Women's suits have evolved beyond the boardroom. They have become a versatile wardrobe staple, suitable for all occasions.
In the ever-evolving world of fashion, power dressing has undergone a significant transformation over the years. Once associated predominantly with men's attire, power dressing has now found its stronghold in the realm of women's fashion, particularly in the form of women's suits.
The history of women's suits dates back to the early 20th century when women started breaking free from traditional gender norms and entering the workforce. Coco Chanel is often credited with revolutionising women's fashion by introducing the concept of the women's suit. Her designs combined elegance and functionality, giving women the confidence to navigate maledominated professional spheres.
In the 1960s and '70s, the women's liberation movement further propelled the popularity of women's suits. Women demanded equal rights, and their clothing choices reflected their aspirations. Iconic figures like Katharine Hepburn and Bianca Jagger became synonymous with women's suits, showcasing their strength and individuality.
Today, women's suits have evolved beyond the boardroom. They have become a versatile wardrobe staple, worn for professional occasions and formal events, parties, and even casual outings. Designers have embraced this trend, offering various styles, colours, and fabrics to suit every taste and body type.
A well-fitted suit enhances a woman's confidence, helping her make a strong statement in any setting. It symbolises authority and competence, challenging societal perceptions of femininity. The androgynous nature of women's suits has played a significant role in breaking down gender barriers.
As fashion continues to evolve, women's suits will remain a vital component of power dressing. We can anticipate more innovative designs, sustainable materials, and inclusivity in sizing and style options. Women are rewriting the rules of power dressing, and the suit remains a powerful tool in their arsenal.
Women's suits have come a long way, evolving from rebellion symbols to empowerment and style icons. They have broken gender stereotypes, empowered women, and redefined power dressing. In a world where women continue striving for equality and recognition, the women's suit is a timeless symbol of strength, confidence, and individuality. It's not just about the clothes; it's about their statement, saying, "I am powerful, I am confident, and I am here to make my mark."

Ellipse Salon have exclusively brought 3D Aesthetics to Jersey, offering clients the latest in non-surgical treatments. We put the treatments to the test, and the results did not disappoint!
Introducing a powerful new revolution in body shaping and muscle toning, 3D-Ultimate Pro and 3D Powersculpt are revolutionary platforms designed to offer a complete approach to non-surgical treatments. With fat melting, skin tightening, cellulite treatments and muscle building all available, you can easily create bespoke treatment plans to target your concerns. The 3D treatments give outstanding results without any downtime… which means you can continue with your daily activities straight after having the treatment.
After two pregnancies, and medication known for weight gain and lethargy (making it difficult to regularly work out), I had struggled with my image for the past couple years. I didn't need to lose a lot of weight, but I definitely needed to tone up. When I heard about the latest 3D treatments, I decided to put them to the test.
• Cavitation and Fat Melting once a week for four weeks
• Muscle Building twice a week (with Skin Tightening on one of the sessions) for four weeks
After just a few weeks I have lost 1.5 inches off my waist and 2.5 inches off my hips, and I've dropped a dress size! Overall, I feel a lot better in myself, and it's given me the push I needed to maintain my fitness goals.
Cavitation uses ultrasound technology which is great for inch loss. The ultrasound wave disrupts the cell membrane of the fat cell by creating a vibration within the fat layer, causing the fat cells to very quickly break down and be removed naturally from the body through the lymphatic system. Results from this treatment are often instant with a 1-3cm loss seen per treatment, however, the results are progressive.
Radio Frequency can be used for both fat melting and skin tightening. For fat melting, the hand piece delivers energy to approximately 1-2 cm beneath the skin to reach the fat cells and heats the area to 40 degrees Celsius – the temperature at which fat cells will start to melt and metabolise.
Radio Frequency for skin tightening also heats the area to 40 degrees Celsius, however, the hand piece targets a depth of 3-4 mm to increase the synthesis of new collagen and elastin fibres. This tightens the appearance of the skin and can also help to create a lifting effect.
The high intensity, electro-magnetic technology repeatedly contracts the muscles throughout the treatment, forcing the muscle tissue to adapt, resulting in muscle building and fat burning. One 30-minute treatment is equivalent to 20,000 crunches or squats!

Jane Rayner, recognised for her time on The Real Housewives of Jersey, has over a decade of experience in the beauty industry. Jane has recently brought the revolutionary Red Light Therapy Beds to Jersey.
Red Light Therapy (RLT) was originally developed in the '80s by NASA for plant growth experiments, but scientists made an accidental discovery that had profound implications for human health. Not only did the red LED wavelengths boost plant growth; lesions on the scientists’ skin began to heal faster because of exposure to the light.
One of the primary effects of Red Light Therapy is that wavelengths of light are absorbed into
mitochondria, which are “energy factories” inside cells. This stimulates mitochondria to produce more ATP, thereby increasing the cells’ ability to perform essential functions.
Since the 1980s, researchers have discovered some key properties that red light has on human health, including increased cellular metabolism, reduced inflammation, increased circulation, reduced oxidative stress, and accelerated recovery from injury. From NASA’s early research to now, LED technology has seen remarkable progress.
With approximately 10 x 20 minutes over a period of 3-4 weeks, the metabolism is activated, the skin is detoxified and the skin surface improves.
With approximately 20 x 20 minutes over a period of 5-7 weeks, impurities heal, the skin appears clearer, fresher and healthier, moisture content increases.
With approximately 30 x 20 minutes over a period of 8-10 weeks the skin regains elasticity through stabilization of the collagen structure; lines and wrinkles are filled in.
Whilst RLT has been widely used in medical circles to aid wound recovery, it is now used more commonly in cosmetic clinics and beauty salons due to its healing effect on the skin, and the fact that it comes with zero down time. The treatment itself is painless, and the light omits just a warm feeling to the skin - but leaves it with a visible bounce and inner glow.
Red light treatments improve skin tone and texture, control pigmentation spots, help shrink pores, make skin look brighter, healthier, and reduce wrinkles. Rejuvenating Red Light Therapy stimulates blood circulation and restores elastin fibres in tissues, helping to maintain skin elasticity.
Your skin will feel smoother almost immediately and further changes occur naturally with a few weeks of regular use. Everyone reacts differently, depending on age and skin condition. The recommended treatment plan is 3-4 days per week for 4-6 weeks. After the initial treatment regimen, it is recommended to continue 1-2 days per week.
Jane Rayner, the founder of Bronzed Angel, said she first heard about Red Light Therapy more than a decade ago, and after extensive research, she was hooked. At the time, Red Light Therapy was a popular treatment in Europe, but it was virtually unheard of in the UK, leading Jane to launch her first salon and introduce the RLT beds.
In 2013, Bronzed Angel opened its doors in Market Harbourough, and has since seen a variety of clients, including professional sports players to help aid in recovery, customers wanting younger looking skin, as well as those with general aches and pains. The salon now boasts 8 RLT beds, proving just how effective the treatment is.
Fast forward 10 years, and Jane has now brought the popular treatment to Jersey. Bronzed Angel can be found in The Wellness Centre at Castle Quay.

Skinade, a peach and mangosteen flavoured daily skincare drink, boosts your body’s natural production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, improving your skin’s elasticity and youthful appearance in as little as 30 days.
Skinade is a drink that supports the skin all over your body. It works from the inside out to rebuild and strengthen the collagen matrix below the skin's surface, boost natural levels of hydration and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Developed by leading UK scientists and manufactured in the UK, the patent-pending formulation contains high-grade collagen and essential micronutrients. The high-grade collagen is sourced from fresh-water fish, which is low in sodium and avoids mercury contamination.
Drinking Skinade daily results in firmer, more even toned, hydrated, radiant, youthful and healthier looking skin. It reduces fine lines and wrinkles and repairs connective tissue, so you will also benefit from stronger, healthier, and faster-growing hair and nails.
Skinade increases collagen in the bloodstream by adding 7000mg of hydrolysed collagen peptides from each bottle (daily dose), but more importantly triggers the body's own collagen production by firing up the fibroblasts, our own collagen factories. Increasing collagen in the bloodstream also increases the body's production of hyaluronic acid, responsible for optimising skin hydration.
After completing a course of Skinade, many consumers have reported the following results:
• Increased skin hydration and radiance
• Reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
• Increased skin suppleness
• Healthier looking hair and nails
• Improvements in skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis
Individual results will vary but, with continued daily use, your skin will continue to improve. According to leading medical professionals, everyone can achieve bright, luminous, and healthy-looking skin by adopting a comprehensive approach to their skincare.

The menstrual market is currently flourishing as more and more brands branch out into the world of period-proof underwear and activewear, banishing the need for tampons or the worry of leaking.
For those seeking an invigorating way to connect with nature, sea swimming offers an unparalleled experience that encompasses physical and mental wellbeing.
There's something truly enchanting about the vast expanse of the open sea – its rhythmic waves, endless horizons, and the refreshing salty breeze.
Sea swimming isn't just about a dip in the water; it's a holistic experience that provides numerous benefits to both body and mind. The natural buoyancy of seawater reduces the impact on joints, making it an ideal lowimpact exercise for people of all ages. The sea's saline content can also aid in exfoliation, promoting healthier skin. Beyond the physical, sea swimming triggers the release of endorphins, often called "feel-good" hormones, which can alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression. The rhythmic breathing required while swimming in the open sea can be meditative, offering a unique form of mindfulness.
While sea swimming offers many benefits, it's essential to prioritise safety. Before taking the plunge, know about local conditions, tides, and currents. Wearing a wetsuit can provide insulation and enhance buoyancy, while brightly coloured swim caps increase visibility for fellow swimmers and watercraft. Additionally, it's wise to swim with a buddy and inform someone on land of your swimming plans.
START SLOWLY: If you're new to sea swimming, start in shallow waters and gradually build your confidence before venturing into deeper areas.
ACCLIMATISE: The initial shock of cold water can be startling. Take your time to acclimatise by splashing water on your body before fully immersing yourself.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY: Pay attention to how your body responds to the water temperature and currents. Don't push yourself beyond your comfort zone.
AFTERCARE: After your swim, rinse off with freshwater to remove salt and other impurities. Stay hydrated and nourished to aid in recovery.
Attention all menstruators, mothers, fathers, brothers, family members, friends, and carers of a menstruating individual. YOU need to hear this! EVERYBODY needs to hear this!
Amenstrual cycle is much more than an inconvenient monthly bleed; it's a woman's `5th vital sign, providing important insight into her health. A menstrual irregularity could mean something is wrong, such as a hormonal imbalance, gynaecological disease or infection.
Did you know that 1 in 10 girls and women take time off work or school almost every menstrual cycle? Also, 1 in 3 women feel that their menstrual cycle affects their day-to-day life.
While it's a natural process, it's 'not' normal to suffer through those pesky period symptoms. But don't threat. Science has shown that we can use nutrition to support menstrual health. So, let's dive
into each phase of the menstrual cycle and learn what to eat to not just survive but thrive throughout!
NUTRITION FOR MENSTRUAL PHASE
Menstruation, also known as a period, marks the beginning of the menstrual cycle and lasts 2 to 7 days. Oestrogen and progesterone levels decrease rapidly in the absence of a pregnancy, leading to the shedding of blood and mucosal tissue from the uterine lining. Losing about 1 to 5 tablespoons (20 to 90ml) of blood during menstruation is normal. Some women bleed more heavily than this, potentially increasing their risk of fatigue and weakness and even leading to iron deficiency anaemia. Therefore, It is important to include iron-rich foods in your diet, such as lean meats, poultry, fish, legumes, leafy greens and dark chocolate. Pairing these iron-rich foods with vitamin C sources like citrus fruits or bell peppers further enhances iron absorption.
The follicular phase starts from day 1 of menstruation to day 14. During this period, oestrogen levels gradually rise, leading to the thickening of the uterine lining in preparation for a potential pregnancy. The ovaries also prepare to release an egg. Nutrition is key during this stage as it supplies the necessary energy for the upcoming release of the egg. At this stage, the body leans towards carbohydrates as its primary energy source rather than fat or protein. This can result in increased cravings for foods such as bread and pasta. It's important to listen to your body's signals and slightly boost your carbohydrate intake. When choosing carbs, opt for complex carbohydrates like fruits, whole grains, and starchy vegetables such as potatoes.
This occurs for about 3 to 4 days in the middle of the cycle. During this phase, there is a rapid increase in oestrogen. This surge triggers the release of an egg from the ovaries. You may notice a rise in your body temperature and a dull pain on one side of your tummy, known as ovulation pain. It is common for women to experience bloating at this phase of their cycle due to the rise in oestrogen. Bloating can be bothersome, dictating outfit choices, but with smart nutrition, relief is within reach! Reducing salt intake can help curb bloating. Opt for low-sodium options and limit processed foods. Include more potassium-rich foods such as bananas, spinach, and sweet potatoes to help balance sodium levels and reduce bloating. Incorporate Diuretic Foods such as cucumbers, watermelon, and asparagus to aid in water elimination.
The luteal phase encompasses the 10 to 14 days preceding the next menstrual bleed. Here, oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone reach their peak levels before gradually declining, completing the cycle.
During the luteal phase, the resting metabolic rate is significantly higher as your body is busy working to prepare for a potential pregnancy. As a result, you tend to use more fat for energy and protein is broken down at a higher rate. This means that it is important
to load up healthy fats from foods such as nuts, seeds, olive oil and avocado and good quality protein like lean meats, eggs, and plant-based sources. As insulin sensitivity is low during this phase, opt for complex carbohydrates and pair with protein and fat.
The luteal phase can be characterised by premenstrual syndrome (PMS), the symptoms women can experience in the weeks before their period. These can include acne, tender breasts, bloating, feeling tired, irritability, and mood changes. Premenstrual syndrome can be a combination of these symptoms. Did you know around 20 to 30% of women experience PMS? Magnesium can potentially support PMS. Foods rich in magnesium include bananas, avocados, almonds, pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate.
In the grand scheme of things, nutrition can considerably influence your menstrual cycle's impact. Specific foods offer advantages during particular phases, and others help keep pesky period symptoms at bay. It's important to acknowledge that even though someone may have a menstrual cycle, they are still an individual!

Embrace the change of season - Feng Shui tips for balance and harmony
As the leaves begin to change colours and a gentle chill fills the air, autumn arrives, bringing a unique energy that can be harnessed through the principles of Feng Shui. This ancient Chinese practice is centred around creating harmony and balance in our living spaces by aligning them with the natural elements and energies that surround us. Just as nature transitions in autumn, so too can we adapt our homes to embrace the season's energy. In this article, we'll explore how to use Feng Shui to create a harmonious and inviting autumn atmosphere in your home.
Feng Shui revolves around five key elements:
Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. Each element represents different aspects of life and energy. In autumn, the Metal element is most prominent, reflecting the crispness in the air and the shedding of leaves. To harmonize with this energy, incorporate Metal elements into your decor.
Autumn is a season of letting go, just as trees shed their leaves. Use this time to declutter your living space. Remove items that no longer serve you, creating space for new opportunities and energies to flow. Donate, recycle, or discard objects that are no longer needed. This act of releasing can bring clarity and lightness to your home.
Incorporate the warm, earthy colours of autumn into your decor. Shades of orange, deep red, golden yellow, and brown can evoke the cosy and comforting feeling of the season. Use these colours in textiles, such as throw pillows, blankets, and curtains. Earthy tones can also be integrated through natural materials like wood and stone.
Feng Shui aims to balance the yin and yang energies within a space. In autumn, as the yang energy wanes with the shortening days, enhance the yin energy by creating cosy and serene spaces. Soft lighting, plush textures, and gentle scents like cinnamon or vanilla can foster a sense of relaxation and tranquillity.
Ensure that the chi, or energy, flows freely throughout your home. Clear any obstacles or clutter that might impede its movement. Use mirrors strategically to reflect light and energy into dark corners. Open windows and let in the fresh autumn air to rejuvenate the energy in your space.
Incorporate autumn-specific decor and symbols into your home. Pumpkins, gourds, and seasonal flowers like chrysanthemums can add a touch of nature's beauty to your living space. Display symbols of harvest and abundance, such as cornucopias or images of ripe fruits, to attract prosperity and good fortune.

Chloe Bowler shares her tips and advice on maintaining your wellness goals.
Summer has come to a close, and we are back to the routine of work and school. As the evenings get shorter and the mornings darker, now is a great time to work out a good routine for your wellbeing. It is so easy to slip into old routines and run around as busy as ever. However, it is the best time to set some goals and carve out some time in your diary for your wellbeing.
I say wellbeing because it is too easy to think of health goals as dragging yourself to the gym. This doesn't have to be the case. You can do plenty of activities that will raise your heart rate, tone your muscles and give you some feel-good endorphins. Gyms are fabulous, so is swimming, or even just walking with a friend.
The most important thing is to schedule some time in your diary to fit in wellbeing activities. If you can
walk to work, walk. If you can cycle, cycle. If you have a lunch hour you often spend wandering around town, try to schedule a friend to go for a walk with, or get in 30 minutes swimming. If you use your time wisely, it suddenly doesn't become a burden, it becomes an achievable goal that will give you satisfaction and encourage you to keep going.
When it comes to nutrition, planning is also key. Plan what you are going to eat in advance when you can. This way, you avoid the dangerous hunger shopping when you walk around the aisles choosing your lunch with your tummy rumbling; always a recipe for buying the less healthy options! If you can batch cook, that's amazing; keep portion-sized meals in your freezer for those evenings when you come home tired and hungry. If you cook supper one evening, try to cook double and box up the leftovers for lunch the next day. This is a healthier way to live than endless, shop-bought sandwiches. It is better for the wallet, too.
Plan your meals so you know what you're having for breakfast, lunch and supper. Even if it doesn't happen every day, it goes a great way to helping you in the long run, so that when you are not organised, you can have more of a treat day, knowing that on most days you are eating healthy, balanced meals.
These two recipes are quick to make, use very simple ingredients and are fab for all the family. The great thing with both recipes is that you can play around with the ingredients to suit different tastes. I love a smoked salmon & spinach quesadilla, my children love ham & mozzarella. The same goes for the muffins, these are great with cucumber sticks for children, or they are also popular with chorizo and paprika for a little spice.

You can roast the pumpkin in the oven first to add another level of flavour to this hearty autumnal soup which I like to finish with a garnish of freshly chopped coriander and toasted coconut flakes.
• 1kg pumpkin flesh
• 2 onions, peeled and finely chopped
• 600ml vegetable stock
• 1 tin of coconut milk
• A generous splash of olive oil
• 5cm piece of fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
• 4 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
• 1 tbsp mild curry powder
• 1 tsp ground coriander
• Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
1. In a large pan heat the oil and soften the onions. Add the pumpkin, ginger, garlic, coriander, and curry powder and cook for five minutes stirring occasionally. Add the stock and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 20-30 mins until the pumpkin is soft.
2. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly before blending. Return to the pan and add the coconut milk and reheat.
3. Add a little water if the soup is too thick and check the seasoning before serving.
If you like carrot cake, you'll love this spiced pumpkin cake with and indulgent cream cheese topping.
For the cake:
• 500g pumpkin flesh, grated
• 300g self-raising flour
• 300g light soft brown sugar
• 200g butter, at room temperature
•200g sultanas or raisins or a mix of both
• 4 free-range eggs, beaten
• Zest and juice of 1 small orange
• 1 heaped tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon
• ½ tsp ground ginger
• ½ tsp fine salt
• A pinch of ground nutmeg
For the cream cheese frosting:
• 250g soft full-fat cream cheese
• 250g mascarpone cheese
• 100g icing sugar
• 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
• 175ml double cream
METHOD
1. Preheat oven to 350F/180C/Gas Mark 4, and butter a 30x20cm cake tin and line with baking paper.
2. Sift flour, salt, spices and baking powder.
3. Place the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl and beat together with a wooden spoon until smooth. Add a spoon of the flour mix and a quarter of the beaten egg. Mix together and repeat until all of the egg is incorporated. Fold in the remaining flour and then the pumpkin, orange juice and zest, and the dried fruit then spoon into the cake tin. Bake in the centre of your oven for around thirty minutes until golden and when you insert a small sharp knife in the middle of the cake it comes out clean. Allow to cool slightly, transfer to a wire rack.
4. In a large mixing bowl beat together the cream cheese and mascarpone until smooth. Sieve in the icing sugar and add the vanilla, whisk until thoroughly combined. Slowly add the cream, whisking until a thick but spreadable consistency is achieved.
5. When the cake is totally cool spread the frosting over the cake and decorate as desired.
