A TA S T E O F MIRABEL Some elements of the Mirabel culinary experience are so inspiring, noteworthy, or one-of-a-kind that they deserve special mention.
Our signature sweet is a very special take on the classic oatmeal raisin cookie, with milk and white chocolate chips, dried cranberries, and toffee. And while other delicious housebaked delights are always available, the Mirabel Magic cookie is consistently the most popular.
Our signature beef jerky is made from scratch onsite, derived from a recipe that was created by Chef Tim Fields’ mother (with tweaks added by Chef Tim and original Mirabel bartender Al Marlinga).
When you start to crave a little snack while playing a round, on-course Comfort Stations are there for you. Stocked with Mirabel favorites — including our Mirabel Magic ice cream sandwiches, plus plenty of healthy snacks and ice-cold beverages — it’s a treasured part of our golf experience.
The 10th Tee Grill is Mirabel’s reimagined take on the mid-round halfway house. Our talented chefs prepare first-class fare for Members and guests who are craving something more substantial than a light snack.

The first lot at Mirabel (#43) sells in August to John McWilliams and the Mirabel golf course opens for Member play in December. Eleven memberships sell by year end for $85,000 each.
Jerry Nelson partners with Lehman Brothers to develop the property and Greg Norman is engaged to design “Stonehaven,” a public golf course for low-handicappers. Construction is completed in 2000 but Stonehaven never opens to the public.

Desert Troon Company and developer Jerry Nelson acquire 924 acres to develop “Troon Corviglia” on the site that would eventually become Mirabel. The project was never started.

Terrabrook acquires Stonehaven and engages Discovery Land Company to develop Mirabel. Discovery hires Jeff Goren and Bob Lomax, and engages Tom Fazio to develop the golf course.

The Mirabel Staghorn tournament is won by Gary and Tom Finney in April. The first Pilgrimage golf tournament (shortened to just 11 holes due to bee swarms on the back nine) and Harvest Celebration “reception” take place in November.
Mirabel’s first Men’s and Ladies’ club championships take place in March. The inaugural Pima Rose tournament is won by Gerri Warren Mary and Jane Ridgeway in April. The Desert Lodge Clubhouse opens in November.

TIMELINE The first Foothills Food Bank charity fundraiser is held in January and raises $7,200. The newly expanded Mirabel fitness center opens in February.

The first Maui Jim Intercollegiate golf tournament is held in September; LSU wins the team title.
The golf course renovation project is completed in October with improvements to the bunkers, tee boxes, driving range and shortgame practice facility. The 10th Tee Grill opens in November.
In May, Members approve the Master Facilities Plan to add a new bar and pickleball courts, plus expanded casual dining and fitness center space.
Mirabel’s Employee Scholarship Fund is launched in January. The remodeled Desert Lodge Clubhouse re-opens in February. All memberships are sold out for the first time in the Club’s history in September and Mirabel celebrates its 20th Anniversary in November.

MIRABEL G I V E S BAC K Mirabel Members’ shared commitment to our community and our neighbors is reflective of the character of our Membership and is illustrated in the time and resources we devote to a wide range of worthy causes. Building on the spirit of friends-as-family, Members created the Mirabel Magic Network in 2021 to help take care of the employees who take care of us. From school supplies and scholarships to financial support in times of medical crisis, this allvolunteer Member initiative assists Mirabel staff when they need it most. Mirabel Members’ sense of community and giving is too generous to be confined to just the boundaries of our community. Each year we hold events to raise money for worthy causes in the Phoenix area; our biggest charities being the Hope for the Cause event, which raises money for cancer research at HonorHealth Research Institute, and the Foothills Food Bank. Club Members have raised more than $4.5 million for Hope for the Cause and more than $600,000 for the Foothills Food Bank.
