New Controller for Distillery Process Weighing John White & Son (JWS) has developed a new Controller for the weighing process in distillery operations. Designed for new weighing installations, or to replace obsolete instrumentation on existing weighers, the new unit is now being installed in whisky distilleries throughout Scotland. In addition to the normal weighing functions of target weight, feed control, weight optimisation and throughput totalisation, the new controller is linked by ethernet connection to the distillery PLC control system allowing operators to manage the complete process from the Control Room.

Malton Laser provides sweet deal for chocolate hoppers Full-service sheet metalwork manufacturer, Malton Laser, has provided a series of large stainless-steel hoppers to be used by one of Britain’s biggest listed food companies, which manufactures brands that appear in 95% of British households. In total, six large metal vats have been manufactured, each measuring 1.5 metres wide and 1.6 metres high. The hoppers will be filled with melted chocolate and situated in 2.2 metre-high frames, to create sweet treats for supermarkets across the country. After drawing up the designs from a sample provided by the client using the latest CAD technology, Malton Laser cut the shapes required out of sheets of stainless steel using its state-of-the-art laser cutting machinery.
