John MacMartin came to Minot to serve as president of Minot Area Chamber of Commerce and started August 15, 1990. In October 2019, John was named the interim president for Minot Area Development Corporation, while continuing in his role at the Chamber. In December 2020, the two organizations merged into the current Minot Area Chamber EDC. John served as the Minot Area Chamber EDC President | CEO until mid-May. “On behalf of the board of directors we want to thank John for his service. His passion, commitment, and work on behalf of our organization and community is greatly appreciated. I’ve had the pleasure of chairing three boards that John was the President of, and I know John cares deeply about this community. We wish him all the best with his retirement,” said Minot Area Chamber EDC Chair Randy Hauck. Task Force 21 Chair Mark Jantzer added, “I personally want to thank John for the work he’s done for our relationship with Minot Air Force Base. With two legs of the nuclear triad in Minot, the work Minot Area Chamber EDC does on the day-to-day issues, as well as behind the scenes in advocating through TF21, is so important, and John made sure this stayed a priority for the community and the Chamber.” Brekka Kramer stepped into the Chamber EDC President | CEO position on May 16. Kramer shared, “One of John's strengths is how he brings people together and partners with others. He's given over 30 years to the community and I know in retirement he'll continue to be an advocate for the Minot area." “The City of Minot and Chamber EDC wouldn’t be where it is today without the hard work and dedication of John the past 32 years,” said Vice President, Carla Dolan. “He put in many hours, has so much knowledge and has made it so we are confident we can take it from here!” The entire team from Minot Area Chamber EDC wishes John the best with his retirement.
