MCC January 2025 Newsletter

Page 1

Dear MCC Members,

On behalf of myself and all my staff, we wish everyone a safe, happy, and prosperous 2025. I certainly hope everyone enjoyed the Member Christmas Party earlier last month. It was great to see everyone in the holiday spirit enjoying their club.

On the same note, as new year resolutions begin, the fitness center will be busier than usual. Please respect those working out around you, keep in mind loud talking and no cell use. Also, please do not drop the free weights. Not only are they loud and jarring; I’d hate to have someone drop one on their foot (or someone else’s). Remember that the fitness center is positioned over the underground storage space which is not solid ground. Thank you in advance to all our healthy members. If anything needs to be addressed, let Mike Puig, Fitness Director, know.

Also, regarding safety, please drive slowly through the parking lot and abide by our stop signs Kids are still out of school, and we’d hate to have any accidents

Golf

Dear MCC Members,

The 2024 Tour Championship wrapped up with exciting match play featuring the top 32 fictional money winners for the year. With 14 players not participating, the Top 12 received automatic byes into the Round of 16 with the lower six having to compete against each other to progress in the tournament.

There were some great rounds played. Calvin Lackey posted a round of 64. Neil Chavez shot 79, both among several impressive performances. There were several others posting at or under par

Let me start with the quarterfinals. Match one was Calvin Lackey vs Neil Chavez. After 18 holes, the match was tied.

On the second playoff hole, Neil won with a net birdie. Match two was Danny Gurwitz vs Kevin Hartley. Kevin never let up winning 3 & 1

Match three was Richard Wilson vs Matt Kelly. The match was tied going into the 13th hole. Kelly took the lead and ended the match 3 & 2.

Match four was Thomas Davidson vs Roland Gonzalez. This was another tight match. Roland triumphed with a 2up victory

In the semi-finals, Neil Chavez faced Kevin Hartley. Neil walked off with a 2up victory. Matt Kelly faced Roland Gonzalez. Kelly wont the match 3 & 2.

The stage was set for the final match, Neil Chavez vs. Matt Kelly. The match came down to the final hole. Neil Chavez was the Tour Championship Winner!

The

The Winter Member-Member is in the books. The tournament had great weather for golf It was a little chilly, but how often do we get to play in this?

Let me start with the closest-to-the hole winners. They are as follows; #2 – Jason Leal (14'10"), #8 –Robert Garza (11'9"), #13 – Sameer Wadhwani (4'7"), and #15 – Rene Lopez (4').

In Flight One, the team of Mark Southwell and Matt Kelly posted a round of 62 and it felt like they climbed to the top of the leaderboard Well, it was short lived The team of Henry Temkin and Rene Lopez posted an equal round of 62 to win the flight by six.

In Flight Two, David Seal and Sergio Valdez dominated, making putts from over 30ft away all day. It was too much for the field. The team of Eddie Villarreal and Neil Chavez posted a stellar round of 63. Their round would have won them any other Member-Member Unfortunately, they had David and Sergio in their flight

Thanks to all who participated – it’s always great to see members competing and enjoying the game!
