The Calgary Stampede was back in full swing this year With record breaking crowds, beautiful weather (if you don't count the bad storm that lasted an hour during Sneak-a-Peek), the MaKami team of student massage therapists and staff had a great time!
The crowds loved seeing the massage therapists and were eager to connect with the therapists after for repeat visits
A BIG THANK YOU o all our students and staff who were at the Stampede MaKami was chosen as the Best Best Show Experience at the Calgary Exhibition We could not have done that without all of you! Well done!
Watch your student email and Moodle ToolKit to be a part of future Community Outreach Events, these are an excellent way to increase your experience working with a variety of clients, and a great networking opportunity to build your massage therapy client list
Spirits were high, and so was the temperature, as MaKami College returned to Heritage Festival in Edmonton after a two year hiatus We were excited to be back at one of our favourite Community Outreach Events, and the crowds were, too!
Students treated visitors at the festival to seated massages, kids were found all over the grounds of the festival toting their spiffy MaKami College balloons and a great time was had by all!
Shout out to our students and staff who persevered through the elements from the hot, hot sun, to the rain and wind, you are all rock stars! It's all part of the experience, it makes us all appreciate working in a temperature controlled clinic that much more.
July 8 17 Western Week came through campus in a blaze of glory! MaKami students and staff put a little giddy up in their step as they enjoyed the opportunity to wear jeans and western wear to school! Thanks to everyone who dressed up and participated in our theme week.
Watch for your next chance to dress up September 6 10 for Superhero Week!
Take your massage therapy business to the next level with Biotone lotions and gels. Biotone lotions and gels offer a great glide and workability with excellent absorption and a non greasy feel.
Students and staff at the MaKami Calgary campuses were surprised with a frozen treat to beat the heat on July 28. The MaKami Calgary Social Committee brought in icy treats that were greatly enjoyed by all!

Introducing Robyn, the core instructor for many of MaKami’s online programs. Currently living on the unceded and traditional territories of the Okanagan and Syilx Nations, Robyn’s formal education is an MA in Professional Communication from Royal Roads University. Robyn brings with her extensive teaching experience from her 20 year career focused on Indigenous and adult education, specializing in online education since 2018.
Robyn carries an education philosophy of traditional grassroots learning, a belief in two way learning where the teacher and the learner are both a teacher and learner. She believes that planting a seed of knowledge in one mind can create generational change and planting seeds of knowledge in many minds can have a global impact.
Thenexttimesomeoneinterrupts you,usethemtoyouradvantage andgooverthematerial It’sokif theydon’tunderstand,it’smore foryoutoforceyourselftorecall whatyou’vebeenstudyingand checkthatyouareclearaboutthe materialyou’vebeengoingover
Often when we’re studying we think the best thing to do is separate ourselves from our friends and family and just focus on the material. This month, we’d like to suggest that perhaps those that want to see you do well are a more valuable resource than just a snack and coffee provider when you’re deep in the material. A great way to see if you really understand the material is to explain it, or teach it, to someone else. Explain your answer to them and see if you can remember the material. This will help you get it clear in your own head and will highlight any areas you need to work on further.
So do yourself a favour, and the next time someone interrupts you, use them to your advantage and go over the material It’s ok if they don’t understand, it’s more for you to force yourself to recall what you’ve been studying and check that you are clear about the material you’ve been going over

Visit the reception desk at your MaKami College Campus during Superhero week (September 6 10) and write a special message about the Everyday Heroes in your life! Perhaps it's a fellow student who goes out of their way to help you understand your work, or an instructor who brightens your day Maybe it's a parent or child who has done something extraordinary to help our communities.
We want to recognize these Everyday Heroes and show them some love!

He has completed MaKami's Master Instructor program and is currently working on a bachelor’s degree in health sciences with a focus on business management.
He has a partner and a cat that keep him busy, but he’s a huge nerd at heart. He loves video games, books, gardening, shopping, dancing and optimism

"Lisa is an excellent teacher. Her own technique helps me to understand and remember the topic quickly and
As an athlete, Florin was always getting injuries, so over time he became very in tune with the muscles in his body and how they work.
Florin had heard about MaKami 10 years ago, "My ex girlfriend and her mother were taking classes in the massage therapy program, and that's how I heard about the school's program. I got a lot of details about what MaKami was doing and how it supports students, and I thought it was awesome. The school always kind of stuck in my mind."
Florin decided to take a tour of the college for himself. "the thing that attracted me the most is they're looking at people as individuals, not just achievements. The instructors are really willing to help you from the bottom and work your way up. "
After graduation, Florin plans on opening his own business training and treating athletes. "I'm a business oriented individual, I like the security of working for a company and to polish my skills, but I'm looking to get my own business where I can do what I love and be my own boss."
"Mastery of the subject matter. Reza is very very good."
"Deanne is my best tutor, she's patient and clear. She used a strategy that simplified my questions and she gave me great studying skills.
