The Staghorn With the completion of the Staghorn, all of the Invitationals are 'in the books'. The Staghorn is our largest event with 144 players and it's the first 'back to normal' one we've had since 2019. It was fantastic to be back behind Hole 18 calling the shots with all the patrons in the bleachers watching some fantastic golf. We had some incredibly crazy wind come through the Valley on Friday with measured gusts of over 40mph! All of the players in the Staghorn had a Playing Conditions Adjustment of a +2 (the first +2 I've ever seen). What does Playing Conditions Calculation mean? Well, if scores were abnormally low or high, a PCC adjustment between -1 and +3 will be applied to the Score Differentials™ of everyone who played that day. A negative adjustment means the course played easier than expected, and a positive adjustment means the course played more difficult than expected. A PCC of 0 means the course played as expected, which will be the case on most days. Once the winds had subsided and the dust had settled, we could start our Championship Shootout with all of the flight winners below. In the end, it was the team of Larry Stranghoener and his partner Terry Ray, who emerged as the 2022 Staghorn Invitational Champions. They edged out the team of Tom Richards and Joe Breakey with a hardfought three in the final round of the shootout to take home the championship. In third place was the team of Jim Williams and his partner Matthew Haedicke, beating out Greg & Zach Maanum in a Chip-off. 2022 Flight Winners Ben Hogan Flight: Greg Maanum and Zach Maanum Bobby Jones Flight: Ken Malvey and Scott Grewe Walter Hagen Flight: Bill Gray and Steve Gorny Harry Vardon Flight: Bill Peifer and Stewart Broeren Gene Sarazen Flight: Tim Bohannon and Mike Smith Jack Nicklaus Flight: Jim Williams and Matthew Haedicke Byron Nelson Flight: Richie Schmock and Howard Kendrick Tommy Armour Flight: Larry Stranghoener and Terry Ray Arnold Palmer Flight: Marc Huffman and Chris Kiehn
