Dear neighbours:
Mijas is a municipality closely linked to the Mediterranean and, in particular, La Cala, the seaside area par excellence. That is why I am proud to present the La Cala Fair which will be held from the 24th to the 28th of July and which has the sea as one of its distinguishing features.
It is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the summer, where hundreds of people come together to enjoy a few days full of joy and fun. This festivity has been growing year after year and has become a tourist attraction and a genuine benchmark for the Costa del Sol.
Hospitality and multiculturalism are some of the main characteristics of the Fair, although at the same time we do not forget our traditions and seafaring roots. This mixture is possible thanks to the local people, who make an effort and give their all to make these festive days unforgettable and better in each edition.
We have prepared a very special programme for all kinds of audiences: there will be shows, concerts, rides... everything! Bearing inclusivity in mind, we have also thought about people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), so every day from 19:00 to 21:00 hours we will reduce the noise as much as possible so that they can also experience this event to the fullest. The first day, 24th of July, will be Children’s Day, so the rides will have a reduced price after reaching an agreement with the fairground workers.
Finally, I would like to thank all the workers, Local Police, Fire Brigade and Civil Protection for taking care of us and for ensuring that everything goes well. Also to Mijas Comunicación for broadcasting it live and for bringing the event closer to people’s homes. Of course, my most sincere gratitude to the Festivities Department team, who have been preparing this event for months.
I wish you a few days full of joy and encounters, in which you will be surrounded by your loved ones.

The La Cala fair is here, a long-awaited moment to enjoy together!
Five days in which joy, colour and our traditions will be the protagonists. From the Department for Festivities we have worked hard to offer you a very complete programme of activities and events. The affection and involvement of all those who make up the department have been evident in each of the proposals to ensure that everyone can be part of these festive days.
Both our night and day fairs will have a wide range of offers that will give us the opportunity to enjoy with our family and friends and live unforgettable days. An inclusive, participative and colourful fair, which perfectly reflects the idiosyncrasy of La Cala, an integrating, multicultural and Mediterranean centre, benchmark in the Costa del Sol.
A wide range of gastronomic, musical and fun rides will occupy a privileged place in this festive event that embraces and welcomes everyone who visits it.
Of course, I reiterate my gratitude to all those who, with their work and dedication, make it unforgettable.

CHILDREN’S SPECIAL DAY
AS AGREED BETWEEN THE COUNCILLOR RESPONSIBLE FOR FESTIVITIES AND THE FAIRGROUND WORKERS, ALL THE RIDES FOR CHILDREN AT THE FAIRGROUND WILL BE PRICED AT 2.50 EUROS.
During the celebration of the fair, from 19:00 to 21:00 hours, the distinctive sound of the rides area will be eliminated so that children with special needs can enjoy the fair by eliminating acoustic barriers.

The dinner will be offered to all the elderly who have registered at the Municipal Department for the Elderly and have collected their invitation.

PROCLAMATION
Ana Carmen Mata Rico, Mayoress-President of Mijas Town Hall, in use of the powers conferred on her by law,
HEREBY INFORMS
In view of the forthcoming celebration of the Festivities and Fair of La Cala, which will take place from the 24th to the 28th of July 2024, both inclusive, I consider it appropriate to report on the various rules of hygiene, respect and coexistence to make these festive days more enjoyable.
In respect of food and and drink establishments, the following must be complied with:
The price list must be displayed in a visible place, including the prices of all products served.
All persons who, due to their work activity, have direct contact with food shall have the official food handler’s certificate.
The Complaint Forms established in Decree 82/2022, of 17 May, (BOJA nº 95, 20 May 2022) will be posted in a visible place and will be available to the public.
Products in which eggs are used as an ingredient must comply with the criteria established in the current legislation as regards their preparation and consumption.
The marketing and consumption of ‘chanquetes’ and other species of immature fish is strictly prohibited.
All establishments set up on a temporary basis must comply with the same rules that apply to permanent establishments.
The preparation of meals is prohibited in unauthorised places, both in the open air and inside vehicles, as well as the consumption of meals in places that are not authorised for this purpose.
In addition, I would like to put on record other rules that must be complied with during the development of our festivities:
The fairgrounds will be closed to traffic of all types of motor vehicles from 8.00 hours, allowing unloading work in the street vending area from 18.00 to 19.00 hours along the side avenues.
All installations located in the fairgrounds (peñas, political groups, attractions, bars, stalls, etc.) will cease their activity at 05.00 hours. From 05.00 hours, music will be eliminated both on the rides and in the rest of the activities and stalls on the fairground.
The installation of all types of machines, chairs, tables and counters outside the limits of the plot where the event is held is prohibited.
It is forbidden to distribute or sell tobacco without the required authorisation, in compliance with Law
28/2005, of 26th December, in fixed or mobile stalls and in unauthorised facilities.
The sale and use of firecrackers, flares and similar items is strictly forbidden. These will be confiscated by the Local Police and the corresponding complaint will be processed.
Unauthorised street vending is prohibited, and the Local Police may proceed to remove the merchandise being sold, as long as the purchase of the merchandise and its legitimate ownership is not accredited by means of an invoice.
Horses and carriages are authorised to travel through the streets of Mijas, which will be signposted and delimited in this respect, during the celebration of the La Cala Fair. Carriages and horses must be in possession of civil liability insurance in compliance with the provisions of the applicable regulations.
The exhibition, sale, donation or possession of bladed weapons or objects with similar characteristics will not be permitted, and the Local Police will proceed to report and seize them.
In the fair booths and fairground facilities, the prohibition of selling and providing alcoholic drinks to minors will be controlled.
Booths and clubs located in the fairground must obey the rules established in the current Police and Entertainment Regulations, paying special attention to the points regarding safety and fire prevention.
Failure to comply with this rule will be subject to a complaint by the Local Police, which may result in the opening of a disciplinary proceeding and the precautionary closure of the stand. The Local Police and the technicians responsible for Mijas Town Hall will check compliance with the above provisions.
Such measures are intended to ensure that everyone enjoys an orderly festive period and that the coexistence of all those taking part in the Fair is cordial. I would also like to take this opportunity to invite the residents and shopkeepers from Mijas to dress up in Andalusian attire and to decorate their establishments and façades with festive motifs to enhance the Festivities and Fair of La Cala.
