IN DANGER OF DISAPPEARING

Ft. BLUE FWHALE t. BLUE FWHALE t. BLUE WHALE

Blue whales are the most massive animals ever to have lived, a species of baleen whale that weighs approximately 150 tons and may attain a length of more than 30 metres (98 feet). Blue whales are blue gray in colour with lighter gray mottling in the form of large spots, which appear as if they were dabbed on with a huge paintbrush. Blue whales live in all the world's oceans, except the Arctic, occasionally swimming in small groups but usually alone or in pairs. They often spend summers feeding in polar waters and undertake lengthy migrations towards the Equator as winter arrives. These graceful swimmers cruise the ocean at more than five miles an hour, but accelerate to more than 20 miles an hour when they are agitated. Blue whales are among the loudest animals on the planet. They emit a series of pulses, groans, and moans, and it’s thought that, in good conditions, blue whales can hear each other up to 1,000 miles away. Scientists think they use these vocalizations not only to communicate, but, along with their excellent hearing, to sonar-navigate the lightless ocean depths. Blue whales are among Earth's longest lived animals. Average lifespan is estimated at around 80 to 90 years. Aggressive hunting in the 1900s by whalers seeking whale oil drove them to the brink of extinction. Between 1900 and the mid 1960s, some 360,000 blue whales were slaughtered. They finally came under protection with the 1966 International Whaling Commission, but they've managed only a minor recovery since then.

ROTARY BANGALORE NORTH WEST

My Dear Rotaractors, September was the month of basic education and literacy and October is the month of economic and community development. Rotary’s focus on these two themes is more important now than ever, as the impact of the economic upheaval caused by the pandemic has a magnifying effect on the most vulnerable class of the society Our focus towards education secures the future of many families and in turn societies But just a focus on the future will not solve the immediate problems, Swami Vivekananda said “do not preach on empty stomach”, hungry people cannot be taught anything It becomes critical to make the vulnerable stable economically, for, as we slowly recover from the pandemic, it is important to take up projects which help alleviate the needy from the bane of illiteracy and poverty. Our war on polio is not yet over, the detection and reinfection of polio in countries where polio appeared after decades has once again demonstrated how crucial it is to completely eradicate this disease from the face of the world Rtn Jennifer Jones, President Rotary international, has committed an additional $150 million towards global eradication I urge you to create awareness about this disease on the world Polio day which falls on Oct 24 It is important for Rotaractors to register their names and emails with Rotary to receive communications and share your experiences and ideas with Rotary Another way of exchanging ideas and sharing your experience of Rotary is through student exchange programs This program has not only transformed the life of the youth but also moulded them to become Leaders. I urge you all to take advantage of this program.to have a glimpse of the program check this page www rotary org/en/rotary youth exchange your passport to adventure

Dear Rotaractors,

"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better " ....

It's impossible to achieve your goals without working hard If you can make a plan towards that achievement, then you need to surround yourself with motivated people and be ready to learn from them. A keen observation, open mind and quick learning of good habits will always help in achieving your goals. Ensure that big goals are broken into small tasks and they happen in the stipulated timelines Look around you for people who inspire you and get your inspiration.

Hoping to have meaningful activities soon....

Wishing you a very happy and colorful Deepavali the festival of lights.

Chai pe Charcha is a year long initiative begun by the club where discussions about current affairs and everything else under the sun are held. The club’s intention is to bring in members to have an informal session on the Governmental aspects of our country with an evening cup of Chai. The very first session was held on 5th August on Google Meet platform. Our project chair Rtr. Sushanth Shekar Kaushik, Spoke about the recent Presidential Elections and gave an insight about how the Parliament works and also elaborated about the different levels in it and how the representatives are elected. The session was very interactive which went on for an hour with around 25 members in the meeting who then took home a lot of interesting facts about the administrative aspects of the Government bodies.

Friendship Day

The first Sunday of August is marked as the day of celebrating one of the purest forms of human relationship Friendship! This year on 7th August, 13 interested members of our club were requested to share a picture of them cherishing their moments with their friends. After all, what is a better representation of the memories spent with our loved ones than a nice photograph. Google forms were sent out to the club members to upload the photos with their friends. Following the current generation and trend, the club’s PR and Editorial Team compiled all photos to a reel and posted it on the social media platform.

Board of Directors Meeting

17TH AUGUST, 2022

The Board of Directors had the first offline meeting in the college campus on 17th August. It was initiated by the President with his thought provoking and motivational words. The administration and future projects were discussed. The Club strongly abides by the importance of having a close knit community of members and avenue directors to enable harmonious functioning of the club.

The District had organised a Training Session called “Ignite” for the Board of Directors to enable them to efficiently manage the club and engage the members. This year, it was conducted at Garden City College on 21st August Live training was provided to the Rotaractors to provide a better understanding about the roles and responsibilities as an office bearer. The general assembly conducted on this day provided a deeper insight into the functioning of the District as an efficient body of administration

The Capture

19TH AUGUST, 2022

Camera is one of the best inventions mankind has ever seen. It allows you to capture those perfect moments and frame them as memories to be cherished in the future. The club conducted a joint project with the Rotaract Club of Swayombhu, Nepal on account of World Photography Day which is celebrated on the 19th of August. The members shared their photographs about human emotions and street photography along with the motive behind that capture.

In order to make beautiful memories on International Dog Day celebrated on 26th August, cyanophiles from the club visited Karuna Dog Shelter located in Hebbal. It's an NGO that provides shelter to stray dogs that have been abandoned by their pet parents due to various reasons. The shelter is a safe haven to 200+ dogs of various breeds like Indian mongrels, Mudhol, German Shepherd, Rotweiler, etc. It also houses an array of birds, kittens, emus and donkeys. An efficient team of 25 people run this NGO. The members got a chance to interact with many of the friendly canines. The main motive behind the visit was to raise awareness about adoption of pets rather than purchasing dogs born out of unsafe inter breeding. The members were also given in depth knowledge about rabies and how to prevent it. Grass root level insight was given about the first aid to be performed in case of a dog bite. Overall, it was a fun filled and equally informative event.

Where do Lonely hearts go ?

Do they find their way home?

Or do they stumble along the road alone?

Do they get healed with love ?

Or do they fill the cracks with hate?

Do they see brightness of hope?

Or do they drown in depth of depression?

Do they addict the feeling of revenge?

Or do they angelically forgive?

Do they ever forget pain?

Or do they learn to live without heal?

Do they put down the hell that's going inside?

Or do they get locked out of heaven?
