CHAMELEON L391

TIKKURILA COLOUR OF THE YEAR 2026

A rich ochre with natural warmth, it creates interiors that feel both grounded and dynamic. Inspired by golden light and sunlit horizons, it brings confidence and vitality into the home. Chameleon L391 proves that colour can be bold, expressive, and enduring all at once.

STYLE IT YOUR WAY

Chameleon L391 is perfect for spaces that need an injection of warmth and vitality. In northfacing rooms, where cooler light can make spaces feel flat, its golden undertones add depth and comfort.

It also works beautifully in home offices or creative spaces, where a touch of energy helps to inspire focus.

In social areas such as kitchens and open-plan living rooms, the shade becomes a bold focal point that feels welcoming and full of character.

KEY 2026 INTERIOR TRENDS

Chameleon L391 also anchors Tikkurila’s 2026 trends palettes — Authentic, Visionary, and Expressive. Together, these palettes explore how colour can create grounded, forward-looking, or boldly creative spaces, giving designers a versatile toolkit for every project.

EXPRESSIVE

Expressive is about confidence and creativity, with bold, playful contrasts that spark joy. Designed for social and creative spaces, it brings energy and character into the home.

VISIONARY

Visionary explores depth and atmosphere through rich, shadowy shades. This palette brings refinement and intensity, perfect for interiors that feel dramatic yet serene.

AUTHENTIC

The Authentic palette celebrates calm and connection, using muted tones that harmonise with natural materials. It’s a grounded approach to colour that creates timeless, welcoming spaces.

MODERN HERITAGELIVING DESIGN WITH WOODBENDER

“Modernheritageisadialogue betweenpastandpresent, tradition and innovation. At Woodbender, thisdialoguetakes shapeinsteam-bentfurniture thatdefinesaroom, creating spaceswherelegacyisfeltand modernlivingflowswithease.”

Rooted in Place, Resonating Globally

From the vineyards of Stellenbosch to the shores of Lake Windermere, Woodbender’s iconic pieces have become part of the atmosphere in spaces where people gather, connect, and celebrate. At Stellenbosch Reserve, the sculptural curves of the Riga Chair echo the region’s winemaking heritage, inviting guests to slow down and savour the moment. At Rum Nicky, the breakfast kitchen and dining space at Craig Manor in the Lake District, the Kariba Chair complements a warm, contemporary interior designed for hospitality and connection. These installations are expressions of a larger ethos — one that shapes every Woodbender piece, wherever it finds its home.

The Art of Steam Bending

At the heart of Woodbender lies a commitment to craftsmanship that transcends trends. Every piece

begins with a deep respect for timber — its character, grain, and history — and nearly four decades of mastery in techniques that honour tradition while embracing innovation. Our signature steam bending process transforms solid timber into flowing, sculptural forms without compromising strength. The result is furniture that is both precise and expressive — the work of skilled hands, thoughtful design, and a quiet celebration of living with care, style, and connection, bringing modern heritage to life.

Heritage, Reimagined Digitally Woodbender’s timeless craftsmanship is supported by digital innovation. Our 3D configurator enables customisation, while AR brings designs to life in their spaces. Together, these tools make the design process more personal, precise, and connected — uniting tradition with possibility.

A New Expression of Heritage

To own a Woodbender piece is to step into a story where tradition is honoured yet reimagined, where beauty is purposeful, and where legacy lives on through form and function. Modern heritage is not nostalgia—it is evolution. For Woodbender, this means creating furniture rooted in its origins yet open to the future: pieces of timeless elegance, as natural in a fine-dining restaurant in London as they are in a vineyard in the Cape Winelands.

“Woodbenderisnotmerely makingfurniture;itisshaping anewvisionofheritage—one wherecraft,beauty,andpurpose existinlastingharmony.“

EYES WIDE OPEN APARTMENT

The double-decker’s eyes are large windows that offer panoramic city views. The four-person family here wanted a funky, luxuriously flavored home. The interior of the luxury sense is caused by subtle brass details. The choice of this metal was inspired by the bronze roofs visible through the windows. All-day sunbathing into the apartment allows the bronze surfaces to sound different colors and create a different mood each time. The large, black stone panels that cover the wall contrast with the brass and help it even more reveal.

And these natural materials accentuate make it possible to neutralize the combination of concrete ceilings and light, almost white, wood flooring. The interior is engraved with one more color - a solid blue. This colorful velvet sofa is inviting in the living room, and blue in the bathroom, in the bedroom, in the details. The attic in the house is accompanied by white, elegant stairs.

To prevent the site from changing, the edge of its overlay is completed with a sloping edge - thus it more easily fits into the space. In the high-rise, the parent’s bedroom overlooks the city with windows overlooking to the city. Underneath the dining table, elegant, openwork thin-wall luminaires were chosen specially to avoid falling out of this view. The brass luminaire is lighted by the ceiling and the motifs of its shape are reciprocated in the glass partition of the shower next to it. From the bedroom you can access the terrace, which has a small sauna, jacuzzi.

Another terrace is also on the ground floor - where the family can enjoy the pleasures of outdoor cuisine. All apartment furniture and interior fittings are designed specifically for this home. It was not so simple to create such an interior: “Every architectural solution has created a new challenge, because everything was non-standard.” All the challenges have been cured and now in the eyes of the widespread open mind, the interior is full of harmony.

SINTERED STONE KITCHENS: A BALANCE OF BEAUTY AND FUNCTIONALITY

Sintered stone is redefining modern kitchen design, seamlessly merging aesthetics with performance.

Its dense, non-porous structure resists water, stains, and heat, ensuring hygienic and easy-to-maintain surfaces that retain their refined look over time. Yet, beyond its technical advantages, sintered stone has become a true design statement – a symbol of modern elegance and understated luxury.

Today’s interiors gravitate toward natural textures and a sense of calm minimalism. Designers seek materials that embody purity, durability, and authenticity – qualities inherent to sintered stone. Its seamless aesthetics allow for large, continuous surfaces without visible joints, creating a sense of visual unity. The result is a kitchen space that feels sculptural and refined, where every line is deliberate, and every surface flows effortlessly into the next.

The material’s tactile texture and natural hues bring warmth and sophistication to contemporary interiors. Neutral shades of beige, sand, stone grey, and earthy browns echo the tones of nature – timeless and versatile. These muted palettes, complemented by soft matte finishes, make sintered stone a perfect fit for modern spaces that value tranquillity, simplicity, and balance.

This vision comes to life in a kitchen fully clad in MDi Inalco Petra Crema abujardado – from flooring and walls to shelving and decorative milled panels. The subtle cream tone and textured finish recreate the look of natural stone, enhancing both the aesthetic and sensory experience. The countertop, featuring an integrated stone sink, embodies seamless functionality, while aluminum fronts filled with sintered stone highlight precision and modern craftsmanship.

At the center stands an island in MDi Inalco Umbra Marron abujardado, a darker, richer tone that grounds the composition. Within it lies an innovative detail – an integrated induction hob that allows cooking directly on the stone surface. This fusion of advanced technology and design sophistication defines the kitchen as not just a workspace, but an architectural statement – minimal, elegant, and enduring.

Sintered stone captures the essence of contemporary design: natural beauty refined through innovation. It is the material of choice for those who seek a kitchen that is not only functional, but also timeless, sculptural, and distinctly modern.

VIYAR FURNITURE perfectly combines aesthetic elegance with practical functionality in all its projects. Using advanced technology and premium materials, the company creates kitchens known for their durability, sophistication, and timeless design. Each element reflects a harmonious balance of beauty and functionality, bringing comfort and style to every home.

LIGHT 25 EXPANDS WITH NEW TECHNICAL ZONE, ASSOCIATIONS LOUNGE AND IMMERSIVE LIGHT ART INSTALLATION

LiGHT 25, the UK’s only trade show dedicated exclusively to high-end lighting specification, will return to the Business Design Centre, Islington, London, on 19–20 November 2025.

Following the success of LiGHT 24, which welcomed over 5,500 visitors, this year’s edition will feature an expanded programme of innovation, education, and networking opportunities. Key highlights for 2025 include the

introduction of the Technical Zone, the return of the Associations Lounge, and a new large-scale immersive light art installation.

Launched for the first time at LiGHT 25, the Technical Zone will provide a dedicated showcase for brands at the forefront of urban lighting, commercial lighting, control systems, components and OEM, lamps and gear, and emergency lighting. With advanced controls, emergency systems, and components playing an increasingly important role in sustainable and

human-centric design, the Technical Zone offers both exhibitors and visitors a vital platform to exchange expertise and explore the latest developments.

Supported by Studio Due, the Associations Lounge will once again act as a shared hub for leading industry bodies, including the LIA, ILP, SLL and the IALD. Located on the Gallery Level, the lounge will provide visitors and exhibitors with a comfortable environment away from the show floor, complete with complimentary refreshments,

networking events, and a dedicated talks programme. It also offers the opportunity to learn more about association initiatives and membership.

Central to the educational element of the show programme is the CPD-accredited [d]arc thoughts talks series in collaboration with Lutron. Curated and moderated by editors of arc and [d]arc magazines alongside guest moderators, the two-day talks programme will bring together global experts to address themes ranging from sustainability and circularity to wellness, health, and the business of design. Topics are set to include dark skies, inclusive design, multi-sensory environments, data transparency, colour, health and wellbeing. Whether you’re interested in sustainability, technical innovation or the human experience of light, the programme aims to inspire fresh thinking, professional development and meaningful dialogue.

LiGHT 25 will also feature a major new light art installation. Following Frankie Boyle’s acclaimed IntraSpectrum in 2024, this year sees Speirs Major Light Architecture partner with formalighting to present Re:Vision. Exploring the theme of colour perception across species, Re:Vision uses custom spectral profiles and reimagined Ishihara colour blindness test patterns to reveal the diversity of visual experience across the natural world. The installation invites visitors to step outside their own perceptual boundaries and reconsider how lighting design can respond to a richly biodiverse and interconnected planet.

LiGHT isn’t just a trade show made up of rows of exhibitors. It’s a chance for designers, engineers, and architects to really immerse themselves in light, learn more about how light shapes the design industry, and make new connections through our varied features.

In addition to these new features, LiGHT 25 will bring together thousands of architects, interior designers, lighting designers, engineers, and specifiers, alongside hundreds of leading architectural and decorative lighting brands. Visitors can also take advantage of networking opportunities throughout the event, including

a late-night drinks party, a networking brunch, and a dedicated co-working space.

LiGHT 25 is a must-visit event for anyone involved in lighting, architecture, interior design, engineering, and beyond. From late-night drinks on the show’s opening night to a networking lunch on day two, visitors will have

valuable opportunities to network and connect with peers and industry leaders. With breakout workspaces for on-the-go creativity and productivity, LiGHT 25 offers both inspiration and practicality –the perfect mix for discovering new ideas, strengthening professional relationships, and staying at the forefront of the lighting industry.

ARIA, THE MELODY OF NATURE

Aria Collection is born from the invisible rhythms of nature, capturing forces that cannot be held but can always be felt.

Like a melody rising and falling, this collection moves with the quiet strength of wind bending leaves, like the laughter of rivers over ancient stones, the sway of wildflowers in sunlight, and the distant song of the sea. Aria captures these fleeting voices and gives them form.

“With Aria Collection, I wanted to capturethatinvisiblerhythm, the feelingofstandinginafieldand hearingtheworldbreathewith you,” says designer Daniela Ferreira.

Porcelain, introduced for the first time by Serip, brings a delicate strength and elegant smoothness, echoing the soft flow of an aria. It merges with bronze, bold and textured, grounding the composition with rhythm and depth. Glass completes the harmony with its translucent lightness, shimmering like fleeting high notes that linger in the air.

Together, these materials blend into a harmony of contrasts, fragile yet powerful, precise yet smooth. Distinct voices merge into a single chorus, flowing like music through space.

What makes Aria truly alive is its modularity, which mirrors the structure of music itself. A single piece may exist as a quiet solo, intimate and delicate, or combine with others to form compositions that unfold like sweeping crescendos. Customers can compose with Aria as musicians do with notes, layering and expanding to create harmonies that adapt to the rhythm of their spaces.

The Aria Collection is an evolving presence, one that grows and reshapes itself like a melody that unfolds over time. It moves, it evolves, it becomes.

Aria is also a reflection of the sensibility of its creator, Daniela Ferreira. She is delicacy in motion, graceful and profoundly attuned to nature. Her ability to translate the poetry of the natural world into contemporary design gives each creation their soul. “Forme, design should move like nature does,” says the designer. “Fluid, alive, and everchanging,AriaCollectionisa melody, onethatcontinuestogrow inthespacesitinhabits.”

Aria is the voice of nature translated into form, the breath of the earth given shape, the melody of life itself moving within us, through us, and beyond us.

From achieving major milestones to earning well-deserved nominations each accomplishment stands as a testament to dedication, teamwork and innovation.

The Crieff Hydro Hotel & Spa project has recently been shortlisted for two prestigious industry awards, SBID Awards for Product Design and the Brit List Awards for Best in British Product Design categories. Competing against a strong field of contenders the project stood out as a result of our bespoke Victoria pendants and wall lights.

Being recognised on this level not only affirms the quality of our work but also positions us as a benchmark for innovation within the industry.

We’re thrilled to announce an exciting milestone for our brand: our new showroom presence at The Vault in the heart of Clerkenwell. This collaborative space allows clients, designers and visitors to conveniently meet with one of our team to discuss any lighting requirements standard or bespoke.

QUINTIESSE SHOWCASE AT LIGHT25

Elstead Lighting have been manufacturing and distributing decorative lighting since 1969.

They have developed a diverse collection of North American designed product to broaden the UK portfolio, including great brands such as Hinkley, Quoizel and Kichler.

In more recent years the Elstead Lighting Group has developed the Quintiesse Collection, which is a carefully curated, premium brand that seeks to bring together unique and memorable designs from Eurofase, Alora, Arteriors and Currey & Company.

With a constant focus on quality, backed by large stock holding, Elstead supplies interior designers and decorative specifiers in more than fifty countries that require 220-240v fixtures.

Featured is the Nuvola ceiling or wall flush light designed by Eurofase. Ideal for low ceilings of wall mounted fixtures, this simple, low-profile white disc is suspended by a single arm in either a Matte

Black or Brushed Gold finish. These integrated LED models are dimmable and available in 31cm and 43cm diameters.

For domestic or commercial settings, you can create your own unique installation by hanging multiple Marni pendants. Meticulously cut-acrylic shades create glittering beams of LED illumination throughout the design. Finished in Natural Brass, the collection includes an 8 or 16 head option, a single pendant, a 6 light or single wall option as well as two portable table lamps.

For a sleek and modern interior, we feature the Blade wall light designed by Arteriors. This sconce stretches wide with two steel dowels supporting cylindrical white linen shades. The dowels are supported off an elegant central steel blade, and it is available in an Aged Bronze or Antique Brass finish. The scale of this fixture provides architectural interest

while amplifying the light in any entry hall corridor or room. The portable on the desk is the Aaron table lamp, which is part of a new collection designed by Arteriors.

Envisioned by the design team of The KariGhars, the villa is a nuanced response to its natural surroundings and to the clients’ deep affinity for nature. Rather than recreating nature through obvious tropes, the designers chose to echo its temperament: calm, harmonious, and timeless.

The home unfolds as a tactile experience, where restraint is the defining grammar. Walls, floors, and surfaces are wrapped in a gentle palette of creams, pastels, and warm beiges that allow light to wash through the interiors, creating spaces that feel effortlessly luminous. Every decision, from the inlayed marble murals to the subtle curves of furniture, reflects a design philosophy anchored in softness and emotional resonance.

Upon entry, a handcrafted feature wall sets the tone: inspired by temple ponds, the marble surface is etched with lotus motifs, further embellished with mother-of-pearl and brass inlays. This foyer moment

becomes a tactile introduction to the home’s narrative, one that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern sensibility. The story continues in the living room, where a sculpted 3D leaf installation becomes both an artwork and a texture that interacts delicately with natural light. Opposite it, a gold wing-like sculpture acts as a moment of quiet drama, evoking a sense of weightless movement within the stillness of the space.

Throughout the villa, the design team maintains a disciplined balance. Every room is allowed its hero moment, while the rest of the space recedes into a cohesive, tranquil background. In the bedrooms, this takes the form of soft-toned walls and furnishings punctuated with fresh accents of colour through bed linen or art. Even the media room, wrapped in muted tones, offers warmth and tactility through tan leather seating

that introduces visual contrast without disrupting the tonal harmony.

The outdoor spaces are treated not as extensions but as continuations of the interior language. The balcony, created as an urban oasis, houses a custom-designed bar framed in greenery, blending leisure with landscape. The garden, curated in collaboration with Your Green Canvas, is a symphony of clean lines, earthy materials, and a carefully selected plant palette. Here too, the principles of intentionality and restraint take precedence, resulting in a landscape that feels emotionally as well as visually integrated with the home.

From a planning perspective, the interiors were shaped to prioritize breathability and spatial logic. Without architectural intervention, The KariGhars reimagined the villa through clever spatial zoning and calibrated material choices. Wooden panelling at key junctures

adds depth and warmth, while the strategic use of feature walls, whether sculptural, muraled, or textural, becomes a way to introduce complexity into an otherwise minimalist shell.

Lighting, as always, plays an ambient role rather than a functional one. Pendants glow softly above surfaces, concealed lighting edges corners and niches, and gold accents appear like quiet punctuation marks throughout the house. The result is an atmosphere that’s luxuriously understated, one that celebrates peace over performance.

Materiality in Sienna Nest is as expressive as the architecture. Marble, mother-of-pearl, brass, soft leather, textured wallpapers, and warm wood form a layered palette that never veers into excess. Each material is used to support the overall emotional language of the home: one of refinement, rootedness, and quiet confidence.

Ultimately, Sienna Nest is not about trend but about temperament. It’s a home that reveals itself over time, not through visual opulence, but through thoughtful detail, proportion, and emotional clarity. In an era of overstimulated aesthetics, it is a masterclass in modern Indian design — elegant, restrained, and profoundly soulful.

THE ART OF ATMOSPHERE: THE POETIC WALLPAPER DESIGNS OF JULIA CLARE INTERIORS

From cloud-soft washes to mineral-rich patinas, Julia’s wallcoverings bring poetry to interior design.

In the world of high design, where the balance between timeless elegance and contemporary relevance is rare, Julia Clare Interiors has quietly, but confidently, carved a niche. Her wallpaper collections— equal parts art and atmosphere— invite the eye to linger and the mind to wander. These are not mere decorative surfaces; they are immersive experiences.

Founded by Scottish designer and Glasgow School of Art graduate, Julia Sagias, the studio draws deeply for inspiration, using nature and history as dual muses in the design process. Eclectic collections of celestial sky murals awash in ethereal light, pattern formed from the structural poetry of historic architecture and painterly floral compositions enrich Julia’s artistic repertoire.

The result are designs for wallpaper (and fabric) which feel deeply artistic, mood-enhancing and impeccably refined.

Revered among a discreet circle of interior designers in Glasgow and Edinburgh, like an insider’s secret, Julia’s work remains a rare and coveted discovery. What sets Julia apart is a steadfast commitment to intentional beauty and meaning. Her wallpapers, defined by modern artistry and emotional resonance, infuse their interior projects with depth and a sense of style, place and mood.

Printed in Britian on a variety of sumptuous materials such as silk, grass cloth and vinyl, the expanding possibilities for creative and tactile applications include linen and cotton velvet. Beyond wallpaper, her designs extend gracefully to cushions, throws, tapestries, lighting and framed prints, facilitating a layered and immersive design dialogue within a space.

The wallpaper collections are perfectly suited to both commercial and residential design projects and as the studio expands into

commissions, interior designers and architects collaborate directly with the studio to translate their stylistic preferences into wallpaper—a deeply intimate expression of place and identity.

At the intersection of art and design, the signature aesthetics of Julia Clare Interiors consist of the clever layering of colour, form and texture so that spaces feel tactile, transforming into moodenhancing compositions which carry atmosphere.

Julia Clare Interiors doesn’t just adorn walls; it crafts atmospheres – immersive and poetic. Her wallpapers breath life into interiors, grounding them in narrative, mood and fine art sensibility. The result? Spaces that are not just seen but felt.

FLEXPLORER 146 NASIBA DELIVERED: A PIONEERING MILESTONE IN HEALTH-CONSCIOUS DESIGN

Cantiere delle Marche and Winch Design are proud to announce the delivery of Nasiba, the third hull in the successful 44m Flexplorer 146 series.

Driven by the Owners’ deep commitment to health and wellbeing, her bespoke interior sets a new benchmark in healthconscious design and reflects the builder’s expertise in constructing highly custom long-range explorer yachts that combine unique features with capability, durability and performance.

Built at Cantiere delle Marche’s Ancona’s facility, world-renowned British studio Winch Design have meticulously considered every element and material onboard against sustainability metrics and leading global health benchmarks, taking into account such factors as whether each is natural, nontoxic, low-VOC (volatile organic

compound) and responsibly sourced. With input from EcoNest Architects, specialists in health conscious and ecological building, the result is an exceptionally high level of indoor air quality, reduced electromagnetic fields and a minimized environmental footprint.

“ThedeliveryofNasibamarks notonlyatechnicalanddesign achievementbutalsoadeeply meaningfulcollaboration.Weare incrediblygratefultotheownerfor entrustinguswithsuchavisionary brief, onethatredefinesthevery principlesofluxurythroughalens ofwellbeingandsustainability,” says Vasco Buonpensiere, cofounder and CEO of CdM. “Together withtheexceptionalteamat WinchDesign,we’vedelivereda yachtthatisaspioneeringinspirit asitisindesign.”

The onboard layout has been developed for a health focused family-oriented lifestyle, with dedicated learning and play areas, wellness facilities, and personalized spaces. The interior has been influenced by the Wabi Sabi design philosophy and embraces elements of earthy tones, organic textures and raw surfaces - keeping mother nature and biophilic principles at the heart of the design,

strengthening the connection between the onboard environment and the natural world.

Features such as living plant elements, tactile natural materials, and soft, ambient lighting have been carefully chosen to support the body’s natural circadian rhythms and to contribute to a restorative atmosphere. An infrared sauna was positioned off the Owners’ bathroom to be used in combination with the foredeck ice plunge pool forward of the Owners’ cabin, to facilitate wellbeing, recovery and muscle repair.

“Innovationandindustrychange areacceleratedwhendesign briefssuchasthisarepresented –byclientswhowouldliketo seethedesigntaskapproached differently, andinthiscase, with averyconscioushuman-centered focus, a care for the environment, andayoungfamilywhorequirean adaptable‘home’astheyexplore theglobe” comments Jim Dixon, Studio Principal at Winch Design. “Acceptingthatchallengingdesign opportunityhas‘movedthedial’of ourstudiophilosophy”.

The dining area features a table and chairs crafted from 250-yearold wood which was sourced from timber which had fallen naturally, as was the ‘tree of life’

showcased in the family-focused classroom and playroom on the main deck, designed to display treasures collected from family adventures. This space also features a cork marquetry map of the world - a material chosen for its sustainability as it can be harvested without cutting down the tree it originates from.

One of the most striking features on board is a green living wall made from preserved moss, which forms the focal point of the main staircase, bringing natural beauty and texture to the space. The stairway design is inspired by biomimicry, incorporating a sculptural element made from the root of an elder tree and natural clay plaster walls, a contemporary non-toxic surface crafted using traditional clay plaster techniques.

Wooden flooring has been milled to incorporate a 3D wave pattern inspired by the sensation of walking barefoot across ocean sand, designed to gently massage the feet and provide a sense of physical grounding as you move around the interior. Carpets are 100% wool, hand-loomed in Sardinia and dyed using natural pigments.

Environmental considerations are not limited to the materials. The yacht is equipped with advanced emissions-reduction systems, including selective catalytic reduction, in compliance with IMO Tier III standards and enabling operation in ecologically sensitive regions. Engineering solutions also support lower energy consumption and long-term operational efficiency.

Measuring 44.30 meters in length, with a beam of 8.60 meters and gross tonnage of 499, Nasiba maintains the series’ hallmark functionality, big A-frame included. She is equipped with a substantial 65,000-liter fuel capacity which offers an impressive operational range of approximately 5,500 nautical miles when cruising at an economical speed of 10 knots. This extended range is made possible by her efficient propulsion system, featuring twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines.

This remarkable collaboration between Cantiere delle Marche, Winch Design, and visionary Owners is redefining conscious luxury, challenging conventional norms and pioneering healthconscious, eco-sensitive contemporary design. Nasiba represents a new chapter in yacht

design, where luxury, wellbeing, and environmental integrity are treated as inseparable. The project highlights what is possible when innovation, craftsmanship, and conscious intent are brought together in the service of a more responsible yachting experience.

THE VALUE OF LUXURY BEDDING

THE EXPERTS EXPLAIN WHAT MAKES HIGHEND BEDS AND BEDDING WORTH THE PRICE TAG

How much do you value a good night’s sleep? For Vispring, experts in luxury beds and handcrafted sleep solutions since 1901, and Frette, the prestigious Italian bedding and home textiles brand, high-quality bedding is key to achieving a high-quality rest and worth investing in.

Vispring and Frette also recognise the significant impact our sleeping

environment has on rest and recovery. There is a myriad of temporary sleep solutions aimed at enhancing rest, from supplements to pillow sprays, but the key to getting a truly great sleep night after night lies in high-quality mattresses, duvets and pillows with natural fillings, and beautifully tactile linens.

When you invest £1,000 in a Frette bedding collection or £100,000 in Vispring’s finest mattress, you’re not purchasing products, you’re investing in craftsmanship and decades of mastery. Each piece represents centuries-old techniques, materials sourced from the world’s finest origins, and an unwavering commitment to sleep.

A FIVE-STAR SLEEP AT HOME

For over a century, the world’s most luxurious hotels have turned to Frette and Vispring to provide their guests with unparalleled comfort. From the opulent firstclass cabins of the Titanic to today’s most prestigious addresses –including London’s Dorchester and the Beverly Hills Hotel – Vispring has consistently delivered sleep perfection where it matters most.

Frette’s fabrics have similarly graced interiors of extraordinary prestige, from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, the iconic Ritz hotels in Paris and London’s Savoy, to the legendary carriages of the Orient Express.

Both trusted for their exceptional comfort and quality, Vispring and Frette guarantee a five-star hotel sleep to your own bedroom night after night.

IT’S WHAT’S ON THE INSIDE THAT COUNTS

With a rich heritage rooted in British craftsmanship, quality, and innovation, Vispring pioneered the pocket sprung mattress in 1901 when its founders revolutionised the bedding industry with a design that continues to set the standard for luxury mattresses around the world. Vispring’s revolutionary pocket spring technology is what makes its mattresses remarkably comfortable, alongside natural materials that ensure luxury, comfort, and longevity.

Consider too what materials are used to fill your duvets and pillows. Wool is not only beneficial for mattresses, but it also serves as a comfortable filling for pillows, enhancing sleep quality by keeping your head and neck cool and well-supported throughout the night and helping to balance body temperature.

LUXURY BED LINENS

Like your mattress, it’s important to prioritise bed linen made from natural materials such as cotton that are breathable and help to regulate body temperature for an elevated sleep experience. Like mattresses, Frette also understands that there is no universal solution when it comes to our bed linen. Designed to suit personal preference, whether you prefer sheets that feel crisp, smooth or silky, and if your style is modern, minimalist or romantic, investing in luxury sheets transforms the physical comfort of your sleep and enhances the overall visual appeal of your bedroom to create a truly restful atmosphere.

When choosing the right linen for you, Frette advise following the three F’s: Fibre, Finish and Feel. Frette makes its sheets from Poplin, Percale, Simple Sateen, and Linen, each offering its own appeal. Frette then put its fabrics through a patented finishing process to create a luxuriously smooth finish unlike any other; how silky you would like your bed linen to feel is personal to you. Finally, consider the feel. We all have a strong preference for what sheets feel nice against our skin; consider a silkier, cotton sateen or a crisp cotton percale.

Rooted in the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship and detail, Frette’s new collection for AW25 offers a tactile journey that transforms the bedroom into a haven of quiet sophistication and regal comfort.

ELICA, THE ITALIAN WORLD LEADER IN STYLISH KITCHEN EXTRACTION OFFERS THE WIDEST RANGE ON THE MARKET

The Elica switch family of venting hobs is recognised as the most classic design in the sector and 2025 sees a number of major developments for the line.

Many of the latest models feature bright white LED controls when in use and are available in the new “Raw” matt anti-scratch finish as well as traditional black glass. The Switch family are highly specified hobs with many automatic functions including simmer, melting and warming modes

Elica’s new “green” induction technology is approximately 33% more efficient than conventional induction hobs. This is a real benefit as hobs use more energy when operating than any other appliance. Ideally suited to the contract and developer market, where energy efficiency is particularly important for the marketing of new homes to environmentally conscious purchasers, it has been introduced on the highly competitive Primis induction hobs and Alpha B venting hobs. Both offer all the performance and features you would expect and are available in 60 and 80 cm sizes.

Effective grease and odour filtering is at the heart of all Elica models and the new EVO filtering system gives the highest grease filtering efficiency available. When installed in recirculating mode the combination odour/grease filter is convenient and practical. The EVO system is extremely easy to maintain – just lift out the filter from the top of the hob and wash in the dishwasher to clean and then put the odour filter in a warm 75°C oven to regenerate.

When space is at a premium Elica offer their FIT venting hobs - in 60cm and 70cm sizes as well as the XL 80cm for maximum flexibility in any size kitchen. All have a bridging zone for large pans and the XL 80cm model is available with standard or the new Raw antiscratch, matt finish.

Elica also has FLAME - the only gas venting hob on the market and is perfect for more traditional cooks. Flame is available in both black and grey finishes.

All Elica venting hobs can be installed in duct-out or recirculating mode and there is a comprehensive range of recirculating kits for every type of installation. Elica odour filters are long-life and can be easily regenerated so they keep their performance for up to 3 years

For peace of mind all Elica induction and venting hobs come with a manufacturers five year warranty.

IN THE HEART OF SEVENOAKS

Set within a full-scale family renovation in leafy Kent, this modern kitchen and bespoke dressing room offer a masterclass in material contrast, hidden function, and everyday elegance.

Designed in partnership with Schmidt, the spaces reflect a seamless blend of minimalist form and thoughtful craftsmanship.

“Wewantedsomethingthatfelt cohesive with the rest of the home - modern, neutral, but with a real sense of character,” the homeowners explain. “The kitchen is now the centrepieceoffamilylife.Itisnotjust wherewecook, itiswherewegather.”

Central to the kitchen’s impact is the large island, with Bosca Stria doors. Their textured surface adds both visual depth and architectural flow. To maintain an uncluttered aesthetic, the design intentionally omits wall units. Instead, Jumbo Line drawers and deep cabinetry offer discreet storage, while a generous walk-in pantry ensures everything has its place.

“Thecleverstoragewasessential,” they say. “We wanted the kitchen to feelopenandcalm, butitstillhad tofunctionfordailyfamilyuse. The internallayoutmadethatpossible.”

By contrast, the dressing room posed a different challenge: a compact footprint with limited

natural light. Here, the focus was on creating a streamlined, high-function space without compromising on finish. Bespoke cabinetry and smart internal fittings maximised every inch.

Beyond design, the couple were also drawn to Schmidt’s sustainability credentials, including eco-certified materials and a circular approach to manufacturing. “Thatethosreally appealedtous.Itfeltlikeabrand alignedwiththevalueswewere tryingtobuildintoourhome.”

Despite unforeseen delays from contractors, the Schmidt team remained agile. “Theywere brilliant, adaptablewithtiming,

The renovation took place over six months, integrated into the broader construction programme. The result is a home that feels elevated yet effortless. “The walk-in pantryisalwaysatalkingpoint, and the island drawers make stayingorganisedsurprisinglyeasy. It has transformed how we live.”

HIX returns to London’s Business Design Centre on 26 & 27 November for two days of talks, installations, parties, and an exhibition of over 150 leading design brands.

HIX 2025. EUROPE’S LEADING HOTEL DESIGN SHOW RETURNS

Guided by the theme ‘culture clash’, this year’s edition of Europe’s leading hotel design event will bring the hospitality interiors community together for a celebration of the people, projects, products and perspectives shaping the next chapter of hotel interior experiences.

Featuring Expo, Social, Installation and Talks strands, this year’s programme explores the unique power of hotel design to bring people together and broaden horizons all around the world.

THEME

Hotels showcase the best a culture has to offer in one of the most important measures of success –how it looks after others. From the Japanese concept of omotenashi

which composes hospitality around care rather than expectation, to the Atithidevo Bhava principles of India that see guests considered as gods, each continent, country,

society and tribe has its own take on what constitutes an exceptional stay. Exploring the intersection of design, heritage and philosophy, this year’s theme of Culture Clash

is a platform for hotel design without borders, with the HIX 2025 programme celebrating the diverse range of customs, values, traditions and aesthetics that underpin local and global hospitality cultures alike.

EXPO

The HIX exhibitor community brings together the best European brands working at the cutting edge of hotel interior design. Showcasing a curated edit of over 150 major labels from across the furniture, bathroom, lighting, technology, fabric, surface and decor sectors, the HIX expo is a one-stop-shop for the best new collections and exclusive releases from Hansgrohe, Panaz, Chelsom, Laufen, Marset, Tuuci, Concept Contract and more. Special show-floor features this year include a pop-up concept guestroom exploring the connection between past and future by Nutro in the Silent Gliss showroom, and a Furniture Fusion stand paying homage to Bob Dylan and the transformative process of creativity.

TALKS

Across two days of panels, presentations and perspectives, HIX Talks explores the future of hospitality design with the people

shaping it. Answering the big hospitality design questions, this year’s programme looks to topics including the shifting definitions of luxury, innovations in hotel wellbeing, and the next wave of hospitality tech. Speakers include leading designers and operators from Ennismore, Accor, SH Hotels & Resorts, Conran & Partners,

Yotel, OBMI, Maybourne, Space Copenhagen and more. Returning sessions like Studio Confidential will take a look behind the curtain of a leading hospitality designers G.A Group, while a keynote interview with 25Hours founder Christoph Hoffmann is set explore how the brand shook up hotel culture with a bold new vision.

SOCIAL

HIX guests can experience the expert hospitality of the hotel design community as part of a dedicated social strand featuring parties, receptions, activations and pop-ups across the show floor. Join the fun at stand events hosted by the HIX exhibitor community and rub shoulders with industry leaders at our signature HIX Social Session (26 Nov, 5pm - 8pm) before making new connections at workshops and breakout content all designed to inspire collaboration.

INSTALLATION

Where previous installations have seen HIX host the world’s first mycelium bar, a reimagining of a London architectural icon, and two high-concept ‘rooms with a

point of view’, this year’s theme of Culture Clash offers a different perspective (quite literally). Created in collaboration with MKV Design and Luma Mirrors, ‘Reflections’ takes inspiration from the island of Ibiza and the unique social and creative exchanges that characterise its distinct cultural landscape. Complete with its own talks, bar and soundtrack, this year’s installation is a love letter to island living in the heart of bustling London.

HIX is free to attend, and welcomes designers, architects, operators, developers, investors, owners, project managers, suppliers, general managers and anyone else involved in bringing hotels to life.

Register for your free pass and join Europe’s hospitality design community at London’s Business Design Centre on 26 & 27 November for a true celebration of hotel design and experience. www.hixevent.com

SPOTLIGHT ON LAHART CARPENTRY THE ART OF LIVINGROOM FURNITURE

The living room is a room in one’s home that is not only a place where the family spends time together but is also on display to friends and other visitors. Having it be aesthetically pleasing really enhances the tone and vibe of meeting there and of time spent in the space.

Fitted furniture really works well here and can create all kinds of vibes that go with who you are and how you like to create the atmosphere of your environment. When done well it really feels like a piece of art!

By way of demonstration:

You will see here that the furniture has been surrounded with items of Art and it joins in with the arty feeling of the space. Space left as uncluttered space in the room can also enhance the aesthetic of what is in it, as you can in this picture taken with a wider view of the same work:

Here we have very similar units that have been used to create a completely different vibe. Painted to match the detailed fireplaceand the scotia bead around the base of the cupboards lends a curve detail that seems to complement the curves in the mantlepiece. A wall of living room Art!

Now here we have a beautiful, more formal, space created by placing cupboards and shelves as the corner furniture that encompass a living room sofa and coffee table that is clearly for the reception of guests. It is both interesting and elegant.

Lastly - a completely different atmosphere again – in the main,

whole-page photo, where you see the modern style cupboards and floating shelves placed in a classically styled room. As you can see, colour has been used by this client to create something again very aesthetically pleasing to view.

INSTEEL UK: REDEFINING MODERN LUXURY WITH HANDCRAFTED STEEL DOORS

Once reserved for industrial spaces, steel has emerged as one of the most desirable materials in modern home design a symbol of refinement, permanence, and understated luxury.

At the forefront of this movement is Insteel UK, a British atelier known for its bespoke, handcrafted steel doors that transform interiors into timeless architectural statements.

Founded by Agnes Mikulska, a former pharmacist turned design entrepreneur, Insteel has quickly become synonymous with the new language of modern elegance. “Steelhasalwaysbeenadmired foritsstrength,” Mikulska explains. “Buttoday,it’scelebratedforits sophistication.Ourclientswant spacesthatfeelbothtimelessand personalandsteeldeliversthat balance.”

From Belgravia townhouses to penthouses overlooking the Thames, Insteel’s projects reflect an artistry that merges precision engineering with soulful craftsmanship. Each piece is handmade in the UK, tailored to the property’s unique character, and designed to enhance light, flow, and spatial harmony.

Among its most striking commissions is a Kensington Mews House, where floor-to-ceiling steel partitions opened up the home to natural light without compromising intimacy. In a Mayfair penthouse, bespoke curved steel doors introduced a modern take on Art Deco glamour, while a Chelsea townhouse renovation used bold steel framing to contrast soft textures and create visual rhythm.

Unlike mass-produced alternatives, Insteel’s approach places equal weight on beauty and endurance. Each door or partition is treated as a bespoke work of functional art, one that can stand the test of time, both structurally and stylistically.

The brand’s ethos champions craftsmanship over trends, offering clients not just a product, but a legacy.

“Inanageoffleetingdesignfads, steel endures,” says Mikulska. “It unites modern minimalism with classicelegance, thequalitiesthat definetrueluxury.”

As discerning homeowners increasingly seek materials that evoke authenticity and permanence, Insteel’s vision positions steel as the modern heirloom of interior design. Strong yet graceful, functional yet emotive, it represents the evolution of luxury itself, one rooted in craftsmanship, individuality, and timeless design.
