MaKami Students Food Bank Now Accepting Donations
MaKami Students Food Bank is accepting monetary or food donations to help give food baskets to students who could benefit from them this holiday season. Drop your donations off at the front desk before December 15 and the class with most donations will win a special prize!
Appreciating the Volunteers of Fort MacMurray MaKami Edmonton students showed their appreciation to some of the volunteers that helped out following the Fort MacMurray fires. It was a pleasure to honour these people and treat them to massages as a small token for all they have done for those affected by the fires.

Sherwood Park Bonspiel Success! Edmonton students had nearly as much fun as the participants at the Mixed Curling Bonspiel in Sherwood Park on Nov 19 with the Sherwood Park Curling Club. Between draws the players came in for massages and margaritas, a combination that makes for a great Saturday!
Meet Blanca! Say hi to Blanca, one of Edmonton campus’ awesome student advisors. Originally from sunny Mexico, Blanca moved to cold but beautiful Edmonton in 2008. She enjoys working at MaKami because it gives her the gift of meeting people that want to change their lives by earning an education. Blanca also loves to see each student transform and grow as both an individual and professional. She volunteers at P.A.L.S (Project Adults Literacy Society) and other various charities. Blanca is a very happy person with the personal philosophy of seeing every situation, no matter good or bad, as an opportunity to be a better person.
Around Campus: Calgary Hockey helps the Homeless Fundraiser tour Calgary students were happy to give free massages at the Hockey helps the Homeless tournament in Calgary at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park November 4.

Road trip to treat Diva’s in Lethbridge
Meet Mairi! Say hi to Mairi, Calgary campus’ Anatomy and Physiology tutor. With a bachelor’s degree in biology, Mairi is a fountain of knowledge in all things bioscience-y. Prior to starting at MaKami in February 2016, Mairi worked in food testing micro biology lab where she discovered some grimacing things. Next, she did research with beef cattle but that wasn’t for her either. Finally, she found her niche at MaKami. “MaKami has a perfect balance of everything I want in a job: social interaction, no paperwork, and no phone calls to make. I find great satisfaction in helping someone!” Mairi aspires to be a biology teacher in the future.
Our Calgary team had fun on a road trip to Lethbridge to take part in the Domesticated Diva’s Even Planning and Gift Expo. Attendees were treated to free massages as they pursued the booths full of wonderful gift ideas for Christmas.
When Mairi is not tutoring, she is usually “adventuring” with her two little boys.
Multidisciplinary clinic seeks RMT Crash Performance and Health is looking to hire a part or full-time Registered Massage Therapist for busy multidisciplinary clinic. Would be working directly with elite athletes in conjunction with other health practitioners, including Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, Fascial Stretch Therapists, Massage Therapists, Concussion Specialists, and a Naturopath Doctor. Must be motivated and have an interest in sports/athletics. Needs to be proficient in therapeutic/deep tissue and sports massage.
