Ecco che l’urgenza, il bisogno di verità e di condivisione divengono benzina perché avvenga la catarsi, il passaggio tra stadi, unico movimento salvifico capace di dare senso al gioco di luci e ombre che è vivere.

Sometimes we talk about only a few lines, sometimes about a few pages, but they are surely always ways of expression ready to tell about suffering, turmoil and wounds and also about love and joy. It is this what Lana’s collection is all about - a magnificent means to express that truth that conquers and engages our souls that forgets about our age, sex or ideology. Lana Del Rey’s book of poetry tells about a woman writer so much belonging to the age she is living in, that feels, processes and has as its priority, as a witness, to leave a record about an inner “voyage” that some of us are feeling and have in common. There is melancholy and sadness in her verses, but also hope and awareness, essential ingredients to help us go forward on this wonderful complex and wonderful way called life.

Full immersion in reading this collection is like letting ourselves be fascinated by the passing photograms, one after another, witnesses of the daily routine that hides deep down in the writer’s action of writing, of savouring, the experienced things sign by sign. Loss and loneliness go together with the engaging images on the pages of the book, but at the same time they are the love of and the need to be able to feel a sense of belonging that make it so rich and powerful. Then, there is the priority coming, the need of truth and of sharing that turn into fuel for katarsi to happen. The passage through phases, the unique redeeming event capable of giving a sense to the play of light and shadows. And all of this means: to live.
