Senior Project Manager

Location: Menlo Park, CA
Role Overview
The senior project manager is an in-house construction and project management leadership role who is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, and execution of construction projects.
This role combines the detailed, hands-on technical oversight of a job captain with the broader project management responsibilities, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Typical Responsibilities
1.Project Planning and Scheduling


Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules and budgets. Coordinate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the project are aligned and progressing as planned. Adjust project timelines and plans as necessary to address any changes or delays.
2. Team Coordination and Leadership
Lead and manage project teams, including collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors, and other consultants.
Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring clear communication and accountability. Mentor our design staff and provide guidance on technical and project management aspects.


3. Design and Technical Oversight
Ensure that all design and construction work complies with building codes, zoning laws, and other legal requirements. Review and approve detailed design drawings and specifications. Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress and address any issues that arise.
4. Client Interaction and Communication
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication to update them on project progress. Manage client expectations and address any concerns or changes requested by the client.
Provide detailed project reports and documentation to clients and stakeholders.


5. Budget Management
Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring all expenses are tracked and controlled.
Track hours on our projects to understand which team resources are allocated to each project and help forecast the amount of work we can take on as a firm.
6. Quality Assurance and Control
Implement quality control measures to ensure all work meets the high standards required for high-end residential and commercial projects.
Conduct regular inspections and reviews to identify and resolve any issues.
Ensure that all materials and workmanship meet specified standards and requirements.


7. Risk Management
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them. Monitor and manage risks throughout the project lifecycle to minimize their impact on the project.
8. Documentation and Record Keeping
Maintain detailed project records, including design changes, construction progress, and communication logs. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Additional Role Details: Qualifications:


Extensive knowledge in construction, including experience with AutoCAD and construction drawings.
Ability to mentor and train junior staff.
Strong project management skills, including experience with scheduling, budget management, and client communication.
Ability to oversee construction projects and manage construction administration.
Experience with high-end residential and commercial projects is preferred.
Architectural background with a focus on interior architecture is highly desirable.

An architectural background with experience working on high-end TI (tenant improvements), high-end residential, or high-end retail projects.

Compensation and Benefits:

Full medical coverage for the individual. Simple IRA with matching up to 3%.
Vacation: 2 weeks up to 3 years, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 5 years (excluding sick time).
