Dear MCC Members,

I’d like to start off this month’s newsletter with a message from Jay Cortez, MCC President:

Dear Members,

I would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Member Guest Golf

Tournament. Having 78 years of tradition to work from and changing the format was not an easy task I commend both Dr Chris Freels and Kevin Hartley for pouring their hearts and souls into making this event a grand success Also, thank you to the Golf and Greens Committee which has worked all year to make this a memorable experience for all who participate. I would like to thank our tremendous staff who worked tirelessly to truly make this event special. As our GM says, “It takes a village, and we couldn’t have done it without everyone’s efforts.” We have a special place to call our club let’s continue to make it better every day in every way!

JayHappy June!

It looks like summer is here, and it’s going to be a hot one. Stay hydrated and safe. As always, I have exciting updates and improvements happening around the club that I am thrilled to share with you.

First, the food and beverage department is currently undergoing some changes with staffing. Juan Solis has decided to return to the waitstaff, becoming a captain on the floor I thank him for his efforts as a dining room manager, but heading the waitstaff seems to be a better fit; I know he will help out with anything he’s asked. Also, Judith Moreno will be taking over the catering duties Her past experience in catering makes for a great fit Veronica Turrubiates is being promoted to Food and Beverage Director. It’s a big responsibility, but I know she is up to it. Her new duties will encompass all front of the house staff, with Judith reporting to her. As we transition, please be patient with my staff; it will all come together quickly

Lastly, the Board continues working on our Strategic Plan. As details come, I/they will share.

With that, I look forward to seeing you around your club,

Jeff

Dining Dining

Dear MCC Members,

We are excited to share that our dryaged steak pilot program was a huge success We carefully crafted a 90-day dry-aged choice ribeye, and with the overwhelming response, we sold out quickly in two dinner services.

We’re already preparing the next round in about 60 days, this time using prime-grade beef for an even richer experience. Look for more details soon; these will go fast.

With summer here, the RAC Cafe is open! Enjoy Neapolitan-style pizzas from our brick oven and dine in, take out, or grab one for the course or courts.

We are hard at work planning a new event that we feel will be a smash! The Crab Smash is a crab boil with mallets. It is part rage room, part boil, and all fun It will be a super casual, messy event that will fit perfectly with the beginning of summer.

As always, during the summer, we will begin minimizing our lunch buffet days to exclusively Wednesdays throughout June We will pause the lunch buffets for July, August, and September, then resume in October. Sunday Brunch will continue all year, and we look forward to serving you all summer.

Thank you for your continued support.

The Majors at McAllen – the 2025 Member/Guest was quite an event. I want to thank my Member-Guest Committee, Dr. Chris Freels and Kevin Hartley, for all their hard work in making this event so special

The event included a putting contest and a raffle along with the tournament Putting contest winners were Tony Trad & Matt Kelly The PGA Raffle winners were Thomas Davidson, Julian Ybarra, Sean Donnelly, Bob Garcia, and Sunil Wadhwani. Thank you to everyone that contributed to the PGA education raffle for Caroly and Jeremy. They are both thankful for the support.

For the grand finale, the flight winners and the three second place teams that accumulated the most points competed in a Shoot-out. The three teams were Ricky Sanchez & Steve Martinez, Alan Malkasian & Brandon Ater, and Cody Hamer & Ryan Wellman. We started with 12 and reduced the field by three at the end of each hole The Shoot-out was a nail-biter In the end, Mark Southwell had a 15ft putt that swung about 3ft left to right and MADE IT!! Congratulations to Mark Southwell and his guest, Jason Odette on their victory.

The local qualifying tournament for the 2026 Drive, Chip & Putt was held at Champion Lakes Golf Course on May 2nd. In the girls 10-11, Kamryn Ramirez was victorious with her sister, Kacey, finishing in third place, both advancing to the regional competition in San Antonio I want to thank all those kids that went out there and gave it their best; Carter Stansberry, Dillon Stansberry, Miles Stansberry, Madelyn Stansberry, Ruy Mireles, and Miguel Mireles.
