translation, for those that can get away with spending most of their days in their garage; this is for you. This West Bellevue house in Washington is a modest $4m has just two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. However. The integrated garage has space to for 16 cars which can be viewed form most parts of the house –who needs a TV? 39

Parking Perfection One of Singapore’s most coveted addresses is an iconic apartment that only a select few will ever call home. High tech Hamilton Apartments on Orchard Road opened sale in 2013 as a residence of distinction. Each apartment is meticulously designed around the things that matter most to the buyer. Take your very own car porch in the sky for example; an apartment with two spaces will set you back around $8.5m

You could double the size of your parking space with the installation of a basement or lift garage from specialist solution company Cardok. With one car parked on top of the closed Cardok, the second parking space remains out of sight below ground so safety is at its optimum yet the second garage is fully open at the touch of a button.

If a traditional garage is more your thing, opt for the silent and speedy automatic Hormann garage door. An excellent deterrent for burglars which offers you an easy life too. Available at

No you’re not drunk, that is the price... Getting tipsy in the Savoy was never going to be a cheap affair but one cocktail in particular has the power to bankrupt drinkers at the American Bar in the famous central London hotel. Thought to have originated in pre-civil war New Orleans, the Original Sazerac is the most expensive item on the bar illustrious cocktail menua and will set sippers back an eye watering £5000. According to the drinks description on the menu, the Original Sazerac is: ‘The more sophisticated and richertasting older brother to the Old Fashioned, with roots in history that stretch back to the early and mid 19th century. ‘This version served at the Savoy is about as close as we’ll get to the real McCoy. Made using the Sazerac de Forge from 1857, which was the original brandy used at the time, which

is enhanced by 1950s Pernod Absinthe from Tarragona and Peychaud’s Bitters from the early 1900s.’ Now... whose round was it?

Do the ShuffleDog If you like a game with your craft beer then you might want to head over to the impressive Crispin House for the arrival of ShuffleDog, the second Leeds bar from BrewDog, which opened at the end of July. Dan Muldoon, BrewDog’s Area Manger said of the new concept bar: “Leeds is an awesome city for craft beer with an abundance of amazing breweries and bars, and we wanted to go all guns blazing into a brand new concept; ShuffleDog.” But what is ‘ShuffleDog’? Well, as well as all the usual BrewDog goodness, ShuffleDog is centred around three huge 22 foot shuffleboard tables to make this bar stand out from the rest of the pack. “For far too long Shuffleboard has been hugely underfunded in the UK... Therefore, we are putting three 22 foot long Shuffleboards into the new Leeds bar and setting down a puck to say, Shuffleboard for the Olympics.” 47

Shuffleboards explained, why Leeds? “Craft beer is on the rise and there is nowhere in the country that has a greater concentration of bars selling great beer than Leeds” explained Muldoon, “Our BrewDog bar in Leeds attracts a brilliant crowd of craft beer lovers – it’s always full of people who love their beer and we want to give them even more choice with this new bar.” All that shuffling will certainly have you working up an appetite and craft beer will only fill the whole so much so you can expect to be fed at ShuffleDog. They’ve added in a small menu of burgers and sandwiches to make sure folk can line their stomachs and keep their energy up while making a bid for Olympic shuffleboard glory. With such an offering, we’re confident ShuffleDog will fit right into its Northern Quarter surroundings – while they may offer a similar type of food and drink to those nearby, they’ll do it in their own BrewDog style, and it should add to the magnetic pull that seems to be growing in the area.

Napoleons Casino & Restaurant #SBEGPSE )VMM -FFET -POEPO 4IFGGJFME t XXX OBQPMFPOT DBTJOPT DP VL t 3FWJFXFE CZ *BJO 8BSE

Napoleons is a traditional casino less than 3 miles from Sheffield city centre and has been at its current site since 1996. In October 2014 it underwent a £2 million refurbishment & extension which introduced a new restaurant, new bar, new lounge, extended gaming floor, and the first outdoor gaming terrace outside of London. We were invited for an evening out at Napoleons to sample the atmosphere, food and facilities on offer and were pleasantly surprised at what we found! Upon entry we were greeted with a warm reception by Jamie, the restaurant manager who pointed out the lounge area with large leather sofas and coffee tables spaciously positioned where we could sit with a drink and peruse the menu options available. Darkly lit in contrast to the gaming area, it’s a place where you can absorb the atmosphere in comfort. Jamie came over and enthusiastically described the menu. It’s a monthly menu which he and Lee (Head Chef) devise on a quarterly basis (drawing on their previous AA Rosette experience) and come up with some unique and in some cases very brave combinations. This is no pub-grub kitchen slapped on as an afterthought to the casino and masquerading itself as a restaurant. This is two talented and imaginative professionals taking pride in offering a quality experience to elevate the status of the casino.

to order in-house, the smokiness of the haddock and saltiness of the cheese worked really well alongside the sweet mustard and fresh spinach. The belly pork is a clever variation on the tried and tested formula of pork & apple and the addition of pomegranate and fennel give a clean contrast to the richness of the pork.

a white pudding and raspberry parcel and whisky cream. I told you they were brave! Combining the contrasting textures of pork with sweet and sharp was a masterstroke. I’m not normally a “sweet with meat type of person but the light texture of the white pudding, the bite of the cutlet and the heavy whisky sauce worked wonderfully, especially when every so often you get a sharp hit of raspberry that lifted it into a different league.

For the main course, my partner chose a fillet of sea bass with potato gnocchi and king prawn and cockle chowder. The chowder packed all the salty/sweet punch you would hope for and the gnocchi was a fine accompaniment as it meant that nothing overpowered the perfectly cooked and delicate seabass which was allowed to shine through on its own merit.

For dessert we went for a white chocolate cheesecake with summer fruits which looked and tasted good enough but the show stealer was the innocuously entitled selection of ice creams. Chef is obviously aware that ice cream is ice cream. Presentation is everything here. The holy trinity of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla

I opted for the pork loin cutlet with

scoops and separate pots of 100’s & 1000’s, crushed nuts, berry sauce and wafer cones allow you to relive your childhood and build your own personal ice cream cone. Simple and just damn good fun, it was a wonderfully light hearted way of ending a great meal. This menu is only £25 per person and includes a choice of drink. I can’t work out how they manage to produce food of such quality and imagination at such a price point. Oh, and they chuck in a £5 gaming chip as well so you can finish the meal with a taste of the casino gaming floor. If you’re not up to speed with casino life, don’t worry, the croupiers keep an demo table free at all times so you can familiarise yourself with the house rules. Or you can simply use the gaming machines, some of which are positioned on the outside gaming terrace, the first in the UK outside of London A night at Napoleons is a great way to spend an evening even if you don’t gamble, it’s well worth going just for the refined ambience and quality food and drink. However half the fun is in having a flutter and the Dine In Style package is a great way to experience it all without having to risk a stake... unless you want to. In which case, do so responsibly.

To start we chose a smoked haddock and cheddar croquette with buttered spinach and mustard sauce and crispy belly pork with a shredded fennel salad with apple and pomegranate. All freshly prepared 49

Situated on the Duke of Devonshire’s 30,000 acre Bolton Abbey Estate in the Yorkshire Dales, The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel and Spa offers 40 individually designed bedrooms, the relaxing Devonshire Health Barn and extensive conference and banqueting.

The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa as we see it today was built in the early 17th century, though there had been a place of hospitality on this site for much longer than that. It came into the ownership of William Cavendish, the 4th Duke of Devonshire in 1753 as part of the Bolton Abbey Estate courtesy of his marriage to Lady Charlotte

Elizabeth Boyle, 6th Baroness Clifford. It was further developed by the 5th Duke who realised the importance of visitors to the area. During the 19th century the Royal Family would stay at Bolton Abbey for grouse shoots and The Devonshire Arms, which was often used for hospitality, expanded, so

that by 1840 it could stable twenty horses and four carriages. In 1981 the hotel underwent a major refurbishment and additional bedrooms were added, under the supervision of Her Grace the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire. Her personal touch is evident throughout. Much of the artwork has come from Chatsworth’s 51

Devonshire Collection, one of the finest private art collections in Europe. We were invited to stay at this grand establishment in order to get a real understanding of what is on offer at The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa. To read the full review visit www.modemagazines.co.uk

Cocktail Recipe : Sidecar Surprise, surprise, the origin of the Sidecar is not entirely known, but David A. Embury’s ‘Fine Art of Mixing Drinks’ credits the famous cocktail to a friend of his and whilst he does not name his friend, nor the bar in which it was created specifically, it is widely assumed he was reffering to Harry’s New York Bar and the owner Harry MacElhone; “It was invented by a firend of mine at a bar in Paris during Wolrd War I and was named after the motorcycle sidecar in which the good captain customarily was driven in to and from the little bistro where the drink was born and chirstened.” However, in early editions (1919 and 1922) of Harry’s own book ‘ABC of Cocktails’ he credits the Sidecar to Pat MacGarry, “the popular bartender at Buck’s Club, London” before eventually taking credit for the drink himself in later editions. Like so many classic cocktails, we might never know who truly named or created the famous Sidecar we know today, but certainly won’t stop us loving it.

1 ½ oz. Cognac ¾ oz. Cointreau ½ to ¾ oz. Fresh lemon juice Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into an iced old fashioned glass or preferable a cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange peel.

Note: If served “up” strain into a small cocktails glass with a sugared rim. 53

FOOD & DRINK

Recipe : Roasted Cod Roasted Cod Topped with Celery, Walnut and Black Olive Stuffing with Roasted Cherry Tomatoes Quick and easy to make whilst being very light and healthy, this is good food at its best. The crunchy mixture of the nuts, breadcrumbs and crunchy, sweet celery make a lovely contrast to the soft, creamy cod. (serves 4) Preparation Time: 10 mins Cooking Time: 20 mins

What you’ll need: 4 x approx 150g cod loin fillets 40g Panko breadcrumbs 2 sticks Fenland celery, finely sliced Zest and juice of 1 lemon 4 tbsp crème fraiche 40g walnuts, finely chopped 40g black olives, sliced 2 tbsp parsley, finely chopped 2 tbsp olive oil 250g cherry tomatoes on the vine, separated into bunches

What to do: Preheat oven 200c/ 180c fan/ gas 7. Grease a shallow roasting tray or heatproof baking dish large enough to hold the fish fillets and tomatoes on the vine. Mix together the breadcrumbs, Fenland celery, zest of the lemon, parsley, chopped walnuts and olives. Stir in 1 tbsp of the olive oil and a good squeeze of lemon juice, season to taste. Pat the cod fillets dry with kitchen paper, place on the baking tray and spread evenly with the crème fraiche then top generously with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing down lightly to ensure a good coating. Add the cherry tomatoes to the tray and sprinkle with the remaining olive oil. Cook in the oven for approx. 15 minutes until the fish is cooked through and the topping golden. Serve with a squeeze of lemon juice and some new potatoes. Cook's tip: Fenland celery is a heritage variety of celery grown in the Cambridgeshire Fens. In 2013, Fenland celery was awarded Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status and joined the ranks of Parma ham, Champagne and Melton Mowbray Pork Pies. Fenland celery is only grown in small pockets of Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk using traditional farming methods. The deep, peaty soils in the Fens work towards giving Fenland celery its nutty-sweet flavour and paler colour. Fenland celery is available from October to December and can be found in Waitrose, Ocado, Wholefoods and Marks & Spencer.

THEATRE & DANCE Three Days in the Country by Patrick Marber, after Turgenev

The Crucible Royal Exchange Theatre, St Ann’s Square, Manchester M2 Closes 18th September – 25th October

National Theatre, London 23rd July – 21st October Russia. A beautiful country estate. The mid-nineteenth century.

“The Devil is alive in Salem, and we dare not quail to follow wherever the accusing finger points.” Betty Parris lies in a trance after a childish game spins out of control, and accusations of witchcraft are quickly manipulated by those with something to gain. However, when false allegations reach fever pitch, the devout community of Salem descends into a cauldron of hysteria it can never return from.

A handsome new tutor brings reckless, romantic desire to an eccentric household. Over three days one summer the young and the old will learn lessons in love: first love and forbidden love, maternal love and platonic love, ridiculous love and last love. The love left unsaid and the love which must out.

Written in the 1950s when the insidious fear of communism gripped America, The Crucible is a devastating portrayal of the human cost of tyranny and vengeance. Director Caroline Steinbeis returns to the Royal Exchange following her sell out run in the Studio with Alistair McDowall’sBruntwood Prize-winning, Brilliant Adventures (2013).

Ivan Turgenev’s passionate, moving comedy, A Month in the Country, has been a source of inspiration for films, a ballet and the plays of Chekhov. It’s presented here in a new version by Patrick Marber whose work includes Closer and The Red Lion – playing in the Dorfman from 3 June. Produced in association with Sonia Friedman Productions

Kiss Me, Kate Leeds Grand Theatre, Leeds, LS1 21st September – 31st October ‘Another Op’nin’, Another Show:’ Opera North’s momentous 2015/16 kicks off to a dazzling start with a classic American musical comedy. Set both on and off-stage during the production of a musical version of The Taming of the Shrew, the plot revolves around the tangled love lives of actor-manager Fred Graham, his leading lady (but ex-wife) Lilli Vanessi, ingénue Lois Lane and her boyfriend Bill - not to mention a couple of gangsters who somehow get caught up in the show. Studded with gems as various as ‘So in Love’, ‘Wunderbar’, ‘Always True to You in My Fashion’ and ‘Too Darn Hot’, Kiss Me, Kate is a deliciously witty confection graced by what is probably Cole Porter’s richest, most accomplished theatrical score. Opera North’s new production is conducted by David Charles Abell, who has prepared a new critical edition of the score, and directed by Jo Davies, who is responsible for a string of recent Opera North successes, including Ruddigore, Carousel and The Marriage of Figaro. There is surely no more enjoyable way to brush up your Shakespeare than with this show.

Twelve people have walked on the moon, but only one man - Philippe Petit (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) - has ever, or will ever, walk in the immense void between the World Trade Center towers. Guided by his real-life mentor, Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), and aided by an unlikely band of international recruits, Petit and his gang overcome long odds, betrayals, dissension and countless close calls to conceive and execute their mad plan. Robert Zemeckis, the director of such marvels as Forrest Gump, Cast Away, Back to the Future, Polar Express and Flight, again uses cutting edge technology in the service of an emotional, character-driven story. With innovative photorealistic techniques and IMAX 3D wizardry, The Walk is true big-screen cinema, a chance for moviegoers to viscerally experience the feeling of reaching the clouds. The film, a PG-rated, all-audience entertainment for moviegoers 8 to 80, unlike anything audiences have seen before, is a love letter to Paris and New York City in the 1970s, but most of all, to the Towers of the World Trade Center.

MUSIC Who: Chvrches

What: Every Eye Open

What: In Dream

A round of applause please becuase Chvrches have announced the release of the second album, Every Eye Open and it’s a triumph. The Scottish synth-pop trio recently completed the recording of their sophomore LP, which acts as the follow-up to their 2013 debut, The Bones of What You Believe and speaking of the album’s lyrical content, lead singer Lauren Mayberry stated; “Because the album was written over such a long period of time, it’s about the goods and the bads, the beginnings and ends. Personally, I’m in a good place right now, but there’s definitely anti-love songs on there as well.” The album’s lead single, ‘Leave A Trace’ – which Mayberry described as a “middle finger mic-drop” – is set to premiered on BBC Radio 1 and has certainly left us wanting more...

Following the surprise release of their first new music in two years via a secretive placing of ‘No Harm’ on a Play It Again Sam label sampler and a further taster in the form of the seven plus minutes ‘Marching Orders’, Editors are pleased to announce the forthcoming release of their fifth studio album, ‘In Dream’ by Play It Again Sam worldwide on 2nd October 2015. Recorded in Crear in the Western Highlands by the band, and mixed in London by Alan Moulder, ‘In Dream’ is the second album to feature the ‘new’ line-up of the band with Justin Lockey and Elliott Williams firmly in place alongside founding members Tom Smith, Russell Leetch and Ed Lay.

SPORT

Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 18th September – 20th September 2015 In 2008 Singapore had the honour of hosting the first night-time event in Formula One history. The inaugural Singapore Grand Prix proved a huge hit, staged on a new street circuit, with the city's famous skyline providing a truly spectacular backdrop.

Formula 1 Gran Premio D’italia 2015 4th - 6th September 2015 Monza is regarded by many as the embodiment of Formula One racing.

Announced in May 2007 following the agreement of a five-year deal between Formula One Management CEO Bernie Ecclestone, Singapore entrepreneur Mr Ong Beng Seng, and the Singapore Tourism Board, it instantly established itself as one of the most dramatic and atmospheric races on the calendar. The event is more than just a motor race. "We envision it to be a national festival, and one that presents many opportunities for participation for everyone, both visitors and Singaporeans alike," said Singapore's Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Mr S Iswaran.

Not only is it a fantastic example of a track that combines speed with skill, it also has a heart and soul all of its own. It has seen some of the finest races of all time, but also some of the sport’s worst accidents. The names of great drivers and the sounds of engines from years gone by linger in the grand old trees surrounding the track in the royal park. Formula One racing visited the circuit as part of the inaugural season in 1950, and it has remained a permanent fixture on the calendar ever since.

Bentley Mulsanne Speed THE WORLD’S FASTEST ULTRA-LUXURY DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The New Bentley Mulsanne Speed is an awesome machine. It’s a huge car at over five and a half metres in length and over three tons in weight with an ultra luxurious cabin yet it has the performance to rival the best sports cars out there. It is actually mind-blowing. The reengineered powertrain, featuring Bentley’s mighty 6¾-litre twin-turbo V8, propels the Mulsanne Speed to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 190 mph. New and contemporary styling features define the

Mulsanne Speed as a statement in quintessential British luxury. Onboard technology and connectivity are discreetly integrated beneath the finest materials, created with unrivalled craftsmanship and exquisite handcrafted details. 64

Torque has been pushed to record levels. At the heart of the engine is a totally redesigned combustion system (including combustion chamber, inlet ports, fuel injectors, spark plugs, and compression ratio) which promotes a much faster and more controlled combustion process. Through combining these advances with new variable valve timing and optimised turbocharger control, torque output of the engine has now been pushed to 1,100 Nm (811 lb.ft) from 1,750 rpm. The new engine is paired with a recalibrated gearbox designed to enhance the driving experience. The gear strategy is optimised for the new, higher wave of torque, and is designed for instant torque delivery on throttle application. The connection between the car and driver has been the focus, and extensive validation with both keen drivers and professional chauffeurs has proven the new setup. A new “S” mode gives

the driver even more control, and maintains the engine speed above 2,000 rpm so that the turbochargers are always ready to deliver instantaneous performance. An extensive recalibration of the engine management system has yielded benefits beyond increased torque and power. The cylinder deactivation system, that runs the engine as a V4 during light load, has been retuned for smoother transitions between V8 and V4 for even greater refinement. This work combines with a new gearbox control strategy and the engine hardware improvements to give a new level of efficiency for the Mulsanne engine. The Mulsanne Speed reflects its ground-breaking performance with new and more assertive styling features that are marks of distinction for Bentley’s pinnacle flagship. A dark tint finish is applied to the exterior stainless

66

steel matrix grilles, in a process unique in the automotive industry, with the radiator grille, lower bumper grilles and wing vents all featuring this exquisite treatment. The distinctive headlights of the Mulsanne show the same dark tint application, and at the rear of the car the taillights retain the “floating ellipse” design, but are similarly finished with a dark tint for a striking appearance, especially at night. The Mulsanne Speed introduces Bentley’s first ever directional style wheel, with a design that is handed for the right or left side of the car. The 21" wheels, available in painted, polished and dark tint with machined accent finishes, are individually machined from solid forged blanks, before being perfected by hand. Twin rifled exhaust tailpipes are the finishing touch to the revised powertrain, while solid, polished stainless steel Speed badging adorns the front fender and door tread plate areas.

Concealed Technology and Endless Customisation Concealed beneath the exquisite materials that define the Mulsanne Speed cabin is a suite of technology to make any journey as productive or relaxing as one desires. A 60 GB on-board hard drive can store the driver’s collection of music and films. Electrically-operated tables, with recesses and connections for iPads and matching keyboards, can be fitted to the rear of the front seats, while on-board Wi-Fi through a dedicated router keeps the car connected to the outside world. A frosted glass bottle cooler, complete with bespoke crystal champagne flutes, may be installed behind the rear armrest. A 2,200 watt Naim for Bentley premium audio system expands on the standard 14-speaker system and offers the best incar sound experience in the world. Entertainment on-the-move can be provided through the Rear Seat Entertainment system, including two 8” screens and Bluetooth headphones. Verdict: The Signature Bentley Mulsanne is the car that will be driven by chauffeurs around the world with the majority of owners opting to enjoy the luxury from the back of the cabin. The Bentley Mulsanne Speed however is the car that will give many chauffeurs extra days off as the owners will want to enjoy driving this car themselves. At first it was a little daunting with the size of the car having to navigate busy roads in Leeds but I soon became totally relaxed and at one with car. This is testament to how good the Mulsanne Speed is to drive. As well as the obvious, it’s a Bentley, it’s big, it’s extremely luxurious. It is also excitingly sporty, has really good road feel and it is just great fun to drive. Cost wise, they start from over £250k and the model I tested had a lot of extras so was getting close to the £300k mark. This is quite a lot to spend on a car but having spent a few days with one there is now no question that in fact it is worth every penny.

A Cabin of Contemporary Luxury The cabin of the Mulsanne Speed is a contemporary reinterpretation of the exquisite interior of the Bentley flagship. To create a modern twotone feel, a new and unique colour split is available, with new stitch lines, that balances diamond quilted lightcolour hide with darker, smooth hide. A new technical veneer option is available, with Piano Black veneer panels now including expertly handcrafted carbon fibre inlays. These new, contemporary panels have been especially developed for the Mulsanne Speed and match the rich, lustrous finish of the Piano Black veneer.

TRUCK OFF 2015 We take a look at five of the best Pick-Up trucks available now.

Over the last couple of years Pick-Ups have become more and more popular for a whole host of reasons. These vehicles aren’t now just a choice if you need a commercial workhorse. These PickUps are great for everyday use whether it’s journeys to the office and business meetings or using it at weekends when the space comes it to its own. The double cab varieties have all the comfort and space

of the average saloon car. These work with space for the whole family and the back load area has the space needed for bikes, dogs, camping equipment or whatever you are in to. They obviously have big towing power so if you’ve got a boat or caravan this is an ideal choice for those trips away. The level of finish you’ll find in these ones we’ve chosen isn’t as refined as you would expect in a luxury

saloon but it’s not too far off at all. You will be surprised at what you can get as standard in the higher spec models. Full leather heated seats, full climate control, CD DAB radio and voice control Bluetooth mobile connection are just some of the things you might not expect. If you at all a little adventurous, even if it’s only at weekends then it’s worth taking a look. These five are our best picks.

Toyota Hilux

Ford Ranger

The Toyota Hilux has long been regarded as the Pick-Up that will keep running regardless of what is thrown at it. In the case of BBC’s Top Gear the Hilux famously survived a whole lot of punishment. It’s without doubt that if you’re looking for a Pick-Up then the Hilux has to be a serious contender. For me the Ford Ranger slightly edges it over the others with it’s exterior styling. It’s slightly bigger that the rest and has a more commanding feel from the driver position in the cab. When this fourth generation Mitsubishi L200 was launched it was hailed as the truly stylish alternative to the standard slab-style pick-ups on the market, with a more car-like userfriendly design which continued through to its interior. I really like the car like feel and finish of the cab as well as the exterior styling.

Since its introduction there have been many rather special variants of the L200, but none which offers such superb value as this L200 Challenger. Its 175 bhp engine provides amongst the best power to weight ratio of any pick-up in the UK, and Mitsubishi’s Active Stability and Traction Control (M-ASTC) contributes significantly to its superior handling. It has an extended load bed for greater cargo capacity and can tow up to three tonnes. Yet, despite its workman-like credentials, it also provides saloon-style comforts like climate controlled air conditioning, electric mirrors and windows all round (even into the load bed), alloy wheels and privacy glass, Bluetooth, cruise control and real top-of-therange niceties such as dusk and rain sensors. With a choice of seven different colours and the option of black leather trimmed seats, we challenge you to find a better buy. The L200 has the best driving experience over the rest and I was so impressed with the Mitsubishi I actually bought one. The price is also better that the rest so top marks to Mitsubishi.

Time to get away from the daily commute, get behind the wheel, get comfortable and really drive. Because there are roads, and there are roads. Thrilling turns, challenging gradients and stunning views make for an epic driving experience. So where to start?

Ruta 40 ARGENTINA One of the longest stretches of open highway in the world, the Ruta 40 connects 20 national parks with multiple passes through the Andes mountain range through 3000 miles. Some parts are obviously embracing the tourism angle, but keep going to the upper elevations where the climb is as high as 16 000 feet for a thrilling –and quieter stretch, only for the brave.

Jebel Jais UNITED ARAB EMIRATES A new stretch of snaking mountain road that runs between Ras Al-Khaimah and the Oman border, it snakes its way up Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest mountain at around 1950 metres. The stretch of asphalt is an awe-inspiring feat of engineering commissioned by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi, ruler of the Ras Al-Khaimah emirate, with the aim of attracting more tourism to the previously inaccessible mountainous area. It weaves up the mountain in a mix of fast kinks and daring hairpins all accompanied by stunning views. The team at McLaren recently road tested the 650s Spider there and announced it ‘an incredible stretch of road.’

Deals Gap, or "Tail of the Dragon" TENNESSEE, USA With 318 turns through just 11 miles, this stretch of Route 129 is a clear run of uninterrupted forest lined road with no intersections to slow you down. The ‘Tree of Shame’ is a stark reminder though to observe the dangers of such a road as it is adorned with crashed motorcycle parts. Oops.

Nurburgring Nordschleife GERMANY

Stelvio Pass ITALY A scenic mountain pass though the Italian Alps at an elevation of over 9,000 feet containing no less than 48 hairpin switch backs which are numbered so to mark each accomplishment. Purely for adventure seekers, the scenery at such a height is literally breath-taking. The path runs past ‘Three languages Peak’ named because the Italian, German and Romanish languages meet. 73

The original and older part of the Grand Prix race track, the ‘north loop’ is 20.8 km (12.9mi) long and has more than 1,000 feet of elevation change from its lowest to highest points. Jackie Stewart nicknamed the old track "The Green Hell" Built around the village of Nürburg in the 1920’s the loop takes drivers around several landmarks such as the medieval castle in the Eifel mountains and treacherous passes such as the ‘airport’ so called for its ability to launch vehicles off the tarmac. With 154 turns, even the most seasoned driver can be humbled here.

Vūhl 05 - an innovative new lightweight supercar for road and track The VŪHL 05 is an innovative mid-engined twoseater born of a motorsport heritage. Guillermo Echeverria senior, the father of its designers Guillermo and Iker Echeverria, was a professional driver who built and successfully raced his own cars for 30 years.

The sons inherited his passion and knowledge and formed their own Mexico City/Detroit-based design agency, ETXE, which having worked on projects for numerous global brands then penned the 05 – a lightweight supercar for road and track in the vein of the BAC Mono, Ariel Atom, KTM X-Bow etc. Said Iker: “Our background means the VŪHL 05 has been developed by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. We were determined to create a

highly intuitive machine that was both stirringly fast and immense fun to drive – a car we ourselves would want to own. We have endeavoured to endow it with class-leading ergonomics and a contemporary silhouette of striking proportions, and the aim of uncompromising build quality has underpinned the project since day one.” Engine/performance. Power comes from a 2-litre version of Ford’s award-winning DOHC turbocharged EcoBoost engine, the output of which is 285bhp and 420Nm of torque, giving a power to weight ratio of 400bhp per tonne. This results in a 0-100kph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 152mph. Expect to pay around £55,000 plus shipping and taxes. For further information visit www.VUHL05.com

Exp 10 speed 6 - a vision of Bentley design and performance The concept is a British interpretation of a high performance two seater sportscar using modern automotive design, highly skilled handcrafting, the finest materials and advanced performance technology. From the racing success of the company’s early years to the international motorsport success of today, ‘speed’ is part of Bentley’s DNA. This inspiration is expressed throughout the EXP 10 Speed 6, where iconic Bentley design cues are fused with progressive craftsmanship techniques and modern technologies.

Copper elements are used as accents to both exterior and interior features to highlight the performance hybrid potential of the concept’s advanced new powertrain. Performance goals including top speed are set to challenge competitors and define a new segment benchmark. Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, comments: “EXP 10 Speed 6 is one vision for Bentley’s future – a powerful, exquisite and individual concept. The showcar has the potential to be the new pinnacle luxury twoseat sports car. It offers thrilling, driver-oriented performance, complete with trademark modern Bentley luxury and effortlessness. It could be a future model line, alongside the Continental GT and redefining the pinnacle of another market sector, and the styling of the EXP 10 Speed 6 could influence the expansion of the Bentley family. This is not just a new sports car concept – but the potential Bentley sports car – a bold vision for a brand with a bold future.” 78

With thanks to: JCT600 Brooklands, Maserati Leeds www.jct600.co.uk the road. Another thing I love about the GT is the glorious sound it produces. Overall and without any doubt, this car is driving perfection. In only the second time of #MODEdrives it got my 5 star plus rating.

Porsche 911 Carrera GTS The GTS can be gentle when needed. On one of the days with the car we headed up the A1 into North Yorkshire to find some ideal roads to put it through its paces. Cruising on the motorway and main roads around Yorkshire the GTS is very comfortable and effortless to drive. The fuel consumption is surprisingly good. It’s when you find the right roads and engage the Sports Plus mode, that the racetrack engineering smacks you around the face and the fun begins. At the push of a button the GTS becomes a monster of a car that is unbelievably fun to drive. I really love this car. Is this driving heaven? I think so. I do really love this car. It looks the business and delivers big time on thrills and driving experience. The GTS is now my favourite car ever and I hope to own one soon. This car has been given a five star plus rating because it’s just that good! THE FACTS: Power
