Great People Make Favorite Places BCC has created an actionable statement that helps define our philosophy known as The Simple Truth: Great People Make Favorite Places. Below is a small sample of staff members who are helping to make BCC your favorite place. ◆
2020 Staff Member of the Year Jessica Klemm, Graphic Design Assistant
We congratulate Jess for being named 2020 Staff Member of the Year! She is a phenomenal member of the BCC Team and truly embodies our Core Four: Number 1: Do What’s Right, Not What’s Easy Jess is honest, dependable, and doesn’t hesitate to do what is asked of her. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, she worked long hours to ensure our Communications Team created consistent, engaging content for our members. Number 2: Empowerment Through Opportunity When Jess is faced with a challenge, she is quick to brainstorm creative solutions or improve upon existing processes.
Number 3: Build Genuine Relationships Jess has learned so much in the last year, but she possesses a quality that cannot be taught—empathy. She doesn’t hesitate to help create a green folder story or assist other departments. Number 4: Be Extraordinary She is always eager to learn new skills. Most notably, after the departure of one of our team members, Jess did not hesitate to take on the responsibility of video editing with no prior experience. After taking an online course and watching YouTube tutorials, Jess now has the skill set of a seasoned video editor! Jess’ contributions to the Club are immeasurable and we are honored to celebrate all of her accomplishments!
March Staff Member of the Month
Kate Castor, Server and Banquet Captain We congratulate Kate for being named March Staff Member of the Month! She has been a crucial helping hand for our Food & Beverage Team by taking on the role as a Banquet Captain after learning the ins and outs of the position while she was a Server. Kate has also assisted with operational tasks, led events, and helped train fellow staff members—which is invaluable as we welcome our new summer season staff members! Her leadership skills, work ethic, and adaptability have made the Food & Beverage Team better as a whole.
Leadership Award Travis Peters, Director of Outside Services We congratulate Travis for receiving the Exceptional Leadership Award! Travis was promoted to Director of Outside Services in March 2021 and has already made a big impression on one of our members with his commitment to exceptional service. When a golf member requested new grips, Travis responded promptly and made the trip to Baltimore Golf. Unfortunately, the store did not have the color the member requested, and the member was unable to follow up with Travis with an alternative selection. So rather than leaving empty-handed, Travis made the executive decision to purchase a color that would match the member’s golf bag. The member was very impressed and appreciative of Travis’ attention to detail and good decision making. While this may be all in a day’s work for Travis, this level of service makes him a true leader and is a perfect example of why Great People Make Favorite Places. 1
