MONACO YACHT SHOW: SEPTEMBER 27 TO 30, 2023

Considered the largest annual gathering of superyachts in the world, the event is a must for private owners and new clients looking for a unique immersive experience in the world of yachting.

Once again this year, the MYS is continuing its “Seducation” development program deployed over three years, the first cycle of which will be consolidated in 2023.

The “Seducation” program is an initiative designed in collaboration with the industry and is based on four essential pillars: environmental innovation, design, yachting understanding and visitor experience.

THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023
THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

The organizers of the MYS thus aim to make the show a real “ecosystem” of yachting, by encouraging innovation that respects the environment and by offering visitors an immersive and educational discovery highlighting the latest and most innovative trends in the world of yachting. yachting.

The ambitious objective of this program is to reinforce the leading position of the MYS as the international trade show of reference for the yachting industry, while offering an unforgettable experience to yacht and lifestyle enthusiasts.

This is how since 2021, the MYS has themed its exhibition with in particular the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub, the Sustainability Hub, the Adventure Area or the Dockside Area which offers privileged access to the exhibition of yachts at the quay for visitors interested in a yacht project.

The show will consolidate its first “Seducation” cycle by unveiling an impressive fleet of 120 superyachts and megayachts available on the market, including the highly anticipated 2023 launches. Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover the latest lifestyle trends on board. a yacht, thanks to the exhibition of hand-picked yachting companies. The Dockside Area and Adventure Area will also offer full immersion in yachting and related activities.

The MYS will also ensure the participation of driving force companies to present innovative and viable solutions in design and in favor of the environment and sustainability, highlighting ecoresponsible technologies while offering an inspiring vision for enthusiasts of yachts (Sustainability Hub, Yacht Design & Innovation Hub).

Finally, visitors will be able to attend conferences during the day and receive information dedicated to future yacht customers. They will be able to meet the best experts and the most qualified

professionals to help them make their project a reality.

The Monaco Yacht Show strives to promote a unique experience for visitors, while reinforcing a positive perception and development of the yachting industry.

An industry that also assumes its social responsibility with a proactive approach that has been committed for several years to economic, technological and environmental development to respond, to its extent, to current societal challenges.

THE ADVENTURE AREA RETURNS TO THE MYS: AN EXHIBITION OF UNIQUE NAVIGATION EXPERIENCES

The Monaco Yacht Show announces the return of the Adventure Area, a thematic exhibition dedicated to adventure, exploration and leisure at sea with a yacht.

From September 27 to 30, the Adventure Area will display a selection of around 50 superyacht tenders, luxury all-terrain vehicles, state-of-the-art water toys, high-tech devices and helicopters suitable for exploring the most remote exotic destinations on earth.

The exhibition will again extend over two sites: luxury vehicles, tenders and nautical gadgets at the Quai Antoine Ier, while the Quai Jarlan will exhibit around twenty tenders as it does every year.

With a growing demand for ever more original and personalized experiences at sea during stays aboard yachts, the creation of an extensive exhibition that presents all the activities related to adventure at sea responds to the desire of the MYS to

offer visitors all the nautical experiences available.

The Monaco Yacht Show, the highlight of the superyacht calendar, brings together yacht owners and industry experts in a global collaborative responsibility for the development of a greener industry, even though superyachts are less than 0, 3% of carbon emissions generated by all different types of ships globally.

Today, large-unit yachtsmen want to drive all-terrain vehicles to the North Pole, go on submarine excursions, explore remote islands in tenders, enjoy the Dolce Vita in the Mediterranean, take personalized tours of historic sites and cultural activities along the coast, encountering wildlife while preserving their ecosystems, or even engaging in scientific research during a yacht cruise.

With the return this year of the three themed exhibitions to the MYS, namely the Sustainability Hub, the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub and the Adventure Area, the Monaco Yacht Show continues to promote all aspects related to yachting that contribute to a yachting experience. even more exceptional. These various exhibitions offer new perspectives on super yachting, whether it’s sustainability, innovation in yacht design or adventures at sea. www.monacoyachtshow.com

CANNES YACHTING FESTIVAL 2023 REVEALED…

As has been the case every year for over 45 years, the Europe’s largest in-water show will be the first major international event of the season. Over 6 days, from 12 to 17 September, under the sunshine of the French Riviera, more than 650 boats of all sizes (from five to fifty metres) as well as the latest nautical equipment, numerous innovations and world previews will be unveiled for nearly 55,000 expected visitors:

professionals, curious on-lookers, keen boaters or experienced enthusiasts. A major new feature of the 2023 event is the creation of an area afloat in the Vieux Port, which will accommodate smaller boats, from 8 meters upwards, in response to demand from numerous exhibitors.

“Thanks to the renewed confidence of our exhibitors, this 2023 edition is looking very

good with similar forecasts to the previous year, i.e. 600 exhibitors, more than 650 boats and 140 previews,” explains Sylvie Ernoult, Director of the Yachting Festival, before adding “This new edition will highlight the small units with the creation of a brand new area, a marina in the heart of the Vieux Port, which will accommodate more than fifty small motor boats from 8 to 12 metres. As the show’s DNA is to offer the most eclectic offer possible, it seemed natural to us to host in the best way its small units, traditionally displayed ashore on the Quai Max Laubeuf, i.e. in a dedicated floating area. Once again

THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023
THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

this year, our visitors will enjoy discovering some real gems in-water and on land, boats of all sizes and types, equipped with «traditional» or carbon-free engines with the first on-board electric, hybrid or hydrogen power systems”. To conclude, Sylvie Ernoult adds: “As is the case every year, all our teams are mobilised on a daily basis to offer a memorable experience to our exhibitors and visitors”.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES FOR EACH PORT

Port Canto: a showcase for sailing, brokerage and toys

The Port Canto, located at the end of the Croisette, hosts three distinct areas:

The Sailing area installed since 2019 is the biggest global in-water showcase for new super yachts. The width of its quayside area means visitors benefit from spacious and wide aisles allowing them to enjoy their visit in comfort. This magical place offers a fine view of the 120 yachts from 10 to 26 metres on show (70 monohulls and 50 multihulls).

Also at the heart of the Sailing area, the «Start-up Village», launched in 2021, in partnership with Mer Angels and BNP Paribas Banque Privée, highlights “smart” start-ups in the marine sector offering breakthrough technologies or services with high added value while protecting the maritime area. These start-ups are creating the future of yachting: yachting that is more powerful, more responsible and more environmentally friendly.

The Yacht Brokerage area has, for 16 years, played host to the leading French and international players in the previouslyowned yachts market. For 2023, a selection of previously-owned boats from 22 metres long will be available for sale or hire.

It will be possible to meet with the crews, explore their boats and share with them the elegance of their worlds.

Positioned opposite the previously-owned yachts area since 2018 the «Toys» area takes advantage of the wide areas of this dyke to exhibit on-land an increasingly large selection of sport, fun and nautical activities equipment.

Issue 60 2023 THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023 THE ART OF LUXURY

The Vieux Port: the world of motorboats

The Vieux Port, one of the oldest on the Côte d’Azur, plays host each year to motor units presented by the world’s leading shipyards. From small boats between 5 to 15 m long, to the largest prestigious yachts exceeding 45 m, the Vieux Port focuses entirely on the motorboat industry and has an exceptional variety of products totalling more than 480 boats in water and on land.

Combining Italian dolce vita and British elegance, the Jetée will welcome the legendary international shipyards as they compete in luxury and design and unveil their latest innovations presented as world previews. Boats above 22 metres will be exhibited here.

The sea trial area (located at the back of the Jetée, outside the visitor’s route and accessible only when accompanied by an exhibitor) has been enlarged in 2022 to make sea trips easier and to safeguard the Festival by reducing maritime traffc within the port.

A true technical achievement, the Super Yachts Extension (SYE) comprises three floating barges positioned as an extension to the Jetée. Built for the Festival, this seaward extension will feature some thirty of the largest motor super yachts of over 24 metres exhibited at the Vieux Port.

On the other side of the traversante*, continuing on from the SYE, the Quai Max Laubeuf will present a number of large yachts. A marina will showcase twenty or so multihull motor catamarans including some very impressive vessels up to 24 metres long and 12 metres wide. Also to be found on this quay: more than 40 small boats from 10 m exhibited in- water and around fifty small rigid and semi-rigid units from 5 to 10 m exhibited on land. An area reserved for outboard and in-board engines will ensure better visibility and

ease of exhibition for the leading engine manufacturers presenting products for small and medium-sized boats.

The Quai Saint-Pierre will exhibit boats ranging from 10 to 23 metres. In-water will be the realm of luxury day-boats and the new generation of very impressive and highly appreciated fast and stylish motorboats. Other types of model mediumsized open boats and fly-bridge boats will also feature on this quay.

The Pantiero quay will showcase a wide range of motorboats up to 20 metres long. First along the quay will be boats from 10 to 12 metres long, followed by boats from 12 to 14 metres and then 14 to 16 metres, while boats longer than 20 metres will be on show close to the Jetée.

THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023 28 YACHTS & YACHTING
THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023
*pontoons with a motorized center section that opens to let out boats for sea trials

Installed since 2021, opposite the Pantiero and the Quai Saint-Pierre, around fifty semi-rigid 10 to 20 metre boats will be on show in the middle of the water body; there is also an area showcasing some fifteen electric and hybrid boats.

Next to this, on the same body of water, is the brand-new marina reserved for small motor boats from 8 m. Pontoons positioned at the end of the quays will allow you to take a tour of it so you don’t miss any boats!

On land the shipyards are set up along the Pantiero quays. Occupying more than 4,600 m2 in the central aisle, the nautical accessory and Equipment Village is well-known for the wide variety and international flavour of its content. In this aisle, you’ll find the ultimate in electronics, fittings, paints, etc. It’s the place to find the essential accessories to maintain your boat, maintain a good level of on-board technology, and thus futureproof your investment.

The Palais des Festivals is home to a large area dedicated to high-end yachting players: shipyards, architects and designers, interior fittings, ready-to-wear clothing, accessories, tourism institutions and marinas, service companies (financing, banks, insurance, etc.) and outside, along the large central aisle just after the main entrance to the show, is the Tender area, which houses these elegant small units used by the large moored yachts to reach land and which due to their compact size testify to the size of their yacht located offshore.

The Luxury Gallery, located in the heart of the Palais, is dedicated to luxury, craftsmanship and the art of living and each year brings together an exclusive selection of famous and more select brands presenting their new products and expertise to visitors who appreciate objects of beauty.

GREEN ROUTE: A «GREENWAY» FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER OF THE CROISETTE

Because ecological transition is essential, the Yachting Festival has created a «Green Route» for showcasing environmentally-friendly solutions developed and exhibited at the trade fair by the exhibitors to reduce the nautical industry’s environmental impact on the sea and marine ecosystems and thereby to raise awareness among visitors. Changes in demand and, above all, the importance of the arrival of these environmentally-friendly solutions in the yachting industry has led to us placing more emphasis this year on this «Green Route» and, above all, to improving its visibility so that all visitors can benefit from it.

TICKETS NOW ON SALE

There is a wide offer of e-tickets for visitors to the Yachting Festival. Tickets range from €31 for a single day, one person pass, to €1,375 for two people for 6 days with exclusive VIP services, including a courtesy car service.

IT’S ALL AROUND YOU

Welcome to Tiaré, a luxurious yet traditional Indonesian Phinisi that will take you on a journey of discovery to some of the most stunning diving spots in the world.

The Tiaré began as the dream of 5 cousins, discussed over a summer dinner party.

This dream to create a luxurious dive boat built by the master builders of South Sulawesi came together with careful design, the sturdiest and most beautiful materials sourced from sustainable sources, hightech components and safety equipment… and of course, time.

Experience diving in the rich waters of the Indonesian archipelago and meet people from the many different cultures on the diverse Indonesian islands that you would never have the opportunity to see while staying in more tourist-heavy areas.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT ON BOARD TIARÉ

Tiaré offers a spectacular experience for divers as well as non-divers, with bright airy cabins, spacious bathrooms and a large front deck where you can socialize, eat under the stars or just relax in the Indonesian sunshine. There is also a separate diving deck with hot water showers to warm up after a night dive.

All indoor and outdoor living areas, decks, and cabins are made with antique teak salvaged from old Joglos, which not only gives the feel of “real Indonesia”, but has helped to reduce the use of Indonesia’s disappearing rainforests.

LIVING AREA

Designed to be a space where you feel

totally at home with an extra touch of luxury, comfortable couches and tables are the perfect place to socialize and catch up with your fellow divers. If you need to rest, have a nap, read a book or watch a film. A bar stocked with imported wines and a selection of other drinks is a welcome treat after a day of diving and a small cigar store is available for cigar connoisseurs. As well as comfortable couches, the air-conditioned indoor lounge also has tables where dinner can be served as an alternative to the main deck depending on weather conditions and your preference. There are also PCs where you can edit photos or videos and also an indoor camera room, which has plenty of room to store your lenses, charges, lights and even your spare cameras.

Bow lounge

In addition to the indoor living area, the outdoor bow lounge is a space to enjoy and experience the freedom of being at sea. Watch the crew at work, birds flying overhead or count the millions of stars in the clear night sky from comfortable loungers and couches.

CABINS

More like a 5-star hotel than a boat, the six cabins on Tiaré are your home away from home designed with relaxation and the perfect sleep in mind. You’ll enjoy soft linens and well thought out lighting and plug placement as well as spacious ensuite bathrooms, hot water showers and environmental friendly body wash and shampoo.

Two triple cabins are spacious enough to accommodate two adults and one child or three adults, with under-bed storage to ensure ease of movement around the cabin. The other four cabins, two twin and two double, accommodate two adults each for a maximum capacity of 14 guests.

With 14 guests on board Tiaré is comfortable and spacious enough for both a social atmosphere and space to relax and enjoy down time in the luxurious cabins. www.tiarecruise.com

Tim has compiled some top tips for chartering a superyacht based off his extensive experience within the industry:

1. Decide on the destination.

The destination will determine which superyachts are available for your charter. Whilst some yachts are based along Croatia’s coastline, others are best for cruising the Caribbean. During the summer months, Greece and the Mediterranean are the most in demand charter locations, with the Caribbean islands most sought-after during the winter. From the French Riviera to the Amalfi Coast and beyond, the TJB Super Yachts team are experts in specific destinations, revisiting the hotspots every year to find new experiences and discover lesser known charter routes to offer their clients, ensuring utmost exclusivity and one of a kind adventures.

Seasoned yacht charterers often elevate their itinerary beyond yachts. TJB Super Yachts has expanded its offering to realms inland with TJB Private Travel –offering a selection of the world’s finest luxury holiday properties to create both land and sea itineraries. From private aviation to VIP restaurant and club access, TJB Super Yachts can deliver the extraordinary on land and at sea upon request. Available 24/7 whilst onboard or ashore, the team tap into a global network of trusted professionals to bring remarkable custom experiences to life.

Each superyacht is its own sanctuary on the sea, but it’s important that the yacht meets the individual desires of the guests. TJB Super Yachts have been viewed first-hand by the team so they’re familiar with the nuances of each vessel and can advise on exterior and interior specification, crew, amenities and toys.

Issue 60 2023 THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023 THE ART OF LUXURY 33 YACHTS & YACHTING
3. Dare to dream big. 2. Find a superyacht that suits the group.

4. Understand the onboard etiquette.

The crew work around the clock to ensure an unparalleled onboard experience, and arguably work harder than those of a 7 star hotel. Guests are advised to respect the team and follow the rules which are in place for their own safety – shoes off, lifejackets for children on deck, and listen to the captain and crew when given instructions!

5. Know what you are expected to tip.

It is customary to leave a cash tip with the captain at the end of the charter, which will be divided equally amongst the crew. Tips are expected to be between 10-20% of the charter value, so come prepared!

TJB Super Yachts prides itself on providing continuing world-class client service with an expanding global presence, utilising innovative technology and curating a closeknit team of industry experts.

M/Y Leona, the second hull of the flagship 80-meter Bilgin 263 series, proudly follows in the footsteps of her sistership, Tatiana, establishing herself as the newest largest private superyacht to be built in Turkey.

Meticulously constructed according to the owner’s precise specifications, M/Y Leona epitomizes a commitment to a luxurious and comfortable lifestyle. While the general arrangement closely mirrors that of Tatiana, this iteration places a greater emphasis on spaciousness, achieved through a reduction in cabin numbers, to allow for more expansive accommodations. Notably, on the lower deck, the third cabin has been masterfully transformed into a sizable owner’s dressing room, providing additional storage options.

THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

The yacht boasts ample areas for socializing, including a generously proportioned spa and an inviting beach club, all encased within a sleek, sporty exterior design reminiscent of a bullet. The interplay of white and red hues accentuates her commanding masculine aesthetic. Our collaborative efforts with the designers have culminated in a unique platform that seamlessly combines comfort and opulence, exemplified by the remarkable 2.6-meter high ceilings found on the owner’s deck.

Beyond her striking visual appeal, M/Y Leona prioritizes environmental friendliness, integrating a 100% clean air exhaust system that adheres to the rigorous standards of IMO Tier III. This remarkable superyacht can be characterized as both economically efficient and high-performing, effortlessly reaching top speeds of 19 knots while maintaining zero dynamic trim. Cruising at 12 knots, her 2,560 kW twin engines and generator consume approximately 250 liters of fuel per hour, a remarkable level of efficiency typically associated with yachts half its size.

Overall, M/Y Leona represents the epitome of a superyacht that harmoniously blends aesthetics, performance, and comfort, providing an unparalleled seafaring experience through its thoughtfully designed layout, expansive windows, private terraces, and outdoor socializing areas. We take immense pride in the outcome of this project and commend the tireless dedication of our team and collaborators in bringing this vision to fruition.

EXTERIOR DESIGN STATEMENT / UNIQUE YACHT DESIGN

The exterior design of the 80-metre yacht Leona, part of the 263 series from Bilgin Yachts, is sleek and sexy, with a dynamic hull form and a focus on eco-friendliness. The yacht, which was designed in partnership with Antalya-based Unique Yacht Design for naval architecture and exterior, has a steel-aluminum structure and weighs 1,755 groston. Her main attraction in terms of exterior design and difference compared to her sister ship Tatiana is the red and white colour combination on the hull.

In comparison to Tatiana, Leona incorporates several distinctive design elements. The main difference between Leona and her sister ship Tatiana is the red and white color combination on Leona’s hull. This unique color scheme sets Leona apart and gives her a distinct appearance compared to Tatiana. The exterior modifications, including the extended superstructure and the red and white color combination on the hull, contribute to Leona’s unique and highly personalized presence. We also opted for a fashion plate on Leona, contributing to her unique aesthetic.

In Leona, port-side VIP cabin on the lower deck, which was originally present in Tatiana, has been converted into a dressing room. Also, the number of cabins on the main deck has been altered. Tatiana features a lounge area at the entrance of the salon, in Leona, you are greeted by a dining table accompanied by an aquarium. Additionally, Leona may have different interior design elements, such as the use of golden touches on the decks, which further differentiate her from Tatiana. Last but not least, the mast design has been altered, resulting in a more masculine and sporty appearance for the yacht. On the bridge deck, we utilized carbon handrails, adding a touch of modernity and sophistication. Another notable change is the transformation of the front deck into a dedicated space where the yacht owner can enjoy quality time with their guests. This enhancement further enhances the overall experience and functionality of the yacht.

Leona’s design emphasizes comfort and avoids design cliches, resulting in a yacht that will dominate the yachting sector and set trends among steel-aluminum superyachts. The yacht features a special exhaust system that provides 100% clean air emissions, and two 2,560 kW engines that allow her to reach speeds up to 19 knots. At a cruising speed of 12 knots, the yacht has a fuel consumption of 250 l/h. The 263 series yachts are all built in

compliance with IMO Tier III certification and are considered to be the most environmentally friendly yachts in their class.

Leona’s different interior design in terms of colours and materials, features mostly golden touches on the decks. She has a contemporary layout with generous living areas as well as a huge spa and beach club in the aft which are considered as the highlights of her design. During her design process, we tried to bring a crisp and contemporary feel by using rich palette of colours. The exterior decks have a rich, warm theme that completes this design approach. Overall, the exterior design of Leona is one-of-a-kind, with a focus on performance, comfort and eco-friendliness.

INTERIOR DESIGN STATEMENT / H2 YACHT DESIGN

The second hull from the 80m 263 series is different in many ways to its previous sister ship Tatiana. Although the general arrangement is essentially identical, more emphasis is placed on room sizes with cabin numbers reduced to provide larger accommodation. On the lower deck the third cabin is given over to additional storage in the form of a large owner’s dressing room. On the main deck 4x guest cabins have been replaced with 2x generous VIP’s with his & her bathrooms and dressing rooms. The owner’s deck sees the biggest change with the superstructure extended aft providing a palatial owners suite. A private lounge is located forward with access to the owner’s private exterior pool.

The interior of Leona user a bold opulent palette incorporating a high level of intricate detailing with a heavy use of decorative finishes & interesting textures; gloss lacquers, back lit onyx, figurative timbers, gold inlays and luxurious textiles are combined throughout. The inspiration was very much client driven, influenced by his interest in travel, love of rich materials and desire for exciting features. Each interior space was designed to have a unique look & feel enhancing the on-board experience.

THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023 42 YACHTS & YACHTING
THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

Located in the heart of the interior and spanning over 3 decks, the main stair lobby houses an impressive bubble tank incorporating rgb lighting and pulsing water jets, all set within a backdrop of black marble with gold detailing, alongside backlit onyx stair treads with decorate glass balustrade.

The main saloon also adorned by an imposing feature, finds a tiger onyx through fire place divide the space between formal dining area and spacious lounge. Inspired by African animal prints, textures and patterns are seen on mirrors, mullions and textiles, all complimented by Roberto Cavalli furniture.

On lower deck the extraordinary Beach Club layout as seen on Tatiana is repeated. However the design theme this time is very different; Greek statues sit on the pool edge spraying coloured water into the blue patterned tile pool. Overhead a fibre optic ceiling decorated in a ‘night sky’ star pattern is installed in a seamless Barrisol stretch fabric. Edge lit forest scenes captured in composite marble reliefs are framed along both sides of the pool. On starboard side, amethyst stones and agates embellish the bar whist a blue and grey marble diamond pattern decorates the floor. On port a Moroccan inspired hookah room offers a connection to the sea via a fold down sea terrace door and can be separated from the interior with sliding glass doors. Furniture is richly decorated with timber carvings, gold upholstered trims and colourful sumptuous cushions.

The private top deck accommodates the owner in notable extravagance, juxtaposing contemporary and traditional architectural detailing . The central bathroom with ornate gold and blue tiles accent the lavish shower room and circular bathtub. On bulkheads mother of pearl panels are bordered by white marble and ornate leaf cornicing. In the lounge a glass cube textured ceiling is pierced by a skylight edged by a mother of pearl cornice. A two tone purple theme colours the room while rich gold trims embellish furniture and sumptuous cushions. Aft the owner’s bedroom combined black and gold finishes to produce an opulent atmospheric environment.

The platform bed with black agate bedside tables is flanked in polished black sahara marble. A cubed glass textured ceiling is again punctured by a large skylight throwing natural light over some distinctive loose furniture pieces.

In summary, every inch of the yacht has been designed to the clients exacting requirements and individual vision and boasts an array of bold selections to provide a unique and highly personalised interior.

Q&A

Could you highlight some of the differences with Tatiana?

Another notable change is the transformation of the front deck into a dedicated space where the yacht owner can enjoy quality time with their guests. This enhancement further enhances the overall experience and functionality of the yacht.

I believe one of the decks’ structures was extended – the owner’s deck? Could you confirm? Indeed, I can confirm that the owner’s deck has been modified to provide additional space and amenities for the owner’s use. This extension may

THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023 44 YACHTS & YACHTING
THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

include features like an expanded private lounge, with a smaller outdoor deck area. The most significant change is observed on the owner’s deck, where the superstructure has been extended aft to create a palatial owner’s suite. A private lounge has also been added, providing access to the owner’s private exterior pool.

Where there any other changes to the exterior? Did you develop the GA as well (as in Tatiana), or was that H2? I was responsible for developing the general arrangement (GA) of Leona.

What about hull 3, will she be a identical? The third hull of the 80m 263 series, named Project Silence, is expected to offer a larger volume compared to its predecessor, Tatiana, with a 25% increase in both interior and exterior areas. As the third hull of the 263 series, she presents several technical improvements, an optimized hull, and an increased volume. In terms of exterior modifications, it’s worth mentioning that the hull features large windows, particularly on the owner’s deck, providing ample natural light and stunning views. The wheelhouse has been designed to offer excellent visibility. Furthermore, we expanded the shaded areas on the main deck to enhance comfort. On a positive note, the third hull boasts a larger sky lounge towards the aft section, providing an expansive and inviting space for relaxation and entertainment.

With regards to the third hull, we implemented a complete overhaul of the superstructure, introducing a brand-new design. Notably, the VIP cabins and main saloon now feature full-height windows, allowing for an abundance of natural light and fostering a serene and cozy atmosphere inside. Moreover, there have been adjustments made to the cabin configuration. On the main deck, we have retained two VIP cabins, similar to Leona, while the lower deck now boasts three guest cabins, resembling a feature found in Tatiana. In summary, the superstructure

of the third hull stands out due to its larger size and distinct design, setting it apart from the previous iterations.

Moreover, an exciting feature in the gym area is the inclusion of shell doors that open, providing guests with access to terraces overlooking the sea. This innovative design element allows for a unique and immersive experience, seamlessly connecting the gym space with the surrounding natural environment.

The technical improvements include an optimized hull, a new ventilation system,

increased generator capacity, and an enhanced SCR system connected to the main engines and generators for ecofriendliness and compliance with IMO TIER III standards. Also, she has a different layout than her predecessors. Owner deck is located above the main deck for more privacy and the wheel house is on the top deck for better bridge visibility. The magnificent change is on the staircase located in the center of the hull and the large, round lift connecting the decks from bottom to top.

Visitors can rest assured that Pimalai operates a zero food waste policy, with excess organic food being used to fertilize the resort’s gardens – part of a series of “reuse, reduce and recycle” programmes. Under the “Little Scientist House” programme, which was founded by Thailand’s Princess Sirindhorn, students from local schools are invited

to learn scientific skills, and Pimalai also offers three- to six-month internships for Thai students, with the option of future employment. This community commitment is part of Pimalai’s “Our People = Our Family” philosophy, which has underpinned the resort’s operations ever since its foundation.

It is little wonder that Pimalai forms part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World’s (SLH) Considerate Collection, an exclusive portfolio of socially responsible and environmentally conscious five-star hotels.

“When our founder, Khun Anurat Tiyaphorn, discovered this enchanting plot of land in the 1990s, he immediately fell in love.

Chinese feng shui philosophy says that ‘a house leaning against the mountains and facing waters can bring good luck for people living in it,’ so Pimalai was born with the aim of preserving nature and creating benefits for the local people. We are proud to share that vision with our international clientele, who need to know that they are making a difference. At Pimalai, every guest can rest assured that they are having a positive impact on the environment and the community, while also enjoying a luxurious vacation in paradise,” said Brice Borin, Pimalai’s General Manager.

NEW OPENING: PARADISUS SALINAS LANZAROTE

The Destination Inclusive® luxury resort brand by Meliá Hotels International unveils its second property in Europe

Paradisus by Meliá, the luxury hotel brand, opens its second hotel in Spain: Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote. Designed by the renowned Spanish architect Fernando Higueras, the building is a true architectural treasure, declared an Artistic and Cultural Heritage site in Lanzarote.

Paradisus by Meliá, through its unique Destination Inclusive® experiences, takes the “all-inclusive” concept to a whole new level, immersing its guests in the destination, culture and nature.

Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote, together with Paradisus Gran Canaria, has come to truly revolutionise the Spanish hotel industry in 2023.

The new Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote features 282 rooms and villas, a 1,800 m2 swimming pool, beautiful tropical gardens designed by César Manrique and seven dining options.

With unique lunar landscapes, volcanoes, unspoiled beaches, picturesque villages and an exceptional climate, the island of Lanzarote, a Biosphere Reserve, is the perfect destination for travellers who love nature, beauty, and who want to immerse themselves in the essence of this fascinating island. Nestled in a dreamy enclave, surrounded by the beautiful beaches of Costa Teguise and charming villages steeped in culture, we find the brand new Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote.

The hotel, the second in Europe from the luxury resort brand Paradisus by Meliá, aims

to reinvent the traditional “all inclusive” concept, innovating and transforming it through new experiences linked to the destination’s nature and exploring everything it has to offer.

Under the slogan, “Embrace Your Nature”, Meliá Hotels International offers an authentic cultural immersion into each of the places where its hotels are located.

With hotels in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, the Paradisus by Meliá philosophy comes alive at Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote and Paradisus Gran Canaria, which opened in May.

Designed by Fernando Higueras and César Manrique, the building combines rationalist architecture by Higueras with murals, pool and garden design by the Canarian artist and painter.

Over 40 years ago, Higueras took over the principal building with the idea that the concrete, formwork, and geometry of the folds and their monumental emphasis blend seamlessly with the surrounding nature and environment. In turn, Manrique took charge of the hotel’s swimming pool, with a surface of 1,800m2, of the spectacular tropical gardens, home to more than 300 vegetable species, and of the frescos and sculptures that bring colour and warmth to the building and its interiors.

In 1979, the hotel was awarded the International Prize for Architecture. Today, following a complete renovation and redecoration of the spaces, Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote is a luxury 5* adults-only hotel, with direct beach access, spa, gym, meeting rooms, outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, rooms with private pools, villas, and seven different dining options.

The hotel is one of the assets that form part of the alternative investment vehicle Victoria Hotels & Resorts, a collaboration between Meliá Hotels International, Bankinter Investment and GMA.

THE BOSS FALL/WINTER 2023 CAMPAIGN DELVES DEEPER INTO THE INSPIRING STORIES THAT DEFINE A BOSS

When the galvanizing #BeYourOwnBOSS motto was first introduced during the BOSS brand refresh in 2022, the personal layers and countless stories that lie behind this idea were just beginning to surface. The origin-story follow-up then presented the slogan: ‘BOSSes aren’t born. They’re made.’

This uplifting concept delved deeper into the lives of these individuals and presented the audience the idea that grit, pain, and lessons learned are all milestones that make a BOSS. That personal journey is what embodies their strength of character, enriches their story, and humanizes them in a way that invokes respect and emboldens a broader audience. For the upcoming Fall/Winter 2023 collection and its accompanying campaign, BOSS puts the spotlight back onto a selection of top stars and influential ambassadors to explore what it is that defines them as a genuine BOSS.

Showcasing the globally familiar faces of changemakers Naomi Campbell, Maluma, Lee Minho, Gigi Hadid, Khaby Lame, and Matteo Berrettini, the Fall/ Winter campaign offers a more intimate angle on their individual stories. It also introduces American football quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and British actress, Suki Waterhouse, as new brand ambassadors. Short black-and-white videos shine a spotlight on these BOSSes sharing the inspiring stories that have defined their journey so far, and reflect on the moments that have shaped who they are today. While wearing pieces from the new BOSS collection, archival footage is projected in the background, providing an up-closeand-personal take on their climb to the top of their fields. Each intimate video features emotive background music in the form of Tupac Shakur’s iconic song ‘Changes,’ which samples the original Bruce Hornsby and the Range single, ‘The Way It Is,’ creating a synergy that pulls at the heartstrings while conjuring a universal sense of belonging.

The Fall/Winter 2023 collection delivers a blend of sophisticated textures infused with a laid-back approach, embodying the BOSS brand ethos of self-determination and distinctive tailoring. Comprising elevated styles with a retro-modern feel, it features standout colors and nature-inspired prints alongside the brand’s iconic palette of black, white, and camel.

The moving and motivational approach of the brand’s latest social-first campaign – photographed by Mikael Jansson under the creative direction of Trey Laird and his agency, Team Laird – provides a touching portrait of the featured celebrities, while remaining on course with the HUGO BOSS

Group’s aim to amplify the global appeal of its brands. In fact, over the course of September and October –to coincide with fashion month– BOSS is partnering with TikTok to provide a unique, interactive user experience in key European markets. To maximize buzz ahead of its launch in early September, specifics about the initiative are being kept under wraps, although the collaboration will generate style-related content on the platform to tap further into TikTok’s increasingly target-relevant audience – while leveraging the impact of BOSS Global Ambassador and TikTok’s largest creator, Khaby Lame.

Lastly, to cement the impact of the new campaign, large-scale outdoor advertising techniques will be deployed in a range of cities internationally, while BOSS stores worldwide will bring the key look and feel of BOSS Fall/ Winter 2023 to its window displays and interior merchandising. SIMPLICITY, HANDCRAFTSMANSHIP, AND LONGEVITY

Cambridge Satchel debuts its collaboration with British heritage outerwear manufacturer, Gloverall, known for its iconic duffle coats, and reveals a brand-new style which will be added to permanent collections.

The limited-edition collaboration is a perfect example of what happens when two British heritage brands join forces to create a collection that truly encapsulates both brand values: simplicity, handcraftsmanship, and longevity.

The Cambridge Satchel x Gloverall collaboration combines two iconic, quintessentially British pieces which form the foundations of each brand - the Satchel and the Duffle Coat. The collection expands upon these pieces to create alternative styles blending Gloverall’s handcrafted check fabrics and duffle coat toggles and Cambridge Satchel’s timeless colours and buckle closures, resulting in a unique and contemporary collection of bags.

The collaboration features six of Cambridge Satchel’s classic styles in two core colours which all have a Celtic Grain leather texture. The Navy colourway is paired with Gloverall’s charming Tan Check fabric and is made from a twisted worsted yarn, meaning that it has a strong, compact construction, giving it a truly British look. The Bay colourway is paired with a beautiful Grey Check wool fabric characterised by diagonal pattered detailing, which is inspired by 80s prints and creates a subtle melange ground with an overcheck in solid colours - a perfect match to the timeless soft brown leather. The checked fabrics are taken from Gloverall’s iconic coats and matching outerwear will be available on its website to coordinate with the corresponding bag.

To complement the fabric, The Messenger Backpack and The Messenger Bag are completed with two classic Gloverall horn toggles and loop closures combining the expertise of both iconic heritage brands.

The collection will also see the debut of The Mini Bowls Bag, which will become part of Cambridge Satchel’s permanent collections. Inspired by an antique bag which dates back to the 1930’s, this barrel-shaped bag is one of its most popular designs. The width of the bag has been reduced to give it a more compact appearance which will suit modern day life and, in this instance, is completed with the Gloverall check fabric.

Made in England from 100% leather, each style is practical in its own right, incorporating top handles, magnetic closures, cross-body straps and a solid construction, adding functionality for life on the go.

The collection will be sold at prices varying from £220 - £395 and will be available on both the Gloverall website and Cambridge Satchel’s website, as well as in all three Cambridge Satchel UK stores in Edinburgh, Cambridge, and London. www.cambridgesatchel.com

LE JARDIN DE CHAUMET

Since its creation more than two centuries ago, the Maison’s story has been written in complete harmony with nature.

The High Jewellery collection Le Jardin de Chaumet perpetuates this inspired exchange through a highly evocative and poetic promenade. Devised as four chapters, Le Jardin de Chaumet invites one to ramble through the undergrowth, walk between the flowers and out into the fields, while giving the imagination free rein to wander before bouquets from around the world.

No sooner had he established his workshop, in 1780, than Marie-Étienne Nitot started signing his letters with the words “naturalist jeweller”. An indelible aspect of the Maison’s identity ever since,

this deep and intimate connection has continued to imbue High Jewellery pieces with a unanimously acknowledged poetry. To compose this unique garden, the design studio gathered species from all over the world in a fusion of landscapes and seasons. Rich in a fascination for the faraway, the collection cultivates a creativity shaped by tireless curiosity.

Abounding in new challenges for the 12 Vendôme workshop, the sixty-eight pieces in the Le Jardin de Chaumet collection root plants within the graceful realms of High Jewellery. Exceptional stones adorn the various parures in homage to this nature,

which is as inspiring as it is a source of gems. Meticulously chosen for the emotion it expresses, each one is enhanced by the elegance of a large-facet French cut. Taking their cues from heritage styles, some diamonds feature an 8/8 cut with 17 facets, which can be considered the ancestor to the brilliant cut. In honour of these remarkable stones, the craftspeople have redoubled their inventiveness, sculpting gold into lace or graphic petals, combining the most daring settings and conceiving clasps that are as clever as they are invisible. This new testament to savoir-faire affirms a Chaumet signature: transformable pieces. Continuously created throughout the Maison’s history, these examples correspond to contemporary desires, and can be worn in a wide variety of ways. In Le Jardin de Chaumet, the pieces’ narrative expression plays with volume. With a realism taken from life, the plants exude a vibrant and majestic reading of nature. The collection’s naturalistic precision is matched only by its lightness, with pieces that look as if they are being caressed by the wind.

CHAPTER 1 - WOODS & UNDERGROWTH

The journey begins in the woods and their lush undergrowth where the humblest species, such as mistletoe and fern, rub shoulders with majestic trees. In this first chapter, the symbolism of these memory-imbued plants merges with the meticulousness of the Maison’s renowned botanical perspective.

Gui

Composed of seven pieces, the parure delicately distils the powerful symbolism of the mistletoe. A necklace formed of a

88 JEWELLERY & WATCHES THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

double ribbon interlaced with diamonds lays its leaves sprinkled with natural pearl fruits in the hollow of the neckline. The dazzling effect is heightened through the interplay of light between the stems set with brilliant-cut diamonds and the leaves covered with 8/8 diamonds. Featuring a cushion-cut Colombian emerald of 21.59 carats in an intense and silkily saturated green, the piece demonstrates a remarkable sense of purity. This extends to the finger where a transformable ring is topped with a stone of more than 10 carats, while the bud sprouting on the wrist boasts the velvety hues of a 10.53-carat cabochon. The perfection of the pairing is also illustrated in the two pendant earring proposals. A parure in keeping with the Maison’s pearl tradition, complemented by a hair ornament that can be transformed into a brooch.

Fougére

This parure’s eight pieces transport one to the undergrowth, where the slender leaves of the ferns shine in the dappled light. While the necklace becomes a plume of light, the Maison’s signature tiara skims over the hair like a bird’s wing. With a focus worthy of a botanist, the craftsmen of 12 Vendôme chased the white gold into very fine sections worked in layers. Two extraordinarily fine setting techniques combine to evoke the idea of dewdrops tipping the leaves: the illusion setting that barely raises the stones and bezel setting. While the necklace becomes a plume of light, the Maison’s signature tiara skims over the hair like a bird’s wing. Abounding in transformable pieces, the parure is aesthetically anchored in the present.

A brooch moves from the shoulder to a hair clip, while fully articulated earrings can be taken apart with removable diamonds to multiply the style possibilities. Supple rings hug the finger, including one sparkling with a 5.01-carat brilliant-cut, D-IF type IIA diamond.

Ecorce

Containing four pieces, the parure captures the essence of a precious wood with jewel- encrusted bark. In tribute to the Chaumet naturalist tradition, the fully articulated necklace shimmering with an exceptional opal had each

vein individually modelled before being set stone by stone down to the nearest millimetre. In a trompe-l’oeil recreation of marquises, the brilliant-cut stones combine with sapphires in subtly dégradé shades. Reminiscent of waterdrops dripping after a rain shower, it is crowned with a 50.61-carat black Australian opal. Its weight is as unique as its fascinating iridescences of green, blue and also red, the rarest, with the fervour of the fires heightening the emotional impact of this talismanic piece. Set in a ring with a veined shank, a 10.13-carat black opal provides a dazzling match to earrings totalling 3.65 and 3.91 carats.

89 JEWELLERY & WATCHES Issue 60 2023 THE ART OF LUXURY

CHAPTER 2 - FIELDS

Instilled with the beauty of the woods, the walker emerges to discover the special sight of fields of wheat gilded by the sun and rows of vines awaiting harvest. In this second chapter, the plants’ symbolic power dialogues with the Chaumet naturalist heritage.

Blé

The five pieces in this parure anchor one of the emblematic motifs of the Chaumet stylistic repertoire in the 21st century. Ever since the wheat ear tiaras loved by Empress Joséphine and the one hundred and fifty diamond ears produced for Empress MarieLouise, this grass has been repeatedly revisited, becoming a Maison signature.

Le Jardin de Chaumet delivers a version imbued with volume and light. Inspired by a field at the moment of full maturity, when the wheat crackles in the sun, a necklace can be worn in three different ways. A harvest of coppery yellow gold wheat ears rests on a V-shaped aigrette structure set with diamonds, including a 10.25-carat DFL type IIA emerald-cut stone. Mounted en trembleuses and articulated together, the brushed grains allude to the burning heat of summer, with a thread setting contributing to the beauty of the creation. Designed for a contemporary look, a tapering bandeau covers the hair

with a proliferation of wheat ears. Worn like a headband, it imparts a unique aura to anyone who puts it on, somewhere between a fashion statement and a commanding ornament. A pair of covering earrings respond majestically to it, rising up the ear, accentuating their modern allure with diamonds of 2.52 carats each. In a similar way, a ring that can be transformed into a solitaire sets off the finger with a sheaf of jewelled wheat surrounding a 5.05-carat Asscher-cut diamond.

Feuille de Vigne

Composed of four pieces, the parure showcases a very fine batch of Mozambique rubies.

90 JEWELLERY & WATCHES THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

Captured in all its fullness, just before the harvest, the fleshy vine glows with faceted Mozambique rubies in superb 5.18, 4.25 and 3.02-carat cushion cuts, respectively set on a short necklace, ring and earrings. To emphasise the realism of the white gold tendrils and the magnificently textured leaves, the necklace shimmers with a pavé of three hundred stones in five cuts and three different dimensions. Realised individually, before being reproduced in wax, the bezels of these diamonds, black spinels, grey spinels and rubies provide a measure of the piece’s extreme complexity. Tracing out an airy lace, the openwork on the back of the leaves testifies to the virtuosity involved. In Le Jardin de Chaumet, vine leaves are imbued with an unprecedented air of modernity, as evidenced by the pendants that can be transformed into ear motifs, the subtly asymmetrical ring, or the standout secret watch.

CHAPTER 3FLOWERS

Le Jardin de Chaumet is as enchanting as it is vast. After the fields stretching around the woods, the walker encounters the flora and its quartet of essences: pansy, tulip, iris and arum. The flowers in this third chapter give pride of place to the colour inscribed in the Maison’s stylistic vocabulary.

Pensée

The parure’s twelve pieces distil the pansy’s charm, bringing nature and couture together.

In the 1850s, Jean-Baptiste Fossin created a surprisingly realistic pansy flower tiara that illustrated the Maison’s naturalistic excellence. In 2023, Chaumet reinterprets this motif in an exquisitely poetic contemporary proposal featuring 8/8 diamonds. The setters create corollas with virtuoso dégradés, in a manner evoking a subtle tempera painting. The discreet pavé realized with tiny bead settings fades behind a gradation of blue, pink and Padparadscha sapphires. Giving an impression of supple silk-like net thanks to the use of the fil couteau technique, a necklace blooms with a pansy rendered in a vitrail setting. The voluptuous flower also unfurls on rings, including one beaming with a Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond. Pansies in yellow diamonds also appear as ear studs, and are to be found on a tiara that can turn into a brooch, like the one created by Fossin. This can be worn in two ways depending on the occasion: the tiara embellished with its flower for an official gala soirée or without for a more informal gathering in the country.

opening on a diamond ribbon necklace extending into a chain with gem-set links. Incandescent red spinels feature, as with this 10.70-carat pear igniting a spindle of leaves set with mandarin garnets and spinels. A favourite cut of Empress Joséphine who associated it with dew droplets, the pear is a Maison signature. It highlights the cobalt blue tones of Vietnamese spinels on ear motifs and a ring recalling the Turkish origin of the flower, named “tülbend”, for turban. Topped with cushion-cut spinels of 12.13 and 7.58 carats, two other rings complete this mosaic of petals in calibrated stones that also blend in with an aperture watch.

24.26-carat cushion-cut spinel adorns a transformable necklace with a crystalline pink hued bud. Like a watercolour, the pale pink spinel pavé emphasises the grace of the detachable motif that winds around a diamond rivière with the flexibility of a dancer. Accentuated by a particularly complex pairing, the intense colour of the stones that make up the parure highlights the flower’s texture and its serrated edges. The iris also appears on a watch and an asymmetrical ring set with an 8.14-carat pink spinel, creating a poetic impact through earrings adorned with stones totalling 5.10 and 5.85 carats.

Tulipe

Composed of seven pieces, the parure portrays the tulip in all its freedom of form and colour. Emblematic of the Maison’s prized creative daring, this flower blossoms in a personality-filled contemporary reinterpretation, typified by the motif

Iris

The four pieces of the parure celebrate the iris in all its volume and delicacy. Sourced from a new mine in Tanzania, a magnificent

Composed of four pieces, this parure transforms the majestic plant with a golden caress.

The virtuosity of the 12 Vendôme workshop stretches white gold into graphic linearity, a reflection of the Chaumet cultivation of the art of the line. Having become an emerald-

cut yellow sapphire weighing more than 10 carats, the calla lily’s spadix is wrapped in an entirely diamond-set white gold calyx that calls out for a glamorous evening dress. The detachable motif becomes a refined brooch that can easily be pinned to the lapel of a jacket worn by a man, while the transformable necklace can be worn in a striking and elongated “V” aigrette. Possessing the same sense of tension, earrings and an asymmetrical ring are set with yellow Ceylon sapphires, instilling in the wearer a formidable spirit of freedom.

CHAPTER 4BOUQUETS OF THE WORLD

An invitation to wander, Le Jardin de Chaumet also boasts bouquets from around the world in which agapanthus, magnolia and chrysanthemum combine. A contemporary testament to the openness to all inspirations that sets the Maison apart, this fourth chapter enriches the saunter with a gentle reverie.

navy tones across a ribbon necklace striped with diamonds and sapphires. Two rings deliver a contemporary reinterpretation of the toi et moi offering three ways of wearing, individually or together. The first is set with a 3.34-carat oval diamond, the second with a 6.01-carat oval sapphire, representing the flower’s umbel inflorescences. Stylized in the form of gold commas, its stem is set with diamonds and sapphires. This combination also graces a pair of earrings, each crowned with a sapphire of over 5 carats. A third ring, its dimensions generously covering the finger, is adorned with a magnificent emerald-cut sapphire weighing 9.35 carats.

The five pieces in this parure celebrate the African plant with a graphic design that is as modern as it is refined. Rich in colour, a very beautiful 21.26-carat oval-cut Ceylon sapphire unfolds its forget-me-not-tinted

Agapanthe

Magnolia

Comprising three pieces, the parure suggests the radiant spectacle of a burst of gold and diamonds. Faithful to the Maison’s long goldsmithing tradition, this parure writes a new chapter in this history. In taut lines, the yellow gold palmettes give rise to a spiral blooming

on a necklace whose volume is equalled only by its ease of wearing. Sparkling with marquise diamonds, a flower motif opens on a 3-carat Taille Impératrice diamond. Recently unveiled by the Maison, the extraordinary brilliance of this unique hexagonal cut can also be found on graphic earrings and a ring.

Chrysanthéme

The five pieces of this parure represent a union of cultures, between Korea, where it originated in the 15th century BCE, Persian gardens and the symbolic flower of Japan. Brightening autumn with its tones, the chrysanthemum inspires a necklace with graceful petals of sculpted pink chalcedony. The tousled flower heads are highlighted by diamonds, while a 15.71-carat cushion-cut Ceylon sapphire flaunts its beautiful blue shades of a summer night, hues recalled on a sapphire rivière lined with a second row in diamonds. The flower’s curlicues animate two rings, one featuring a blue sapphire of 12.17 carats, the second an orange-tipped, golden yellow sapphire weighing over 15 carats. Repeated in chromatic asymmetry on pendant earrings, the blue and yellow pairing which provides a beautifully contemporary interpretation of this ancestral flower today, also appears on a secret watch.

FLOURISH

Flourish depicts a shallow and clear lagoon where the sunlight flickers in the water illuminating the sparkling life of sea creatures.

The beauty of the sea paradise filled with life is expressed using coloured stones such as sapphires in various colours, morganites, and tourmalines with different shades which are meticulously set like a mosaic. Furthermore, the shorelines where sea waves break into ripples are rendered as the smooth continuous lines of pearls and diamonds.

This work-of-art like parure includes a necklace, bracelet, and earrings, and is designed to envelope the wearer in a dazzling light.

CASCADE

Cascade expresses water droplets, sparkling with light as they stream down. This season’s motif is a mesmerizing, emeraldgreen oasis which appears deep in a dense tropical rain forest.

The elegant lines of Paraiba tourmalines and the multiple layers of pearls represent the flow of water gracefully meandering and cascading down through lush greenery, evoking a breath of ancient forests. The dynamic natural beauty of flowing water is elevated and expressed in the design of the necklace and earrings, which gives a sense of depth.

decorative elements have been removed off the design of these new pieces to focus on the organic form, as inspired by the movement of water. The pieces on the Swirl collection, including a necklace, earrings and a ring, embody the beauty of the clear water with the clean sparkle of diamonds.

OCEAN LIGHT

Ocean Light is inspired by a mystical scene in which the ocean surface glimmers, reflecting a full moon in the absolute darkness of night, as the tide quietly rises.

The strands of white South Sea pearls and Akoya pearls aim to capture the movement of the rippling whitecap waves which glimmer amidst the darkness. The black South Sea pearls, the vivid yellow tourmalines and blue zircons represent the shimmering ocean surface which reflects the moonlight.

This mystical design symbolises the connection that occurs when the moon, sun, and earth are in alignment and cause the large rise and fall of the tide.

SPLENDOR

Splendor is inspired by the limitless beauty created by the wind.

The delicately swaying design expresses a gentle wind gliding over the ground, a strong wind blowing in a gust, and the dynamic and energetic beauty of birds flying along with the wind in the sky.

The sapphires in soft and pale colours are rhythmically set along the necklace and earrings, which dramatically gleam with every movement and seem to convey the sparkle of life.

AURORA

The Aurora series evokes the light continuously pouring down and softly enveloping people and nature. Much like the ocean, the aurora can show various expressions depending on the depth of the water and the light shining into it. The Aurora series is expressed through an organic line of metal encircling a pearl, with a new desing being introduced this year, which features a black South Sea pearl.

Created in a necklace, earrings and ring, this jewellery is filled with a glamour which seems to symbolize the mystical scene of light shining into the depths of the ocean.

THE EPITOME OF THE QUIET LUXURY TREND FOPE

The epitome of the Quiet Luxury trend, FOPE creates 18 carat gold jewellery that whispers, not shouts. FOPE’s Italian designed and made gold jewellery is best-known for its innovative Flex’it system, which creates flexible gold jewellery bracelets that roll onto the wrist without the need for a clasp.

These elegant bracelets may look deceptively effortless, but they are in fact the product of years of technological innovations, made with a unique

combination of cutting-edge robotic technology fused with traditional Italian goldsmithing expertise.

New for 2023, FOPE has created a series of coloured gemstone flexible gold rings called Souls. This rainbow collection of Flex’it rings, available in white, yellow, or rose gold, is set with a single precious stone. FOPE’s unique method of creating 18 carat flexible gold mesh chain means that these rings are not only comfortable to wear, but have the versatility of being able to be worn on different fingers, depending

on the wearer’s mood, or stacked together.

Whether it is to celebrate a marriage or another kind of romantic partnership, or for a best friend or parent, each precious stone within a Souls ring has a meaning which goes beyond a simple choice of colour. With pink or blue sapphires, rubies, emeralds, black diamonds or timeless white diamonds, Souls rings can be worn as a symbol of love, or stacked together to celebrate anniversaries, births, or special occasions. The Souls rings are available in five sizes for both women and men.

FOPE’s Flex’it technology also extends to necklaces. The Luna collection necklaces have a hidden clasp along the seamless round shape of the necklace, while the Solo Flex’it necklaces have a clasp that has become a design feature: a rondel set with a central diamond, on the “o” of the FOPE logo, hides a secret: a button that activates the opening mechanism.

The necklaces can be worn comfortably as chokers in a new shorter length, while standard length versions maintain a perfectly round shape that sits beautifully on the skin, thanks to the Flex’it gold mesh. The Solo necklaces and matching Flex’it bracelets are available with or without additional diamond pavé set rondels for additional sparkle.

Based in Vicenza since 1929, FOPE is available in over 50 countries worldwide.

BLACK DIAMOND, MEN’S JEWELLERY

With its black diamond and gold jewellery, FOPE addresses the dynamic man who works, travels, and goes everywhere with his usual selfconfidence. He’s a man with character who loves comfort and practicality and knows what it means to be elegant, whatever the situation. He is the living embodiment of the contemporary concept of Everyday Luxury, and rewrites his own rules day by day.

Quality and aesthetics are at the heart of the Black Diamond project, thanks to being made exclusively in Italy and the Novecento gold mesh by FOPE which was the inspiration behind the designers’ five versions. Each development followed a particular direction, in line with the same number of the brand’s bestselling collections. They are Vendôme and Panorama for the flat, more precise version, Prima and Solo for the round, slimmer version and, finally, Eka, the pioneer model of the Flex’it system.

Also available for men, people love FOPE jewellery because it is well made, because it feels wonderful next to the skin, and because wearing it is the ultimate tribute to your uniqueness.

THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND THE FLEX’IT BRACELET

Besides being a splendid item of jewellery, the Flex’it bracelet is also high-tech. The gold mesh hides dozens of tiny springs in 18-carat gold that make it extendable, a FOPE invention that dates back to the ‘50s

and that the brand patented at the start of the new century, applying it to its jewellery.

In Vicenza, where the company was established in 1929, Research and Development form the basis of its output that applies robotics to jewellery, focusing the work of its goldsmiths on precision interventions such as the clasp of the Flex’it bracelets. In this case there is no soldering, but a mechanical process is used that guarantees consummate quality and great resistance, to be worn on the wrist every day. Even next to your favourite watch.

FLEX’IT RINGS, STYLE AND COMFORT

There are those who say that rings are not for everyone: FOPE’s response are these two gold models that offer design, comfort and plenty of innovation.

FOPE men’s rings upend the usual criteria and are designed to be a precious accessory to be worn all the time and reflect a bold, switched-on male identity. The ring becomes a ritual item of jewellery, a travel companion, a tool of seduction.

The white gold and pink gold are expandable, making them wonderfully comfortable to wear, with the black diamonds - also available in princess cutsbeing the distinguishing feature of the lines in the Vendôme and Panorama collections.

For the most elegant occasions, the FOPE men’s jewellery line comprises a wide range of 18-carat gold cufflinks too, which are also available with diamonds. www.bakerbrothersdiamonds.com

BANG & OLUFSEN AND FERRARI ARE ‘DRIVEN TO PERFECTION’ WITH HELP FROM FUTUREDELUXE

B&O’s in-house creative and FutureDeluxe visually explore the alchemy when the two luxury brands fuse in a new collection of hi-octane audio products.

Bang & Olufsen has tasked its longstanding creative partner, FutureDeluxe (Cannes Lion and D&AD awarding studio best known for its experimental and innovative approaches to design, technology and moving image), with creating a campaign film that celebrates the new Ferrari collection.

The task was to create a launch film that visualises the adrenaline-packed fusion between two masters of their craft: the masters of speed, performance and headturning beauty coming together with the sound pioneers who flawlessly balance form and function of craftsmanship. The

film sees the two brands’ iconic design elements match-cut together to draw a clear parallel between them.

The result is a graceful visual narrative depicting the alchemy of the two brands built in three distinctive visual

chapters. Starting with a stroboscopic effect that uses a slow and elegant long exposure technique, as the film gradually merges with the sound design it creates anticipation alongside motion blur, visualising speed through fast cuts that offer moments of complete abstraction #BangOlufsenForFerrari

where the two brands unite. The last chapter sees the film end in liquid-like ethereal warp distortion that tantalisingly reveals glimpses of the product and its signature colour created through the Bang & Olufsen bespoke anodisation process at its factory in Struer, Denmark.

Bang & Olufsen’s CMO, Kamel Ouadi, said: “We wanted to create a memorable campaign that celebrates how both brands pursue excellence. We are both driven by perfection. Ferrari, the masters of speed, performance, and head-turning beauty; and Bang & Olufsen, the luxury sound pioneers who flawlessly balance timeless form and function. The new collection comprises luxury headphones, earphones and speakers. It encapsulates poise, power and precision that looks as good as it sounds. This collaboration and our existing Scuderia Ferrari partnership support our focus on the luxury and high net worth individuals segment.”

FutureDeluxe’s Creative Director, Ollie Harris, added: “To create a film that does justice to the pairing of two such iconic brands from two very different arenas, we had to fuse the world’s most luxurious race car credentials with the world’s most innovative audio engineering and design. The resulting film reflects the frenetic pace and exhilaration of driving the world’s most iconic sports car, but with a memorable visual language that’s more in keeping with the new collaboration’s refined product world. There’s a beautiful stroboscopic effect that sometimes occurs naturally as car wheels spin, so it felt apt to digitally create an impression of this effect by marrying instancing geometry, frame blending and motion-blur to create a fresh take on the aesthetic.”

The film and associated imagery will live across Bang & Olufsen and Ferrari’s owned and earned channels, including socials, website and point of sale.

Although this is FutureDeluxe’s debut work with Ferrari, the studio has previously collaborated with Bang & Olufsen on the brand’s Beosound Theatre launch film that explored the emotional connection between person and product through vision and sound.

CONTEMPORARY APARTMENT IN A 19TH CENTURY BUILDING PROJECT BY ALENA MAKAGON

Alena Makagon, Alexandr Ivasiv and Artem Zavarzin worked together on this interior design project in Kiev. This contemporary space was a tribute to the decorative facade of the 19th century building, as it is possible to see through the architecture and contemporary design of this unique apartment. The interior designer’s fingerprint is present in every single detail of this project, specifically in the sculptural elements that were added in the ceilings and walls. The project also reflects the perfect combination of old and new, making this a dazzling and stunning residence.

ALENA MAKAGON

The Ukrainian architecture and interior designer Alena Makagon is a renowned name in the industry, for her beautiful projects that exude luxury and refinement. She is a creative, enthusiastic, and detailoriented interior designer who is passionate about what she does. A seasoned designer with 10 years of experience designing highend residential and commercial interiors published worldwide in leading design and architecture journals. “Our idea was to keep the interior space simple in shapes and put an emphasis on classical white walls that

contrast with a modern, predominantly dark furniture and floor.” - the Designer tell us.

ENTRYWAY

When entering the apartment, we’re immediately taking aback by the beautiful turquoise metal elements all over the home’s foyer. It’s impossible to miss this mirrored section of the house, with opens up as a closet and it almost gives the sense of a ‘house within a house’. Another great thing about this private closet is what’s behind it… there is an actual private space for a dog house, with hidden ventilation in the equally turquoise pipes that climb up to the ceiling.

DINING ROOM

In the dining room area, a mid-century suspension lamp by DelightFULL, the Duke Pendant Suspension, anchors the dining table and highlights the room’s sense of modernity and usage of space. The body, made of brass, has both a matte black and a gold-plated finish, while the shades are lacquered a glossy black on the outside. Just behind the dining table, and hidden behind the tainted dark glass doors, we can see the kitchen. Standing behind the doors, they allow for it to enjoy a more private space away from the dining and living rooms. However, there’s a twist: there is actually an artificial mirror that conceals a television behind it!

MASTER BEDROOM

Going into the master bedroom, what promptly pops up are the colorful built-in closets located right in the middle of the room, thus creating two main spaces: the bed and the dressing area. A nice soft glow comes out of the hidden LED lights above the closet, which gives the room the perfect cozy ambience. Cleverly hidden on the side of the closet there’s a small area with a quaint desk that is ideal for a nice afternoon working. Above the bedside tables it’s impossible to miss the mid-century wall lamps by DelightFULL. Pastorius is a sophisticated and highly functional piece with an extendable arm can be adjusted into different positions, making it the perfect lighting design for this lovely master bedroom.

BATHROOM

The two bathrooms are covered in colors and key elements that create focal points. In one of the bathrooms there is a vanity with sleek gray cabinetry and a tall mirror that makes the space feel wider. There is a luxurious Ike Suspension Lamp by DelightFULL, which has a distinctive but easily recognizable design, ideal for every single mid-century modern interior. With its clean lines, this dazzling lamp is handmade in brass and aluminum, in black and golden finishes which completes the look and makes the bathroom feel as sophisticated as the other stunning rooms in the house. Each DelightFULL piece embraces a story and fits the sculptural elements that are present in every single detail of this project perfectly.

Entering this magnificent residence, a black and white marble corridor leads us to the central room of this interior, the living room. Giving warmth and comfort, a classic fireplace contrasts with the contemporary lines of the curvy sofa, that perfectly match Boca do Lobo’s Wave Center Table. This is an original and stylish coffee table for modern living rooms, which is developed by Portuguese jewelry artisans with handhammered brass and a black mirror top. The living room look is completed by more extravagant pieces that add a little fun to the design, such as the suspension lamp and the side table.

Moving to more private areas, such as the master bedroom and the bathroom, a royal and eclectic style is more present and it

is visible in the curtains, for example, and in the bathroom aesthetic. The Master Bedroom crosses a classic and “princess” look with a modern design with modern lines and sober colors. The bathroom is fully covered in marble and gold, elevating the space and taking it to a more luxurious level.

Other facilities will include a private residents’ bowling alley, a first for the area. Additionally, a cinema room will be the perfect space for residents to watch the latest movie or sporting events.

Luxury meets sustainability at One Thames Quay, which is the first building of its kind to feature state-of-the-art integrated energy systems that use no fossil fuels. Triple-glazed windows in every apartment furtherensure energy-efficient homes for residents to enjoy.

Perfectly positioned for residents to enjoy the hustle and bustle of London, One Thames Quay is ideally located near the iconic O2 Arena, cinema, shops, and entertainment to the East, with Greenwich and its cultural, heritage sites to the South. Canary Wharf’s brilliant transport links, with the recent addition of the Elizabeth Line, add further to the attractiveness of the area and the development’s positioning. Stations situated along the eastern end of the Elizabeth Line have seen the largest premiums in house price growth compared to the region. The UK’s largest airport, London Heathrow, can now be access in under 40 minutes from Canary Wharf, a huge attraction for professionals moving East.

“We are thrilled to present One Thames Quay, a unique development that offers an unparalleled balance of luxury living, sustainability, and green spaces in one of the most sought-after locations in London. The building is designed to offer its residents the ultimate living experience, and we’re confident that it will become one of the most prestigious and desirable addresses in the city.”

One Thames Quay also provides unparalleled travel connections, only 260 metres walk from the nearest DLR station and a short walk across the bridge to the underground from Canary Wharf and the newly opened Elizabeth Line, which has cemented Canary Wharf as the bestconnected part of the capital. London City Airport is a 10-minute taxi journey away, opening access to over 30 European destinations to frequent travellers. London boasts some of the best universities in the world with this area of London fast becoming a higher education hotspot including Greenwich University and the new UCL Campus at Stratford, which are leading their fields in a wide range of subjects from science and technology to drama and dance.

Benjamin Hobart, Head of East, City & North London New Homes at JLL comments,

“There is an incredible amount of excitement surrounding the launch of One Thames Quay, being the first tower over 40 storeys to launch in Canary Wharf since before the pandemic and set to complete within the next 18 months. The development is very well positioned, adjacent to the new and exciting Wood Wharf district. The arrival of a project designed to such a high standard, which delivers on so much of what buyers want from their homes today, including sustainability, outside space in addition to well considered and exciting amenity provision, sets the bar for what can be expected.

“Furthermore, the scheme is priced competitively adding further to its appeal. According to JLL research, the average price of new homes reserved in Canary Wharf in Q1, 2023 was 4.4% higher compared to the same period in 2022. As the popularity of E14, as a place to live continues to grow, we can expect prices to continue to rise; with this in mind, One Thames Quay presents itself as rare opportunity to prospective buyers offering good value with prices starting at £499,950.”

CELEBRATING THE ANIMAL KINGDOM

For

Summer 2023,

The new ‘Empreinte Animale’ collection pays tribute to wildlife in all its splendour. It invites us to dive into a dreamlike jungle where feathers, fur and scale are tamed in crystal. With a realism that is true to life, the know-how of the masters of fire, Lalique artisans at the Alsace workshops, offer a perfect replica of the animal materials –scales, feathers and skins. Impressive and sculptural with meticulous attention to

detail – each piece in the collection saluting the art of crystal haute couture, unique to Lalique.

The contrasting Zebra motif celebrates the natural geometry of this iconic symbol of the Savanna. The clear satin-finished and re-polished versions offer plenty of scope for interpretation. The captivating black and white stripes on the crystal create a hypnotic visual effect. Highly realistic, they run through the anatomy of the vase, the shape of which is inspired by the curves of the animal, combined with detailed enamelling work which is highly technical.

Impressive and sculptural, the Crocodile motif captures all the graphic power of this fearsome animal. The meticulous detail of the scales and the crystal relief are a real technical achievement, giving it a striking realism. Bold and intriguing, the crystal skin is an irresistible invitation to touch.

WILDKITCHENS AN ALL-YEAR ROUND OUTDOOR COOKING AND DINING CONCEPT

With summer beginning to fade many of us are packing away the outdoor furniture and cooking equipment until next year.

However autumn is when the WildKitchen – an alfresco lifestyle concept created by Guy Ritchie’s Cashmere Caveman Company – really comes into its own. The WildKitchen with its clever heat source and fully retractable canvas tent enables friends and family to enjoy luxury outdoor cooking and socialising into the colder months and throughout the year.

THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023
THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

First featured in Ritchie’s 2019 film The Gentleman and since gaining a high-profile following (David Beckham and Henry Cavill are fans), the WildKitchen is a fusion of two concepts, the WildTable and the WildTent. A revolution in the outdoor-living experience, the WildKitchen enables groups to enjoy outdoor dining all year round, cooking over natural flames on the unique WildTable within the world’s first, fully retractable canvas and hardwood WildTent.

The first version of the WildTable was initially developed to help keep friends and family warm. Since then, four sizes of the WildTable have been created which can accommodate between 4 to 12 people. This unique outdoor cooking unit is also a centrepiece for guests to sit around without smoke blowing in their faces. The WildTable offers a variety of cooking methods, including steaming, baking, grilling, frying, smoking, slow roasting, and even boiling, all on one artisanal unit. This versatility allows you to cook a wide range of dishes, from delicate steamed fish to slow-roasted meats.

The second component, the WildTent was added to protect against the unpredictable UK weather. Whilst most outdoor kitchens are either covered or uncovered, the WildKitchen provides an enjoyable dining experience whatever the weather. The tent gives guests complete control of their own environment. The whole structure is surrounded by a fully retractable canvas roof and walls; by simply lowering the ropes and dropping the canvas sidewalls and roof, diners are protected from the elements.

Guy Ritchie explains: “You want the benefit of the indoors and the outdoors, so we made the WildKitchen completely retractable. If you want to furl everything up you are completely outdoors within minutes, if the wind or rain starts to hit, you just drop the roof and you are completely protected from the elements. And when the evenings get cooler the table keeps you warm.”

Central to the WildKitchen is the largest of the WildTables, the 12-seater, which has a copper covered tabletop that surrounds two connected fireboxes generating heat and light with no smoke. All the smoke is cleverly whisked away through the flue, keeping the guests clear-eyed and odour-free. One firebox can constantly produce cooking embers, ensuring that you never need to stop cooking to reload charcoal. The central location of the firebox creates a focus so everyone at the table feels involved in the cooking, while also providing a heat source for guests in colder weather. All the tools are fitted above on the Halo, enabling hosts to stay with their guests and entertain whilst cooking.

With the WildKitchen lovers of outdoor cooking and entertaining can enjoy the alfresco lifestyle all year round, from long summer lunches in the shade and suppers under the stars through to cosy autumnal feasts or even dinner on a frosty Christmas day.

THE MINIMALIST POETRY OF TOAN NGUYEN AND THE EXQUISITE CRAFTSMANSHIP OF DISTRICT EIGHT: A CONVERSATION BETWEEN HERITAGE AND INTERNATIONALITY

The Stilt collection is an harmonious synthesis of tradition and modernity, functionality and aesthetics. Joss, a tribute to the ancestral forms of Asian architecture.

District Eight is a furniture and design object brand based in Ho Chi Minh City. It is named after the famous Saigon district, a true crossroads of past and present, rich in influences from different cultures and countries, including Chinese, Vietnamese, and European heritage.

District Eight is the most appreciated Vietnamese brand of international design enthusiasts, brought to the forefront thanks to authoritative collaborations that have accompanied the production since its origins.

Since its inception, founder Darren Chew has been able to skillfully blend Vietnamese art and craft traditions with international formal influences, creating collections with essential and minimalist lines, skillfully executed by local masters, while maintaining a strong focus on sought-after and natural materials such as solid timber from sustainable responsible sources, metal, leather, and stone.

Toan Nguyen’s two collections for District Eight, Stilt and Joss, although with distinctive formal solutions, reflect the designer’s poetic sensitivity and multidisciplinary approach, which embraces the company’s productive values in their aesthetic vocabulary.

The Stilt Collection: Toan Nguyen’s formal minimalism and Vietnamese heritage

Toan Nguyen’s innovative and surprising design, French, with Vietnamese origins, is embodied in his latest collection for District Eight: the Stilt collection, a harmonious synthesis of tradition and modernity, functionality and aesthetics, with attention paid to the environment and product quality. The collection reflects the designer’s multidisciplinary approach and poetic sensitivity, which manages to unite technology and craftsmanship in a virtuous dialogue between man and nature.

Nguyen uses oak wood for a structural solution that pays homage to typical Vietnamese stilt houses, then combines it with steel, giving the collection a unique cultural identity.

“The metal completes the construction, playing an essential role in stabilizing the structure while lightening the silhouette,” says Toan Nguyen. “As much as the wood is generous and round, so the metal is its exact opposite.”

The Stilt collection includes a sofa module, an armchair with a footrest, a chaise lounge, a series of tables, and a bed. The structure of the sofa and armchair features cushions that delicately rest on a curved wooden base covered in handcrafted leather or fabric. The chaise lounge draws on the construction know-how of the seats, reworked with a new modifiable comfort through the movement of the rocking element and welcoming base support.

The Stilt table series is available in different configurations, high and low versions, with

tabletops of various sizes - round, square, or rectangular - providing greater versatility and functionality.

The Stilt bed, entirely upholstered in handcrafted fabric or leather, is characterized by a sinuous and thin line that expresses its warm and welcoming nature. The tailoring of the finishes emerges in the structural and decorative steel elements, which give the bed an elegant and refined look on all four sides, making it the absolute centerpiece of the bedroom, even in the middle of the room.

FERRARI TAILOR MADE

812 COMPETIZIONE

A FERRARI WITH A UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE TO BE AUCTIONED FOR CHARITY

At an exclusive event held at Casa Ferrari during Monterey Car Week and broadcast via live streaming, the Maranello-based company unveiled a one-of-a-kind Ferrari 812 Competizione. Without precedent, this Tailor Made car was inspired by the concept of a blank sheet, which is how the Ferrari Styling Centre starts its creative research for every new model.

The car the Tailor Made concept is applied to is one of just 999 Ferrari 812 Competiziones, a limited and extremely exclusive series intended for collectors and enthusiasts of the world’s most exciting twelve-cylinder. It is distinguished by a commemorative plaque affixed to the interior as a testament to its original inspiration.

The Tailor Made 812 Competizione presented today was commissioned by

Ferrari North America and will be auctioned at the Ferrari Gala to be held in New York City on October 17 at the culmination of an exclusive event aimed at celebrating the Maranello-based company’s unique community and passion for the brand. All proceeds will be donated to charity as part of the education support projects that have been the focal point of the Prancing Horse’s charitable activities.

The process of developing the craftsmanship techniques used to create such original and creative patterns took over a year of close collaboration between the Styling Centre and the Tailor Made team, which handles the most innovative personalisation projects at Ferrari. The main challenge was to seek the perfect balance between flawless technical realization and maintaining the creative spark and artistic craftsmanship that flow

from Ferrari Chief Design Officer, Flavio Manzoni’s drawings, which provided the inspiration for this model with its unique details.

The car, in fact, has been imagined as one of the now iconic yellow cards on which Maranello designers transfer their first ideas, insights and notes from mind to paper and on which - iteration after iteration, detail after detail, idea after ideanew concepts, unique stylistic features and shapes are composed that will become part of the history of Italian automotive design.

On the car, in matte Giallo Tristrato, the lines composed by the designer who imagined the elegant and sporty forms of the 812 Competizione and its most iconic details have been traced in matte Nero DS Sketch. Notable among them are the carbon fibre blade that cuts across the horizontal plane of the front bonnet acting as an air intake for the engine, the characteristic louvres on the side - a tribute to the best twelve-cylinder Ferrari tradition - as well as the vortex generators on the rear screen devoid of glass, replaced by a concealed rear-view camera.

The same concept is echoed in the interior. The new-generation Alcantara® that covers the cockpit of this 812 Competizione, composed of 65 percent recycled polyester and presented as a world premiere on Ferrari Purosangue, is embellished with design sketches that have been embroidered directly onto it using a highly innovative technique. This is a truly unique solution, as Ferrari usually employs leather for this kind of custom motif.

Issue 60 2023 THE ART OF LUXURY

Innovative technological concepts have enabled it to reach new performance heights, making the model ideal for the unlimited wealth of combinations and possibilities offered by the Ferrari Tailor Made program.

On the 812 Competizione, the driver, both on the road and on the track, becomes one with the car, which guarantees immediate responsiveness to the controls and total control even in the most complex manoeuvres. Driving thrills are always at the highest level thanks to the contribution of the independent four-wheel steering system, which gives it agility and cornering precision, and the most exciting 830-hp V12 on the world automotive scene. The engine pairs impressive power with exhilarating delivery and the sound that Maranello’s 12-cylinder purists know so well.

Completing the elegant interior trim is the black trilobal Superfabric® used for the carpet and rear wall of the passenger compartment. THE EVOLUTION OF ANDREW SHERIDAN

Even by his own admission, Andrew Sheridan’s food has evolved.

He’s a chef who, after two decades in the industry, has hit his stride.

Taking unnecessary elements off the plate, allowing the best ingredients speak for themselves has become his modus operandi. Many of his dishes now feature just three or four elements – a far cry from some of the kitchens where he trained when dishes featured 10, 12 or more elements.

And it is with this confident, refined food, Sheridan has launched 8 By Andrew Sheridan in Liverpool.

He’d already won plaudits for About 8 in Birmingham – including three AA-Rosettes and acclaim from some of the country’s most revered food critics. The Times writer Marina O’Loughlin praised ‘the restaurant where every dish is a jaw-dropper’.

However, the opportunity to take the concept to his home city of Liverpool was just too irresistible, not to mention the rising rents and rates which had been starting to make Birmingham prohibitively expensive.

“People talk about it being a chance for me to ‘go home’ but I ‘go home’ every weekend,” says Sheridan, who had been returning to Merseyside every week, after the end of Saturday service in Birmingham, not returning until About 8 reopens on Tuesday.

“We did consider London but I’m from the north…Liverpool is so vibrant. There seem to be more pockets of food places opening up there as well.”

Having grown up in North Wales and Liverpool, the region where most of his family grew up and still lives has proved to be big draw.

And although he’s loved cooking in Birmingham, it’s a city which already boasts five Michelin stars – the most outside London - and where tasting menus are plentiful.

Alongside About 8, city dwellers can dine at Aktar Islam’s Opheem, Glynn Purnell’s namesake restaurant, and Andreas Antonia’s long-standing star-holder, Simpsons, amongst others.

THE ART OF LUXURY Issue 60 2023

Yet there are so far no restaurants holding stars in Liverpool, and the possibility of earning the city its first must be enticing for the ambitious chef. Restaurants such as Anton Piotrowksi’s Röski and The Art School have made Liverpool notable in terms of its culinary status, but none have yet achieved a star.

“Yes, I would love to give Liverpool its first star although giving our customers the very best experience is my priority,” explains Sheridan.

“I couldn’t wait to bring something different to Liverpool – 8 By Andrew Sheridan has the city’s first chef’s table.”

Diners enjoy a uniquely immersive meal, a tasting menu of flavours, bespoke drinks pairings, and nostalgic music. All diners are served at one shared sitting with a view of the kitchen very much part of the theatre. Sheridan loves cooking food evocative of his own childhood, an interpretation of roast beef featuring wagyu cooked in its own fat and served with N25 caviar expected to feature on the menu.

What’s even more appealing to Sheridan is that he got to put his own stamp on the restaurant’s interior. When he joined the Birmingham operation in 2019 – and its umbrella group Open Restaurants Group – the restaurant’s setting was already somewhat established.

So, with Liverpool’s 8 By Andrew Sheridan, he had a hands-on approach to everything from the kitchen benches and chairs to the bespoke dinnerware. The restaurant itself occupies two floors of premises next to the original Cavern Club in Cook Street. It couldn’t be in a more iconic location as far as Liverpool culture is concerned.

And while About 8 in Birmingham is no more (sister restaurant Craft which occupies the same space will remain open subject to an extensive refurbishment), Sheridan’s presence in the Second City remains through Black & Green, a fine dining

neighbourhood restaurant in the affluent suburb of Barnt Green.

Sheridan and business partner Sam Morgan, who owns Open Restaurants Group with his wife Emma, launched Black & Green in 2022 recognising the potential in the village. It was rapidly listed in the Michelin Guide, AA, and by Harden’s, praised for its relaxed atmosphere and wellexecuted dishes. Once again, diners are all served one tasting menu in a single sitting, along with intelligent bespoke drinks pairings.

So successful has the format been that the business partnership is launching a second ‘branch’ of Black & Green in Oxton, this spring.

It is expected to open shortly after the launch of 8 Liverpool, and Sheridan has been fastidious in recruiting the best staff for the venture.

The opening of a handful of new restaurants within a few months could be

the beginning of a restaurant empire; the duo is eyeing up other locations in England for the Black & Green format.

However, while success seems to be having a snowball effect for Sheridan, it’s taken almost two decades of hard work and dedication to get there.

Sheridan, now 35, arrived in Birmingham after a stint as head chef at The Stargazy Inn in Cornwall, recruited by businessman Morgan to lead a flagship operation in the Second City. Before then he’d worked at establishments in Wales, including Sosban in Llanelli where his individual style really began to evolve. He appeared on BBC Two’s Great British Menu, representing Wales, and

winning the Welsh heat of series 14, taking on Michelin star chef Phil Howard. His ‘maverick’ style was championed by judges.

His early days in hospitality were spent working under Stuart Collins (of Docket 33 in Whitchurch, Shropshire) at Michael Caines’ ABode in Chester. And although he credits Collins for teaching him a great deal, Sheridan is a chef very much looking forward rather than being defined by his past.

“I am not someone who constantly wants to be associated with who I have worked with in the past, I want to always look forward.”

And what a bright future lies ahead…

THE FIRST RESTAURANT BY BREITLING IN EUROPE –BREITLING KITCHEN GENEVA –HAS OPENED

The first floor has an open design with a bar and benches, with private booths available on the second floor. Both levels feature exposed brick walls and ceiling-high studio windows in the brand’s characteristic industrial style – a subtle reference to the design of our watch boutique. On sunny days, guests can enjoy the first-class location of the restaurant on the comfortable terrace.

The brand’s newest restaurant is located next to the Breitling Boutique on the chic waterside promenade Quai de Bergues in Geneva.

The Breitling Kitchen Geneva offers a regional menu inspired by street food in collaboration with the renowned FrenchColombian star chef Juan Arbeláez. The restaurant is run by Nicolas Faure, a graduate from the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and restaurateur and owner of three establishments in Geneva. It is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

By virtue of the Latin American roots of star chef Arbeláez, the menu includes a selection of authentic Mexican taco dishes as well as lobster roll, the Breitling burger, vitello tonnato, an incredible cookie, and much, much more. The focus on regional and responsible sourcing also results in some unexpected flavor experiences, such as the Guacalogico that is not to be missed. This is a derivative of guacamole where the avocado is replaced by local broccoli. The Superocean Salad (named after the brand’s popular dive watch) contains organic vegetables and sustainably caught fish. Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, the restaurant is open all-day. And for those in a rush, there are also coffee and snacks to go.

The drinks menu makes this establishment a meeting place for after-work aperitifs. The unique cocktails have been created specially with the cuisine in mind, alluding

to Breitling’s watch categories of air, land, and water. For example, this includes the creative drink Breeze – a vodka cocktail with hibiscus and pineapple essence, as well as the Cloud cocktail based on cachaça with lemongrass, kiwi and a Thai basil emulsion.

We look forward to your visit!

Elsewhere, those searching for a stimulating aperitif need to look no further than the “Garden Breeze” to satiate themselves with a spicy, whisky-based cocktail complemented by The Botanicum’s sage, pine honey cordial and a lime and lemon balm. Guests can also enjoy The Chedi Andermatt’s home-grown produce in The Restaurant, recipient of 14 GaultMillau points, where Chef Kypke has devised a dish of Swiss trout tartare and caviar with a vinaigrette of herbs and Berne rose tomatoes.

Situated next to The Bar and Living Room, a plush space ideal for relaxing after a day in the mountains, The Botanicum is home to yarrow, borage, southernwood and green santolina and nine species of mint, among other herbs.

FRAGRANCE DU BOIS TURNS THE PAGE WITH ITS FOR LOVERS COLLECTION STORY

or

Telling an unfolding love story with fragrance, from the dizzying woody flirtation of Cavort at first meet to the sweetly irresistible clandestine affairs of Secret Tryst and arriving finally in the passionate and joyous throws of our latest release, Lovers. Lovers is a perfume built on the sweetness of true love, an aphrodisiac coupling of fruits, spices, and floral woods.

A luscious burst from the aptly named passionfruit combines with plum and fiery ginger, settling into a heady haze of jasmine with an intimate kiss of saffron. The comforting warmth of an entangled embrace emulates from the base of cashmere woods, grounded in vetiver and creamy sandalwood.

Lovers takes inspiration from “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love,” a poem by Christopher Marlowe. It begins with a lively burst of Passion Fruit, while the heart note features Bulgarian Roses and Jasmine, reminiscent of the line “And I will make thee beds of Roses, And a thousand fragrant posies” from the poem. The scent rests with a woody, earthy dry down of Cedar, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Cashmere Wood, and Patchouli, evoking the poem’s opening line, “Come live with me, and be my love, And we will all the pleasures prove, That hills and valleys, dales and fields, Woods.”

The For Lovers Collection has been incredibly popular with a story everyone can relate to; after all, everybody loves somebody.

The recent release of “Lovers” completely sold out within five days and has helped Fragrance Du Bois drive global sales and demand, with a waiting list already in place for the next production.

CLINIQUE’S ALMOST LIPSTICK: THE MODERN COLOUR ALTERNATIVE BLACK HONEY

At the moment, when anything and everything is described as modern, here is something that truly fits the description -- Clinique’s Almost Lipstick, a new nonstop colour source that’s in a class by itself.

WHAT DEFINES ALMOST LIPSTICK’S

MODERN CHARACTER?

The different option it offers. Not quite lipstick, not quite gloss, but the best of both. Almost Lipstick is a rich, high-power glaze. The colour is sheer, but unmistakably there. It’s a difference that’s noticed.

The versatility. Almost Lipstick goes on alone or over lip pencil for an easygoing, natural look. but the real impact -- the way it works over any lipstick adding special effects all its own.

The portability. The sleek, narrow, silvery tube that houses Almost Lipstick is a newlook Clinique case -- easy to use, easy to carry...even (especially!) in multiple.

The adaptability. Almost Lipstick acts as an instant colour corrector. It revs up quiet, low-key shades. It calms down those that are a bit too intense. It makes lipstick mistakes a thing of the past.

The treatment factor. Almost Lipstick is on-contact soothing, comforting as salve thanks to an emollient formula that colours with kindness and works to keep chapped/ parched tendencies in check.

Black Honey: The updated version of a Clinique classic. The colour-deep, intriguing, strong-yet-sweet. A star in its own right, Black Honey becomes an exciting look-maker with a variety of shades. Think of it as the other-more uninhibited--side of neutral.

And Almost Lipstick is a true Clinique performer -- with its high-level emolliency that keeps lips feeling as good as they look.

SUSAN HEPBURN

75 HARLEY STREET, LONDON W1G 8QL

Georgia Keating, a 23-year old woman

London, has finally managed to overcome her severe eating disorder and reach her ‘perfect size’ through celebrity Hypnotherapist Susan Hepburn’s “Hypnodiet.”

Georgia, who was once anorexic as a teen, had ballooned to a size 22 after suffering from chronic depression and severe binge eating. Struggling with exhaustion, suicidal thoughts and strained family relationships, all linked to her obesity, Georgia decided to make a dramatic change to her diet in 2016.

Georgia sought the help of A-lister hypnotherapist Susan Hepburn who was able to stop her binge eating in three sessions of hypnotherapy, leading Georgia to lose a whopping 9 stone (57kgs) in less than 6 months.

Georgia recalls, “I have always struggled with my weight. As a child I comfort ate. I cannot remember a time that I haven’t hated the way I look. After 12 months of struggling with binge eating and suicidal thoughts, I finally decided I was done being sad and fat. This is when I reached out to Susan Hepburn to seek the help I so desperately needed. I lost the weight and I was happy again, confident even.”

Susan Hepburn’s Hypnodiet is designed for everyone struggling with ,losing weight and those who have failed with diet plans but still want to make changes for their health. Hepburn says, “With my Hypnodiet, there is no calorie counting, no forbidden foods, no faddy menus or deprivation. Instead, using simple hypnotherapy exercises, I teach clients how to reprogram their mind with a healthy approach to eating. Nobody is born pre-destined to have a weight issue, so I simply change their mindset…

Nothing drastic, just eating smaller portions and being mindful of eating slowly and cleaner lighter foods and understanding just how bad refined sugars and processed foods are for the body.”

Nowa few years on, having maintained a healthy weight, Georgia is running a campaign to highlight how hypnotherapy can revolutionise the lives of others suffering from eating issues.

SCOTTISH VISUAL ARTIST CRAIG BLACK IS RIGHT ON THE BALL WITH HIS TRIBUTE TO THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

It’s the ball that scores the goal of universal dreams. The ball that everyone remembers. The ball that glints orange, white and blue as it slips past outstretched hands into the roar of glory.

It is the ball that Scottish international artist Craig Black unveiled in August in his own unique tribute to the Champions League, the world’s greatest club competition and a contest with a special place in fans’ hearts.

In a personal contribution to the game, Greenock-based Craig, who has won international fame for his bespoke artwork, live performance art and his signature Acrylic Fusion technique, has created the Champions League Inspired Fusion Football.

Mirroring the constellation of stellar global players who make the League magic, the new ball’s white stars are held in a sky of swirling, mesmerising blues bound in lines of sunrise orange.

Craig, who in an earlier life played professional football himself, said: remember seeing Champions League games at Hampden Park in Glasgow and revelling in the unbelievable atmosphere.

“Watching Zinedine Zidane volley the ball into the top corner – the arc of its flight, the power and the accuracy – is etched into my memory and I wanted to create a football
