Vincenzo Cino nasce a Portici.

INTRODUCTION BY FRANCO CIPRIANO
Enzo Cino’s artist experience relates to the singular and ‘necessary’ dimension of art. ‘Active’ painting is the path that the artist follows, with the intensity of a search that brings into play the memory of the soul in revelations of an elsewhere that ‘inhabits’ the imaginative language. In the painting cycles, the awareness of preconsciousness is revealed to Cino, in a game of making that, in the becoming of shape and shapeless, reflects the ‘dream’ of the unrepresentable. painting delves into its possibilities on a research that is not dissolute but in its own way ‘edifying’. In this, despite the radical ‘poetic’ differences, it can be compared to the abstract expressionism of Emilio Vedova and the singular informal version of ‘architectural’ tension by Pierre Soulages or to the fluctuations of matter and sign of Asger Jorn’s painting. In some cases, it can also recall the work of Afro, for the lyrical and ‘memorial’ aspects. In Cino’s work there are also similarities with the American abstract expressionism that was declined in Action Painting and Color-Field Painting. The first aimed at gestural automatism towards the ‘infinite’ expansion (Pollock, de Kooning, Kline), the other at the condensation of chromatic spaces and

In the nature of Cino’s painting (not ‘painting of nature’) the perceptual planes intertwine in an unconditional modification, as in an unlimited efflorescence. A restless ‘soul’ that moves the pictorial faults, as in a thought that has a side of a counter-thought, and the crossing of the two generates a vision of the impossible. Where the author is involved in the circle of mutations and portrayed in the other nature, he himself as a vocation in unthinkable otherness of meaning that displaces the concept and ‘encounters’ the mystery, not only of ‘hidden’ worlds but also of
Yet, in Cino’s work, the root of light and color of the Neapolitan ‘scene’ resonate above and below, in its expressive, anthropological and environmental phenomenology display. In the Neapolitan area and more generally in the Italian panorama, the informal version in painting had essential distinctions from
painting itself. The path that Enzo Cino travels is of unpredictable developments even from the concept internalized by the artist: painting as a time of being in the world that transcends its limitation, in which the ‘finite’ of the tangible work is a transcoloring echo of the infinite.

My life has passed between canvases, brushes and palettes, where I saw my father draw then paint with a decisive and elegant line that is always sober. The tidy palette, never a brushstroke out of place, the smell of the oil solvents, were the essences of his presence in the house. His precise, punctual, calm character pushed him towards figurative painting and then led to hyperrealism over the years. I have always remembered his words about the great painters of the past, about the perfection of their works. In the first place, he said, the study of the masters of the past’s technique is the basis of any style of pictorial expression. I listened and observed it for years, until I felt the desire to try it.
I did it.

The Breakthrough VINCENZO CINO
Much of our suffering comes from a lack of awareness. Sometimes we live our days repetitively, on the surface, lost in the twists of our thoughts, often linked to traditions we no longer accept. Rediscovering awareness is a bit like going back to seeing life in color. If awareness is the key to returning to live fully, courage is the necessary ingredient to live proud, and sincerity is the consequence of authenticity. This set of knowledge, bravery, honesty and thruth led to the artistic turning point of my life. When I paint I really feel myself, the serenity, the spontaneity, the speed of the brush strokes, the arrangement of the spots and the choice of colors are nothing more than a tool, the connection between the soul and the canvas. In a spontaneous and sincere gesture, they are the ingredients of my painting. I dedicate an important part to improvisation and nurture the instantaneity of the pictorial gesture, to give life and emotion to the creation. The composition is more and more a force rather than the result of a thought; this is essential to preserve honesty and authenticity.Exploring the lines, the stains, the colors, the choice of material, I try to translate my intimate emotions and moods, whatever they are, into creations with a tangible consistency and an everchanging design, which can often seem distant to distracted eyes. Before starting a work, I connect to my emotional state which can often be influenced by my short journey from home to the studio, by the colorful luminous smells of nature: once

CRITICAL ESSAY BY LEONARDA ZAPPULLA
Vincenzo Cino was born in Portici. His father, also a painter, infuses in him a passion for art. If for his father, a painter with a classicist matrix, the precision of the figuration was the cornerstone of his profession, on the contrary, for Vincenzo, the composition is the result of an inner drive. To put it in his words “the serenity, the spontaneity, the speed of the brush strokes, the arrangement of the spots and the choice of colors are nothing but a tool, the connection between the soul and the canvas”. The artist’s pictorial research is based on abstraction and fully respects the creative emotion.
The skilful union of form and color transmits a harmonic construct with strong poetic potential, a gestural language that evokes in some canvases a reminiscence of realistic spatiality and in others a very fine lyricism, free from any academic or formal constraint. Vincenzo Cino’s compositions are offered to the viewer as refined chromatic symphonies full of contrasts, capable of capturing the attention and carrying the observers to landscapes that can only be felt by the imagination, clear and honest emotional landscapes.
The Breakthrough

“Vincenzo Cino’s works are a mixture of intuition and expression, with unpredictable colors, geometries and shapes. An awakening, an awareness of the strength of shapes and brushstrokes. The large scale of his works expresses those emotions that have no place in verbal language. The vivid and skilfully combined colors, together with the softness of the features invade the environment, making every single work the absolute protagonist of the space.”
