CLERKENWELL DESIGN WEEK 2025 PREVIEW Made from bricks Leading this year’s festival is a major new public artwork by British artist Alex Chinneck, set in Charterhouse Square. This special commission marks Chinneck’s return to sculpting with brick and playing with architectural elevations. The piece incorporates repurposed steel salvaged from the demolition of another London building, thanks to the sponsorship of Cleveland Steel. It is developed with the support of Crittall Windows, FabSpeed and Michelmersh Brick Holdings PLC. Meanwhile, Albion Stone and Hutton Stone return to Clerkenwell Green with a new pavilion designed by Hawkins\Brown and engineered by Webb Yates. Brick from a Stone: Arch Revival features a striking pair of nearly four-metre-high freestanding vaulted arches. One is constructed from sandstone bricks in various hues from Hutton Stone’s quarries, while the other is crafted from Heritage Portland Stone bricks from Albion Stone’s Dorset mine. Each arch is composed of a single layer of 102mm-thick stone bricks, demonstrating the material’s versatility as a load-bearing architectural product.

Platform, AH HA Project will unveil its first product range, inspired by the natural contours of geological formations. These pieces are machine-carved and hand-finished in the UK by the studio’s founders. DESIGN HOUSE STOCKHOLM UNVEILS LATEST ADDITION TO THE ESTABLISHED DESIGN PHILOSOPHY ‘FANTASY & FUNCTION’ Swedish design publishing house Design House Stockholm continues its core philosophy of ‘Fantasy & Function’ by adding a new addition to their design classics portfolio.
Consistently promoting innovative and user-centric design, Design House Stockholm believes that fantasy is not just an indulgence, but an indispensable artistic ingredient in the design process. Merged with functional elements such as technological, ergonomic, and material requirements, fantasy becomes the finishing touch that elevates a project from ordinary to one of a kind. This approach encapsulates the design ethos of the brand and highlights the intrinsic part that fantasy and function plays in the philosophy of Design House Stockholm. In collaboration with over sixty talented designers, Design House Stockholm has spent nearly three decades supporting creative ideas and bringing them to life through their publishing. Each project or product carries a story that challenges the conventional understanding of function. Through an ongoing exploration of Fantasy and Function, the publishing house continues to redefine what design means and how it can enhance our lives. Creating a home that promotes comfort, relaxation and wellness is crucial and often difficult to achieve, Design House Stockholms’ fantasy and function collection of design classics will
Mellow Clock in Red
enhance the home and bring a sense of calm to the space. Through a careful balance of imagination and practicality, the designer creates objects that are not just functional, they carry stories and evoke emotions. Some
pieces demand attention, asserting their presence, while others remain subtle, waiting for the right moment to reveal their functionality. These designs are as symbolic and poetic as they are functional, with that unexpected element of surprise
17
that sets good design apart from bad. Without fantasy to guide the creative process, we would be left with uninspired creations, which is why Design House Stockholm champion designs that are both exploration of art as well as a process of practicality. NEW Mellow Clock, designed by Joe Parr, 2025 As the UK marks the start of the British Summer Time, Design House Stockholm introduces the newest addition to their collection, Mellow Clock by designer Joe Parr - a perfect blend of functionality and art to accompany the seasonal transition. Transforming timekeeping into a sculptural and playful experience, Mellow Clock is described as a “fantasy and function in one superb object” by Design House Stockholm founder, Ander Färdig. Crafted from highgloss lacquered aluminium, the Mellow Clock features an organic design without any numbers, two prominent hands, and a silent pendulum that moves gently. Available in red and blue, it stands at 48.5 cm tall and 21 cm wide, making it a striking and artistic addition to any interior.

CALLENDER HOWORTH —
PARISIAN RESIDENTIAL PROJECT Project name: TBC Designers: Mark Howorth, Callender Howorth Location: Paris, France Area: 191 m2 Photography credit: Vigo Jansons
Callender Howorth has completed the meticulous refurbishment of a Belle Époque apartment in Paris, restoring its grandeur while reimagining it as a warm, eclectic, and romantic retreat for its Francophile American owners from California. Once stripped of its original architectural details and left in a dated state, the apartment underwent a full-scale transformation. The design team took the space back to its bare bones, carefully reconfiguring the layout to enhance spatial flow. The refurbishment introduced generously proportioned bathrooms, a dedicated wine room, and a state-of-the-art kitchen, ensuring the apartment seamlessly blends historic charm with contemporary living. A key focus of the project was reinstating architectural details. Working closely with specialists at Stevensons of Norwich, Callender Howorth developed a bespoke design language for the paneling, ceilings, and doors, lending the space a renewed sense of grandeur. A highlight of the restoration is the drawing room ceiling, customdesigned to incorporate delicate butterfly motifs - an homage to the client’s personal favorite symbol. The interior design concept embraces the idea of a “jewel box” - a series of rich, immersive spaces brought to life through vibrant hues, deeply patinated marbles,

SARAH LOUISE DIX
UPHOLSTERY DESIGNER, SURREY Sarah Louise Dix fuses quality pieces of furniture with new ideas in upholstery.
Using her well-honed upholstery skills and an eye for the unusual use of materials, Sarah’s pieces are furniture art and have been seen on Chanel 4 and sold to clients in the US, London and Surrey.
Sarah’s work has been influenced by Vivienne Westwood (she once worked for her PR company) artist Nina Saunders and Salvador Dali. In the past Sarah has used her fashion design background and incorporated her clothes making skills and actual items of clothing in her work. Works include The Corset Chair (with a fully boned corset back) The Fur Mini Cape Footstool and The Corset Chaise Longue. Current pieces are weird and wonderful, using alternative materials, surreal ideas and sculptured shapes. Sarah loves using centuries old techniques and materials while creating something unexpected. She is currently working on a pair of Louis XV style armchairs where the upholstery layers (from springs, stitched hessian and padding) are encased in transparent fabric so you can see inside.
Each layer can be lifted out separately, yet once back in place form a fully functional chair upholstered in a stunning velvet and high end trimmings.
We offer a full upholstery service and 10 week upholstery courses and workshops.
Commissions and collaborations are welcome to create a stunning one off piece of furniture for your home.

KATERINA TCHEVYTCHALOVA, DIRECTOR AT K’ARTE DESIGN DESIGN The design phase of the project was a full-scale collaboration with architects Pike and Partners, resulting in the complete refurbishment of this elegant threestorey townhouse in the heart of Chelsea. Every element of the home was reimagined - from the internal layout to the finer details of materials and finishes. All existing bathrooms, kitchens, and joinery were stripped out and replaced with a cohesive, thoughtfully considered design that reflects both form and function.
THE BRIEF The brief for this Chelsea townhouse was to design a neutral and timeless interior scheme in soft shades of grey and blue. The palette was chosen not only for its calming and sophisticated appeal, but also for its versatility allowing the space to evolve as the family’s needs and personal style developed. The property is a family home for a young couple with two small children, so it was essential that the interiors felt welcoming, functional, and family-friendly while still maintaining a strong sense of style. One of the client’s key goals was to create a serene backdrop that would allow their growing art collection to take centre stage. This meant carefully balancing clean lines and subtle finishes with thoughtful touches of character, texture, and light. The result is an interior that feels personal yet restrained, elegant yet practical - a home that supports busy family life without compromising on
aesthetic appeal. A strong emphasis was placed on longevity: rather than following passing trends, the design needed to feel enduring and adaptable, ensuring the family could continue to enjoy and grow into the space over time.
A key consideration throughout was creating a space that was not only beautiful but also child friendly. This was achieved with rounded forms, soft edges, and wipe-clean finishes. For example, the dining table was designed with an oval ceramic top - stain-resistant, durable, and free of sharp corners paired with faux leather stools and kitchen chairs for easy maintenance and longevity.
31
These subtle, practical design choices ensured the home could comfortably support daily family life without sacrificing visual impact. Sustainability was also woven into the project, with an emphasis on natural materials and ethical sourcing. One standout detail is the rug in the master bedroom, which is crafted from recycled fishing nets proof that sustainable choices can still deliver on comfort and luxury.
CHALLENGES One of the main challenges of this project was coordinating a wide range of stakeholders - including architects, contractors, trades, and suppliers - while ensuring the original design intent remained consistent from start to finish. Clear communication and close collaboration were essential to keep everyone aligned and working toward the same vision. As with any residential project, there’s also the deeply personal nature of creating a home. Clients are emotionally invested in the outcome, and understandably so - it’s where they live their lives. That can add pressure, but it’s also what makes the process so rewarding. When everything comes together and we deliver a home that truly reflects the client’s personality and needs, it’s incredibly fulfilling.
THE OUTCOME The finished home was delivered on time and within budget - an achievement in itself when working with multiple moving parts. Most importantly, the client was thrilled with the result. The house is now a calm, stylish, and practical space tailored to their daily lives. It also has the flexibility to grow and evolve over time, especially as the family’s art collection expands. The interiors were designed with this in mind: a timeless backdrop that can accommodate new pieces and personal touches as they emerge. The project has created a home that not only functions beautifully but continues to inspire and reflect the people who live in it.

It’s a bespoke ‘all-in’ ethos that also carries through from the domestic, into more commercial jobs; An on-going project with a fivestar hotel in Courchevel 1850, France, has so far been more than a year-long operation in partnership with Atelier Gohard; From large scale renovation and preparatory work, wallpaper hangings, patinas and surface finishes down to the last detail throughout the building. No finish is impossible to achieve, it seems. So, when legendary interior designer Gabhan O’Keeffe came calling, they were up for the challenge. An ongoing friendship between the two has since resulted in multiple collaborations using a versatile range of techniques applied by Grand Palette Studio’s in-house artisans; From gilding and trompe l’oeil murals, to ‘verre églomisé’, bas relief sculpting, faux marbling and woodgraining, to hand-painted chinoiserie and lacquering. “He has a wonderful abundance of style yet gives you a huge amount of creative freedom-” says Zibby on Gabhan, “-but everything is extremely bespoke and his quality and attention to detail are immaculate; A mindset we as a company also value very highly”.
Established in 2018, Grand Palette Studio has become the decorator of choice for many celebrated designers and high-profile clients looking to transform their spaces, right down to the finest finish. With a focus on high quality, sustainable materials and expert craftsmanship, they have collaborated with the likes of Ken Faulk and Studio Antoine, hung De Gournay wallpapers for world class VIP’s and royal families from the Middle East, and solidified their reputation for the specialist finishes they have become well-known for.
So far, this mindset has led them into the path of some of the crème de la crème of the interior’s world, and garnered recognition from the likes of the British Institute of Interior Design, the Guild of Master Craftsmen, and the Design and Build Awards 2025. With a brand-new showroom soon to be opening at the Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour, this is an in-demand studio to watch closely.
“For us it’s also about the relationships,” says founder Zibby, who has over 20 years of experience working in the sector; “You have to really nurture and create with the client, to build the respect and trust that allows for collaboration and that’s when something special happens.”
‘Something special’ is what happened when Grand Palette Studio was tasked with decorating the London villa of designer, dealer and gallerist Axel Vervoordt. Known worldwide for his masterful use of muted colours, soft tones and minimal but sophisticated aesthetic, any personal space of Vervoordt’s was going to be a study of technical precision and timelessness; Cue custom-made, pure limewash colours, bespoke plaster finishes, and traditional ammonia fuming to alter the hue of oak flooring. “We utilised a lot of timehonoured techniques to get the perfect finishes, but there was also room for creativity and innovation” Zibby explains. For limewash walls this meant an artistic approach using many extremely fine layers of contrasting paints to build up the depth of colour. Similarly for the bespoke tadelakt, an ancient plaster technique using lime plaster and olive-oil soap, natural earth pigments were used on a staircase to create nuances of colour and grain that imitated the movement of the surrounding marbles. “We were there from start to finish.”

LHOV BY ELICA:
THE ONLY APPLIANCE YOU WILL NEED Revolutionary is a word often overused but in the case of Lhov by Elica, it may actually be an understatement.
This elegantly integrated unit redefines the kitchen appliance category by combining four core appliances — induction hob, powerful extraction, a world-first extractor oven, and full steam oven — all in one beautifully streamlined design.
47
The induction hob is just as forward-thinking. Featuring five zones—more than any other extractor hob on the market—it’s made possible by moving the extraction vents to the sides and having 2 extractors with a combined air flow of 1100 m³/h. Each zone offers nine power levels and intelligent features that echo professional kitchens: from precision melting and gentle simmering to warming and power shifts with a simple pan move.
At the heart of Lhov’s innovation is its ability to remove vapour not only from the hob but also from the oven itself—an industry first. When the oven door opens, a discrete extraction system above its full width draws out smoke and odours before they can escape into the room. Sleekly housed within the appliance, this feature preserves both the air quality and the clean lines of contemporary kitchen schemes.
Beyond performance, Lhov is built with aesthetics in mind. Its flush, minimalist design integrates seamlessly into cabinetry, with no protruding corners or visible interruptions. Positioned ergonomically, the appliance maximises usability and spatial harmony, aligning beautifully with high-spec residential interiors. With an A+ energy rating, a fiveyear warranty, and multiple international design awards— including the prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI Premio—Lhov is not only redefining appliances, but setting a new standard for kitchen design.
The oven itself is a master of versatility, offering traditional, steam and air-fry cooking modes, along with a smart food temperature probe for precise results. Whether using one of the 48 automatic programmes or customising your own settings, the intuitive full-touch interface makes it feel as natural as using a smartphone—ideal for clients who value both performance and ease. Designers will appreciate the oven’s wider-than-standard proportions, providing a single-level cavity that delivers even results—perfect for large dishes and statement entertaining. Below the oven, space is left free for additional storage, reinforcing the product’s spatial efficiency.

GROUND FLOOR A number of different living areas provide relaxed areas to both unwind and entertain. For the living area off the hall, a more traditional approach was taken to the lighting with low glare small Polespring 40s downlights lighting the panels and the center of the coffee table. was to accentuate its sweeping design with a sleek, linear lighting detail, navigating the complexities of concealed steel frames within the walls. Through relentless collaboration, they refined the proposals until achieving a design that harmonized aesthetic vision with technical precision.
CHALLENGES The innovative movable pool floor presented its own set of challenges, requiring a lighting system adaptable enough to transform the space from serene swimming sanctuary to vibrant event venue at the push of a button. Controlled by a sophisticated Lutron system, the lighting effortlessly adapts to preset scenes throughout, nowhere more impactful than in the luxurious basement retreat.
For the living area which sits at the other end of the kitchen surrounded by glass onto the garden beyond, carefully concealed Contour HD LED strip lights through the voile curtains and subtly lights up the light well above. Carefully positioned Vorsa Fix spotlights provide pools of light onto the centre of the coffee tables creating a more intimate space. For the kitchen which sits in the middle of the two living spaces above, decorative pendants set the scene whilst Polespring 40s provide task light to the island and wash light down the front of the cupboards and curtains. This is layered with Contour LED strip under the island and the cabinets providing task light onto the work surfaces. A further layer is added with Lucca 30 uplights framing the windows.
56
LEISURE SPACES The cinema and snooker room are discreetly hidden off the main hall. The lighting was designed to offer different light levels to suit the experience required. At low level, Contour LED strip is concealed under the steps to guide your way and concealed at high level to add interest. Infill light and lighting to the artwork is provided by Polespring 50s. For the home office, task light was designed over the desk with Polespring 40s but also backlit the integrated joinery unit and uplit the window reveals with Lucca 30s.
BEDROOMS The elegant lighting designs for the luxurious bedrooms across the first and second floors provide sanctuaries to be enjoyed both during the day and at night. In the master bedroom below, hanging pendants either side of the bed are complimented with Polespring 40 downlights to the headboard and end of the bed and Lucca 30s uplighting to the art behind catching the 3D butterflies on them and the door frame to lead you to the bathroom.
57
BATHROOMS Each bathroom had a different style, allowing for varying imaginative designs for each. For the bathroom with a stunning curved shower, Polespring 40s light the perimeter emphasising its curve. Individual niches are downlit with Lucca 30s.
DRESSING ROOM The master dressing room features a central pendant. The light from this is supplemented with Polespring 40 downlights directing light to the center of the island, cupboard fronts and the dressing table. Depth is added with Minims lighting the niches either side of the mirror and Contour LED front lighting the handbag section and underlighting the cabinetry.
THE OUTCOME The culmination of their collaborative efforts is a harmonious synergy of architecture, interiors, and lighting. Every detail has been meticulously crafted to pay homage to the client’s Indian heritage, creating a space that feels both personal and authentic.

BY FRANKLITE
A first for us and making a debut in this catalogue is our portable table lamp collection. A variety of cast aluminium rechargeable lamps in various sizes and finishes featuring colour temperature options and a dimmer setting memory function that memorises the dimming level. Sleek and functional these table lamps can be for interior and exterior use.
Our new Catalogue 27 is more than just a collection of lighting pieces. Whether you’re seeking subtle elegance, bold statements or simple functionality, our decorative lighting ranges are designed to inspire and illuminate your world.
Explore our curated collection featuring both beloved classics that have stood the test of time and new innovative pieces that will transform your space. With emphasis on dedicated LED products there are a number of ranges in the catalogue that provide optimal performance with beautiful aesthetics, one of our core values. Eternity was hand selected to feature on our catalogue cover as it represents the ultimate statement
piece. The curved edges enhance the upwards illumination of these dedicated and dimmable LED pendants. The new brushed bronze finish elevates the overall aesthetics of the Beatrice range. With its original shape and style of the delicate angled cut crystal glasses, this impressive range includes single, double and triple tiered LED pendants and a matching wall light. The combination of a matt black finish and layered crystal design creates a striking contrast for the Coral range. With two layers of crystals – an octagonal layer at the back and the coral-like formation in the front add depth and visual interest. This design not only highlights the elegance of the crystals but also introduces an organic, textured feel.
The addition of a remote control and multi-way charging pad for the portable table lamps in a hospitality setting significantly enhances both convenience and functionality. The remote can sync multiple table lamps and control a variety of functions simultaneously whilst the six-way charging pad makes it very easy to charge multiple units. The Newton rise and fall pendant seamlessly blends artistry with functionality. Its distressed bronze finish and frosted glass offer a vintage charm, while the cage detail adds a modern edge. The adjustable design ensures you can effortlessly control the level of light. From sophisticated flush ceiling fittings and wall lights that bring an elegant glow to any room, to decorative table and floor lamps that combine style and practicality, there’s something to complement every interior.

FOR THE LOVE OF POTTERY With a background in textile design Trix Newham brought her understanding of colour, texture and decorative balance to the world of ceramics when she rekindled her childhood love of pottery in 2021. Beginning with small square dishes adorned in sgraffito and geometric patterns.
These early works found an audience through a gallery in Margate, where she lives. In 2022, she exhibited alongside Something Familiar at the well-regarded Pie Factory Gallery, where she introduced her signature ceramic lamps. Their success marked a turning point, solidifying her decision to pursue ceramics professionally. In her tile collection Newham has managed to marry form and function in an innovative way, seamlessly incorporating technical aspects into wall spaces, with her signature colours and geometric style these tiles transcend mere decoration, serving as functional accents that elevate any space. As each tile is uniquely handmade the possibilities are endless to create that beautiful useful element to add to your living space. Imagine lighting a scented candle held within a ceramic holder seamlessly integrated into your bathroom wall, reaching for a bar of artisanal soap resting atop a beautifully crafted tile
or grabbing a handful of salt from the wall in your kitchen. Each piece is designed to enhance daily rituals. LUX Pottery debuted this collection at the 2025 Surface Design Show at the Business Design Centre, Islington. Initially presented as a mood board to showcase potential applications, the display attracted the attention of interior designers who were drawn to the full, curated compositions. This led to the creation of the modular
splashback—a concept now exclusive to www.luxpottery.co.uk, available in a range of colourways with interchangeable components. Working with architects and interior designers Newham has a vision of turning spaces into sumptuously decorative yet practical environments that effortlessly blend form and function, creating luxurious yet liveable spaces that inspire and delight on a sensory level.

DESIGNING FOR WELLNESS As design professionals, we know that truly exceptional interiors go beyond what we see - they shape how we feel. Human-Centric Lighting (HCL) is an approach that brings this philosophy to life, placing the wellbeing of occupants at the heart of lighting design.
In high-end residential properties, where clients expect more than just luxury finishes, integrating HCL can elevate not only the aesthetic, but also the sensory and emotional experience of a space. HCL considers the full spectrum of light’s impact on the human body - from circadian rhythm regulation to mood and energy levels. It’s not just about colour temperature or dimming levels; it’s about delivering the right type of light, at the right time of day, to support natural biological cycles. Wellness spaces such as home spas, saunas, and gyms are prime candidates for human-centric lighting. In these areas, light should energise in the morning, promote recovery after workouts, and support relaxation in the evening. Designing with this in mind means thinking beyond ceiling spots and decorative fixtures - UV and IR lighting can be used purposefully to simulate natural conditions or support specific wellness goals.
PRACTICAL ADVICE FOR INTEGRATION: Engage lighting designers early Incorporating HCL is most effective when considered at concept stage, particularly for spaces with wellness functions. Think layering and flexibility Combine ambient, task, and accent lighting that adapts to different times and activities. Use controls to your advantage Integrate lighting with shading and environmental controls to enhance the sensory experience and energy efficiency.
Educate clients - Many homeowners are unaware of the benefits of HCL - position it as a design-forward, wellness-enhancing investment. At MP Technical Solutions, we collaborate with designers to develop intelligent lighting schemes that enhance both form and function. If you’re looking to integrate human-centric lighting into your next project, we’d be glad to help you bring the vision to life.
When planned early, HCL can be seamlessly integrated with other control systems - automated shading, HVAC, and even audio - to create multi-sensory environments that respond to time of day, usage, and mood. This is particularly powerful in high-spec homes where clients are investing in personalised experiences.

THE OCEAN COLLECTION BY MATER PAYS TRIBUTE TO 70 YEARS OF ENDURING DESIGN
Initially designed by Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel, the iconic outdoor collection still captivates with its timeless appeal—reimagined for today.
Mater, the pioneering Danish green-tech design brand, proudly celebrates the 70th anniversary of the 1955 design that inspired its Ocean Collection. Originally created by the renowned Danish designers Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel, Mater has thoughtfully reimagined the collection since 2019, blending heritage with innovation to tackle modern sustainability challenges. Mater breathes new life into this iconic series by transforming waste into durable, elegant furniture while remaining true to the Ditzels’ visionary approach to functional and enduring design.
Ocean was originally named Havestol by Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel, which translates from Danish to ‘garden chair.’ The series featured a frame made of red or black lacquered steel tubes, paired with a laminated beech seat and a choice of ash or teak veneer. Havestol was produced by Poul Kolds Savværk in Kerteminde, on the island of Funen, Denmark. Today, Mater’s iterations include ‘Black’ and ‘Sand’ colourways, made from upcycled fishing nets and ocean plastic waste. In contrast, a green colourway is produced from recycled medical plastic waste, such as discarded insulin pens. Advances in technology now allow the safe decontamination of medical plastics, enabling materials that were once destined for incineration to be repurposed. The latest edition in ‘Burnt Red’ incorporates post-
consumer e-waste, addressing the growing global issue of e-waste consumption. Mater’s Ocean collection, featuring chairs, benches and tables, aims to conserve natural resources and minimise pollution.
71
Inspired by the delicate grace of butterflies, Nanna Ditzel aimed to create furniture that embodied a sense of lightness and fluidity. Even 70 years later, the Ocean series is still characterised by its lightweight structure, repetitive slats and metal frames designed and tested for robust outdoor use. The collection is engineered for disassembly, enabling each component to be recycled in its purest form. To celebrate the anniversary, the Ocean Collection has been photographed in Nanna Ditzel’s former holiday home, which is now occupied by Nanna Ditzel’s daughter, Vita and her husband Søren. The holiday home is located in Hornbæk, Denmark and was Nanna Ditzel’s summertime sanctuary between 1963-1987. Nanna and Jørgen’s influence is still present through furniture and artefacts handed down from the designer couple to their children. Ketil Årdal, CEO of Mater, comments on the relationship with the Ditzel foundation saying, “At Mater, our goal is to continue challenging traditional conventions of furniture production. Sustainable thinking is at the forefront of every decision we make, and we are constantly exploring innovative materials, transforming waste into beautiful, durable products. Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel’s influence on Danish design is profound and we take immense pride in upholding their legacy through Ocean.”
72
Dennie Ditzel, daughter of Nanna and Joergen Ditzel, comments on the partnership with Mater, “When something celebrates its 70th anniversary you might assume it looks old and tired, but looking at Mater’s Ocean collection, you wouldn’t believe the age of this design. We at Nanna Ditzel Design are delighted with what Mater has achieved. Our parents designed this garden furniture in 1955, when we were small children. They were a young couple who had moved into a house with a garden a few years before, so they simply needed a set of garden furniture, and when you are furniture designers, you naturally create what you need. Originally, the furniture was made of moulded ash wood.
73
Congratulations to the “old” garden furniture and to Mater, with whom we have had an incredibly good collaboration.” As Mater continues to develop the Ocean Collection, the brand remains committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainable design while honouring the visionary spirit of Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel. By transforming waste into timeless furniture, Mater not only reaffirms the enduring relevance of Danish design but also paves the way for a more responsible future. The Ocean collection stands as a testament to the power of innovation, demonstrating that great design transcends time—celebrating 70 years of heritage while embracing the possibilities of tomorrow.
