MCC May 2025 Newsletter

2025

Dear MCC Members,

Happy May!

We have exciting updates and improvements happening around the club that I’d like to share.

The Board vetted some 6 golf course architects with visits to the club, interviews, and reference checks. As of last month, we have engaged a golf course architect firm, Golf Links. Their owner, Jerry Lemons, has been in the business of golf course design for over 30 years with countless projects behind him. We were very impressed with him and his work. Part of his job will be to solicit bids from competent contractors who will submit bids for the work to be done. Once completed, we will move forward

Also, as part of the process, members of the Golf and Greens Committee visited both Palmilla GC in Port Aransas and Corpus Christi Country Club to research the process they underwent to remodel their golf course several years ago. The group even played a round of golf, noting their grasses, bunkers, and irrigation upgrades

I should have some solid information to share once preliminary work is done. I will keep everyone posted.

Also worth mentioning are the kitchen remodels which are part of the capital project. We’ve also had architects provide us with renderings for a new, efficient, modern, and updated layout. I’ve heard rumors that the kitchens have been removed from the capital projects; that is absolutely false

Lastly, as I mentioned last month, the brand-new website is on its way. We’ve submitted all the requested information, along with formatting and design. We’ve responded to the first draft, and stay tuned for the official launch – we can’t wait to share it with you.

With that, I look forward to seeing you around your club,

Jeff

Dining Dining

Dear MCC Members,

Thank you to everyone who joined us in April for our Bunny Brunch, Easter celebrations, Spanish Wine Tasting and Tapas,

Administrative Assistants Day, and The Member-Guest Golf Tournament

If you haven’t checked out our weekday lunch buffets on Wednesdays and Fridays, please plan on joining us to experience new items and fresh concepts to the buffet.

With all the wind and rain this spring, our usual mulberry harvest must wait until next year. On a brighter note, the basil, mint, and Cuban oregano in our herb garden are thriving.

In May, we look forward to Mother’s Day, Graduations, Pool and RAC Cafe opening weekends, and the Memorial Day Pool Party. For all the latest updates, check your Clubster app, flyers, and this newsletter.

We continue to monitor the pricing and availability of eggs and poultry Over the past couple of months, our egg prices have tripled, and poultry supply has been inconsistent To ensure the best quality for our members we are sourcing eggs locally from a family farm whenever possible We appreciate your understanding and will keep adapting as needed to maintain MCC standards

John Beaman took second place low gross, while Dr. JJ Saenz came out of retirement to shoot net rounds of 70 and 71, winning the Super Senior Net Championship Raymond Jenkins followed with two solid rounds to finish second in low net.

In Flight One, Miguel Del Angel Jr. held off a strong start by McLean Beckwith. Despite Rene Lopez posting an impressive 67 in the final round, Miggie’s clutch 69 secured a three-shot victory

Flight Two saw Roland Gonzalez continue his steady play, carding back-to-back 76s to win comfortably. Tony Trad Jr. claimed second with a final-round 76. In Flight Three, Foued Abboud improved his score by four strokes on day two to take the win Dr. Ross Chapel and John Kittleman tied for second Flight Four was taken by Armando Araujo, who improved his day-one score to win the gross division.
