Aktar Proġetti Fil‑Missjoni
Dear Msgr. Valent,
Greetings from Arusha, Tanzania. Our delegature has been raised to the level of region, so now we are called East African Region, operating in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. This means that our missionaries have returned home and we have to take on the region in terms of forming the seminarians, upkeep of our brother priests, and carrying on other charitable projects. In short, we are independent in terms of decision‑making as well as finances. This decision came at a time when our region was facing a financial crisis just like the rest of the world due to the pandemic. We were not able to make mission appeals and in most parts of the parishes we did not have even church‑gate collections. This has had a negative impact on the formation and the general welfare of our region. It is our prayer that God intervenes in this situation.
Providentially, with your help we have started sustainable projects in Arusha, Tanzania. You helped us to find donators who sponsored us with funds to construct two greenhouses, a poultry farm and a chapel. These projects, hopefully, will be able to contribute to a reasonable income to our congregation to support our evangelising efforts. We still need your financial help in order to manage the task ahead of us. We also need your prayer, advice and support.
Kindly convey our sincere appreciation to all our donators on various projects. May God bless them and may He give them the gift of eternal life. They are always in our prayers especially as we move towards Advent and Christmas.
Thank you. I remain yours sincerely in the Lord, Father Allan Bukenya, SAC. Director of Promotions East Africa
THE PALLOTTINE FATHERS
The Pallottine Fathers is a missionary congregation founded by St Vincent Pallotti in 1835 with the charism of rekindling faith and love among the people of God. We, as Pallottines, have been working in East Africa since 1940. We work mainly in parishes, children rehabilitation centres, seminary formation, youth animation programmes, women and girl empowerment and apostolate to the sick, and we go wherever there is a need. We do this in collaboration with people of will with whom we work for the coming of the kingdom of love, justice and mercy, where sins are forgiven, the sick are made whole, and where the needs of the poor and the vulnerable are met. Our way of approach in order to achieve our goal, we co‑operate with people of every state of life, who are compelled by the love of Christ to see, judge and act in charity.
1. THE POULTRY PROJECT
We proposed to Missio Malta to start a project that will sustain the Pallottine Missions in East Africa.
The Poultry Project was sponsored by benefactors through Missio Malta. The funds were used to construct a poultry house, purchase of chicken cages as well as chicks, and chicken feeds.

The project will transform lives of the stakeholders that is, the Pallottine Missionaries, by providing sustainable income in order to support the Pallottine Missions in East Africa. More than that the value chain acts as an opportunity to leverage the bigger market for our products and by‑products created by the growing demand in Arusha city in Tanzania. In addition, poultry is a source of affordable 2 proteins, for example in eggs, which is essential for health and nutrition. It’s our hope that with this project will benefit the poor health children of the Esso‑Pallotti slum in which the project is implemented. We have already started getting manure for other agricultural activities on the farm, for example for bananas. Some projects tend to fail due to lack markets, however, the poultry project will enjoy the available domestic market. Many people in Arusha consume eggs, so we have an assured market for our

products. We also have access to feed through the company which monitors and supervises the project. The cost of poultry feeds has escalated due to the pandemic, since many companies were shut down as a way of controlling the spread of the virus. Generally, the poultry project has a very high cost of running in terms of vaccines, electricity and labour.
We are very grateful to Missio Malta and to our dear donators for their continued assistance in this project. With their help we shall be able to reach out to those who need our help, especially the poor and the marginalized, since after selling eggs, the proceeds will go to those in need. Your continued assistance in this project is hightly appreciated.

2. THE CHAPEL ON ESSO PALLOTTI FARM
The chapel is really needed in the place and will help people to draw closer to God. It will be a centre for catechetical instruction and a place of prayer for those in search of God, and especially for the Small Christian Community prayer gathering. Once the chapel is completed, we shall have daily Eucharistic celebration.
There has been substantial work done so far on the chapel. We remain with the work of roofing, and installing windows and doors in the chapel plus other finishing works. The challenge is that the building materials are very expensive due to the increase in value added tax. This has made our initial estimation to be affected. However, I am doing my best to reduce expenses as much as I can and come up with a nice chapel. We have already procured enough timber for roofing. We have also windows and doors (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride‑UPVC). We have gone ahead to do the walling and what remains is the roofing of the chapel

Timber planks for the chapel roofing.
Doors and windows to be installed in the chapel.

# MISSIO FEST 12 ta’ Marzu, 2023 with iron sheets, and other finishing processes including putting tiles, gypsum ceiling boards and electricity. I will also do the furnishing by installing the tabernacle and the altar and also the chairs. It is an important work which is ahead of us.
We are very grateful to Missio Malta and our donators for their donations, which has been spent on the purchase of materials, transport, and payment for labour and services. We hope that with your generous contribution our chapel will be finished as early as possible. Your continued assistance in this project is highly appreciated.
On behalf of the Pallottine Fathers, I would like to assure you that our confreres value your sacrifices in order to support us, and so it is with humility that we promise you our prayers. May God bless you always with good health of mind and body, and after our earthly journey, may He bless you with the gift of eternal life.
Together we journey, together we serve. Yours in Christ the Lord, Father Allan Bukenya, SAC. Director of Promotions East Africa

Fil-kalendarju Gregorjan, is-sistema tal-kalendarju l-aktar użata llum, is-Sena l-Ġdida tibda fl-1 ta’ Jannar. Dan kien ukoll l-ewwel jum tas-sena fil-kalendarju Ġiljan oriġinali u l-kalendarju Ruman, wara l-153 QK. Kulturi oħra josservaw Jum l-Ewwel tas-Sena tradizzjonali jew reliġjuż tagħhom skont id-drawwiet tagħhom stess, minħabba li jużaw kalendarju lunar jew kalendarju lunisolar. Is-Sena l-Ġdida Ċiniża, is-Sena l-Ġdida Iżlamika, is-Sena l-Ġdida Tamil (Puthandu), u s-Sena l-Ġdida Lhudija huma fost eżempji magħrufa. L-Indja, in-Nepal u pajjiżi oħra wkoll jiċċelebraw is-Sena l-Ġdida f’dati skont il-kalendarji tagħhom stess li jvarjaw mill-kalendarju Gregorjan.

Hekk kif bdejna Sena Ġdida, ejjew inroddu ħajr lil Alla għal dak kollu li ngħożżu: is‑saħħa tagħna, il‑familja tagħna u l‑ħbieb tagħna. Ejjew neħilsu mid‑dwejjaq tal‑passat, ir‑rabja u l‑uġigħ tagħna, għax dawn mhuma xejn ħlief ktajjen li jorbtu. Ejjew ngħixu kuljum bl‑aktar mod sabiħ ta’ mħabba; il‑mod konxju ta’ Alla.
Ammen.
